    Elegant and delicious!

    Five of us stayed together. Only one group per building, so we could fully enjoy chatting in our Room without worrying about others. Dinner was incredibly delicious, and we all finished everything. Breakfast was a luxurious Japanese-style meal. It was a wonderful Accommodation we’d love to visit again.

    Wonderful

    I’d been curious about the meals here for a while, and since it’s just over an hour by car from the Tokyo Bay area, I decided to stay. All of the staff were extremely courteous, and it was very comfortable. For dinner, I upgraded to the Goku course. An outstanding selection of ingredients and dishes. Breakfast also had an astonishing variety, and everything was delicious. I was surprised at how affordable it was, considering you can enjoy such exceptional food and this auberge accommodates only one party per day. My satisfaction level was so high that it would be a shame not to stay here.

    We took a bus trip from Tokyo Station (Yaesu) and arrived at Manoir Yoshitei while enjoying the rural scenery of Sawara through the window—an auberge that truly lived up to its reputation. The French dinner, made with premium ingredients by a chef trained at prestigious restaurants in Tokyo, was outstanding; the main meat dish struck a perfect balance between a fragrant seared exterior and a tender interior, showcasing the chef’s excellent sense. (In our family of three, my portion was larger than my wife’s and daughter’s—thank you for the thoughtful touch!) Breakfast was Japanese-style, carefully prepared to bring out the natural flavors of many local ingredients; in particular, the miso soup made with ichiban dashi was deeply comforting. It’s always special to be moved by great food at a restaurant you discover while traveling, but at Manoir we were able to speak directly with both the chef and the head Japanese cuisine chef—truly experiencing gastronomic tourism. Rather than “fine dining in Sawara,” it felt like “traveling to Sawara for fine dining.” I think this Accommodation is ideal for those who want to relax on-site and savor their meals at an unhurried pace.

    An auberge exclusively for one group per stay

    Accommodation: Spacious, well-equipped, and wonderful with a great selection of amenities. If I had one request, it would be even better if the double bed had separate duvets for each person. Dinner: Flawless in both quality and quantity. The staff’s hospitality was excellent, and they could immediately answer even when I asked the name of an unusual vegetable (it was my first time hearing “pitendril”). Breakfast: A beautifully prepared Japanese meal. It was truly moving that you prepared this just for one party of two. Thank you to the chef, head chef, and all the staff. We will visit again next year!

    This was our first trip with a child, and we really enjoyed our stay. It was a lovely Accommodation, but since this is a Review, I’d like to share a few things that stood out. - The name on the anniversary plate was incorrect. A two-kanji name became three characters, resulting in a completely different and puzzling name. - We couldn’t find the air conditioner remote in the Japanese-style room and searched for it late at night. We eventually found it inside the floor sliding door compartment. - There was no spare toilet paper, so after searching we asked a staff member for more. - We had requested an upgraded meal plan, but it didn’t seem to be included in the check-in payment. After regular fish was served and we asked about it, we were told, “Since we haven’t received payment, we can still change it now if you pay at checkout.” - The humidifier ran out of water almost immediately, so I wondered if the water had been left as-is from the previous guest. - Since there were plenty of beauty devices provided, I thought it would be nice to have a light chair in the washroom. The food and garden were wonderful, and because it felt very private we could relax without worrying about others. Thank you very much for taking care of us.

    A wonderful experience

    The excellence of the meals was as widely known. Every dish was meticulously crafted, both in taste and presentation. What surprised me during this stay was the well-equipped accommodation and exceptional hospitality. The beautiful lighting and the breakfast served in the room were particularly impressive.     A luxurious accommodation for one group per day

    The meals were exceptional, as expected from an auberge. For dinner, we chose the top-tier French course. The main dish, featuring Chateaubriand and foie gras topped with kumquat, was a perfect harmony of the tender meat, high-quality foie gras, and the elegant sweetness of seasonal kumquat. It was truly the best steak of my life. Breakfast was a luxurious Japanese-style set meal with abalone, tuna, shrimp, and more—a delightful indulgence to start the day. I was amazed to learn that there are different chefs: a French chef for dinner and a Japanese chef for breakfast. The staff members were also outstanding!

    Auberge in Sawara

    I recently stayed at this accommodation for the first time. Overall, it was a highly satisfying stay. Although the accommodation section started in August, the service was smooth and attentive. 【About the Accommodation】 The room has many windows, which can let in cold air, but temperature adjustment with the air conditioner worked well and there were no major issues. There was a gap near the entrance area; if improved, it could make the space even warmer. The bed is a double type but has a split in the middle, making it slightly uncomfortable to sleep on. To avoid this split, we ended up sleeping closer to each side of the bed and had to share one blanket between us—having individual blankets would be more convenient. 【About Meals】 For dinner, you can choose between dining at the restaurant or having meals served in your room—I chose room service for dinner and it was definitely worth it! Enjoying French cuisine while wearing loungewear in your own room is simply amazing. It would be even better if hand towels were provided since bread is part of the meal. Dinner included French dishes with Japanese appetizers, while breakfast featured traditional Japanese cuisine. This rare combination of carefully prepared French dinner and Japanese breakfast makes this accommodation truly unique for an overnight stay experience! Thank you for such wonderful hospitality! I look forward to staying again in January!
