    The Facility was excellent.

It was a Facility that both children and adults could enjoy. There was an on-site pool, and the kids seemed to have a great time. At night, you can enjoy drinks at the Strait Night Lounge. We also enjoyed the evening atmosphere, which was a nice change of pace.

    Fantastic location!

It’s a unique Hotel. The Room bathroom was clean, but honestly, I still wished there had been an Onsen.

Is it a priority to adhere to the designated check-in time?

On the first day of a long holiday, even when the lobby was overflowing with families waiting, check-in did not start early. Then, once check-in time arrived, guests were made to line up again and wait in a long queue. Is this really hospitality? In Europe, staff act flexibly according to the situation.

    A Holiday with My Grandchildren

A one-night, two-day trip from within the prefecture. I visited with my grandchild, who had been hoping for a pool and water slide. We were able to relax in the heated pool while enjoying views of Moji across the water and the Kanmon Bridge. We used the buffet, and the children enjoyed the pastry chef experience and tried a variety of dishes. The evening view after dinner was wonderful as well, enjoying wine and juice on Namunami Terrace. The Room was also spacious. It was a very satisfying stay for my grandchild.

    I was satisfied.

We chose this destination because we wanted a place our child would enjoy. With transfers by plane, bullet train, local train, and taxi, the travel back and forth was very tiring, but during our 2-night, 3-day stay here the staff spoke with us very kindly (truly professional), and our child was absorbed in playing—we had a wonderful time. We made great memories. If I had to point out something negative—it's quite difficult—but the barley tea in the vending machine on the 3rd floor sold out quickly. I wish there had been more barley tea available.

Perfect for families—and also ideal for solo travelers!

This time, I stayed two nights on the Mojiko side, then took the ferry across to the Shimonoseki side for one night. It was a very sunny and hot day, but Karato Market, the Karato Ferry Terminal, Kaikyokan (Shimonoseki Aquarium), Hai! Karatto Yokocho (a small amusement park), and RISONARE are all lined up in the same area, so it’s great that you can enjoy everything within walking distance. On top of that, the Hotel offers plenty of kid-friendly activities such as the pufferfish pool and pufferfish beach, and the little ones looked like they were having a wonderful time. I also saw families staying with three generations together—this seems like an excellent choice for family trips. As for me, it was a solo trip for one night, so I treated myself to a full pufferfish Italian course at Otto Sette in the dining room (the aperitif was served on the terrace at sunset before moving into the dining room!). I also enjoyed a relaxing resort stay in a new and comfortable Room while taking in views of the Kanmon Straits. In the morning, I started my walk before dawn along Arukaport Promenade by the sea in front of the Hotel. With cool sea breezes and gradually brightening skies over the Kanmon Straits, I walked past Karato Market to Sister City Plaza at the end of the promenade to watch sunrise. Then I returned along the same path back to the Hotel and joined “Sea Breeze Stretch” on Namunami Terrace with its beautifully kept lawn. After that came an incredible breakfast buffet with so many options it was hard to choose—I enjoyed it right up to my limit. At PUKU PUKU’s breakfast buffet, kawara soba, seafood marinated rice bowls, and French toast are must-haves—go hungry. Even though it was only one night, it felt incredibly fulfilling. I’d love to come back—and now I want to visit other RISONARE properties too. Also, even if you make a Reservation here, it’s convenient that you can log in on their official website using your Reservation Number and arrange meals and activities online in advance.

There are a few aspects of the service that concern me.

The Facility was new and clean. However, there was only one partially used roll of toilet paper from the start (even though some bathrooms had holders for two rolls), and it wasn’t replenished, so we had to ask the front desk early in the morning. As for the pool, despite having many lifeguards, they were mostly just standing around. I would like them to properly supervise areas such as the children’s slide. Some kids cut in line or started sliding while another child was still on the slide, which was very dangerous. Of course parents should watch their children, but since some do not, I hope issues between guests can be prevented. The location, guest room, and buffet were great.

Hoshino Resorts’ quality is impressive, but…

We stayed here in the early part of the summer vacation season (weekday) in midsummer. We’ve visited other RISONARE properties many times, so we were really looking forward to it. The building layout and flow were comfortable, with no inconvenience. It was also nice to have plenty of places to sit right after entering. However, one thing: the check-in counter and where to line up were a bit hard to understand. It might be different if there were one staff member guiding guests. The pool, Room, and meals were perfect for families with children! The activities also felt just right. As expected, the Hoshino Resorts quality was excellent. One area that may need improvement: there is an inflatable dome for kids to play on in the courtyard (probably visible from all Rooms), which we appreciated, but even around 21:00 there was still a large group playing very loudly. Our family goes to bed early, so it was a bit tough. One more thing: when the kids’ voices finally quieted down, loud jazz-like lounge music started from the same area. I think it’s great atmosphere when you’re listening in the lounge at the end of the building, but in the courtyard where you can hear it directly from your Room… not so much. It would be fine if it ended earlier, but when I asked staff they said it is turned off at 0:00. It might be worth having staff try staying in a Room close to where the courtyard speakers are located. Also, if possible—even if it’s in a separate building—having a large public bath would make this place even better. This Review ended up sounding like complaints, but overall RISONARE is fantastic for families with children. I truly hope it continues for a long time, so I wanted to share what we noticed—sorry if this comes across as pushy.

    The Facility is simp...

The Facility is simply new, and there is nothing particularly unique. It seems to be designed for families with children, so mealtimes (buffet) are very noisy—you can’t enjoy a calm meal. The ocean view overlooking the Kanmon Straits is certainly wonderful, but…

Family-friendly and comfortable for guests with children

The meal Reservation system, including the buffet, was complicated. The main dining offered only one set course, and they said they could not accommodate requests such as removing disliked ingredients, which was disappointing. The response to my inquiry by email in advance was also disappointing. Nice touches like serving appetizers outdoors were appreciated, but overall it did not feel worth the price. The staff were friendly and pleasant. The Room had a great view and was modern, simple, and clean, but there was no space to store clothes, so it wasn’t very practical. The amenities and consumables were high quality and satisfying. The bed was too soft and not very comfortable. Considerations for families—such as the pool, picture-book area, and restaurants—were excellent, making this a very good Hotel for guests with children. On the other hand, it may not be suitable for those who want to enjoy a quiet environment.

    The ocean view is amazing!

A location overlooking the Kanmon Straits in Shimonoseki. You can watch ships passing by from your Room, and at night the view of Mojiko across the water is beautiful. The Italian course menu features innovative, delicious dishes that make great use of the local specialty fugu. The wine and sake pairings are also perfect. A Hotel I’d love to stay at again.

Ideal for a family trip with young children.

The Hotel exterior is very stylish and beautiful. The outdoor garden is a wonderful place to relax. The staff are all young, fresh, and courteous, and the lobby is bright with an excellent location. We reserved a Superior Room two months in advance, but there are two accommodation buildings, and our Room was located between them. Because the neighboring building protrudes in front, the view from the window was partially blocked on the right side, which was disappointing. There is a step along the walkway around the bed area, so we had to be careful not to trip as we are not so young anymore. The infinity pool was very pleasant with seawater at a comfortable temperature. The pool is great for small children. We joined the morning Aqua Walk activity by Reservation and enjoyed a delicious breakfast buffet. The kawara soba and French toast were excellent. The buffet also offered baby food. Overall, I felt this Hotel is well suited for families with small children.

    Satisfied.

It was a wonderful Accommodation that truly made me glad I stayed. 1. Room & Amenities I was informed in advance that there are several steps inside the Room to enjoy the view, so it didn’t cause any issues. The Room was very clean and stylish. I was impressed that the hair dryer was a ReFa. 2. Service The service was polite and attentive. I had no problems and could stay comfortably throughout. Above all, being able to borrow child-related items was extremely helpful. 3. Onsen This is the bath in the Room, and I liked that the tub had a backrest style you can lean against. It was spacious and clean, with no complaints. 4. Facility Everything was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. I expected long waits since it seemed fully booked and there were only three elevators, but perhaps because they were fast, I didn’t feel any stress—impressive. *Just one note:* Regarding the buttons for floors on the opposite side of one elevator entrance: even after getting in and pressing my floor/Room number, an announcement repeatedly played saying it would not stop on that floor... I thought it might require tapping a key card like at some hotels, but there was no reader on that side (there was one on the entrance side), and when it was crowded I couldn’t reach it anyway... While confused, I noticed a sign saying those buttons are for staff only. Of course this is my mistake for not noticing sooner—I’m not complaining—but I would have appreciated clearer signage. 5. Dining We used the buffet. Honestly, it isn’t cheap. However, with so many options including various fugu dishes, I understood why it costs more. The food tasted excellent—far more satisfying than typical Hotel buffets—and we were very happy with it. The seating area is spacious and fine for families with children as well. That said, since it’s not inexpensive at all, you may want to decide based on your group size and what you value (there are family restaurants nearby), whether price or quality matters more to you). If you’re unsure but choose to try it anyway, I don’t think you’ll regret it. 6. Overall We were extremely satisfied overall. Since everything is new, it’s clean and well maintained throughout. It rained so we couldn’t enjoy the view as much as we hoped, but our stay was very relaxing nonetheless. Families with children can stay here with peace of mind (in fact most guests seemed to be families). There’s also an aquarium nearby as well as Karato Market, so you can enjoy yourself before or after your stay too."""
