    It was a wonderful accommodation.

    It was very close to the entrance of Akame 48 Waterfalls, making it extremely convenient for walking and exploring. The building is old, but the furniture and interior are refined and do not feel rustic. The food was also delicious. We went by car, and there is a steep slope in front of the Accommodation, so it’s best to drive carefully there. Some parts of the road on the way are narrow, but they are well maintained, so as long as you watch out for oncoming cars, there should be no problem.

    The cherry blossoms at Takiguchi have completely fallen, and the cold still lingers.

    From Nabari, you drive uphill toward the valley, and the road gradually becomes narrower. The Accommodation is located at the furthest point accessible by car; beyond that begins the Akame 48 Waterfalls walking trail. There is a sufficiently large parking lot. Large buses also come up, but there are a few spots along the way where passing oncoming vehicles may feel tight. It is a large, impressive Accommodation. Although old, it does not feel “run-down” or “deserted.” Several buildings are connected into one by wide corridors. The buildings and gardens—featuring large stones—are carefully arranged on the steep valley slope. The staff are polite, considerate, and attentive. I changed my Reservation in advance by phone from a Japanese-style Room in the annex “Fuin” to a top-floor Room with beds, so this is not an exact Review of what I originally booked. The Room was clean and calm, with no obvious signs of renovation work. Through the wide window, you see greenery and a mountainside still dotted with cherry blossoms; you cannot see the river below. In this Room, it is expected that you do not place wheeled suitcases on the tatami mats. (There is also an expectation at dinner that each guest orders at least one drink.) The large indoor bath and open-air bath were exactly as shown in the website photos; the covered outdoor corridor in those photos is part of the route to the open-air bath. There is also an atmospheric passageway designed like a suspension bridge. Beer after bathing can be purchased either from vending machines or via room service. Meals are served in a spacious restaurant with views of greenery outside. The local craft beer was not to my taste. Breakfast was served in the same restaurant; I sat facing the window. Food impressions are subjective.

    I was surprised by the lack of amenities. It was my first time staying somewhere without any tissues. The in-Room sauna is also very small. It is too small for larger guests to use. It was very disappointing, even though the food was delicious.

    It was very relaxing.

    I stayed here in March. Thank you for letting me park in the lot before check-in, helping with the check-in process, and even storing my luggage. Thanks to you, I was able to enjoy a comfortable walk around Akame Falls. The Onsen was also wonderful, and it left my skin feeling smooth. After the bath, I also enjoyed the welcome drink service—it was truly relaxing. Both dinner and breakfast looked beautiful and tasted excellent; everything was perfect. The one-night stay went by so quickly. Thank you so much to all the staff. Next time, I’d like to visit in autumn to see the fall foliage—though it might be crowded. Thank you again very much.

    A charming Ryokan with exceptionally delicious meals

    I love Onsen trips and have stayed at more than 10 Onsen Ryokan, and the meals here were the best I’ve ever had at any Ryokan! Not only was the Iga beef excellent, but the miso soup at breakfast and the tofu in soy milk broth were also delicious. The portions were just right—not too much or too little—and I was very satisfied. Also, the Room was well equipped with a speaker and a good selection of soft drinks, which made my stay even more enjoyable.

    A friend recommended...

    A friend recommended this Accommodation, and we stayed here as a family. The exterior looks old, but once inside, it opens up into a wonderful space. The guest room had a calm atmosphere, and we were very satisfied. The meals were delicious. I especially liked the seasoning of the simmered dishes. The meat was also excellent. There was a good variety of dishes, and we left feeling full. We would like to visit again.
