    一旅一縁

    We had a relaxing stay.

This was our first stay. My wife had previously come across an article about the restaurant, and by chance we ended up staying here. We often travel to Shikoku, but this place was hard to find—a hideaway-like Accommodation with three buildings—and we arrived with a mix of excitement and nerves. The approach road was a bit nerve-racking too, but the Facility had great taste, and the food was absolutely delicious. I was also curious about Georgian wine, so we tried some and even picked up a bottle on our way home. It was a relaxing space, though I did wish there were a more distinctive view. For some reason I couldn’t sleep well, but we still had a restful time overall. Thank you very much. It’s an Accommodation we’d love to visit again in another season.

    I can’t stop feeling excited…

This Hotel was the very purpose of our trip to Kagawa Prefecture. We didn’t do any sightseeing at all, but from the bottom of my heart I’m so glad we came. Throughout the entire Facility, we could feel the owners’ attention to detail and refined sense of beauty in every corner, and at the same time we were truly grateful for their warm hospitality toward guests. Vintage and modern, Japan and Europe—things that are completely different were seamlessly combined through their sensibility. The interior design, the cuisine, and even its presentation were all wonderful and deeply inspiring. The old sofa in our Room had real character, was very comfortable to sit on, and matched perfectly with the modern furniture. Over time, the linen has developed such a beautiful color! I could really understand why the owner is so particular about that sofa. Also, since I’ve been considering buying the chair at the writing desk myself, I was happy to be able to try how it feels to sit in it. Everything they have selected was fascinating and exciting. Above all, their personalities are wonderful—we definitely want to come back again. (A stylish husband and an adorable wife!!) We’d love to stay in other Rooms as well, and see the garden in a different season too. For us, this was a truly meaningful encounter that brought new insights. With heartfelt thanks—thank you for such a delightful time. We’ll visit again. Please take care!

Thank you to everyone who left a Review

Some time ago, when I was searching for Accommodations in Shikoku and came across this place, I thought the photos looked wonderful and I was interested. However, it’s not exactly in a convenient location (a car is essential, such as taking a taxi), and there wasn’t much information available (few Reviews), so I hesitated at the time. On this trip to Kagawa, I searched again and saw nothing but high ratings. That convinced me to book. It was a lovely place. Thank you to everyone who left Reviews. The garden is beautiful—just looking at it from the Room is a treat. The Room interior is also excellent, with clear attention to detail; it’s the kind of place that makes you think you’d love to live somewhere like this. I enjoyed the luxury of soaking leisurely in the hinoki bath. The only downside is how quickly time passes even so. It’s a place I’d like to visit again.

Without a doubt, the best Accommodation.

A magnificent nagayamon gate, main house, and garden that have been preserved for 200 years. A rice storehouse designated as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property was renovated and opened as a French restaurant in 2005. Since then, the wooded hillside behind has also been developed into an Accommodation. As of May 2026, there are only three Rooms (all separate villas). I had shared my check-in time in advance, and when we arrived by car, the owner’s wife kindly came to greet us at the parking area. To enter the grounds you pass through a grand gate, and they even let us open it ourselves—an experience I’ll never forget! We completed check-in in the spacious main house while enjoying matcha and sweets. The French chef’s skill is outstanding—truly exceptional cuisine using local ingredients and rare produce, blending classic French dishes with subtle Japanese touches. The presentation was beautifully considered; both flavor and appearance were delicate and superb. The wine pairing included seven selections, including dessert wine. These were distinctive natural wines that will surprise even wine lovers—perfect for anyone who wants something beyond standard French labels—and each one paired flawlessly with the food. We stayed in the Room in the “Atsuki Ringoen” building: high, airy ceilings with vivid red apple lights overhead. Impeccably clean—spotless to satisfy even the most particular guest. The amenities and furnishings blend seamlessly with the atmosphere yet are all of high quality. There is no TV, but a modern compact projector is provided to project onto a white wall. The Room also has a terrace; time simply slips by as you relax with greenery and flowers right before you, a gentle breeze, and birdsong. The plants throughout the grounds are carefully maintained. We were told that the pond took several years to create—it felt like a small Monet water-lily scene: Japan’s own Giverny. There is also a stone bench, making even a short stroll wonderfully refreshing. Breakfast is served all at once on an impressive tray—Japanese-style dishes based on local cuisine that are perfect for starting the day. The portions were just right, making for an ideal morning. Above all else, the owners’ warm hospitality—their attentive service, thoughtful words and gestures, and delightful conversation—was truly exceptional. They even saw us off until our car disappeared from view (in tears). The instant photo taken at checkout along with their handwritten letter are now safely kept in our album as treasured mementos. When we visit this area again, we will absolutely return.

    The Best

Simply outstanding. Only three rooms (buildings) on a spacious property. A charming Japanese garden, a beautifully preserved traditional house and a dining room converted from an old rice storehouse, superb French cuisine, and the owner’s thoughtful attention to every detail. Our two-night stay was flawless.

I felt truly healed and refreshed from the bottom of my heart.

The moment you open the gate, you feel as if you’ve stepped into another world—wrapped in a serene, special atmosphere. It was the perfect place to forget the bustle of everyday life and spend time at a relaxed pace. The Room was a warm space beautifully in harmony with nature. Every piece of furnishing was refined and thoughtfully chosen, and it was a joy to discover the attention to detail throughout. The coffee and the chef’s handmade pastries were exceptional as well. At night, soaking in the hinoki cypress bath was deeply soothing. Afterward, I enjoyed herbal tea with music and spent a truly luxurious time. Watching a starry sky projected overhead while lying in bed was pure bliss—I felt so comfortable that I didn’t want to leave. Breakfast was visually stunning and delicately flavored, yet it left me with a nostalgic warmth that stayed with me. In the center of the Japanese-style dining room, a grand piano and antique chairs added even more elegance to the space. Above all, I was moved by the warm, attentive hospitality of the owner and his wife. Thank you for such an enjoyable stay—it became a wonderful final memory of my trip. Next time, I’d love to climb Mount Kamisayama. I would definitely like to return again to reset both mind and body.

We visited after reading the Reviews. There is no TV. Coffee is limited to a single exquisite cup. Yet spending time in a spotless Room, surrounded by carefully selected furniture and decor, was surprisingly comforting. We feel we experienced the ideal hospitality of the owner couple. We thought we had stayed at many Accommodations, but this place offered a different world. Even after returning home, we enjoyed the warm afterglow for quite some time. Next time, we plan to visit in a different season. This time we were blessed with good weather and were able to see a beautiful starry sky.

The best Accommodation of my life, where I felt the warmth of the people

First of all, thank you very much. We will definitely come back and stay again. We stayed here to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Of all the Accommodations we’ve stayed at, this was the best— that’s honestly how we felt. If you found this Accommodation by instinct, you have great taste. Book now. A main house that has stood since the Edo period and a modern guest building. Art throughout and a quiet, calming atmosphere. The craftsmanship of the house, the furniture—everything shows true attention to detail. And the wonderful couple (the owners) served an outstanding dinner and breakfast. Truly, everything was exceptional. Impeccable taste. Above all, we felt genuine warmth from people here. The kind and lovely owners welcome you with open hearts. If you want to relax in Kagawa, this is the only choice.

An Accommodation You Should Visit Now in Takamatsu, Kagawa

After seeing the photos on IKYU.com, if you thought, “This looks great” or “How lovely,” you’re absolutely right! That alone is more than enough reason to book. I felt the same way. About a 15-minute drive from Takamatsu-Chuo IC or Busshozan Station, yet surrounded by surprisingly abundant nature, this Accommodation sits in a quiet serenity far removed from the bustle. The owner-chef’s sensibility shines through in the captivating interior styling, furnishings, and playful touches—how much you resonate with them will make your time at Tomari Itsuhaku Juuu even more meaningful. Simply enjoying the comfort and richness of nature, or doing nothing at all and just relaxing, is happiness in itself. We highly recommend staying on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday when dinner is available! Dinner is Western cuisine with French training behind it, and breakfast features gentle flavors that truly nourish the body— both are wonderful. It won me over completely (including my appetite). There’s no Onsen on site, but you can enjoy a luxurious moment in the hinoki bath. Pair your stay with a visit to nearby Busshozan Onsen—one of Shikoku’s lesser-known great hot springs— and your trip will feel even more fulfilling. I’ve said a lot, but in truth, the greatest charm of this Accommodation may be the warm personalities of the owner-chef couple.

    Relax in a historic building!

This is a truly stylish and wonderful Accommodation that makes the most of a historic building. We were able to relax and unwind at a very leisurely pace. We could forget the busyness of everyday life for a while and enjoy a truly happy time. The chef and his wife’s warm personalities were also very soothing. The Room interior was refined and extremely comfortable. Even the extension cord was stylish—I’d like to buy one online next time! The coffee and tea in the Room were delicious as well. The meals were outstanding—not only in flavor, but with meticulous attention even to the choice of tableware—so we felt excited every time a dish was brought out. The chef and his wife’s careful explanations alongside each course made it even more enjoyable. The bath is a spacious bathroom surrounded by the scent of hinoki cypress. The bathrobes are thick and very comfortable to wear. The pajamas are easy to wear, too. A place where history and modern style coexist—somewhere we definitely want to stay again!!

    It was a wonderful accommodation.

A few years ago, my wife and I started traveling to places we had never been by car during our free time while we are still healthy. We visit Shikoku once a year for New Year's visits, and this time we decided to stay at Gofujyu-u for the first time. From start to finish, it was an overwhelming experience of joy. Everything was perfect and wonderful. One small request: since we visited on a very cold day, it would be great if the room heating could be prepared in advance. However, the warmth of the owners' hearts immediately reached us, warming our spirits as well. I believe this accommodation will soon become one that is hard to book, so I plan to return early! Thank you very much to the lovely owners!

The beauty of the garden and the Room goes without saying, along with delicious meals and attentive hospitality, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The seamless blend of historical architecture with modern elements might be thanks to the personal touch of the owners. This time, we stayed as three families, and everyone mentioned on our way back that they would love to visit again. We may have caused some inconvenience, but we hope to visit again soon.

I stayed at the accommodation for a special day with my girlfriend. The entire check-in process, from the entrance to the room approach, welcome service, and being guided through the garden to our room, was highly satisfying. (I was amazed to hear that the garden was personally created by the owner.) While walking through the property and building on our way to the room allowed us to fully enjoy its potential, inside the room we could feel attention to detail in every aspect—from fixtures and paintings to furniture—all reflecting the owner's dedication. Soaking in a hinoki bath while listening to rain sounds through an open window made time feel as though it flowed slowly and peacefully. Additionally, I am deeply grateful for how willingly the owner assisted me in planning a surprise for my girlfriend—it became a truly special memory. Although we only had breakfast this time due to other dinner plans, it was incredibly delicious; I would love to try dinner next time as well. Each room seems unique with different concepts and layouts, so I definitely look forward to visiting again!

Udon is great, but how about coming here?

A lovely accommodation run by a wonderful couple. Every detail of the room is thoughtfully designed, making it photo-worthy from the start. Birds, apples, games, movies, tea snacks—everything was enjoyable, including the bath. Each dish was incredibly delicious... But what surprised me most was the breakfast. I've found an accommodation I want to recommend to friends and visit again!

The hospitality of the couple was exceptional.

The host of this accommodation is a chef, so the cuisine was, of course, excellent. The attention to detail in the room's interior design was also remarkable. However, what stood out the most was the couple's genuine hospitality and care for their guests. I look forward to visiting again when the seasons change. Thank you very much!

    Thank you.

A peaceful and serene place. We had a wonderfully relaxing time, thanks to the warm hospitality of the owner couple. Even a sudden dinner reservation and small thoughtful gestures were kindly accommodated by the owner's wife. The accommodation, meticulously designed by the owner, features a cypress bath, round geta sandals, and no TV but instead a projector for entertainment. Even details like light switches are impressive. The main building retains its 200-year-old charm while being beautifully renovated. Walking through its entrance and gazing at the garden brings peace of mind. At the restaurant, which was converted from an old rice storehouse, we enjoyed delicious French cuisine prepared by the owner-chef. Breakfast was filled with comforting homemade flavors with just the right seasoning. Words cannot fully describe this experience—please visit and hear stories from this wonderful couple yourself! Since they manage everything themselves, find some free time in their schedule to chat with them. I’d love to visit again during another season! Highly recommended for those seeking a truly relaxing stay at this charming accommodation!

We stayed here for a family trip. At the time of reservation, we received detailed advice over the phone and were looking forward to our stay. Despite our late arrival, we were warmly welcomed and accommodated with kindness. The meals and the beautifully designed space by the owners allowed us, including our children, to relax throughout our stay. Above all, we were touched by the owners' kindness and thoughtfulness, which made for a truly pleasant experience. This is an accommodation I would recommend to anyone. For those driving, please note that there are narrow roads leading up to the location just before arrival; it’s best to arrive before sunset with some extra time in hand. Breakfast is served later in the morning, so take your time and enjoy a leisurely departure instead of rushing in the morning. It’s a place I’d love to visit again!

If you're visiting Kagawa, this is the perfect place to stay.

My first visit to Kagawa was unforgettable, all thanks to this wonderful accommodation. From the outside, it’s surprisingly unassuming, which amazed me at first. But once you step through the gate, it feels like an entirely different world. The place is clean, quiet, with beautiful stars in the night sky, and every dish from start to finish was absolutely delicious. The furniture and tableware were carefully selected and truly charming. I was thrilled to try on round geta sandals that are hard to come by—I regret not asking where they were from (haha). The owner couple were incredibly lovely people. Thank you so much! I want to go back right now!!!

    It was a wonderful space.

We stayed for one night on the first day of our family trip to Kagawa. At first, we had a bit of trouble finding the entrance, but that’s because this accommodation blends so well with the surrounding nature and historic buildings. The building, garden, and room were filled with furnishings that captivated us—ranging from historical pieces to stylish modern designs thoughtfully curated with care. Due to our schedule, we only had breakfast during our stay, but it was made with healthy ingredients and perfectly seasoned. We enjoyed it in a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Although the main purpose of our trip was after check-out, honestly speaking, staying here on the first day became the highlight of our journey (laughs). We were also fortunate to have a leisurely conversation with the owner couple—it was such a delightful experience. Since we haven’t had dinner here yet, we hope to visit again when an opportunity arises. Highly recommended for those who want to spend time surrounded by nature at their own pace!

    A wonderful accommodation.

The three villas, filled with the chef's passion, blend beautifully with handcrafted spacious gardens. Mornings in the serene nature are refreshing, offering a space to relax on the terrace while listening to birdsong. Dinner showcases the chef's exceptional skills, providing a satisfying experience down to every detail of the tableware. The chef’s wife is bright and considerate, and together they create a unique atmosphere that defines this accommodation. This Japanese auberge combines a 200-year-old building with new gardens that continue to grow harmoniously. Bonus: The refrigerator cooling was weak, so it would be great if its settings could be adjusted for better drink chilling.

A blend of 200 years of history and modernity

After navigating and finally discovering the small signboard of "Gofujuu," you are greeted by a historic stone wall and gate, showcasing nearly two centuries of history. The nameplate only displays the host's name, leaving you momentarily uncertain if this is indeed your accommodation for the night. Soon after, the host couple warmly welcomes you, putting your worries to rest. The owner shares his fascinating story about inheriting the main house where he was born and renovating an old storehouse into a restaurant. He also developed three accommodation facilities by clearing bamboo groves on the property behind the estate. Check-in takes place in a room within the main house overlooking an inner garden adorned with flowers, trees, and a pond. You are served matcha tea and delicious sweets upon arrival. In one of its rooms featuring traditional Japanese architecture with a hearth inlaid into the floor, it feels like it could be used for tea ceremonies. To reach your accommodation building, you walk through the garden as guided by staff. The building features carefully selected keys, geta sandals, furniture pieces, and decor items that reflect attention to detail. The toilet is modern with unique features while maintaining harmony with traditional aesthetics; meanwhile, they mention that their Japanese-style bathtub is made from Canadian cypress wood. Dinner is French-inspired cuisine prepared by the host himself who humbly describes it as self-taught but impresses nonetheless with visually stunning dishes highlighting fresh ingredients' flavors. Breakfast consists of traditional Japanese dishes reminiscent of childhood meals prepared by mothers—served on large trays filled with numerous small plates offering variety. With just 20 hours spent here during your stay at this relaxing auberge-style accommodation—it’s certainly worth revisiting!

    A refined and tranquil space.

We stayed as a couple. Not only was the cuisine exceptional, but we were also deeply impressed by the artwork and furniture carefully selected by the discerning owner-chef. The space, featuring pieces like George Nakashima's Minguren II coffee table and armchair, as well as Louis Poulsen's NJP Floor lamp, is a dream for interior design enthusiasts (room decor varies by room). While the bath is not an onsen, it offers a relaxing experience with its hinoki wood tub in a Towada stone-tiled bathroom that feels like an open-air bath when you fully open the windows. No Meals Included options are available, but we highly recommend this high-quality and relaxing auberge.
