It was a truly wonderful accommodation.

After check-out, the head chef offered freshly baked croissants, saying, “Please enjoy!” I was truly touched by this thoughtful gesture. They also upgraded our Room, and we were able to spend a very relaxing and elegant time. The food was extremely delicious, but there were too many dishes, and it was a shame that we couldn’t finish about two of them. This is an Accommodation I would definitely like to visit again. Mi-chan was adorable, and the ducks that came out to see us off were also incredibly cute.

A cozy Accommodation surrounded by nature

This Accommodation features only 10 detached villas, surrounded by rice fields and the deep green of the mountains. You’ll be welcomed by Mi-chan, our resident cat, along with the friendly Kamo team. In the open-air bath attached to your Room, you might even be greeted by a tiny Japanese tree frog—small enough to fit on your fingertip. The meals are delicious and perfectly portioned. All staff were warm and welcoming, making our stay truly comfortable. We’ll definitely be back!

    Service and Room Information

What stood out most was the hospitality at this Accommodation. Recently, service by foreign staff has increased significantly, and I have felt there is a big difference between Accommodations that provide thorough training and those that do not. At this Accommodation, the service from both the Japanese staff and the slightly inexperienced foreign staff was excellent. It is hard to put into words, but it was natural hospitality that made us feel warm and relaxed, away from the bustle of the city. Regarding the Room, both the Japanese-style room and the Western-style (bed) room had no sofa. Especially in the Japanese-style room, I felt we could have relaxed more if there had been a sofa. Sitting on the floor in a Japanese-style room is actually tiring, making it uncomfortable to read quietly or watch TV. There is a single-seat hammock-like chair in the Western-style room, though. Also, while there are two chairs on the veranda, it can be too hot outside at times, so it is not something you can use all day every day.

    I gifted this Accomm...

I gifted this Accommodation to my grandparents to celebrate their 80th birthday. They had a wonderful trip and were truly delighted, saying that the Ryokan’s meals, hospitality, and Onsen became cherished lifelong memories for them both. Thank you very much for your thoughtful care in helping them enjoy a comfortable stay.

A quiet community nestled in the heart of nature.

Despite the light rain, a staff member welcomed us at the parking lot and kindly guided us through everything. Along the way, we were greeted by turtles, cats, and ducks, which quickly eased our child’s nerves and helped us forget the fatigue of traveling. When we arrived at our Room, they had thoughtfully prepared amenities for our 3-year-old, so we were able to stay in complete comfort. Then it was straight to the Onsen! The silky-smooth water left everyone’s skin feeling wonderfully soft. And the food was delicious—we finished every last bite. Since it was late May, fireflies lit up the night, and listening to the gentle stream made for a perfect evening cool-down. The next morning brought more warm hospitality, and they even took a commemorative photo for us before we left. Unlike the previous day, it was beautifully sunny, and we felt energized by the magnificent mountains of Minami Aso.

Relax and unwind at your own pace.

I had been wanting to stay at an Accommodation in Aso, so I made a Reservation and went. It’s in a quiet area with nothing around, which was exactly what I was looking for. The Room also had an open-air bath, so I could truly relax. The meals were all made with local ingredients and were delicious. I ordered horse sashimi as an extra, and it was surprisingly far better than what I’d had at a horse-meat restaurant in the city. I was told some guests come specifically for it, so I recommend requesting the extra horse sashimi. I stayed in a tatami-style Room this time, but next time I’d like to try the Room with a sofa. A warm welcome from Mi-chan the cat. Feeding the ducks was very soothing.

    I was very satisfied.

<Guest Room> We stayed one night in a mountain-view Room overlooking the Aso mountains. The ever-changing scenery and the spotless, beautifully maintained Room allowed us to truly relax in both body and mind. <Service> Every staff member we met was kind, gentle, and welcoming, which made us feel genuinely cared for. They not only greeted us on arrival but also saw us off together at departure, which meant a lot to us. <Onsen> There is no large public bath; instead, our Room had a semi-open-air bath. Even from there, we could enjoy beautiful views of the Aso mountain range. The water temperature was slightly lukewarm, so we could soak slowly and comfortably while taking in the scenery. <Facility> Because all Rooms are in separate villas, we were able to spend our time quietly without worrying about others around us. The lovely flowers in the garden and the ducks freely wandering about were also wonderfully soothing. <Dining> From the fully private dining room, we could see the Kaguraden hall. The meal pacing was perfectly timed as well, making for an exceptionally comfortable dining experience. The tableware and presentation were beautiful, and every dish was delicious—we finished everything. When we mentioned how surprisingly good the pickles were, a staff member told us they are made by the head chef. We also received bread at check-out that is baked by the head chef. We enjoyed it at an observation deck near Daikanbo Peak—it was unforgettable. Everything about our stay felt comfortable from start to finish, making this Accommodation truly unforgettable for us. This time it was only one night, but next time we would love to return for a Multiple Night Stay. Thank you very much for such a wonderful time.

    A Relaxing Accommodation

Unfortunately, it rained that day, so we changed our plans, enjoyed strawberry picking together, and headed to the Accommodation in a better mood. Because we moved our schedule up, we arrived an hour before check-in. However, the staff member who assisted us said, “We’ll prepare your Room as soon as possible,” and just as promised, they let us into our Room more than 30 minutes early. We heard the Accommodation was built on the former site of a carp farm. Carp still swim in the pond today, and adorable ducks also welcome you. There’s also a mascot cat named Mi-chan. This time we stayed in the Room called “Rindo.” From the Room we could see part of majestic Aso and enjoy a nostalgic Japanese countryside view—it was very calming. The Onsen is a simple spring, and the open-air bath in the Room was spacious enough to relax comfortably. Dinner started with appetizers, including something called konnyaku sushi. When I tried it, I found that what would normally be rice was actually inari-style seasoned rice (like for inari sushi), while what would usually be fried tofu had been replaced with konnyaku—delicious. Next came clear soup, then trout carpaccio, Akaushi beef grilled on a ceramic plate, and finally shiratama zenzai for dessert. Every dish was gently seasoned and felt light and easy to enjoy. Breakfast was hearty overall, with an additional salad bar and soup curry available. There were several drink options as well; I had milk, which was exceptionally good. Since we woke up early, we took a walk around the Accommodation together. Walking through the rustic scenery while hearing skylarks singing made us feel that spring had arrived. After breakfast as we were heading back to our Room, a staff member asked if we’d like to feed the ducks and handed us some feed. The ducks must be used to it—they came right over—and when we fed them from our palms they ate skillfully. My wife tried to copy me but laughed saying “Ouch!” because they nipped her lightly at first. The staff included both Japanese and Nepalese team members; everyone was friendly and cheerful with pleasant service that allowed us to truly unwind at ease throughout our stay. Finally when leaving the Accommodation، one of them gave us “homemade bread,” which turned out to be an incredibly delicious croissant。 Thank you for everything。
