A Beautiful Accommodation in Satoyama with Natural Hot Springs, an Open-Air Bath, and Architectural Elegance
What’s fascinating about Nana’s philosophy is how deliberately it reduces “information density.” Even with just a one-night stay, I could clearly feel the Accommodation’s concept: 1) No excessive signage or posters inside 2) No filling the space with background music 3) Avoiding harsh lighting 4) Minimizing digital noise as much as possible Through the space, sound, light, and service, it conveyed the idea that “silence isn’t emptiness—it’s a state where only what’s necessary remains.” The staff were outstanding from the moment I pulled into the parking area until they saw me off the next morning. I believe this reflects an intentional design by the owners (a couple): creating a place to Clear people’s senses. 5) The main focus is not “people,” but “place” and “nature” → Prioritizing “what you feel” over “who made it.” 6) A commitment to completing the Accommodation as a “work” → Only three rooms; no adding more Facility features. No indiscriminate advertising. → A mindset of “only those who understand need to come,” aligned with traditional house restoration values. You could say this is for travelers whose purpose is to feel restored and re-centered: 7) Your body resets in the Onsen 8) Your senses reset through fire and food 9) Your mind resets through satoyama landscapes and an old folk house → Redefining travel from consumption to renewal. As tools for restoration, it offers free-flowing natural hot spring water, silence, an aesthetic space, and an Accommodation with high experiential value. → Not just “staying overnight,” but a trip where something changes. Nana’s philosophy feels almost perfectly aligned—its ideas and their realization overlap naturally. Among all the places I’ve stayed in Japan over the past few years, this was the best. In other words, choosing Nana—even for just one night—as a journey to re-center my senses and experience it as a complete work turned out exactly right. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

Everything was excellent except for dinner time.
The Onsen features a hot and strong saline spring, with a continuous flow directly from the source. The view from the open-air bath is stunning. The Kuri Room is a stylish maisonette type, offering a comfortable stay. Dinner was unique and enjoyable, featuring local game meat and grilled vegetables that are hard to find elsewhere. However, the dinner took 3 hours and 10 minutes, which felt excessively long. There was too much delay between clearing plates and serving the next dish. It would be better to streamline the service so that dinner can be completed within two hours at most; otherwise, it cuts into time for relaxing in the room or enjoying the Onsen. As for breakfast rice cooked in an iron pot—a highlight of your service—it should be served piping hot with a glossy texture to match its appeal. While presenting it from a large pot adds charm, improving its quality would enhance guest satisfaction further.

Everything is excellent.
We stayed in February to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday as a couple in our 20s. First, we were picked up at Kenrokuen and taken to the accommodation. The atmosphere from the entrance was great. The entire accommodation had underfloor heating, so even though it was February, it was warm enough to stay comfortably in light clothing. The room had very high ceilings and felt spacious. The highlight was definitely the open-air bath connected to the bathroom; it was amazing! It happened to be snowy weather, and although it rained on that day, raindrops lightly fell while soaking in the bath, making it an enjoyable experience where we could stay for a long time. As for meals, I usually don't find hotel food satisfying, but this place exceeded expectations! All dishes were made with local ingredients and creatively prepared—there wasn't anything that tasted ordinary or generic. Personally loving game meat, I found their wild boar dish incredibly tender without any distinctive odor—it left me deeply impressed by its deliciousness. Both the accommodation and meals were photogenic and video-worthy—a truly ideal place! - The only downside: Despite being February, there were an overwhelming number of bugs—specifically stink bugs... They weren't just a few; they could be seen everywhere throughout the property. In particular, there were an astonishing number of stink bugs inside our room—we ended up removing at least 30 of them ourselves... When making coffee using the coffee maker provided in our room, one stink bug even fell into it... No matter how many we removed with tape or other means—they kept appearing and flying around inside—making us feel unable to sleep there comfortably anymore. We decided late at night to leave early for another hotel downtown instead—and missed out on having breakfast at this accommodation. While informing staff about these issues (the excessive presence of stink bugs preventing us from staying overnight properly), their response acknowledged some occurrence but didn’t offer much resolution beyond saying "Sorry." Additionally disappointing was being charged extra fees related directly towards extending checkout times despite such circumstances causing inconvenience already experienced firsthand during stay itself… Had I known beforehand about such severe infestation levels present here—I wouldn’t have booked accommodations altogether otherwise! Everything else aside though—the rest truly stood out positively overall nonetheless!

The meals were delicious. Unfortunately, it was far from the city center, so I couldn't go to eat crab.

Worth visiting in every season.
We were the only guests staying, and we were kindly upgraded to the Keyaki Room. (They even gave us a courteous confirmation call in advance.) The Keyaki Room has high ceilings and a spacious atmosphere. Without a TV, we enjoyed playing relaxing music through the room's speakers, making for an incredibly luxurious experience. The private open-air cypress Onsen attached to the room had perfect water temperature, allowing us to soak leisurely. Although I usually have trouble sleeping, thanks to the Onsen's effects, I slept soundly both that night and the following night. It also seemed beneficial for dry skin. For dinner, all dishes made with local ingredients were delicious. The Kobako Crab Ochazuke was particularly unique and delightful. Breakfast included Kanazawa Oden with whelk and wheat gluten, which made me very happy. Despite temperatures being as cold as January’s average, every part of the facility was warm and comfortable. The staff members were kind and attentive throughout our stay. It was also great that early check-in or late check-out options were available as an add-on service. Thank you very much!

We look forward to welcoming you again!
Onsen, delicious meals, and the warm hospitality of a lovely couple made for an absolutely wonderful stay. Located about 30 minutes by car from Kanazawa, they also offer a reasonably priced Shuttle Service, making it a fantastic option after sightseeing in Kanazawa. The Onsen is authentic with an amazing free-flowing hot spring bath, and the heartfelt and delicious cuisine is something you should definitely enjoy on an empty stomach. As others have mentioned, I also found this Accommodation by chance on IKYU.com while searching for "natural free-flowing hot springs with open-air baths." I feel lucky to have discovered it. This Accommodation is highly recommended for those who want to relax quietly while enjoying views of the countryside. I look forward to visiting again!

Overall, it is a wonderful accommodation!
Thank you for your hospitality. It was my first visit, and overall, I think it is a wonderful accommodation. However, there are a few points I found a bit unfortunate that I would like to mention. First, regarding the check-in and check-out times (16:00 and 10:00), it felt rushed upon arrival and departure. It would be great if there were an option to extend these times for an additional fee. Also, the dinner was very delicious with generous portions; however, the overall dining time was quite long (starting at 18:00 and ending at 21:00). Although room service was available, the last order time being at 21:00 meant we couldn’t place any orders afterward. It would be appreciated if either the portion size could be reduced or the serving time shortened to about two hours or if the last order time could be extended. In comparison to dinner’s volume, breakfast felt compact in size. While we enjoyed rice cooked in a traditional pot with plenty of servings provided, there weren’t enough side dishes to accompany it all; as a result, we couldn’t finish all of our rice despite its deliciousness—it felt wasteful. That said, all staff members were very pleasant and accommodating; both the room and bath were excellent! If given another opportunity in the future, I’d love to visit again. The commemorative photo service upon departure also delighted our children greatly—thank you so much!

The meals are incredibly delicious. The open-air bath was also very relaxing.
Stayed one night in a Room with an open-air bath. The dinner served at night was very delicious. The service was extremely polite. The open-air bath attached to the Room was spacious enough to stretch out and had the perfect water temperature, allowing for a relaxing time. I was a bit surprised there was no TV, but it wasn’t an issue for me as I enjoyed a peaceful stay. I would love to visit again when traveling to the Hokuriku area.

Enjoy grilled local ingredients in a stylish traditional house in the mountains.
I spontaneously decided to visit Kanazawa for the first time in a while during the long weekend. Wanting to stay somewhere other than a hotel in the city, I searched on IKYU's site and found onsen & garden Nanana. It took 30-40 minutes by local bus from Kanazawa Station, and I arrived at a quaint old house with only three rooms. However, the interior was completely renovated and had a very stylish atmosphere. I immediately enjoyed two types of baths and felt relaxed. The dinner, featuring grilled local ingredients, included rare vegetables, wild boar, Noto pork, and free-range chicken from Fukui, allowing me to try things I had never tasted before. Although I'm not particular about food, I was quite impressed (the portion was a bit too much for me, and I was mentally impressed while holding my full stomach). The surrounding area is a rather ordinary rural mountain landscape, but that's precisely why it's so calming. I also appreciated the eco-friendly systems implemented in addition to the amenities in this nature-surrounded environment. I plan to visit again with my family next time. It seems like it will become a favorite property. I'm grateful to IKYU's site for leading me to this wonderful encounter.
