We stayed as a family of three for one night with breakfast in a Room with an open-air bath. The front desk service was good, the Room was clean, and it was comfortable. However, when we filled the open-air bath to use it, there were 4–5 hairs floating in the water and the tub felt slimy, which made us feel it had not been properly cleaned—very disappointing. The public bath and meals were neither particularly good nor bad, and nothing stood out as especially positive. Considering the Accommodation Fee, everything felt overpriced. We did not feel we would stay again next time.

I chose this place mainly for the food based on online photos, but it was different from what I expected. Breakfast in particular was a buffet—something you can find anywhere. We were hoping for a relaxed trip as mature travelers. Given the price, it would be preferable to provide private dining rooms. The Room was spacious and nice with an open-air bath, but I was disappointed with the meals I had been looking forward to most (especially the breakfast buffet). They should always show current, real images.

The staff’s warm hospitality is wonderful. Although it’s a place that can be difficult to visit, this Accommodation makes you want to come back again.

Thank you for the staff’s thoughtful care.
Not only were the ingredients excellent, but the cooking was outstanding as well. Since it was the rainy season, I wasn’t expecting to see a sunset, but during dinner on our second night a staff member told us, “I’m sorry to interrupt your meal, but if you’d like, you can step outside to watch the sun set.” We went out in our slippers and were thrilled to catch the sunset—many thanks for the staff’s kindness.

I think I may have expected too much…
Since I chose a “Room assigned on arrival” plan, I understand it can’t be helped, but because I had checked the website, I didn’t expect there to be such a small Room. If all Room types were shown on the website, I could have been mentally prepared. The website only featured larger Rooms, so I didn’t know smaller Rooms were available. Honestly, my expectations were too high and I was disappointed. That said, all staff were very warm and kind, and I truly appreciate it. However, since I always carefully choose the Hotel and Room when traveling—and this time I brought my parents as well—I regret it a little.

Very disappointing
A renovated ryokan with an awkward and impractical room lacking any sense of luxury. Despite staying on the last day of a holiday weekend, the price was over 50,000 yen per night. The much-anticipated private open-air bath in the room was a letdown as it required manually filling with water and was not sourced from natural hot springs. Additionally, there was no washing area, so I had to wash in the indoor bath, walk through the tatami room to reach the terrace for the open-air bath—hardly what I would call a "room with an open-air bath." It left me feeling disappointed as it did not match my expectations. The meals featured fresh fish but had an overwhelming amount of sashimi. There were no abalone, shrimp, or crab as expected, and only a small portion of roast beef for meat dishes—very disappointing. Breakfast lacked any fruit entirely. At this price point, I would never stay here again.

Includes an open-air bath.
The renovated room was clean, and the view from the balcony was excellent. The open-air bath was nice, but it would have been better if it were an Onsen. The open-air bath in the large public bath area was small and lacked privacy as it was visible from the garden. For women, there is a privacy screen for safety, but this means there is no view. The food featured many fish dishes, which is expected given its location by the Sea of Japan; however, the cooking methods were simple and lacked uniqueness. Ending with roast beef felt mismatched, and unfortunately, I couldn't enjoy what I had hoped would be delicious Niigata rice—it wasn't appetizing enough to finish my meal. The breakfast buffet also had a limited selection of items. Considering a price of nearly 130,000 yen for two people on weekdays, it felt questionable in terms of value for money. That said, being suitable for groups meant that activities like night tours with illuminations, Sado Okesa dance performances, live saxophone music at night were very enjoyable. The staff's hospitality and service were excellent!

Close to the sea with beautiful views
The staff's service is dedicated and excellent. The meals use high-quality ingredients. Being close to the sea, the sunset view was stunning.

It's rare to enjoy swimming in the sea while staying in the shade!
During the Obon season in August, I visited the sea in front of the hotel after 4 PM. Thanks to the shadows created by the rocky area during that time, even someone like me who dislikes sunburn could enjoy entering the sea, which was truly impressive. While snorkeling, I spotted schools of fish and about three sea urchins in holes among the rocks. Since this area is exclusive to accommodation guests, it felt very safe. However, please note that the seaside is not a sandy beach but a rugged rocky area, so caution is needed. The accommodation facilities are new and very clean, providing great comfort. Each guest receives two bath towels and one large towel for their room use; additionally, fresh large towels are available every time at the public bathhouse for convenience. At the open-air bath of the public bathhouse, passersby can be seen from outside; therefore, it's recommended to cover yourself with a bath towel when moving around. As long as you keep this in mind, you can fully enjoy its liberating atmosphere—it’s fantastic. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious without exception. During dinner time when sunset approached, staff kindly informed us so we could step out onto the lawn still wearing slippers to capture photos of breathtaking scenes where sunlight sank into ocean horizons—a thoughtful gesture that left an impression on me. Dancing Sado Okesa together in circles at lobby events or taking illuminated night tours via bus along with listening live saxophone performances became cherished memories too! Participating actively throughout all these activities made my stay busy yet incredibly enjoyable from check-in till checkout! Hotel staff work diligently overall; however communication issues arose during check-in due primarily because Japanese spoken explanations weren’t clear enough (based upon personal interpretation). Several moments passed debating whether switching over English explanations might help resolve confusion better though unsure if such option existed here officially either way eventually managed somehow despite challenges faced initially regarding language barriers encountered firsthand especially concerning travel duration queries posed next morning towards Ogi Port estimated wrongly given "45 minutes" instead actual correct timing listed online homepage stating "1 hour". Thankfully avoided missing ferry narrowly realizing discrepancy beforehand ultimately understanding no ill intent behind miscommunication occurred genuinely appreciating efforts made foreign employees striving hard adapting unfamiliar environment commendably suggesting perhaps hiring temporary seasonal students fluent native speakers handling similar tasks future peak holiday periods alleviate potential misunderstandings further improving guest experiences alike seamlessly altogether positively enhancing overall impressions fondly remembered long afterward undoubtedly recommending wholeheartedly others seeking memorable stays planning return visits ideally extending multiple-night stays exploring beautiful Sado Island thoroughly enriched fulfilling journeys ahead assuredly guaranteed satisfaction beyond expectations fulfilled completely satisfied entirely delighted immensely grateful sincerely appreciative warmly recommended highly valued treasured unforgettable exceptional accommodations indeed!

It would be better if meals could be enjoyed in a more relaxed setting. With so many guests, it feels like dining in a food court, which does not seem worth the price. The Room and bath are clean, but perhaps due to renovations, there are many steps, and I almost tripped several times.

A Hotel for Family Fun
The hotel offers many free activities that families can enjoy, such as live performances of Sado Okesa (with guidance available), live saxophone music, night bus tours, morning yoga, and table tennis. It's been a while since I stayed at a hotel or Ryokan where table tennis was free. Surprisingly, the Onsen (large public bath) wasn't crowded, allowing for a relaxing experience. It was my first time visiting Sado Island, but it turned out to be such an enjoyable trip that I would love to visit again. However, I was disappointed with the outdated handwashing area in the room's toilet and the broken keys on the electronic piano in the lobby meant for guests to play freely—it was essentially unplayable. In its current state, it might be better not to have it there at all.

Thank you very much.
It was my first sightseeing trip to Sado. The scenery was wonderful, and I enjoyed the delicious fish dishes. However, I was a bit disappointed that the roast beef at the end was served with rice, which didn’t pair well. I hope the timing of serving can be reconsidered. Although it was advertised as an ocean view, it turned out to be in an older building, so I should have considered this when making the Reservation. It would have been helpful to have more explanation about this aspect.

The Facility is designed with a highly appealing style, featuring thoughtful touches such as event services and a lounge within the premises. Both breakfast and dinner were of high quality in terms of both quantity and taste, making for an excellent dining experience. The large public bath was clean, with great water quality. While the recognition as a World Heritage Site provides an advantage, the challenges posed by its remote island location and harsh winter climate limit the tourist season. Despite these difficulties, I sincerely hope that this level of service can be maintained moving forward. Lastly, thank you to the Nepalese trainee (apologies if they are a full-time staff member) who provided warm and refreshing service during dinner—it was greatly appreciated!
