    What a surprise—it's just us!

    Although there was the Kumamoto earthquake, there was no damage in Tamana Onsen, so we stayed as planned without contacting the Accommodation. My companion arrived late due to an errand, so I checked in alone. There were about three cars in the parking lot, so I thought there were other guests. However, everyone had canceled and it ended up being only us. It almost felt like we were inconveniencing them by being the only party. The Room was nice and cool with the air conditioning on, which was great. The meal was a summer version and we enjoyed it—it was delicious. This time I drank too much alcohol. I’d like to stay again if I have the chance.

    Free-flowing hot spring water and an à la carte buffet.

    There was no Onsen in the Room, but there was a private, free-flowing hot spring bath exclusively for our Room on the second floor, available 24 hours a day. The water was excellent, and I ended up soaking many times. Since it wasn’t a reservable private bath that requires checking availability, it was very convenient. The meals were served as an à la carte buffet, and every dish was delicious. I especially like appetizers, so I ordered drinks and appetizer dishes several times. I plan to visit again soon.

    Thank you.

    We stayed to celebrate a birthday anniversary. The hot spring water was excellent, and the amenities were well stocked. In the bathroom refrigerator, there were small sherbet treats (for heatstroke prevention?), along with water and tea. At dinner, there was a surprise that made us very happy, and we were able to spend this special time in a meaningful way. Thank you very much.

    I would like to stay here again.

    The Onsen water quality in Tamana is gentle, and I’ve liked it for a long time. Since COVID, I’ve only stayed at Hotels with private Onsen baths. However, lately I’d started to get a bit tired of typical Hotel meals. In that respect, I really like Kura no Sato’s dining style, where you can choose what you want to eat and the amount you want at the time. Last time we stayed in a Room with a semi-open-air bath, but this time we had a Room that allowed us to use a private family bath. The family bath is spacious, and I thought it was really nice as well. I’d like to visit again in a different season. If I had one request, I’d be happy if you could offer a few more Tamana souvenirs for sale.

    It was great.

    I had made several Reservations but had to Cancel the Reservation due to my circumstances, and on the third try I was finally able to stay. It was unfortunately raining at check-in, and even though the staff came to greet us at the parking lot, we caused trouble by taking too long in the car. The Room was clean. The sofa wasn’t comfortable for sitting for a long time, so I lay down instead. For dinner, I ate a light lunch beforehand. There were many dishes, but I ordered only what I liked and ended up full. Neither of us drinks alcohol much, so we only had something like plum wine. It was great that we could use the Onsen without worrying about time. Both my spouse and I have broken legs, so it was inconvenient getting into the Onsen because there were no handrails. The shower water pressure was weak, so rinsing my hair took time. The provided shampoo made my hair feel squeaky and unpleasant. There aren’t many Ryokan like this, so I think it’s a good place. I’d like to stay again.

    Healing Accommodation

    This was our third stay. Each time, we have been truly satisfied with the staff’s thoughtful hospitality and the delicious meals. We will definitely return again with my spouse and family.

    We had a relaxing stay.

    We stayed here to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. The bath was private, so we could relax, and the Room was spacious and comfortable. Above all, the meals were outstanding. It was the first time we had ever tasted beef that tender and delicious. And the surprise cake and fruit tower—also a first for us—was amazing. It’s a bit far away, but we would definitely like to stay again.

    It was the best accommodation!

    My spouse and I visited with our parents, making a group of four. We arrived much earlier than check-in, but we were warmly welcomed, which truly helped us. We could relax in the Room watching movies and Netflix. The afternoon tea was beautifully presented with lovely cakes and Japanese sweets on elegant tableware, and the portion was just right—delicious without affecting our made-to-order dinner buffet. We also loved the private bath exclusively for our Room—available as many times as we wanted. The changing area was spacious, the water quality was excellent, and the large window made it especially soothing. Being able to use it continuously from check-in to check-out was wonderful. The tea and water in the refrigerator were also greatly appreciated for staying hydrated. The made-to-order buffet—and even the complimentary sashimi—was beautifully presented, and every dish was carefully prepared. With all-you-can-drink alcohol included, we were able to enjoy everything at a relaxed pace without being rushed until the very end. Even the desserts were meticulously made; we enjoyed both chestnut and strawberry Mont Blanc, as well as an assortment of cakes. The illuminated entrance display resembling a Milky Way was beautiful, and all staff members were kind and attentive. The bed in our Room was very comfortable—everything was so perfect there’s nothing to complain about. We will definitely return! Honestly, it’s an Accommodation I’d rather not tell anyone about because I don’t want it to become impossible to get a Reservation.

    Year-End Relaxation Trip

    We stayed here for our final Onsen trip of the year. From the moment we arrived at the parking lot, we received warm and attentive hospitality. Check-in was done in our Room, which felt very special. Although the private Onsen was a bit of a walk from our Room, requiring us to move from the 3rd floor to the 2nd floor, it was spacious and well-equipped with amenities and chilled drinks prepared for guests. Dinner was an order-based system where we could enjoy eating and drinking whatever we liked—a fantastic setup. It turned out to be a wonderful trip to conclude this year!

    An accommodation with unique and wonderful dinner and bath.

    We visited for the first time on a weekday to celebrate my wife's birthday. Thanks to a plan with an early check-out by one hour, we were able to stay at a very reasonable price. From the warm welcome at the parking lot in front of the accommodation to the smooth check-in process in our room, everything was handled pleasantly. Later, we enjoyed an afternoon tea (welcome drink?) in a separate room on the second floor, which was surprisingly luxurious. Although our room did not have an onsen attached, there was a private family bath available for us to use anytime during our stay. The bath and even its changing area were impeccably clean. We used it multiple times from arrival until after breakfast the next morning and thoroughly enjoyed soaking in the onsen. Dinner was served à la carte style where we could order what we wanted from the menu. This system suited us perfectly as my wife prefers meat while I prefer fish. It also seemed more hygienic compared to buffet-style dining where many people serve themselves. We had sparkling wine, red wine, and chilled sake—all provided in appropriately sized bottles that ensured quality and peace of mind. It was great being able to enjoy drinks without worrying about additional costs. After feeling fully satisfied with dinner, we ordered dessert only to be surprised with an additional celebratory dessert prepared specially for my wife’s birthday—a delightful surprise that made us very happy. For breakfast, we chose Japanese cuisine based on positive reviews from others—and it lived up to expectations! There were plenty of side dishes that paired perfectly with rice. If I may add one small wish: instead of udon noodles for hot pot dishes at breakfast, yudofu (tofu hot pot) would have been preferable (though I must say even the udon tasted great). Personally speaking, dinner flavors leaned towards being rich while breakfast seasoning felt just right—but taste preferences vary by individual! Check-out took place smoothly at reception on the first floor without any waiting time; they even kindly helped take photos during our send-off moment. From start to finish—stress-free service combined with surprises like private onsens and wonderful dining systems—created unforgettable memories as a couple! We hope to find another opportunity soon for a return visit!

    Warm hospitality, thank you very much for taking care of us.

    In response to my parents' request to spend New Year's at a Ryokan, I searched for a property. Considering their age and knee issues, I prioritized ① a short travel time (about an hour this time), ② a room with a bath, and ③ beds for sleeping, and chose this Stays. From the moment we were shown to our room, my parents kept saying "This is nice." The staff who welcomed us and showed us to our room conveyed their passion for this Ryokan, and the room design was friendly for those with knee issues (there's a bench for putting on and taking off shoes on the earthen floor), which was a favorite. The drinks in the room's refrigerator were free, and the movie channel was also free, so we could relax and watch a movie with a beer right after being shown to our room. Since the room had a bath, we could use it at our preferred time, and even though the bathtub was high, there was a step stool and the edge of the bathtub was wide enough to feel safe. If there's one downside, it's that there are houses around, so you can't have a "feeling of openness" while bathing (laughs). The meals were decorated with beautiful Mizuhiki, and we received many auspicious items, making us feel the New Year's special atmosphere. With each dish, we were left with nothing to say but "Wow," "Beautiful," and "Delicious" (lack of vocabulary...). The nighttime illumination, inspired by the Milky Way, was also wonderful. Just before checking out in the morning, there was a small incident that caused a bit of a fuss, but thank you for handling it. Including all these experiences, my parents are already big fans of this place. We will visit again.

    It was an extraordinary space.

    I made a reservation for a room with a natural flowing onsen and stayed there. The water felt very pleasant. The makeup application the next morning was smooth, and I felt fulfilled. It was a property that makes me want to visit again!
