    Enjoy Tateshina again after a long time

    Everything was thoughtfully arranged. It’s a wonderful Hotel. I have just one request. In Japan, we usually wash our bodies before getting into the bathtub, and we prefer to sit while washing. I hesitate to mention it because placing a chair would mean extra cleaning, but I think it would be convenient to have one. The bathtub was so large I almost felt like I might drown (just kidding). The furnishings in the room and throughout the property were also excellent—I was truly impressed. I fully enjoyed cool Tateshina. Thank you very much.

    For a family trip

    We stayed here to express our everyday gratitude to my parents-in-law. The facilities offer a quiet, understated luxury, and the staff provide thoughtful, seamless hospitality. My parents-in-law were deeply moved by this first-time experience, and it reaffirmed that choosing this place was the right decision. Although it wasn’t for an anniversary or any special occasion, it became a wonderful day that reminded us how precious time like this can be. Thank you very much.

    A flawless Accommodation

    I arrived an hour before check-in, and just walking around inside was already enjoyable. There were many paintings on display, and the building itself was truly gorgeous. While I was wandering around, a staff member offered me water, which felt very thoughtful. I stepped out into the garden as well, but it was mostly just a lawn without much planting, so it felt a little sparse. The garden was smaller than I had imagined. After check-in, I was surprised by how high the ceiling in my Room was. The counter area looked stylish, and I also appreciated that the snacks and the juices in the fridge were all included—probably built into the price, but still a nice touch. It was also great that housekeeping came once during dinner to tidy up. Dinner lived up to expectations as excellent French cuisine. It was my first time trying pigeon; it was tender and incredibly delicious—perhaps thanks to perfect cooking. The staff member taking care of us was very kind, we could chat casually, and it made for a really enjoyable meal. I managed to finish everything. It made me think: this is what it’s like to have French cuisine like this every day. Breakfast was also carefully prepared. The sausages were tender and delicious, and the melon practically melted in my mouth. I was impressed that there was even a separate towel specifically for drying hair—I've never stayed at an Accommodation that provided one before. It felt like they had incorporated all the best parts of various luxury Accommodations. That said, the ReFa hair dryer took quite a while to dry my hair, so that part wasn’t ideal—though I assume it’s included because it’s trendy. I’d love to stay again.

    A space where extraordinary moments and comfort coexist

    We stayed here with my wife and our 0-year-old daughter to celebrate our second wedding anniversary. I had been curious about this Hotel after seeing it in a magazine, and once we arrived, I could truly feel the owner’s dedication and attention to detail. The service was refined yet friendly and warm, making for a wonderful stay. Beyond the owner’s excellent taste, the interior is filled with antiques—furnishings and paintings throughout—giving the entire place an authentic presence. I once stayed at a Hotel in Europe that had been renovated from a former royal palace, and this brought back that same feeling. It is as if such a space has appeared here, paired with modern comfort, exceptional cuisine unique to Japan, and genuine hospitality. In particular, as someone who paints as a hobby and also collects art on a small scale—and is quite particular about it—I felt the artworks displayed throughout were selected with real care. At the same time, it also has the feel of a private residence, making it comfortable for families as well. They prepared a baby crib and items for our daughter, and there were plenty of family-friendly Facilities within the building. We were fortunate enough to have an almost too-luxurious stay with no other guests around, so we could relax without worrying about others—but even so, we were truly grateful for the staff’s thoughtful support. From what we heard, things sounded challenging at first due to limited staffing when they opened; however, it seems they have gradually grown their team and become more stable. I would love to visit again, and I hope this Hotel continues to develop into an even better place where great staff members—and great guests—naturally gather.

    It was the best meal and stay.

    We visited with our family for the first time on our wedding anniversary, and it was the best stay we could have hoped for. The dining was beyond words—we enjoyed the best French cuisine of our lives (the fact that our eldest daughter finished almost the entire course says it all). The staff were wonderfully welcoming to children, and the live dessert performance delighted them. We also appreciated the manager’s witty hospitality, as well as the concept of a restaurant and bar with no age restrictions. With its carefully crafted European architecture, the Accommodation stayed very warm even though it was cold outside, and paintings were displayed throughout—making it feel like a luxurious night in an art museum. Our daughters, who love museums, had a great time taking lots of photos. Part of me wants to keep this place a secret, but it was such an amazing experience that I had to share it. We’d love to return regularly—thank you again!

    A Wonderful Hotel That Meets Expectations

    I had high expectations for this accommodation after reading the reviews. The building was very beautiful with numerous paintings, like an art museum. I enjoyed a relaxing time in a spacious room with high ceilings. The French course meal was absolutely delicious. I had a leisurely bath in the large bathtub. It was a quiet and elegant holiday. The staff's service was excellent, and it exceeded my expectations—definitely a hotel I want to visit again!

    Blissful Moments, Delightful Flavors

    My mother suggested having a year-end celebration after a whirlwind year, so we decided to plan a trip. Her only request was to visit Karuizawa, and she left the rest up to me. I made a reservation at Hotel de L'Arpage, which I had always wanted to visit. It was absolutely worth it! Both my mind and body felt rejuvenated, and every meal brought pure happiness. We’re already discussing when we can go again next time. I want to recommend this place wholeheartedly, but at the same time, I’d be sad if I couldn’t complete the reservation when I want to go... Still, it would be such a waste not to share how amazing this place is! Normally, I don’t write reviews at all—but this time was just too incredible not to share! So here’s my full recommendation! It would also be great if they could offer original hotel souvenirs like cookies, baked goods, or bread (perhaps available by pre-ordering in advance). Their tableware and towels are also truly wonderful. Next time, I'd love to visit with my son as part of our group of five. Thank you so much for everything during our stay!

    Great value for the price!

    I stayed here last summer and returned again this year. While the accommodation fee is not particularly cheap, the satisfaction level during the stay is exceptionally high. The staff's attentiveness, especially regarding the arrangement of dishes and portions at the hotel restaurant tailored to each guest, as well as their wine selection, provided a truly high-quality experience. Despite visiting during the peak Obon season, it was not overly crowded, allowing for a calm and relaxing atmosphere. Although located in Tateshina, it offers an experience reminiscent of being in France or Switzerland. Compared to traveling abroad, it's a great value way to enjoy a refreshing summer retreat while savoring top-notch cuisine. Highly recommended!

    Wonderful Hotel!

    The time spent surrounded by authentic architecture and meticulously designed interiors was truly blissful. We are grateful for the heartfelt and warm service. Every meal was exceptionally delicious, and we were deeply impressed by the flambé dessert performance. This is a wonderful Hotel we would love to visit multiple times a year!

    I've always wanted to visit.

    We stayed as two women and had high expectations since we had always wanted to visit. It felt just like being at a petite hotel in France. The Hotel exceeded our expectations and was truly wonderful. Everything was perfect, 100 out of 100 points. It's a Hotel we would love to revisit immediately.
