    A simple and peaceful time

A simple and peaceful time was spent. The traditional house has charm while being clean and modern. The meals are carefully prepared and delicious. Since we visited during the off-season, it was truly quiet with no animals in sight among the fallen leaves of the trees. Now, regarding things I felt beyond what others have mentioned: The staff were polite, but there were no suggestions on how to enjoy the area or engaging conversations. As a traveler looking forward to local insights and interactions, this felt lacking. With only three groups staying and considering the price paid, I hoped for more attention to service details. Regarding the bath: While herbal baths were suggested, there was barely enough quantity for fragrance when added to the water. There were no bath buckets available; though towel warmers were provided, there weren’t any towel racks by the sink or baskets for clothes in the changing area—making it inconvenient for storing clothes during bathing. Dinner took two and a half hours at a relaxed pace with plenty of food that left us full. The presentation was beautiful as well as intricate. The rice flour gelato dessert was delicious; however, seeing two peeled mandarin orange segments served felt underwhelming. Coffee wasn’t offered either. The male staff member serving dinner provided pleasant hospitality which left a good impression—perhaps he is one of their chefs? Breakfast included tasty Matsumae pickles; however tofu or grated yam lacked spoons for serving them conveniently. Egg rolls served in steamers weren’t warm nor flavorful enough while rice wasn’t hot either—a disappointment indeed! Even dashi tea lacked warmth alongside missing aromatic bonito flakes flavoring its broth properly despite offering two types whose taste differences remained unclear without soy sauce accompaniment enhancing flavors better overall. Although stars appeared beautifully visible above skies surrounding accommodations themselves emitted strong lighting detracting from stargazing experience altogether hence creating designated star-viewing spaces would enhance guest satisfaction further still providing outdoor slip-on shoes could improve convenience too! While undeniably picturesque throughout every corner capturing Instagram-worthy moments aplenty expectations might’ve been set slightly higher beforehand ultimately leading towards mixed feelings post-stay yet opinions shared herein reflect personal perspectives solely representing travelers’ aspirations alike expressing gratitude sincerely nonetheless toward hosts extending hospitality graciously rendered overall much appreciated indeed!

I stayed for one night in a Japanese-style room. It seemed to be a relocated traditional house, offering a charming and spacious room with a calm atmosphere. The concept of enjoying the forest without doing anything was reflected in the absence of a TV, with only a Bluetooth speaker provided. I agree with the idea of relaxing leisurely. However, if that's the case, I would have appreciated more comfortable seating options. During my half-day stay, sitting on cushions on tatami mats for an extended period was not very relaxing. At least providing chairs with backrests or even sofas or ottoman-equipped chairs in the Japanese-style room would allow guests to relax while enjoying views of the forest, reading books, or listening to music. If the purpose is to enjoy being surrounded by nature without nearby amenities, then I found the minibar insufficient. Offering just water and one cup of coffee is rare even at business hotels these days. Even if not all-inclusive, having options like herbal tea, various teas, and alcoholic beverages available (even for an additional charge) would enhance guests' enjoyment of their rooms and surroundings. Since there are no staff members present during nighttime hours, it would be helpful if staff could check in before leaving for any concerns guests might have. For example, I couldn't adjust the temperature of the toilet seat warmer—it was so hot that it felt almost scalding. The meals were delicious as well. I appreciate your focus on using local ingredients from Hokkaido and supporting local production for local consumption. However, considering this accommodation brands itself as an auberge experience; my expectations were slightly higher regarding dining uniqueness. While everything tasted good and looked beautiful on presentation plates—honestly speaking—it didn’t feel significantly different compared to other Japanese ryokans’ cuisine offerings elsewhere nationwide where distinctive specialties stood out uniquely tied exclusively here wasn’t apparent enough either way! There was also trouble when paper pots caught fire during dinner service but honestly didn’t bother me much personally though perhaps better training around extinguishing methods could help prevent panic situations next time around instead? Lastly about serving chilled red wine specifically mentioning such details beforehand via menu descriptions might avoid surprises altogether too! For those carrying heavy luggage assistance offered voluntarily by staff—even small gestures—could leave lasting positive impressions overall improving guest experiences further beyond expectations alike mine initially raised high due largely based upon glowing reviews read prior arrival beforehand admittedly so maybe over-anticipation played part somewhat unfairly critical tone expressed throughout feedback shared above ultimately hoping constructive suggestions lead towards becoming truly exceptional accommodations worth revisiting someday soon!

    I visited the forest...

I visited the forest auberge Mitsu to create memories with my mother, as she had always wanted to go there. The beautiful accommodation, delicious cuisine, and exceptionally kind service made for a truly comfortable and wonderful experience. Thank you so much! The staff were all smiles and provided excellent hospitality (during dinner, they recommended a shop we ended up visiting—Perron’s baguette was absolutely delicious. Thank you!). We felt at ease throughout our stay. The meals were not only flavorful and visually appealing but also healthy dishes that made my body feel happy—this brought me great joy. Living in a traditional house like Mitsu has been a dream of mine, so just staying there was incredibly soothing for my soul! I sincerely hope Mitsu continues on forever! I will visit again. Creating memories with my mother was a huge success!

    Quiet location

This was my first visit. The location is very quiet. I looked out the window hoping to see some animals, but none appeared. The Room doesn't have a TV, but there is a Bluetooth speaker, so I enjoyed relaxing with my favorite music. The Room was clean, though I did notice a few ants walking around. However, considering the natural surroundings, it didn’t bother me much. The bath seems to use heated water, but I thoroughly enjoyed soaking while admiring the outdoor scenery. As for meals, everything I tried was delicious. I would love to stay here again next time!

We love it here and ...

We love it here and highly recommend it to friends. The room, bathroom, amenities, and service are all excellent. What stands out even more is the dinner. The chef prepares each dish freshly with great care, and you can truly taste the attention to detail in every bite. Thank you for giving us such satisfying memories.

    No TV available

I was looking for a place near Chitose Airport to match my return flight schedule and found an auberge that mentioned it had no TV. Intrigued, I made a Reservation. Since I had some time before check-in, I stopped by a cat café I had visited before to take a break. From the café, it was just a short distance to an old-style house nestled quietly in the forest. Upon entering, the interior offered a calm and nostalgic yet stylish atmosphere, creating a relaxing space. The dinner I was looking forward to was incredibly delicious and filling. The final dish of seasoned rice was so good that I ended up eating too much and feeling completely full. The staff were all friendly with warm smiles, making my stay refreshing and enjoyable. Surprisingly, without having TV around, I realized that even my smartphone usage decreased significantly. It seems they also serve lunch there; I'd like to make time to visit again for that as well!
