    Accommodation with Spectacular Views

    The ocean view was just as shown in the photos—absolutely breathtaking! It was my first trip to Kochi Prefecture, and I was able to experience Kochi through the meals as well, making it a very satisfying stay. I don’t think there is any other Accommodation with the sea this close and such a great view from the deck. Thank you to all the staff for your kind and attentive service.

    A luxurious moment spent while gazing out at the sea

    I visited Kochi Prefecture with my husband on our first trip in a while, and neither of us had been there before. Since we wanted to stay at an Accommodation where we could see the ocean and enjoy a true escape from everyday life, we chose this place. It’s a bit of a drive from the airport, but the journey through beautiful nature was enjoyable, and it didn’t feel as far as we expected. The views from the restaurant and our Room were absolutely breathtaking. Watching the sea and sky change throughout the day, we were able to spend a relaxed and luxurious time. Every dish made with locally sourced ingredients was delicious, and the pairing of bonito and sake was especially outstanding. I was happy that even my husband—who doesn’t usually drink much—could enjoy it with me. The Room was spotless, and all of the staff were courteous. They also kindly helped us plan our sightseeing schedule for the next day. Just as we had hoped, it was a wonderful Accommodation where we could truly unwind and forget about daily life. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to spend slow, special time with someone important.

    The air coming from the air conditioner smelled so bad that it made me feel unwell, and I couldn’t enjoy either the meals or my stay in the Room at all.

    Everything was perfect!

    After having to cancel at the last minute twice due to an earthquake and a typhoon, we were finally able to stay on our third attempt. We stayed in a Room with an open-air bath, and it was so spacious it felt like even ten people could relax comfortably. Since it’s a single open-plan space, you can truly stretch out and unwind. The open-air bath was wonderful as well. And then the dining experience at the restaurant. The biggest reason we chose this Hotel was the meal on the ocean-facing observation deck. Dining on the deck is limited to just the appetizer course of dinner. At first I thought, “What? Not the whole meal?” But once we tried it, just the appetizers were more than enough—we enjoyed both the sunset and the sea to our hearts’ content. If you ate the entire meal on the deck, it would get dark and cold, so having only appetizers there was perfect. Of course, both the taste and portion sizes were excellent throughout. At night, we relaxed on our balcony with drinks while watching the stars. There are lights from around the building, but if you close your curtains to make it darker inside, you can still enjoy a starry sky that feels very satisfying for city dwellers. It had been a long time since I’d spent so much time simply looking at stars. Breakfast offered a choice of Japanese or Western style; we chose Japanese. It was a sea bream rice set with an incredible amount of sea bream—truly a fulfilling breakfast. Since we had reserved a cruise, we checked out early in the morning, but this is an Accommodation where you’ll want to take your time right up until departure if you can. We would love to visit again when we have another chance.

    Ashizuri Trip

    It was well worth the trip. The views from the lobby and Room, from the open-air bath during daylight, and from the terrace were all truly breathtaking—I could have looked at them forever. I also joined a nighttime stargazing tour, and I was deeply moved by how many stars I could see—more than I’ve ever seen before. The explanations on how to find constellations and details about the stars were fascinating. I made so many wonderful memories. I’d love to visit again in a different season.

    What I saw was horrifying: there were huge numbers of stink bugs everywhere—at the restaurant, in the open-air bath, and throughout the Accommodation. Of course, there was also a smell. I understand that dealing with nature is difficult, but this was the first time I’ve stayed somewhere where I couldn’t feel at ease. Even in the bath, there was debris floating in the tub and countless stink bugs. I’ve never experienced anything like it. If this were a budget place for mass tourism, I could understand to some extent, but considering the price, it felt completely out of balance. I felt that many of the staff members were kind as individuals. There are also some lovely spots that look great in photos. I truly hope you will keep working to improve.

    An experience you can only have because it’s so far away

    I visited for two nights with a friend from Tokyo. I knew in advance it was a bit far from the airport, but we stopped by the Shimanto River—somewhere I’d always wanted to go—and enjoyed a scenic coastal drive, so the journey was great. We arrived right at sunset and were able to see an amazing sunset glow from the restaurant terrace. We had Italian on the first night and Japanese cuisine on the second, and everything was outstanding (the pizza and seared bonito tataki were especially unforgettable). I’m not much of a drinker, but with the food and views, I ended up pleasantly tipsy and had a wonderful evening. The Room was spacious, beautifully renovated, and waking up to the lush blue ocean view in the morning was incredible. There’s so much to enjoy—dining, sightseeing, and more—so I highly recommend staying for two or three nights!

    The best in everything.

    We stayed in a Junior Suite for a Multiple Night Stay of 2 nights. The Facility, location, dining, and hospitality were all outstanding. The staff’s warm welcome and delicious cuisine made our stay even more special. The view of the Miyako Blue sea and the Irabu Bridge from our luxurious Room was the ultimate indulgence.

    Family Trip

    We stayed with two adults and two children, visiting the southern tip of Shikoku for the first time—it truly felt like an isolated place. The Room had been renovated and was reasonably clean. However, the building’s age was noticeable, and areas such as the corridor to the elevator and public bath, as well as the public bath and game area, had a very retro feel and did not seem thoroughly cleaned. We felt there could have been a bit more effort to improve things without ruining the atmosphere. We tried both the Italian and Japanese restaurants. The terrace offered breathtaking views you can only experience here. The food was delicious, generous in portion size, and included local ingredients. Our children were especially happy to try freshly prepared dishes such as seared bonito for the first time. The walk to the open-air bath is long, but the lying-down bath was very relaxing.

    Spectacular views! Delicious food!

    Honestly, I checked the travel time from the airport and briefly regretted my Reservation, but I’m so glad I went!! The ocean view from the restaurant deck is simply breathtaking. The food was excellent—I was happily surprised to find cuisine of this quality so far from Tokyo. The pizza was delicious too! I’m also glad I splurged on the top-tier Room. I could see the ocean from the Room, the sauna, and even the bath—it felt wonderfully luxurious. It’s far, but absolutely a Hotel worth visiting!!

    Stay at the Southernmost Point of Shikoku

    I came here hoping to spend quiet time unwinding in a lush natural setting. The sweeping views before me, the crisp air, the sky full of stars, and the unhurried pace of time—everything felt soothing, and I was able to truly refresh away from everyday life. The interior is not overly ornate; instead, it has a refined quality that harmonizes with nature, making it an exceptionally comfortable space. The meals were also excellent, and I could feel their commitment to valuing the blessings of the land. Rather than flashy excitement, this is a place where you can surrender to nature, appreciate the richness of the area, and feel your heart grow fuller through warm hospitality. It was exactly that kind of stay.

    A Scenic Accommodation to Relax in the Great Outdoors

    Stayed in a suite with an open-air bath. Chose Italian for dinner. I had a slightly longer break, so I decided on a trip to Kochi on a whim. This was a Hotel I’d been curious about for some time, and I chose it as the highlight of this trip. In addition to the in-room open-air bath, there is an Onsen in the large public bath. The open-air bath offers sweeping views of the sea and sky, almost like being on a cliffside, and I was able to relax at length surrounded by nature. As the building is said to have been inherited from a Ryokan, there seem to be areas that have not yet undergone major renovations, but my stay was comfortable and I enjoyed it more than enough. I also heard they are working not only on renovating the building but also on taking over nearby farms, which makes this Hotel’s future evolution something to look forward to. Both dinner and breakfast made excellent use of local ingredients and exceeded my expectations. In particular, the fish main dish with rich seafood stock and the wood-fired pizza were outstanding, and for breakfast the sea bream rice was exquisite. All of the staff were pleasant as well, making it a truly comfortable stay. I would definitely like to visit again.

    Recommended for adults who enjoy alcohol, except during midwinter or when traveling with small children.

    It was our first revisit in four years during the same winter season. Previously, the staff's hospitality left a strong impression, but this time it felt slightly diminished. However, there were still moments of thoughtful care that we appreciated. The newly added Italian terrace was beautiful and had a lovely atmosphere. It made us want to dine there during spring or autumn. We chose the [All-Inclusive] Winter Special! Natural Kue Hot Pot Tosa Kaiseki Plan for this stay. However, unlike other plans where it was clearly stated, this plan did not mention that the Diamond late check-out benefit would not apply. As a result, we had to check out at 10:00 AM, which was very disappointing. With such an early check-out time, even with the lunch service benefit included in our stay, it was difficult to make use of it effectively and left little time for souvenir shopping. The room matched its photos—clean and comfortable for our stay. On the downside, there were no kid-friendly drinks in the refrigerator; children needed to use vending machines or visit cafes instead. The all-inclusive feature allowing unlimited drinks and à la carte dishes during dinner is truly fantastic—perfect for those who enjoy alcohol! However, as non-drinkers traveling with kids, we found it somewhat overpriced despite options like gelato and juice being available—it didn’t feel cost-effective for us. Regarding children's meals: - Ordering one dish provided items like fries or fried chicken. - The course meal offered was identical to adults' portions/content. Unfortunately, both dinner and breakfast menus were mostly unsuitable for younger elementary school-aged children. We honestly wished there were plans without meals included specifically tailored toward families with young kids (as parents end up eating their children's portions too). As for Onsen facilities: - The connecting corridor from rooms to baths - The distance between indoor baths → outdoor baths after undressing Both proved challenging during midwinter—it felt freezing cold! Having robes or towels available along these routes would be helpful under such conditions. That said though—the starry night view above combined beautifully warm waters made up nicely overall! In conclusion: This accommodation seems best suited towards individuals opposite from us who prefer: - Seasons other than winter - Traveling without small children - Enjoying alcoholic beverages Such guests are likely able fully appreciate everything offered here better than we could!

    Unique Scenery and Future Accommodation

    1. Accommodation (Suite) We stayed in a suite for four people, and the space was more than sufficient. The room was clean and very comfortable overall. Since it was on the first floor, we occasionally noticed noise from upstairs. The bedding was comfortable, though the pillows felt slightly soft. The private open-air bath in the room is not an Onsen. Due to its location, there may be some concern about visibility from outside; it's recommended to keep this in mind when using it. 2. Onsen The Onsen facility retains a strong Showa-era charm. The distance to the open-air bath is quite far, so your body might get cold during winter; however, warming up thoroughly in the indoor bath beforehand solves this issue. While preferences may vary, those who appreciate traditional Onsens will love it here. The view from the open-air bath is breathtaking—soaking under a sky full of stars is an experience unique to this place. 3. Meals **Day 1 (Japanese Cuisine)**: The seared bonito was exceptional and served as a tasting set with three different seasonings—miso, sauce, and salt—which added variety and creativity to the dish. The grouper hot pot was also excellent with generous portions provided throughout dinner. For dessert, panna cotta received high praise from children. **Day 2 (Italian Cuisine)**: Local ingredients took center stage in every course of this meal—the freshly baked pizza made with daily-prepared dough stood out as truly outstanding. **Breakfast**: For Japanese breakfast lovers, there’s sea bream rice—a luxurious take on "egg over rice." For Western-style breakfast fans, pita bread paired with ham varieties alongside abundant salad options were offered; fruit servings were plentiful too! Kids especially enjoyed their pancakes which were exceptionally well-made. 4. Location & Environment The infinity deck alone makes visiting worthwhile—it’s one-of-a-kind! At night during stargazing events held here under clear skies filled entirely by stars creates unforgettable sensory experiences! 5.Improvements Needed - **Laundry Room:** Ventilation issues cause noticeable odors that need immediate attention if related directly towards plumbing concerns requiring urgent resolution. - **Table Tennis Area:** While having such facilities available itself remains commendable unfortunately equipment quality falls short due wear-and-tear like peeling rubber missing shake-hand style paddles detracting overall enjoyment levels significantly. - **Smoking Area:** Located near Onsen exit resulting lingering smells becoming bothersome suggesting either complete non-smoking policy implementation relocating designated zones away public pathways instead would improve guest satisfaction greatly! 6.Staff Feedback (Encouragement) Staff members are young but display genuine dedication evident through their efforts despite still having much learn ahead them representing potential growth opportunities both personally professionally alike contributing positively toward future development accommodations themselves appearing poised flourish next five years ahead promising bright prospects await!

    A Sky Full of Stars

    This was my second stay at the accommodation, following my visit in summer. This time, it was a one-night whirlwind trip from Tokyo for work, but I was thrilled to finally see the starry sky I had been dreaming of! The hotel staff guided me to a spot just a one-minute walk from the front desk, where I lay on a bench and enjoyed gazing at the breathtaking starry sky while listening to an engaging guide. It was truly the ultimate relaxation. Returning to my room, I soaked in the warm open-air bath and spotted Subaru (the Pleiades) as guided earlier. It made me want to come back here again to see another beautiful night sky!

    The room, meals, and...

    The room, meals, and the view from the restaurant were excellent and very satisfying. However, the facilities in the Onsen were outdated, and I tripped over a step on the floor of the changing room. Additionally, while it is understandable as a natural occurrence, there was a large number of stink bugs present. Some were floating in the open-air bath with an unpleasant smell, which was disappointing.

    The facilities are good, but the service could be improved.

    It was a 3-night, 4-day trip from Tokyo to Kochi. I was looking forward to staying at this hotel as the highlight of my journey, but unfortunately, the staff did not meet the level expected for a hotel of this accommodation price. While the younger staff were pleasant and provided good service without any issues, the leaders lacked professionalism and their attitude was far below standard. There were several mistakes during our stay, followed by repeated apologies. To make matters worse, during check-out, they forgot to apply my IKYU benefits until I pointed it out myself. Even at that moment, it was the same manager who appeared every time there was an issue! With such leadership at the top, proper employee training seems unlikely. When we arrived at the hotel, there were several staff members at reception and no other guests around us; however, none of them offered to help with our luggage. At first, I thought this might be a self-service style hotel with fewer employees on purpose—but upon reflection—it seemed more like an indication of their low service standards. The accommodation fee wasn’t cheap either—so why such poor service after traveling all the way to this remote part of Shikoku? It left a sour note on what had otherwise been an amazing trip in Kochi. This hotel has potential and could become much better if its management and staff improve significantly!

    The view is spectacular.

    Located at the tip of Cape Ashizuri, the Hotel offers breathtaking views. The renovated guest rooms are stylish and delightful. The long corridor leading to the large public bath and the bath itself retain a strong sense of the previous Hotel, evoking nostalgia as if stepping back into the Showa era. The meals were delicious, and the live show of straw-grilled bonito was truly impressive. I would love to stay here again!

    Japanese-style room for a family of 4

    Visited in August. The facility primarily involves moving via stairs, which might be a bit challenging for those with mobility issues. The room was a Japanese-style room, and when futons were laid out for a family of four, there was no extra space left, making it difficult to find space to spread out luggage. The toilet was new and clean; however, as it is integrated with the washroom, the washroom cannot be used if someone is using the toilet. The bath features an open-air bath with stunning views. There is also a reclining bath outdoors where you can enjoy bathing while gazing at the sea from Cape Ashizuri. Just experiencing this bath makes staying here worthwhile. For dinner, we chose Italian cuisine and requested pairing to match the course menu. Every dish was incredibly delicious and worth traveling here just to enjoy this meal. The pairing was thoughtfully curated to complement each dish perfectly, showcasing the effort of the sommelier. It allowed us to truly appreciate how important food and drink pairings are once again!

    The all-inclusive service is excellent.

    The weather wasn't great, and the view from the restaurant was rainy, but the service and hospitality were excellent, making it a very comfortable Hotel. The gelato, drinks, alcohol, and Tosa cuisine at the restaurant were all-inclusive! Watching the live demonstration of straw-grilled bonito was also enjoyable. The craft beer from Kochi in the Room's refrigerator was so delicious that I ordered it immediately after returning home. Next time I visit, I hope to enjoy my meal while gazing at the sparkling blue sea.

    Second stay

    I made the reservation without realizing it had been renovated, but I was satisfied in the end. The open-air bath was indeed far, but it’s definitely worth the trip. The live cooking for meals was great. Especially, the breakfast venue matched the photos and had an amazing location.

    Delicious Bonito

    The cuisine was excellent, the bonito was delicious, and the rice cooked in a pot was amazing. The open-air bath with a view was fantastic. The scenery was beautiful, and the stargazing tour was incredible. However, the walk to the Onsen felt a bit far. Still, I would love to visit again!

    Gap

    The gap between the renovated and non-renovated areas is significant. The bath is not great, especially the long and dirty pathway to the open-air bath. The rice in the Japanese breakfast smells old. When chewing, it has an odor, so I had to swallow it as part of a sea bream rice dish. It's a shame that such a dish is ruined by smelly rice. Wear and tear are noticeable in various places, leading to a low evaluation overall. Instead of welcoming guests during renovations, completing them beforehand would likely result in much better reviews. Both the Room and dining area are beautifully renovated, and meals are thoughtfully prepared—what a waste otherwise!

    It did not disappoint.

    Stayed in a Deluxe Room (with shower) with my wife on June 6, traveling from Osaka. This was an amazing accommodation that met all our expectations. The infinity deck shown in the photos was breathtaking and unlike anything we had experienced before—we couldn’t stop taking pictures! The room was spacious, featuring three beds plus a sofa bed. The bedding was luxurious and provided a very comfortable sleep. The furniture and decor were stylish, and there were unique touches like an instant camera (Cheki) available for use. The refrigerator was stocked with two sets each of sake, local craft beer (?), two types of local juice, local coffee milk, local lactic acid drinks, and mineral water—all presented in elegant bottles that exuded luxury. Everything was complimentary, including chilled glasses prepared inside the fridge—a generous offering indeed! For dining options, we chose between Japanese cuisine or Italian at an outdoor deck-facing restaurant; we opted for Italian dining outdoors to start but moved indoors after sunset about an hour later. The staff handled this transition seamlessly with kindness throughout our meal experience as they served creative dishes made from fresh regional ingredients. However: while enjoying amenities overall—bathhouse/dressing rooms/walkways leading up remain unrenovated reflecting Showa-era charm yet lack modern accessibility features such as barrier-free corridors/stairs posing challenges especially those w/ mobility issues accessing baths easily. It seems management prefers thorough renovations over partial updates when addressing these areas eventually—looking forward eagerly seeing future improvements! Though unrelated directly Kansai Expo Roof Ring ongoing nearby currently visiting here guarantees awe-inspiring views Pacific Ocean via Infinity Deck alone worth trip highly recommended!!

    The staff is excellent!

    From young staff to experienced ones, the teamwork was seamless, allowing us to enjoy a pleasant time throughout our stay. I deeply appreciate the consideration given to gluten-free meals and even allergies related to additives when I consulted about IKYU's Diamond Benefit souvenir. The dinner was exceptionally delicious, and conversations with the friendly staff were so enjoyable that I ended up drinking too much and left the Room without having the energy to fill out a survey. Haha. Normally, I don't write Reviews often, but I'm sharing my thoughts here. After returning home to Osaka, we couldn't stop raving about the seared bonito and eel! If there's another opportunity, I'd love to stay again! Thank you for letting us experience the stunning clear skies before rainy season and starry night views.

    Stay at an accommodation with breathtaking views of Cape Ashizuri.

    The accommodation is currently undergoing reform under new management. The photo of the terrace with an edgeless pool-style design, featuring tables and chairs, looks stunning. However, in reality, it doesn't evoke as much excitement and still feels like it's under renovation. Lunch offers great value for money and is recommended. I stayed in a newly renovated room; however, the low ceiling was a bit concerning. That said, the atmosphere of the room was very pleasant. For now, the cost-performance is average, but I look forward to future improvements.

    The difference from the photos is significant.

    I chose this accommodation knowing it was under renovation, so I expected to see some older parts. However, considering the cost of 80,000 yen for two people, I feel compelled to share my thoughts. First, the room and lobby were clean with an excellent view. However, as others have mentioned, the worn-out slippers left a poor impression. What truly disappointed me was the dining experience. The Japanese-style dining venue looked completely different from what was shown on the website. The meals themselves also did not match the images online in terms of quality or presentation. Both the ingredients and preparation felt subpar—almost as if there were no professional chefs involved—and resembled homemade dishes at best. The public bath area had a dated atmosphere; corroded mirrors and broken faucets gave off an abandoned vibe rather than nostalgic charm. Additionally, while foreign staff members seemed to be doing their best, it was evident that some Japanese staff lacked proper hospitality training. At a lower price point, this could have been appreciated as a casual pension-style stay; however, given its current pricing and discrepancies with website photos, I cannot recommend this accommodation to others. Please consider running your business with sincerity moving forward.
