    A new, clean Hotel

    I stayed here because I was curious about it as a Hotel under Polaris HD. The Room felt smaller than I expected, but the furnishings and amenities were excellent, and I had a comfortable stay. The view from the Room is of a residential area, so it is not particularly impressive, but the building itself is clean and well maintained. Breakfast featured a wide selection of carefully prepared dishes with good nutritional balance, and everything was very delicious. It is a bit far from the station, so access was the only drawback, but overall I think it offers great value for money.

    Dazzling

    The parking lot is right outside the Room, and the lights stay on at night, so light came into the Room. It would be nice to have a small mirror.

    The cleanliness was disappointing.

    I stayed for 3 nights, but the housekeeping was so minimal that I was at a loss. I understood in advance that the sheets would not be changed, but: - Used items such as glasses and teacups were left as-is for three days without being washed or cleared away (they were empty). - Even though I threw empty plastic bottles next to the trash bin, they were never collected; by the last day, more than 10 empty bottles were still lined up on the floor. It was unpleasant, especially since the Room was small to begin with. Also, I had arranged for kimono dressing and hair styling, but I was told that entry by non-guests is generally prohibited. Of course I understand this for friends visiting... but even the dresser said, “In Kyoto it’s common to dress guests in a Hotel room. I’ve never been refused before,” and seemed surprised. It made me feel that the place might be run by someone not very familiar with Kyoto culture (perhaps from overseas?). The front desk staff were kind.

    A Hotel Perfect for a Girls’ Trip

    There were welcome sweets, Jill Stuart amenities, and the Room was spacious and spotless. The drink selection was also excellent—perfect for a girls’ trip. I was especially happy that there were sweets and drink services at the breakfast venue. When I asked the front desk for dinner recommendations, they lent me a file with various restaurant options. It included comments as well, which was very helpful when choosing where to eat.

    A modern Hotel with a touch of Kyoto's charm

    Close to Nijo Castle, the Hotel is surrounded by quiet Kyoto-style alleys with great cafes, coffee shops, and local dining spots loved by the community. Although it is a bit far from Kyoto Station, there are fewer inbound tourists. The Rooms are clean and spacious, the staff is warm and welcoming, ensuring a very comfortable stay. Great value for money and highly recommended for Japanese guests.

    A Relaxing Hotel

    The location is a bit far from the station and there is no bustling downtown nearby, which can be inconvenient. However, the Hotel has a limited number of Rooms and seems to have a wood-themed concept, with many wooden amenities and excellent other facilities. The meals were not abundant in variety but each dish was very delicious, and the complimentary all-you-can-drink corner was also great. The foreign staff were very polite and made us feel at ease.

    - When I opened the room curtains, I found a residential balcony with laundry hanging right in front of me, so I kept the curtains closed throughout my stay. Despite booking three months in advance and opting for a multiple night stay, it was disappointing as there were many rooms with open views available. - The accommodation implements an "eco-make" policy, meaning no room cleaning or bed-making services are provided. While this itself is not an issue, even the towel replacement requested to be left in the bathroom was not done by afternoon. As it was extremely hot, I wanted to take a shower but couldn't due to this delay. At around 2 PM, I had to request towel replacement verbally at the front desk before it was finally addressed. Additionally, there were no refills for drinking water or other amenities. - There were dust clumps on the window frames and when placing clothes into an empty drawer, they became covered in dust as well. - As it is part of Best Western Hotels, most guests appeared to be from overseas and seemed to be their main target audience. Based on this experience during my stay here, promoting through IKYU.com may not seem necessary anymore from my perspective.

    The room size and atmosphere were great. The variety of meals was limited, so I would like the breakfast options to be as diverse as hotels of the same level overseas. I forgot to check that the room had no bathtub (shower only), so I hope for clearer guidance during the reservation process.

    The nearest station is far away.

    It takes about 10 minutes to walk from either Nijojo-mae Station or Marutamachi Station, which might be challenging in the summer. The Room follows an eco-cleaning policy, meaning no regular cleaning is provided. Bedding is tidied up, but towels need to be placed in the bathroom for replacement. Amenities are not replenished. However, two bottles of water and one each of apple juice and fruit juice are restocked daily. Daily cleaning can be arranged upon request within a specified time frame. While the Hotel has a lovely design, considering the price and transportation convenience, hotels around Shijo or Gojo might be more suitable options. The area is quiet as it’s located in a residential neighborhood without nearby convenience stores. The staff are kind and courteous; however, being part of an international casual hotel chain does show at times. When I inquired about travel times from the nearest station before my visit, they couldn’t provide immediate answers without looking it up—basic knowledge like this should ideally be readily available. I had taxis called for me several times during my stay; however, taxi drivers never confirmed names upon arrival (perhaps coincidental). The front desk provides cards with taxi numbers written on them; since many guests call taxis in the morning, it would help if they reminded guests to confirm their taxi number before boarding—I once experienced someone else mistakenly taking my taxi. The breakfast buffet was delicious!

    Transportation to tourist spots other than Nijo Castle requires a taxi, which can be challenging for companions with mobility issues. The experience is better compared to Best Western hotels in the United States.

    We visited as a family of three. The Room was very clean and spacious, allowing us to relax. The drink service on the first floor was a bit hard to understand. It was a Hotel we would love to stay at again. Thank you very much!

    Always a very comfortable stay.

    I have been staying here every time I visit Kyoto recently. The location is not too busy, yet very convenient for transportation. The rooms are clean, functional, and excellent. The staff are friendly and respond promptly to requests. One suggestion: it would be great if there were a mirror in the bathroom.

    Considering the recent cost-performance in Kyoto, it falls into the premium category.

    We used it for a family trip. Considering the recent surge in hotel prices in Kyoto, I expected it to be a decent room, but I was pleasantly surprised by how good the room was. The staff's response was also excellent, and we had a great time. We will definitely use it again.

    I want to visit again.

    We stayed as a family of five. There are few hotels with rooms for five people, so it's recommended for families! Junior Suite Room! It's spacious, clean, and everyone can enjoy it. There are usage hours, but the free drinks for guests, including alcohol, are recommended! Since it's set back from the street, you can spend a quiet and relaxing time. It would have been even better if there was a view.

    A beautiful Japanese-style Hotel

    The location was very quiet, perhaps because it is a bit away from the city center. I chose a room with a bathtub, and the bathtub was spacious and the bathroom was clean, allowing for a relaxing bath. Within walking distance are Nijo Castle, Kyoto Imperial Palace, and Seimei Shrine, allowing you to experience Kyoto. I stayed during the New Year and was able to spend my time without stress. The amenities were also nice, with many bamboo items that gave a sense of Japanese style. However, the pound cake in a transparent bag, which was a complimentary snack, was dry and not tasty, so it might be better to replace it with something else or not offer it at all. Overall, it was a lovely hotel, and I would like to use it again.

    Good value for money. Comfortable Hotel

    It was my first time using the Hotel, but the decorations from the entrance to the Room were calm, making it very comfortable and satisfying. The amenities were of good quality and felt nice to use. There was no parking lot as I used a car, but there were many inexpensive (with a maximum limit) coin parking lots nearby, so there was no problem using them. Since it is not in the center of Kyoto City, there is no hustle and bustle around, but I think it is a good Hotel for those who want to spend their time slowly.

    Near Nijo Castle

    I chose this Hotel as a return gift for the hometown tax donation. I opted for breakfast included, but although the price was set on the higher side, it was buffet style and I felt the content was somewhat lacking. The staff were kind and very accommodating, and the Room had a sense of cleanliness.

    The room was very nice, and I had a great time. The reception was also very courteous. The amenities were well-stocked, with coffee, mineral water, juice, and even snacks provided. I personally appreciated that the toilet and sink were separate. The bath was very clean and helped me relax after the journey. The breakfast buffet was not extensive and felt a bit small. The taste was average, and some items seemed cold. However, I did experience a very unsettling incident. After breakfast, I returned to my room to get ready, and a cleaning staff member knocked on the door. As I was in the middle of getting ready, I tried to finish quickly and leave, but they attempted to open the door without permission. Fortunately, I had the door guard on from the inside. A foreign male staff member said, "Is the cleaning done? If so, please return the room cleaning tag outside the door," so I did it myself. I thought the tag should be returned after cleaning is completed. I hope the staff can communicate better about whether the cleaning is done. As a woman staying alone, it was frightening to have an unknown male, even if a staff member, try to enter the room. If I had been in the bathroom or changing, it would have been even more uncomfortable. Aside from the above incident, everything else was very good, but I can't shake off the distrust, so I will refrain from staying again. Thank you.

    I used it for a stay...

    I used it for a staycation. I made a reservation because I liked the spacious room with separate bath and toilet. The amenities were also very well-equipped, and I was satisfied. The breakfast was delicious, and even when items ran out, they were quickly replenished, so there was no inconvenience. The only thing that bothered me was that the table was sticky, as if juice had been spilled on it. It was not a problem as I could wipe it off immediately, but I wanted to mention it because it caught my attention. Other than that, I was very satisfied, and it turned out to be a great staycation.
