    Ideal for sightseeing in Nara City and a relaxing stay

    Thank you for having me for one night. I had made a Reservation for a standard Room, but since rain was forecast, I changed to a Room with an open-air Onsen bath on the day. Choosing to soak at a slightly cooler temperature while listening to the rain turned out to be exactly right. The Room was well designed and functional, and I didn’t feel any particular inconvenience. If I had to name one thing I personally wished for, it would be a Bluetooth speaker—I wanted to play a little music, though that may be asking too much. I arrived before noon, left my luggage, and had lunch at “Saryo Sese” on the property (I had requested seats in advance). It’s not cheap, but it was relaxed and enjoyable. After that, I spent some time walking around the city and then checked in properly. The evening champagne free-flow was also wonderfully unhurried, and the rice crackers served as snacks were delicious. For dinner we ate at one of the Hotel restaurants as well; each dish had its own character, and it paired nicely with drinks. If anything, I only wished there were a bar in the Hotel—this is an Accommodation with an atmosphere where having somewhere for “one more drink” would fit perfectly. The area around the Hotel is very quiet too, so even a small bar could really change how you spend your time here. That said, given the location, waking up early to stroll toward Todai-ji in the calm morning is also lovely—and perhaps that kind of stay suits this Accommodation and setting better than staying up late. The concierge team helped me greatly throughout my stay. Overall it was an excellent Accommodation, and I’d love to return when I visit Nara again.

    The staff were frien...

    The staff were friendly, but I was disappointed that the amenities were not very well stocked for the price. The bathrobe was also heavy and far too stiff. The food wasn’t bad, but it didn’t have much that stood out. The garden lights in the evening were wonderful.

    Luxury

    From check-in and being shown to our Room, to the service during meals and through check-out, all staff were kind and welcoming. The meals were also very delicious. The entrance gate is narrow, so getting in and out by car was a bit difficult, but that was the only minor issue.

    Relax in Nara

    We were able to take our time and truly enjoy Nara. The meals were delicious and served in just the right portions. We would love to visit again as a couple.

    This is a Hotel I’d love to stay at again.

    I’ve been traveling about once every 2–3 months for the past 10 years. Now that I’m past 60, I tend to stay only at high-quality Hotels, and I believe this Hotel ranks among the best. The staff were extremely kind, and I’d like to visit Nara again just to stay here. The restaurant is also wonderful and very photogenic. Dinner Reservations can be made on the day, but I highly recommend Reserving the course meal in advance. I will definitely return.

    Highly satisfied

    We stayed with seven family members to celebrate my mother’s 88th birthday. Everything was excellent. This trip was for my mother, whose appetite has decreased due to illness, and we truly appreciated the thoughtful care and attention. If I had to mention one thing, even though we made a Reservation for lunch at Yoyo and pre-ordered the menu in advance, it felt like the food took a long time to be served.

    A Refined, Tranquil Stay in True Nara Style

    My wife and I stayed for one night at Shisui, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Nara. The staff were consistently welcoming, and the meals were delicious with a health-conscious feel. The Room was elegantly furnished, and the in-room Onsen felt wonderfully warming to the core. One small point was that the room temperature was slightly high; having a way to ventilate a little would make the stay even more comfortable. Also, since the Room is spacious, it would be helpful to have space to open suitcases or a foldable luggage rack. In addition, considering the room rate, I felt that more substantial complimentary amenities would further enhance satisfaction. Overall, we were very satisfied, and I think this is a Hotel I can recommend as a place to stay in Nara.

    An Accommodation Where Tradition Meets Innovation

    Thank you for taking care of us on our one-night, two-day trip to Nara. The location was extremely convenient—close to Kintetsu-Nara Station and within walking distance of Todaiji Temple, Kofukuji Temple, and Kasuga Taisha Shrine. The Facility had a historic atmosphere while also being equipped with the latest amenities, so we were able to stay comfortable even in the cold winter. We made various requests during our stay, and you kindly accommodated every one of them. The complimentary Hotel tour was a very satisfying activity. From the guest room, the garden looked somewhat unmanicured at first, but we later learned that this area is designated as a Tangible Cultural Property of Nara Prefecture and is carefully preserved to retain as much historical value as possible. When we visit Nara again, we would love to stay here once more. Thank you very much.

    I had a relaxing stay.

    I stayed in a room with a bath during the colder season. The water temperature and quality were excellent, but depending on the room, it felt more like a unit bath since it wasn't on the garden side. I wish there was an option to choose the garden side when making a reservation. However, it was quiet, retained its traditional charm, and offered a luxurious atmosphere that I thoroughly enjoyed. The breakfast was gentle and delicious, perfect for us seniors. It was a memorable birthday. Thank you very much!

    The toilet does not open automatically. The café restroom sink does not provide hot water. Breakfast explanation is insufficient, and no discount is offered even if you cannot eat it.     The air conditioning is not functioning properly.

    Before the stay, I requested feather-free bedding but received no response regarding whether the request was accepted or possible. This lack of communication left me feeling uncertain. A reply should have been provided. I booked a room with an onsen, but the noise from the onsen machinery was loud and had to be stopped upon my request. Apparently, this is a common issue. Additionally, the ventilation system's noise was also disruptive, but I was told it could not be turned off. I've previously raised similar complaints about air conditioning systems at Edition Ginza and feel that there is a lack of consideration in using uniform contractors during construction. It seems that too much focus is placed on stylish interiors at the expense of actual comfort. Regarding the onsen, moisture leaked through glass doors to such an extent that even in winter, cooling was necessary due to excessive humidity—this appears to be a structural flaw. When I arrived in my room, I found the air conditioning set at 25°C without any explanation. I adjusted it to heating at 20°C as it felt too warm initially but later turned it off when it became uncomfortable again. A butler who came by later mentioned they didn’t know why cooling had been set initially and advised against turning off heating since Nara gets cold at night. Taking their advice seriously, I left it on while sleeping only for temperatures to rise excessively during the night and disrupt my sleep further; neither turning off heating nor switching back onto cooling resolved discomfort effectively. Eventually offered another room solely for sleeping purposes—it too had its AC preset (23°C), accompanied by explanations suggesting leaving settings unchanged lest things worsen temperature-wise instead!     Relax and unwind at your own pace.

    We stayed for 2 nights. We discovered the Champagne Hour starting at 5:00 PM during our stay, and it was a delightful time for us before dinner. The view from the window was also wonderful. We appreciated having the option to choose between Japanese and Western-style breakfast. The gym being available 24 hours was another great feature.

    Exploring your regular accommodation in Nara

    Living in Tokyo, I visit Nara about twice a year to relax. Being accustomed to hotels in the city and decent ryokans, I tend to evaluate accommodations more critically. Overall, I think this is not a bad hotel, but understanding customer needs deeply requires tradition and prestige. While it may be asking for too much, I feel there is room for growth in this regard.

    I stayed at the Hote...

    I stayed at the Hotel at the end of September. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the building. The champagne free-flow and dishes made with Nara ingredients were excellent. However, I was disappointed that the IKYU Diamond Member benefits were not offered to me, even though I forgot about them myself—it should have been naturally presented by the Hotel staff, but nothing was mentioned, so I couldn't use them in the end. Additionally, I felt there was a lack of explanation about the Facility from the staff. When leaving, I expected someone to take a photo for me and see me off, but they quickly went back inside without doing so. It was surprising that there was no send-off at a Hotel of this class. With better staff training and improvements in these areas, it could become a Hotel I'd want to visit again.

    It was unfortunate.

    When I called to add drinks to the minibar, I requested to use the IKYU Diamond Member exclusive FB credit of 3,000 yen for the payment, and they agreed. I also conveyed the same request at checkout, and they agreed again. However, later I found that the amount was deducted from my card, so I emailed the Hotel to confirm, only to be told that the above credit cannot be used for the minibar. If that's the case, why didn't the Hotel mention it when I asked twice? It was a very disappointing response for a Hotel in this price range.
