An Accommodation You’ll Want to Stay More Than One Night
I’ve stayed at many Accommodations, but this is the first time I’ve felt this reluctant to check out after just one night. In terms of a truly special experience, this Accommodation may be in a class of its own. I can see why YouTubers and celebrities are so hooked on it.

An exclusive one-night stay for just one group, savoring the finest of Aizu.
[Overall] This Accommodation is a truly special place—one where the stay itself becomes the purpose of the trip. It goes far beyond what the phrase “luxury Ryokan” can capture, bringing together history, atmosphere, cuisine, Onsen, and heartfelt hospitality as one. With only one party per day, we enjoyed rare tranquility and the indulgent feeling that time was flowing just for us. [Facilities & Guest Room] The stately traditional Japanese architecture feels steeped in history, and from the moment you pass through the gate you step into an extraordinary world. The guest room, meanwhile, is a refined Japanese-modern space that preserves traditional beauty while offering contemporary comfort. It is exceptionally spacious, with a living area, dining area, bedroom, and terrace—each inviting a different way to relax. The building’s heritage and furnishings are elegant yet never intimidating. Everything was impeccably clean down to the smallest details, and there were no compromises in facilities or amenities. Rather than “an old place preserved as-is,” it felt like an Accommodation that has evolved beautifully while honoring its history. [Onsen & Sauna] Because you can enjoy Higashiyama Onsen in your room at your own pace, there’s no need to worry about time or other guests. Opening the glass door creates an open-air feel; soaking while breathing fresh air and listening to the river was exceptional. There is also a private sauna, and being able to enjoy both Onsen and sauna anytime—and as many times as you like—is a privilege unique to an Accommodation limited to one party per day. We came intending to sightsee but ended up wanting to stay in all day—it was that comfortable. [Dining] The meals are not simply lavish; they let you experience Aizu’s history and food culture itself. From their signature basashi (horse sashimi) to local specialties made with regional ingredients, each dish was beautifully presented and brought new surprises. Rather than serving traditional cuisine unchanged, it is refined with modern sensibility into an Aizu samurai-style kaiseki experience. The food paired with the tableware, local sake selections—even the dining setting—felt like a complete work of art. [Service] Most memorable of all was the hospitality from the staff. With dedicated support throughout our stay we felt completely at ease—yet they never overstepped their presence always respecting just the right distance for us to relax. It wasn’t merely formal politeness; every conversation and guidance conveyed a genuine desire to make our stay exceptional. They avoided any of that tension sometimes found at high-end properties—letting us be ourselves—which I believe is what true service really means.

It was wonderful.
I chose this Accommodation for my boyfriend’s birthday trip. It was my first stay here, and it far exceeded my expectations. Above all, the staff’s service was truly outstanding, and I was moved by every thoughtful gesture. The property has the charming presence of a grand traditional Japanese house, and the garden is beautifully maintained. We enjoyed a luxurious time dining at a relaxed pace while looking out over the garden. The basashi (horse sashimi) in particular was the best I’ve ever had—absolutely unforgettable. The Room was spacious and spotless, very comfortable, and the view from the window was wonderful. The building also has delightful surprises and playful touches that even first-time guests can enjoy, which kept me excited throughout our stay. They also offer an excellent selection of sake, so I especially recommend this Accommodation to sake lovers. It was one of the most memorable places I’ve ever stayed—completely satisfying in every way. I will definitely return.

A one-of-a-kind stay where timeless beauty meets modern comfort
Having stayed at many luxury Onsen Ryokan, I thought I had a clear set of standards and expectations. This stay, however, completely reshaped them. Throughout our visit, one dedicated host supported us from start to finish. Thanks to their warm hospitality and the seamless teamwork of the entire staff, we were able to enjoy an extraordinary experience made possible only because the Accommodation welcomes just one party per day. Above ground, the garden, teahouse, and dining spaces showcase traditional Japanese beauty; below ground lies a quiet suite equipped with state-of-the-art amenities. Tradition and innovation—history and comfort. These seemingly opposing qualities blended with surprising ease, creating a truly one-of-a-kind world found only here. The atmosphere that reflects Aizu’s history was remarkable, as was the kaiseki cuisine featuring horse meat—so outstanding that we would return just for the food alone. To preserve the joy for first-time guests, I won’t describe specific moments in detail. But there is one thing I want to share: Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, new moments of awe awaited us again and again. This is not an inexpensive Accommodation. Even so, by the end of our stay we genuinely felt it was “a bargain for what we experienced.” Very few places can make you feel that way. Finally, my heartfelt thanks to our host who supported this wonderful stay, as well as all staff members and chefs. In today’s world where efficiency is often prioritized above all else, your commitment to Japanese hospitality feels more valuable than ever. Through your care, we felt the sincerity and pride passed down in Aizu—and touched something of its spirit itself. Even though we speak very little Japanese, you treated us warmly throughout; we never felt a language barrier and could relax with complete peace of mind. Thank you sincerely for an unforgettable and irreplaceable stay.

Thank you for your warm hospitality and for the wonderful memories in Aizu.
We stayed here to create precious family memories. We sincerely appreciate the attentive hospitality shown by the manager and all staff. [Hospitality & Service] We were truly moved by the surprise anniversary cake and by your taking time, despite being busy, to show us famous spots in Aizuwakamatsu. Thank you for your warm consideration that added so much to our trip. [Dining & Scents] The basashi (horse sashimi) at dinner was extremely fresh, and my family praised it highly, saying they would love to have it again. However, one issue was that the detergent smell from the hand towels in the evening dining area and the incense scent in the hallway were very strong, making it difficult to enjoy such delicate cuisine. It unfortunately reduced our appetite. By the next morning you responded immediately and made improvements flexibly; we truly appreciated your quick action and professional hospitality. [Room & Facility] Given the price of our stay (just under JPY 400,000), we had certain expectations regarding quality, but we had concerns about the bedding. The Simmons bed was comfortable; however, the additional floor mattress was far too thin, causing body pain and preventing us from resting properly. [Massage] The treatment was disappointing enough that I considered asking to stop midway. [Finally] At both the beginning and end of our trip, we heard graphic details from the manager about a serious traffic accident on the Ban-etsu Expressway. For a family arriving with excitement to make once-in-a-lifetime memories, hearing something so distressing right at the start of our journey was very painful. Moreover, on our way home—while trying to enjoy lingering happy feelings—we were told about the same accident again in detail and were even informed precisely where it happened. It left us feeling deeply upset and saddened. Even after returning home, seeing related news still pains us. It is truly regrettable that such wonderful hospitality has been overwritten by a sad memory.

It was the best Accommodation!
We stayed here to celebrate my parents’ golden wedding anniversary. It was simply outstanding. First, we were welcomed at check-in with a matcha tea service! I’ve stayed at many Accommodations, but this was my first time experiencing matcha as a welcome drink. Next, the Room we were shown to exceeded all expectations, with an incredible range of amenities—drink dispensers including alcohol, and a refrigerator stocked with many kinds of beverages. On the shelves were beautiful Aizu lacquerware pieces. The bath was also wonderful; the floor had a tatami-like material, which was another first for me. The meals were luxurious and delicious. I initially thought dinner might be a bit too much food, but thanks to the relaxed pacing of the service, even my mother—who has recently been eating less—was able to finish everything, and we were truly satisfied. My parents were delighted, and I enjoyed every moment as well! It’s such a shame we didn’t have more time in our schedule since we traveled from far away. I hope we can come back again while my parents are still healthy.

The cherry blossoms and hospitality were both outstanding!
Fortunately, we were able to visit right when the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. This Accommodation is known for its wonderful hospitality, but since it wasn’t a special anniversary for us and we didn’t need Shuttle Service, we assumed we wouldn’t be particularly moved by the service. However, when we consulted them about something that had been slightly on our minds, they made an incredibly generous offer. It was so unexpected that my husband and I looked at each other like, “Wait—what do you mean?” (laughs). Is this just normal here? We were amazed by kindness beyond belief. The Room was just as spacious and lovely as we had imagined. When we stepped out onto the balcony, a river flowed beyond a neatly trimmed bamboo grove, and we could hear Japanese bush warblers singing. We brought drinks into the large semi-open-air bath and spent an absolutely blissful time there. Aizu sake really is delicious. It’s amazing that you can enjoy as much chilled alcohol as you like in the Room with a single push (three types of sake, plus shochu, wine, and whisky). We asked for smaller portions at dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the carefully prepared local cuisine. By the way, the rolled omelet at breakfast was hands-down the best I’ve ever had. Everything was comfortable, but since the nightwear is Hotel-style loungewear rather than pajamas, those who prefer pajamas may want to bring their own. The next day before breakfast, we visited Tsuruga Castle. In the quiet grounds early in the morning, we fully enjoyed both the magnificent pale-pink cherry blossoms in full bloom and the beautiful castle itself. We felt truly grateful to have come at exactly this time. It was a stay where time seemed to pass far too quickly. Our casual chat with the manager in the tea room was interesting and fun; if only we’d had a bit more time to talk—I would have loved to hear more about Aizu as well. We stopped by some of the shops they recommended us and bought our target sweets and honey before heading home. Thanks to you all, it became a wonderful trip. Thank you very much.

This was an exceptional Accommodation—truly the best we’ve ever stayed in!
We stayed here to celebrate my wife’s birthday. First, we truly appreciated the kind pickup from Aizuwakamatsu Station. On top of that, you guided us to some well-known local sights and even stopped by the most famous one, Tsuruga Castle. It was our first time in Fukushima and we didn’t know much about the sightseeing spots, but thanks to all your helpful information, it made us want to come back and explore Fukushima more slowly next time. After arriving at the Accommodation, we were served matcha in a separate annex from the main residence, and you also showed us a beautiful Japanese garden. We were told it looks different with spring cherry blossoms and autumn foliage as well, so we’d love to visit again in another season. When we entered the main residence, you showed us classic antiques and a Room that used to be run as a traditional restaurant. It really built up our excitement about what our Room would be like. Since it was located underground, we assumed we might not be able to enjoy any outside views—but the moment we opened the door, there was an incredibly spacious and beautiful modern Japanese-style Room beyond anything we imagined. With unlimited drinks available and plenty of beverages stocked in the refrigerator, we were already thrilled. To our surprise, there was a river flowing just outside the window. The balcony was stylish and spotless, and there was even an elegant fireplace—everything was wonderful. The bath let us fully enjoy Higashiyama Onsen (Onsen), and it even came with a sauna; it was perfect. Dinner featured their most famous basashi (horse sashimi), along with Fukushima’s local dish kozuyu, tempura manju buns, sakura nabe (horse hot pot), celebratory dishes for special occasions, and more—an abundant meal with great variety. The basashi in particular was overwhelmingly delicious—better than anything I’ve ever had—and honestly made us want to come back just for that alone. Since it was my wife’s birthday trip, you also surprised us by preparing a birthday cake. Your hospitality went above and beyond—we were truly moved. Thank you very much. Breakfast was also excellent: Koshihikari rice cooked in a traditional hagama pot along with many side dishes such as salmon, rolled omelet (tamagoyaki), sea bream carpaccio (tai), eel (unagi), and more. There were so many options that everything tasted so good I ended up having multiple refills of rice. Checkout time felt far too soon—we’re sincerely grateful for such an Accommodation where you simply want to stay forever. You also drove us back to Aizuwakamatsu Station on departure day; it really was attentive service from start to finish. We will definitely return in another season. Thank you again for everything.

We truly enjoyed an extraordinary, one-of-a-kind experience.
We stayed here to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday. - Room & amenities: The private space was even more luxurious than the photos, and the room was fully equipped with everything we could need. The amenities were also excellent—especially THREE, which I love, so I really enjoyed them. - Hospitality & service: Even while assisting other guests, the staff kindly and quickly helped us with sightseeing plans outside the stay, surprise arrangements, and transportation logistics. My girlfriend was truly delighted. - Onsen & bath: For an in-room bath, it was exceptionally well appointed and even included a sauna. It was also wonderful that the large openable window let us enjoy the view directly from the bath. - Facility & equipment: There were multiple hair dryers so we never had any trouble, and there was a great selection of glassware—enough to compare all-inclusive drinks—so there’s nothing to fault. - Dining: Starting with their signature horse sashimi, we were served an incredible variety of dishes rooted in Aizu cuisine—we were so full we couldn’t finish everything. With the head chef cooking exclusively for us, we could enjoy each dish at its best and at exactly the right timing. - Overall satisfaction: Both my girlfriend—the star of the trip—and I were extremely satisfied. The sense of something special never faded from start to finish, and thanks to our dedicated butler it became a truly memorable journey. Thank you very much.

Everything was excellent.
Everything was satisfying. I am especially grateful to the staff who kindly guided me around the city by car. If I may suggest, having a cold bath alongside the sauna would make it even better. This is an accommodation I definitely want to visit again. Thank you for the wonderful memories!

Everything was perfect! An accommodation I want to stay at again.
The best accommodation I have ever stayed at! Everything, from the room to the service, was perfect, and I had an incredibly comfortable stay. Additionally, the shuttle service was very accommodating to our requests, including making stops along the way, which was greatly appreciated. The meals were absolutely delicious and visually stunning—completely satisfying in both taste and presentation. However, the portions were quite large and might be a bit overwhelming for some women. Because of that one point, I rated it 4 stars instead of 5, but other than that, it’s a flawless accommodation!

An Accommodation You'll Want to Post About for the First Time
This was the best accommodation I have ever stayed at. High-level hospitality, memorable and delicious meals, clean and sophisticated facilities, and more. I was also impressed by the shuttle service, which felt almost like a private sightseeing taxi. If I had to point out one thing, it might be that the stairs to the room could be challenging for elderly guests (especially after drinking?). Overall, it definitely deserves a 5-star rating. I would love to visit again if given the chance.

This is the epitome of luxury.
Exclusive accommodation for one group per day, offering a serene and relaxing stay for couples. We traveled from Tokyo to Koriyama by Shinkansen, followed by a comfortable shuttle service in a V-Class Mercedes-Benz from Koriyama to the accommodation (shuttle service within the prefecture is available at 5,000 yen one way). Along the way, we were delighted with flexible stops such as a café with views of Mount Bandai. The accommodation features stunning wooden architecture, including a tea room with its own water station and a garden pond where koi fish swim. Guests can choose rooms with views that enhance their dining experience. The main room for staying is located underground, giving it an exciting secret hideout feel. Despite being underground, there’s also a terrace overlooking beautiful bamboo groves and flowing streams on the mountain slope. A bioethanol fireplace adds warmth and charm while allowing guests to enjoy the sound of water without worrying about insects due to thorough pest control measures. The cuisine was exceptional—flavors deeply rooted in Tohoku traditions yet perfectly balanced even for those who prefer lighter Kyoto-style dishes like us. Starting with "kozuyu," Aizu's traditional New Year dish rich in scallop flavor, followed by grilled fish, small side dishes, horse sashimi served with mustard miso, fried buns, soba noodles—all crafted using local ingredients from Aizu to perfection. The culinary experience felt Michelin-star-worthy. During our stay, the manager acted as our butler and provided invaluable assistance in planning sightseeing spots and departure arrangements after our afternoon tour on the following day—making this trip truly memorable. From engaging historical stories shared by an excellent manager to accommodating chefs who cater even multi-night stays with Japanese/Western/Chinese options upon request—and kind staff members—the warmth of people here complements outstanding facilities and cuisine beautifully. Thank you so much for this wonderful experience! We look forward to visiting again soon. Wishing everyone good health until then!

This luxurious ryokan, which accommodates only one group per day, has received high review ratings, and we understand that expectations may be high. Upon your arrival, we hope you experienced nothing less than "ultimate relaxation." Fukushima Trip
We stayed for one night from June 7th as a family of four. This was a beautiful, traditional Japanese-style accommodation with an exclusive reservation for one group, including the lovely garden. From arrival to departure, we were grateful for the warm and heartfelt hospitality. The room offered unlimited drinks, and we enjoyed delicious sake. Stepping out onto the terrace, we were soothed by the bamboo grove and the sound of a flowing river, allowing us to relax completely. The meals were thoughtfully prepared based on our children's requests in advance, which was very helpful. Even my wife, who usually doesn't enjoy horse sashimi (basashi), found it delicious and was thoroughly satisfied. As a family who loves traveling and has stayed at various accommodations both domestically and internationally, this was unanimously declared by our children as the best accommodation we've ever experienced. We look forward to visiting again during another season when we can feel the beauty of nature's changes.

A Journey Filled with Kindness
It was a Multiple Night Stay filled with surprises, and the time flew by. The kindness in every word and gesture from the staff made this the warmest Accommodation I have ever experienced. Of course, the Room was very clean, blending traditional Japanese style with a touch of modern elegance. Typically during a Multiple Night Stay, I often find myself calling the front desk for more bottled water as it runs out quickly. However, at Tsuruga-san, there was no need for that—there were plenty of water bottles and beverages stocked in the refrigerator! Truly grateful for such thoughtful hospitality. The meals were diverse and delicious, complemented by beautiful views from the window that allowed us to enjoy a serene and sophisticated time. What left the deepest impression on me during this trip was undoubtedly the staff. Their warmth, kindness, and heartfelt hospitality are unforgettable—words cannot fully express my gratitude. It was a journey that brings back gentle feelings whenever I think about it. I hope to visit again in the near future. Thank you so much to all of your wonderful staff!

Accommodation offering the ultimate luxury experience
We visited for our honeymoon. We were drawn to the idea of a beautiful room available for only one group per day, and it was exactly as shown in the photos! The historic building and the spacious, clean room amazed us right away. The dishes prepared by the chef right in front of us were all exquisite, and we regretted not being able to finish everything because we were so full (laughs). With a wide variety of all-inclusive options, expansive onsen baths, and breathtaking seasonal natural scenery... There are too many wonderful services to list here. The warm hospitality from the friendly staff healed us as we enjoyed Aizu's rich history and culture while spending luxurious moments. We hope to work hard every day so that we can return to see different seasonal landscapes and meet everyone again. Thank you for creating such wonderful memories!

An Accommodation Blending Modern and Retro Styles
Located near a historic samurai residence, this accommodation combines the charm of a traditional restaurant with modern facilities in its underground space. Guests can enjoy luxurious relaxation with personalized service from dedicated butlers. The all-inclusive rooms feature an in-room bar, making it especially enjoyable for those who love drinks. The refrigerator is also stocked with a wide variety of non-alcoholic beverages. Meals are served at the restaurant on the upper floor. However, depending on the season, insects may appear, which might affect some guests' preferences. The meals were delicious and very generous in portion size. While it might be difficult to finish everything, leaving food was encouraged so guests could dine comfortably without worry. It was my first time trying Aizu cuisine, and every dish was delightful. The horse sashimi stood out for its freshness and lack of any unpleasant odor. From the open-air bath and terrace, you can enjoy views of the river flowing behind the property while being soothed by its gentle sounds. Additionally, there is a lovely smoking room within the room itself to ensure comfort for both smokers and non-smokers alike. Snacks and amenities were plentiful; there’s hardly anything you need to bring yourself. From check-in until just before check-out, I felt pampered by their hospitality and had a truly relaxing stay.

Thank you for the wonderful two days.
I visited with my mother. Discovered a wonderful Property in Aizuwakamatsu and made a Reservation. We wandered around not knowing the entrance, but arrived safely. We were immediately welcomed by the butler. The Japanese garden viewed from the tea room was beautiful, just as the snow was beginning to melt. After enjoying tea and sweets in the tea room, we were guided to our Room. As we descended, wondering "Is it here?", we found a wonderful Room. There were various types of alcohol to drink, and the refrigerator was well-stocked, making it a paradise for those who love alcohol. The garden area had a bamboo grove and the sound of a stream, and the bath was open and inviting, so we used it many times. I particularly value meals during my travels, and everything was delicious. Aizu's traditional dish, Kozuyu, had a gentle flavor reminiscent of Niigata's Noppe, and the fresh horse sashimi, small dishes, and the soba we had at the end were all incredibly delicious. It was so much fun talking with the butler about ingredients and the history of Aizu while eating, that time flew by. I was so full it was almost uncomfortable. In the morning, we had another wonderful meal in a different Room. I believe they offered delicious local produce, enhancing the ingredients even further. The freshly made rolled omelet was delicious. Everything was so good that it made me want to visit this Ryokan again. My mother and I talked about wanting to visit Tsuruga in Akasaka next time. We will definitely visit again, so thank you in advance.

Thank you very much once again.
Thanks to Tsuruga Higashiyama Sohonzan, we were able to welcome the best and brightest New Year from 2024 to 2025. We are truly grateful. As I have aged, I have started choosing hotels (Ryokan) as the main focus of my trips rather than sightseeing. I think Tsuruga Higashiyama Sohonzan is Japan's Aman. My 6-year-old grandchild, who stayed with us, said, "This is my favorite among the hotels I've stayed at! Please celebrate my 7th birthday here too!" and we will be in your care again. Of course, the wonderful facilities were impressive, but it seems the attentive service, like that for a princess, was what delighted her.

Buy luxurious time
A property with excellent facilities, a property with excellent meals, a property with excellent hospitality... There are many, but honestly, there are not many that cover everything. And this time, I finally encountered one... The excellence is evident from other people's comments as well. It was truly a luxurious time that could be called a reward for the year. (The meals are excellent in both quantity and quality, so I recommend skipping or having a light lunch!) Also, I had the opportunity to hear from the manager about the history that shapes the city of Aizuwakamatsu, and I realized that getting to know the region like this is also one of the joys of travel, which warmed my heart. I would love to visit again for another rewarding trip!

A unique experience
We used the property to celebrate my husband's birthday. Throughout the trip, we received hospitality that exceeded our expectations. We were accompanied by two preschool children, and they kindly provided an additional child seat during the shuttle service, supported us during any troubles, and engaged with the children through delightful snacks and activities at every opportunity. Our 2-year-old daughter couldn't stop expressing her joy and excitement. The manager had deep knowledge of the local area and beyond, sharing fascinating stories during our sightseeing and meals. They seemed to have close relationships with nearby shops and tourist spots, offering introductions to attractive places and many kind gestures. Additionally, they responded to our requests and more, for which we are truly grateful. The main celebrant, my husband, expressed his utmost satisfaction, saying, "There have been wonderful stays before, but this was the best trip ever, enjoying not just with family but also with the local people and town." The recommended horse sashimi was also exquisite, so we will visit the shop in Tokyo Akasaka. Thank you very much for the wonderful hospitality.

A moment of supreme bliss
We visited in mid-November, during the beautiful autumn foliage season, to celebrate our child's birthday. Since the property accommodates only one group per day, we were able to relax without any worries, even with a small child. The hospitality was outstanding, and it was an experience filled with continuous amazement, to say the least, it was "the best." The room, bath, and cuisine were all truly perfect, and although we have stayed at numerous hotels and ryokans before, this was the first time we experienced such attentive hospitality at a property. In the well-maintained Japanese garden, there were cute koi fish, and our child was delighted to feed them. The room had drinks that children would like, and the meals were served to the child first, which was a thoughtful gesture. The amenities being from THREE was also a nice touch. The cuisine was originally from a renowned restaurant visited by many celebrities, and it was very delicious. There were many dishes that made the most of the local ingredients' flavors, and the presentation, using Aizu's famous lacquerware and inspired by daimyo processions, was visually beautiful and enjoyable, making us indulge in more sake. From the shuttle service to everything else, the attention to detail was impeccable, making us fall even more in love with Aizuwakamatsu and creating wonderful memories. We would love to visit again! Thank you very much.

A memory for a lifetime
I was drawn to the special phrase "limited to one group per day" and decided to make a reservation, which turned out to be a great decision. We arrived early, but were warmly welcomed and treated to tea and sweets in a lovely tea room while learning about the history of the property, which was once a restaurant. When we were shown to our room, it was breathtaking. It was spacious, clean, and stylish down to the smallest detail, exceeding our expectations. For dinner, we enjoyed a variety of Aizu's local dishes, and the sake was delicious. The proprietress and manager provided detailed explanations of the dishes, and before we knew it, nearly three hours had passed, which was surprising (laughs). All the dishes were delicious, but the horse meat and the limited-time matsutake mushrooms were particularly outstanding. The semi-open-air bath, sauna, large TV, and terrace were all wonderful, and before we knew it, it was midnight. It's rare to feel that sleeping time is so precious. (laughs) Even though I was reluctant to sleep, the luxurious bed was incredibly comfortable, and I fell into a deep sleep before I knew it. Breakfast was a luxurious experience, prepared just for us right in front of us. I felt bad for not being able to finish it all, but it was very delicious. I was touched by the thoughtfulness of the souvenir we received at the end. From the welcome to the farewell, thank you for an unforgettable and wonderful experience. I thought it would be a once-in-a-lifetime visit, but I would love to come again if I have the chance.

I thought various things were amazing...
I visited for my husband's birthday. We arrived a little early, so I contacted the inn to let them know we would visit the samurai residence in front of the inn first. They kindly informed us that if we mentioned we were staying with them today, we could go straight through. When we mentioned it at the reception, they said, "We've heard!" and we were smoothly admitted and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The inn itself seemed like a grand mansion... and then we were told at the entrance, "Today, this place is reserved exclusively for you," and I thought, oh yes, that's right. But then they said, "Let's go to the room in the basement..." and I thought, "Basement?" But when we went there, I was truly amazed! The beautiful, expansive modern Japanese space was more than I had imagined, with a great sense of style in every corner, and the atmosphere of the outdoor terrace was also wonderful! Above all, the food was extremely satisfying in both taste and volume. The specialty horse sashimi was cut thicker than I had ever seen before, and the liver was so exquisite that I wanted to return to Aizu just to eat it again. Even though we wanted to finish everything, there was an overwhelming number of dishes and portions. When we mentioned this, we were told that people in Fukushima might think it wasn't enough if you finish everything, so it's okay to leave a little. We were also delighted with the massage for both of us. I thought it was an inn full of hospitality, and I would love to visit again.
