    I couldn't sleep.

    Having a deep interest in Nintendo architecture and Tadao Ando, I made a reservation. On the first morning, I was awakened by construction noise from next door and sunlight streaming through gaps in the curtains that wouldn’t close properly. The second morning was a holiday, allowing me to enjoy a quiet start to the day. By the third morning, construction noise began even earlier and louder, with sunlight through curtain gaps feeling even more intense. Upon opening the curtains, I discovered that the window had been left open while the curtains were drawn. For my fourth night’s reservation—made additionally—I couldn’t secure the same room and had to move rooms. Hoping for improvement, I found that this time there was an unclosable curtain gap directly facing my bed, leading to bright sunlight waking me at 5:30 AM on another sunny morning. Fortunately, as it was a holiday again with no construction work ongoing, I drifted in and out of sleep until after 9 AM. This concludes my four-night stay at Marufukuro Hotel.

    The atmosphere of the Room, breakfast at Carta, light snacks and drinks in the lounge were all wonderful, making for a very comfortable stay. The library where you can learn about Nintendo's history was also very interesting. I would love to visit again for another special occasion.

    Even if you're not interested in Nintendo,

    My husband, who loves games, wanted to stay here, so I made the Reservation without much thought. Upon arrival, I was surprised to see many people taking photos in front of the Hotel, showcasing Nintendo's incredible brand power. Even though I'm not interested in games, I genuinely enjoyed my stay with a cozy lounge and a very functional Room. The Hotel guide tour is also highly recommended; it was educational to learn about Nintendo's history and philosophy. Thank you!

    A hotel like an art museum

    My mother, who loves the interior design of furniture and lighting in the Hotel, mentioned she wished we had stayed for two nights instead of one. The all-inclusive service with a wide variety of alcoholic beverages is great for those who enjoy drinks. With multiple lounges available, there was no feeling of overcrowding, and we could bring drinks, light snacks, or sweets back to our Room to enjoy. My mother, who preferred staying in the Room, was very pleased with this option. For dinner, we wanted to order room service from the Hotel but were disappointed as it wasn’t available. Since my mother couldn’t eat a full course meal at the restaurant and wanted something light like a salad nearby options were limited. It would have been nice if room service was offered for such occasions. When my mother expressed her desire for something light without leaving the Room, I rented a bicycle from the front desk and received detailed directions to Kyoto Station along with precise information about parking locations from a male staff member. Thanks to his accurate guidance delivered promptly and clearly on-site navigation went smoothly without any confusion. On our way back by bicycle it started raining lightly but upon returning the bike key at reception they kindly offered towels immediately which was greatly appreciated! The exceptional hospitality left us deeply impressed. The international staff members also provided excellent service speaking fluent Japanese so naturally that it felt like interacting with native speakers! Regarding bathing facilities while enjoyable overall due-to traditional public bathhouse vibes; seating arrangements proved challenging since chairs seemed too low making them uncomfortable especially difficult accommodating elderly guests experiencing mobility issues such as my mom’s case where prior research revealed external baths availability requiring proactive inquiry rather than upfront explanation during check-in process potentially improving guest experience clarity earlier stages communication helpfulness noted constructive feedback purposes only here shared respectfully intended suggestions improvements future considerations management team awareness perspective enhancement opportunities identified contextually relevant observations included accordingly summarized     Please enjoy the pickles.

    Upon visiting after a long time, I noticed various changes. It's nice to have a refrigerator in the lounge where you can help yourself to prosciutto and other items. I have a request from my family to convey. That's the title, lol. They would be even happier if there were pickles with the prosciutto like before. Also, while the late-night unagi rice balls are, of course, delicious, I wonder if it would be possible to have self-serve green vegetable udon. Even if it's not the same as before, I think it might be possible to have something reasonably tasty as a self-serve option. I would appreciate your consideration. I am always grateful for everyone's efforts. Please continue to be Marufukuro, where we can enjoy delicious and happy times. I personally think that tours by Otonami-san are a good initiative. I support your further development.

    For the first time

    I had known about it for a while, but I never had the opportunity to stay. This time, there was a good plan, so I made a reservation and stayed for the first time. At check-in, I was guided to the lounge and served tea and bean mochi. As I was about to eat, someone holding a tablet was waiting next to me, so I ate quickly. After finishing, they approached for check-in. During check-in, when I entered my address on the tablet, they disappeared, which was quite mysterious for a hotel. The room had an old-fashioned key, so I had to leave it at the front desk when going out. It's not suitable for those who want to stay out late at night. The building consists of three wings, so the guidance suggested going outside to reach the restaurant. However, after breakfast, I was shown a direct route to the accommodation wing by the restaurant staff. I think they could consider the flow a bit more. I chose a Japanese breakfast, and it was very delicious with a high level of originality not found elsewhere.

    Special Hotel

    Visited Kyoto with the purpose of staying at this Hotel. Had a wonderful experience. It was a request from a friend who loves retro architecture, and while preserving the best of the past, it doesn't feel inconvenient. It's not luxurious, but it's a Hotel with character. What I liked the most was the food. Being all-inclusive, it's truly wonderful to pair wines that match the meals within your drinking range. I learned for the first time that domestic wines are made in so many different places. The creative cuisine was also very delicious. The spoon was made of copper? I felt a slight metallic taste, which was a bit disappointing for me, but it shouldn't be a problem for those who don't mind. Breakfast was also really delicious. It seems that meal conditions differ on various sites, so it might be necessary to confirm at the time of Reservation. Also, amenities like lotion are not in the Room, but you can get them by asking the staff. I wanted to stay in the old building, but it's a shame that there are only double Rooms, so friends can't stay together. I wish we had been informed about the Hotel tour on the day after the stay at check-in (we couldn't participate unless my friend confirmed it). The staff were very kind, the lounge was very comfortable, and I thoroughly enjoyed the all-inclusive Hotel life. Thank you very much.

    It's a nice Hotel, but...

    I had a slightly disappointing experience during my third stay. I booked a plan with breakfast, so I contacted the hotel in advance to reserve breakfast time, but it was not coordinated at check-in, and I had to explain it myself. After finishing a morning walk, we went directly to the restaurant, and when we were about to leave after the meal, the restaurant staff guided us to the lounge. Perhaps because I was wearing a coat, it seemed they assumed we were not guests. It was only after going to the front desk to complete the payment process that they realized we were guests. I wish the information had been shared...

    The hospitality was excellent at the Hotel.

    I went to Kyoto with the purpose of staying at a hotel with a high level of storytelling, which was renovated from the former headquarters building of Nintendo. Just stepping in from the main entrance gave me a sense of time travel, and I was able to check in at the reception room located in the same place as back then. The dinner rich in originality with karuta, after-dinner drinks in the lounge and library, and the historical tour of the premises were all of high quality, but what made me happiest was the hospitality spirit of the staff. Despite the heavy snow in Kyoto due to a cold wave, I was able to spend a very warm and cozy time thanks to everyone. Thank you very much.

    High hospitality and simple, sophisticated meals

    It was my first stay. Thanks to visiting at a slightly off-peak time, I was able to relax at this all-inclusive property in Kyoto without much crowd. As a compact, urban all-inclusive, it is outstanding. Since it was our first long-distance stay with a small child, we had various concerns, but the staff maintained a good balance of attentiveness and distance, and they were kind and flexible with the children, for which we are very grateful. Thanks to them, it seems the children also had a memorable experience. They provided a full set of amenities for the children, and we were greatly helped by their meal arrangements, seating at the restaurant, and their tolerance even when the children were a bit noisy (thank you very much). The restaurant had a somewhat unfavorable reputation in reviews and blogs, so we went with that mindset, but it was perfect for us. The menu names were very simple, so at first glance, I thought, "Oh, is this it?" but the dishes that came out were highly refined, offering "simple ingredients prepared in a very elaborate way." Since it was difficult to move around with children, we opted for a plan that allowed us to use the restaurant for lunch the next day, which turned out to be the right choice. The curry and pasta for lunch were memorable dishes even months later, and the plain udon and mild curry for children were also well-received. As a fan of alcohol, I appreciated the free-flow selection, which included local craft beers and (not cheap) good whiskey, allowing me to enjoy a quiet time in the lounge and bar, away from the hustle and bustle, with a book in hand until late at night. Although there are some drawbacks, such as the bath being a bit small, no elevator in the building, and difficulty in using public transportation due to the location, as it is a renovated hotel of a historical building, I believe it offers value for money if the premise is to relax in Kyoto. While I am hesitant to post a good review and attract more people, I felt the most impressive hospitality among the properties I have visited recently, so I am posting this to recommend it to families with children. It seems the price has increased a bit, but I would like to visit again when there are fewer people by adjusting the timing.

    I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and concern caused by my child's illness the other day. Despite that, I was able to enjoy a very pleasant stay thanks to the warm hospitality of the staff. Thank you for your consideration. This time, I stayed for one night and visited other tourist spots, so I couldn't spend much time inside the Hotel, but if I have the opportunity to stay again, I would like to spend more time relaxing inside the Hotel. The atmosphere of the lounge and the Room were also very lovely.

    I am very satisfied except for one point.

    Thank you for accommodating various requests both before check-in and during our stay. The staff seemed to be mostly young, but they provided excellent service. We thoroughly enjoyed the all-inclusive experience. The system allowing guests to take drinks and food from the lounge back to their rooms is great. It was helpful since the refrigerator in the room wasn't very cold. Additionally, the dinner and breakfast at Carta were wonderful experiences. The dishes seemed quite unique. It would be nice to have a clear menu, especially for dinner. It was an excellent stay, but there was one disappointing aspect. The staff was not at fault at all. When I visited the library on the second floor, there were people having a meeting in loud voices. It seemed to be a remote meeting, so I was concerned not only about the voices but also about appearing on the monitor. When I asked the hotel staff, "It seems a remote meeting is being held, but what is going on? I'm concerned," I was told it was a meeting of the owner. I see, if it is the owner, perhaps they can do as they please with their property, but is that really common? I found it hard to understand having a loud meeting in a space meant for guests to relax, especially in a place called a library. The hotel staff responded to my inquiry, and the meeting was interrupted, but it seems they only cleared away the drink trash and did not wipe the used table. This was ignored. I don't think there was even a nod of acknowledgment. The hotel staff apologized politely, but there was no fault on the part of the hotel staff to begin with. It left a bad aftertaste, making me feel like I might have caused unnecessary trouble.

    Daughter's birthday trip

    I visited an inn I had wanted to visit for a long time and celebrated my daughter's birthday. The three lounges each had a different atmosphere, which we enjoyed. We wanted to enjoy the charm of both the old and new buildings, so we paid an additional fee on the day for a room with a terrace, but it was unfortunate that we couldn't enjoy it due to the hot summer weather. I will visit again if I have the opportunity. Thank you very much.
