    Enjoy Kumamoto’s Nature

We were able to spend a relaxing time surrounded by nature. We are truly grateful and very satisfied with both the Onsen and the meals.

    Rainbow!

On the final day of our rainy Kumamoto–Takachiho trip, we stayed at this Hotel.\nIt was my first time using a keyless Room system—entering a code to access both the guest Room area and my own Room—and it was fun. It was also great not having to carry a key around.\nNext to the front desk is a lounge area, and beyond that an infinity pool. After arriving, we enjoyed complimentary drinks there. In addition to alcohol, they also had soy milk and vegetable juice. Since it was before dinner, I told myself not to drink or eat too much… but I ended up having more than I planned (lol).\nThe rain gradually let up. Dinner started while it was still light outside, and a staff member said,\n“There’s a rainbow.”\nBefore dusk, a rainbow appeared in an orange-and-blue sky—beautiful. It may have been slightly improper manners-wise, but I stepped away from the meal and went out to the entrance to take a photo of the rainbow with the Hotel name—one for the memories (lol).\nWhen we returned to the restaurant next to the pool, the sunset was beautifully reflected on the water’s surface!! So glad it cleared up.\nAs an IKYU Diamond member, I could use the private bath (Onsen) twice—once at night and once in the morning. At night there wasn’t much of a view outside, but in the morning it was an open-air bath with views of sea-of-clouds-like mist and mountains. Morning is absolutely recommended!\nI also took a quick look at the large public bath, but perhaps due to yesterday’s rain, the windows were dirty—making me appreciate again how spectacularly scenic (and windowless) those private baths are.\nFor breakfast my friend chose Japanese-style while I chose Western-style, and we enjoyed both. The rice cooked in an iron pot was delicious.\n\nWhy I rated service minus one: At checkout after paying by card, I double-checked “Hmm?” when looking over the breakdown.\nOne extra glass had been added by mistake on top of our wine pairing. It was actually one of our three pairing pours—the red wine—which I don’t like; they had kindly switched it to another white wine for me instead. It must have been miscommunication. Glad we noticed before leaving (lol).\n\nOverall we were extremely satisfied—it was a wonderful Accommodation worthy of our final night of travel.

Stay in a Grand Valley Twin Room with an Open-Air Bath

The Room was wonderful. However, there were two bottles of cider in the freezer that appeared to have been left by a previous guest, and one had burst because it had frozen. There was also a partially consumed bottle of tea. I have stayed at various Accommodations before, but this was the first time I experienced something like this. Since this Hotel is considered one of the more upscale Accommodations and the Room rate was not cheap, I felt disappointed.

    Bath

I felt the indoor bath water temperature was a bit low. Since it was raining, it was disappointing that I couldn’t use the open-air bath, but the sauna was very clean and nice.

    Disappointed with the pool.

My child loves pools, so we were really looking forward to it. The Facility description said, “The pool is heated, so you can relax even on slightly chilly days,” which reassured us. However, even on a comfortably warm day with temperatures around 25°C, the pool water was far too cold and we could barely get in. Around 23°C—heated??? We were very disappointed. ・・・・ Pool This frameless infinity pool, designed to extend out from the hillside, is an iconic feature of Aconcagua. The heated pool allows you to relax even on slightly chilly days. ・・・・

    I was expecting more.

Both dinner and breakfast were very disappointing. The Room had no resort feel at all and was very inconvenient to use. I was surprised that there was no restaurant and the lobby quickly turned into a dining area.

    It is a wonderful Hotel.

It was a very clean Hotel, and I had a comfortable stay. I was glad I could use the lounge, but there were no staff present when I used it, which made me feel uneasy. The photo shows the lounge.

    My expectations were too high.

The Hotel had a wonderful atmosphere. All the staff were very kind and attentive. However, we stayed in different Rooms on the first and second nights, and the amenities in the first Room did not include items such as toner or cleansing products, while they were provided in the second Room. The contents of the refrigerator were also completely different between the two Rooms. The quality of the hair dryer was different as well. I was surprised that things could vary so much depending on the Room. In addition, a hair iron we had reserved in advance was not prepared on the second night, and there were no slippers for one person. The food was very delicious, but the portions are small. The Room felt smaller than it looked in photos, and I may have expected too much, so I was a little disappointed. I think I would have been satisfied if the price had been a bit lower.

Relax in a private bath surrounded by Aso’s natural beauty

We stayed for two nights in an Executive Twin during our family trip over Golden Week. The staff provided cheerful service throughout. It was a little disappointing that the restaurant did not offer à la carte options, but we enjoyed the set course while taking in Aso’s nature and the beautiful pool view. Breakfast was delicious, and the Japanese dishes in particular were beautifully presented with lovely tableware. There were several private baths spacious enough for 2–3 people, so even though I love Onsen but don’t like crowded public baths, I was able to relax at my own pace. The third guest used an extra bed and found the mattress too soft; improving this would make future stays even more comfortable.

    It was truly disappointing.

I was really looking forward to our stay. The Accommodation had a high rating on IKYU, and it was known for having great facilities and hospitality. However, the reality was different. I made a Reservation on IKYU with the No Meals Included Plan. I don’t know whether other plans were fully booked or whether it was because we had a baby. Still, the website said Room service was available for dinner, so we planned to use it. After touring Aso, we checked in at 4:30 p.m., and we were suddenly told that dinner was not available and that we should eat somewhere outside. I couldn’t even bring myself to ask about Room service. We looked for a place nearby, ate out, and when we returned, lounge hours were already over. There was also no explanation of lounge hours at check-in. I complained that the IKYU site stated Room service was available, but they kept insisting that the service is not offered anymore—nothing else. After pushing, they agreed to include breakfast. In the middle of the night in our Room, my wife woke up screaming because she heard a moth flying... It was supposed to be a family trip, but we chose the wrong Accommodation. Very disappointing... The experience left such bad memories that we don’t even have any family photos from this Hotel...

The best accommodation in a long time!

The Room, the views, the private bath, the in-room open-air bath, dinner, and the staff’s hospitality—everything was attentive and we were completely satisfied. The comfort of the Room and the luxurious panoramic views of majestic Aso—whether leaning back against the headboard or soaking in the open-air bath—were truly special. The private bath was also impressively well equipped in a way we haven’t seen at other Accommodations. We always look forward to a club lounge as one of an Accommodation’s highlights, but perhaps it felt a little underwhelming compared with how excellent everything else was. Even though we had been snacking in the lounge beforehand, dinner still whetted our appetite with its careful preparation and beautiful presentation, and we enjoyed every last bite. It was among the top three most comfortable Accommodations we have ever stayed at. We would love to visit again.

    This is a wonderful accommodation.

I stayed here with my child on a family trip. Since we weren’t sure what time we would arrive, we planned a stay with No Meals Included and thought we’d have dinner nearby. In the afternoon, the Hotel called us. They let us know there weren’t any places to eat nearby and kindly offered to prepare an à la carte meal for us. So that we could arrive and relax, they arranged it as room service. When I asked about horseback riding for the next day, they immediately made a Reservation with a riding club. The Facility and amenities were excellent, and it was an Accommodation full of warm hospitality that truly cared for its guests.

    Experience Aso’s Nature and Luxury

We chose this Hotel for a relaxing, luxurious stay surrounded by Aso’s nature, traveling as a family including my elderly mother. At check-in, we were guided to a separate Room and decided on dinner time and whether to have Western or Japanese breakfast. The Western omelet was excellent, but the Japanese breakfast had more dishes; since we weren’t given details of what each option included, I would have appreciated an explanation of the menus. Also, there was no explanation of the free-flow service, so even though it was an ALL INCLUSIVE STAY, we never used it. You can go to the large public bath in loungewear, but there was nothing to throw on, so the hallway felt cold and we ended up wearing bathrobes. The public bath also had a beautifully designed sauna, but there was no water dispenser or bottled water provided, which made us worry about dehydration. The outdoor bath in the public area was too cool to use, but the private bath had both an indoor and outdoor bath and was very relaxing. Our Room also had an open-air bath, and bathing at night while looking at the stars was wonderful. However, even though there were two women in this Room, there was only one set of skincare samples (they were high-end), so we hesitated to use them; it doesn’t need to be luxury items—please provide one set per person. Dinner was an Italian-style full course with carefully chosen tableware that created a truly luxurious atmosphere. If there were a gym, I think we could spend even more time relaxing at the Hotel.

    A Lovely Boutique Hotel

My wife and I stayed here together. Since the building is a complete renovation of an older Facility, there is no elevator and you’ll need to use the stairs, but everything was very clean. However, the open-air bath is quite far down an outdoor stone staircase, so it may be a bit tough during the colder season. More importantly, there are six private baths (not large, but the one I used had both an indoor bath and a semi-open-air bath), so I recommend using those. The meals were delicious with nice tableware, and we also enjoyed chatting with the staff who served us. If I have a chance to visit Kumamoto again, this is a Hotel I’d like to return to.

    We stayed in a Stand...

We stayed in a Standard Twin for a family trip. Dinner was very delicious, and even our child, who usually eats small portions, happily finished the kids’ plate! The service was very polite, but for some reason all the staff had a host-like vibe, which made us feel a bit nervous. We think having female staff as well would feel more reassuring. What disappointed us was that the cleaning didn’t seem to be done properly—there was a plastic bottle from the previous guest floating in the private family bath… The wash basins were stylish and seemed to be black, but they had mineral buildup… We don’t mind if facilities are older, as long as they feel clean… Also, our room was on the second floor and there is no elevator, so we had to carry heavy suitcases up and down ourselves. For elderly guests as well, we felt an elevator might be necessary.

Clean and spacious, with a relaxing atmosphere.

The property is clean and has a relaxing, spacious atmosphere. We booked three Rooms and were able to spend a wonderful, unhurried time with the whole family, including our grandchildren. The kids were thrilled as well. We heard the chef has changed, and the Italian-style dinner was outstanding. The Onsen was great, and the private family bath with hinoki wood was especially soothing. The staff were very kind. We also enjoyed the calm evening bar. Even just the coffee was exceptional—the beans are different. We have stayed here many times and keep coming back.

    Unfortunately.

There are far too many areas that need improvement. - No slippers in the toilet (and of course none in the Room either) - Artificial flowers with bad feng shui; they should be removed - Cheap amenities that don’t match the price (especially the toothbrush) - Wet towels left out (makes me question the cleaning) - A coffee machine is essential - A wash bucket and chair are essential for the bathtub Despite being priced like a luxury Hotel, nothing feels worth the cost. I tried to have high expectations for the meals, but that was disappointing as well. For breakfast, only the rice cooked in a traditional pot was good; everything else lacked variety for what we paid (I at least hoped to enjoy the food, but I was let down). The only “luxury Hotel” feel is from the exterior. Nothing matches the price. It’s hard to even give a star rating. No return visit.

    Just one more step.

The Accommodation has many features you would expect from a luxury resort in every respect, but overall it still feels like it falls just short. In the same price range, there are several top-tier Accommodations within the prefecture, and compared with those… [Facility] It’s new and clean, which is great. The infinity pool and lounge are nicely done, though the overall scale is compact. The private bath was very flexible to use and was excellent. [Service] Some staff members are very good, but for a resort in this price range, many still feel one step behind. There is a lack of guidance around the property. If you ask, they kindly explain. [Dining] The food is tasty, but for this price range I wanted one more step up in both quality and portion size. It felt like good French cuisine at a local restaurant. There was also no explanation of the course or ingredients, which seems unusual for a Hotel of this level.

    Escape the everyday crowds.

Stayed two nights in a Compact Twin. Quietly nestled at the entrance to Aso. On weekdays, we hardly ran into other guests, and could relax at our own pace with the private Onsen and by the poolside. We also received thoughtful local recommendations nearby, so we were able to spend most of our time enjoying the Hotel with minimal sightseeing. Though the staff is a small team, they always greeted guests by name. We fully enjoyed a comfortable stay, along with Aso’s breathtaking views, and we hope to return again for the wonderful pool.

Highly recommended for a trip to Kumamoto!

We stayed here to celebrate a 60th birthday. Time passed so peacefully, and it became a truly memorable day. Thank you very much. The food was excellent, and above all, the hospitality from all the staff was wonderful. We would love to visit again!

    Simply the best.

There weren’t many Reviews, so I was a bit nervous at first, but it was amazing—putting it mildly. That said, if you’re looking for very formal hospitality and highly attentive service, it might not be the best fit. The entrance is unmanned, but the moment you pick up the phone, a concierge appears right away. It’s not scripted service—friendly and with just the right amount of distance—perfect for our family. The food and the baths were both excellent. (The outdoor rock bath was a little lukewarm and there were some bugs, but being surrounded by trees felt wonderfully refreshing.) Having all the locks as electronic key locks was also great—stress-free and convenient.

We were able to relax and unwind at our own pace!

It’s a new Hotel, but I happened to find it at just the right time while looking for a Hotel in Aso and made a Reservation. My intuition was right! It was a wonderful place to relax and enjoy some quiet, adults-only time. Since my arrival time was uncertain, I chose a Plan with breakfast only instead of dinner. The breakfast was delicious, and I could enjoy my meal slowly in a calm, peaceful atmosphere. The bath was excellent as well—wonderfully soothing water. Around this season in Aso, the fresh greenery is beautiful, and when I visited it was perfectly sunny, making the stay very pleasant. The service was great too. It’s a Hotel I would definitely like to stay at again next time.

A wonderful space and warm hospitality

Until now, I had only visited for lunch, coffee, and day-use bathing, but this time I stayed overnight. The space and hospitality are the best in Minamiaso. I will stay again!

Thank you for a wonderful time!

Thanks to the warm, heartfelt hospitality throughout our stay, we were able to spend a wonderful time. In the evenings, the staff kindly made sure the fireplace never went out, and we truly appreciated thoughtful touches such as arranging a seat for my elderly mother close to the fire. The beautifully prepared Japanese cuisine was served on original, elegant tableware, and we enjoyed an abundance of Kumamoto’s local specialties. As others have mentioned, the private free-flowing hot spring bath was outstanding. We would love to return with our family again. It was also a Hotel with a magnificent view of Mt. Aso.

    Breakfast and Private Bath

As we arrived quite late, we only had breakfast, but it was a truly delicious feast full of Kumamoto flavors to start the day. The Akaushi beef, Aso young chicken, the small hot pot with horse tendon, and Aso Koshihikari rice were all outstanding and beautifully presented. The private bath was unexpectedly spacious and spotless, and I enjoyed a relaxing soak alone while gazing at the starry sky. Also, every member of the staff welcomed us with warm smiles and kind service, making our trip to Kumamoto a wonderful memory. Thank you very much!

It was the best birthday trip ever.

When we arrived in our rental car, a staff member quickly came out and moved the car to the parking area, which made a great first impression. The Room was very spacious, and although it was a twin setup, each bed was about king-size, so we slept very comfortably. Each dish was beautifully presented, and my partner was very satisfied. Of course, the food looked beautiful and tasted great as well—though the final Akaushi beef was a little tough. Breakfast was also served on lovely tableware like dinner, with just the right portion size and great flavor. A 12:00 checkout is also nice. We used the private open-air bath; the Facility itself was good, but the changing room was cold. We were told it would be prepared in advance, so it would have been better if the heating had been turned on as well.

    What is hospitality?

We stayed during the peak of an extreme cold wave. There was no greeting or guidance regarding the parking area, and in freezing temperatures we carried our luggage with both hands to the entrance. After passing through the automatic doors, there was another manual door beyond them. Although a male staff member was standing at the front desk, he completely ignored us, which was shocking. After completing check-in, that staff member escorted us to our Room. When he unlocked the Accommodation building door with a keypad, there were steep stairs right in front of us. As we stood there speechless, he simply said, “There’s no elevator.” He then walked ahead quickly without even offering to help carry luggage for two women with heavy bags. It made me wonder what elderly guests or those with mobility issues are supposed to do. I lost any desire to stay before we even entered the Room. We had stayed at another Onsen area the day before where everything was attentive and thoughtful, so the difference in hospitality was stark. We did enjoy a tasty breakfast with Aso’s magnificent nature as a backdrop, but overall it was extremely cold. The hallway outside the Room, the restaurant, the front desk—everywhere—was cold. We had to keep the heater running constantly in our Room, yet there was no humidifier. These days even a Business Hotel usually provides at least a humidifier. Also, why is the bed set on such a high platform? With my knee problems, both climbing stairs and stepping up onto that high bed platform were honestly difficult. It was disappointing given how much we paid for this stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Onsen and the meals.

My wife and I stayed here together in November. We had a compact Valley Twin Room with only a shower, but we used the large public bath and the private bath twice, so it was no problem at all. The Onsen was very close to our Room and felt wonderful. It was also nice not having a room key—being able to enter anywhere with button operation was convenient. We chose the French dinner course, and every dish was beautifully presented and tasted excellent. The dashimaki tamago served at breakfast with oden broth was also delicious, and we were very satisfied. Next time, we’d like to return and try a different Room and meals.

    After enjoying time ...

After enjoying time in Aso, we arrived at the Hotel in a great mood. However, the front desk staff’s attitude was very poor, which was extremely disappointing. I don’t think this is common at Hotels in Japan. Since the other staff were pleasant, it made it even more disappointing. As a service business, I would expect more courteous and attentive service.
