    The meals were excel...

    The meals were excellent, and we had a very pleasant evening. However, it was disappointing that there was mold and grime in the Room bath, and the courtyard was left covered with fallen leaves and did not seem well maintained. The Onsen also felt diluted; I had expected a good Onsen in Yufuin, so this was disappointing. I assumed the price included the Service Fee, but many of the front desk staff seemed inexperienced and unsure in their guidance. There was also no one at the front desk when we entered the Hotel, so we did not feel welcomed. Overall, in terms of attentive service, I felt it did not match the price. I wish I had chosen an Accommodation with more attentive service. The Review rating was high, so it was even more disappointing given our expectations.

    The most relaxing time

    We stayed for two nights, and it was the perfect getaway. The detached guesthouse at the end of a lovely walking path was very comfortable and spacious, and we truly felt at ease. The Onsen had a wonderfully gentle feel, and we enjoyed it many times. The staff were also incredibly warm and welcoming. The meals were outstanding—beautifully balanced flavors, and every dish was deeply satisfying. It was a truly enjoyable stay, and we would love to return someday. Thank you very much.

    Accommodation with Delicious Cuisine

    This is my second stay at this Accommodation, following last year. The food is simply outstanding. In particular, the miso soup is excellent. I’d like to make a Reservation again right away for next time.

    The Onsen had wonder...

    The Onsen had wonderful water, and dinner was delicious. If I had to mention something, the Facility felt a bit old, and I felt the detailed cleaning was slightly lacking. I was also disappointed that breakfast portions were small.

    It was a wonderful accommodation.

    Every dish was delicious, no matter what we tried. As someone with many food preferences, I was completely satisfied. What I appreciated most was how relaxed it felt: since it was a private, whole-building Room, we could step out directly without going through the front desk, take a walk around the area, and return to the Room as usual. It was perfect. The tile floor in the bath washing area looked cold at first, but it was properly heated, which made me very happy. When we mentioned that this was an anniversary trip, we received a wonderful gift—thank you for your thoughtful kindness. Thank you very much.

    Yufuin: A Visit After 20 Years

    I visited Yufuin for the first time in about 20 years. While the famous spots were crowded with tourists, just a step away revealed expansive rural landscapes and a clear view of Mount Yufu when looking up—this scenery remained unchanged (as did the narrow and winding roads). In Yufuin, staying in a room with an open-air onsen is considered somewhat of a status symbol. Taking into account my travel schedule, reviews, and accommodation introduction pages, I decided to stay here. Compared to places I stayed at in the past, this accommodation offered ample facilities such as a bedroom, Japanese-style room, living room, kitchenette with refrigerator (microwave cooking only), private toilet, separate dressing area, indoor bath with onsen water, and an open-air bath—all independent from each other. The detached building itself was spacious enough to resemble a standalone house. Additionally equipped with Wi-Fi and smart TVs for convenience amidst the extraordinary setting made for an exceptionally fulfilling stay. Although Mount Yufu was not directly visible from my room, it could be clearly seen from the road in front of the ryokan. Moreover, one of Yufuin's iconic spots—Lake Kinrin—was less than a 10-minute walk away for leisurely strolls. Given how spacious the room was this time around, I think bringing my family next time would ensure everyone’s satisfaction!

    A Long-Awaited Visit to Yufuin

    I have stayed at Yufuin Bettei Itsuki several times in the past, back when there were no restaurants or other facilities. This time, after quite a long while, I stayed again and was first impressed by the excellence of the staff. The room seems to be quite old, which gives it a certain charm; however, I felt that the cleaning was not up to par. I was particularly disappointed with the bedding... just one small pillow, a thin duvet, and sheets that seemed old and yellowed. While dinner was good, breakfast was quite disappointing... The corn soup clearly tasted instant. It’s such a shame because the staff were truly wonderful. Honestly, I don’t think it’s worth the price charged.

    It was very comfortable.

    The room had a traditional Japanese-style design, featuring both a semi-open-air bath and an indoor bath with ample space. Additionally, the service was excellent, and although there seemed to be many foreign staff members, they provided polite and attentive hospitality. This is an accommodation I would love to use again.

    Reward Trip

    I took a sudden break and, as it was my birthday, decided on a self-reward trip. The room seemed old and inconvenient at first glance, and upon staying, I found the layout indeed impractical. While the room appeared clean at first sight, areas around the refrigerator and under the trash bin were very dusty. The tabletop fan in the bathroom was especially covered in dust, making it dirty and unpleasant. I repositioned it to make the dust visible, but after cleaning the next day, only its position was restored while remaining dusty. Some appliances were dirty or unusable, which was disappointing. On the first day for meals, I was surprised to be seated at what looked like a bar counter. It felt odd eating there; additionally, noise from neighboring rooms made it hard to enjoy my meal properly. Reflecting on this experience made me realize I should have researched hotel information more thoroughly beforehand. However, meals on the second day were tastier by comparison. For multiple night stays with breakfast included—one Western-style meal one day and Japanese-style another—it would be better if guests could choose their preference each morning. This trip taught me a lesson as I had chosen this accommodation solely based on high reviews without deeper consideration due to its last-minute nature.

    The meals were good....

    The meals were good. The facility is old. The bed was too soft and uncomfortable to sleep on. The Onsen water was too lukewarm. It did not suit me.

    A place you'd want to visit again.

    Three years ago in August, we stayed at your accommodation to celebrate my husband's birthday. However, three months later, my husband tragically passed away in an accident, making it our last family trip together. My daughters had been hoping to revisit, but I couldn't bring myself to do so until now when I finally decided to take this step and stay again. When we entered the room, there were tea, sweets, and flowers beautifully arranged for us. At first, I didn’t understand the gesture but was reminded of what I wrote in the remarks section during the reservation when you kindly said "Please enjoy together." During dinner as well, not only was a seat prepared for my husband but also a symbolic offering plate was thoughtfully arranged. I debated whether or not to bring a photo of my husband on this trip but decided against it after my daughter said: "Let’s not make them feel burdened at the accommodation; even without his photo here with us physically, Dad will definitely be with us." Although neither he nor his photo was present there physically during our stay—somehow it felt like he truly was with us. This feeling came from your warm hospitality and thoughtful gestures that deeply touched our hearts. Thank you so much for your kindness and care towards your guests. We would love to stay again in the future; we look forward to that opportunity!

    It was my first visi...

    It was my first visit to Yufuin. I took a bus from Oita Airport, so I was initially worried about transportation from Yufuin Station. This accommodation offers free taxi service between the station and the accommodation, which made it incredibly convenient. The same service is available for the return trip as well. The accommodation is a detached maisonette-style unit with: - A bed and living room on the first floor - A toilet on the second floor - Two open-air baths on the third floor There was an automatic massage chair available after bathing, which I used multiple times. Meals were served in a dining area, and everything was absolutely delicious! There was also a wide variety of alcoholic beverages, including Yamazaki whiskey. Breakfast was equally delightful. I will definitely stay here again! I highly recommend this place to everyone—please give it a try! It was a solo trip to celebrate my 60th birthday, and everything about it was perfect!

    - The sink in the toilet only provides cold water. - The open-air bath is exposed, and there were insects in the bath. It would be nice to have at least a bamboo screen. - Meals: Dinner was well-paced and delicious. For breakfast on the first night, everyone had Western-style meals. It would be great if Japanese-style options were also available. Would like to visit again!

    Satisfaction

    I had a very relaxing stay. Above all, the staff were exceptionally pleasant, making my stay comfortable. The food was also delicious and satisfying, making it a wonderful accommodation. I plan to visit again. Next time, my mother says she would like a room with a view of Mount Yufu from the room.

    The spacious detache...

    The spacious detached room featured both an indoor Onsen bath with natural hot spring water and an open-air bath, allowing us to fully enjoy the relaxing Onsen experience. Meals, both breakfast and dinner, were served in a private dining room with delicious and thoughtfully prepared dishes. We were also impressed by the hospitality of the staff and their attentive care throughout our stay. We would love to visit again!

    Wonderful Stays

    I visited Yufuin for the first time and stayed at this Property. I stayed in the Room called "Utsugi," and the Room was spacious and clean. The Ryokan staff were courteous, allowing me to relax comfortably. The food was delicious, and there was plenty of it, which was very satisfying. I was able to extend my stay for an additional fee and stayed as long as possible. I would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

    To Yufuin for the first time via Hakata

    For our first trip to Yufuin, my wife and I stayed in Hakata the night before, enjoying a seafood feast at a restaurant with a live fish tank. The next day, we stopped by a famous mentaiko French bread shop before heading to Yufuin by rental car. Upon arriving at Yufuin Bettei Itsuki, we strolled around Lake Kinrin and Yunotsubo Kaido, with the route kindly explained to us. The check-in process was smooth, and both the room and the bath were wonderful. For meals, we were guided to a private room suited to our number, allowing us to enjoy a leisurely meal for two. We were thoroughly satisfied with the ingredients, cooking methods, and presentation. The pleasant service, along with the complimentary wine, made for a delightful time. The next day, we drove to Kumamoto Airport via the Yamanami Highway. At checkout, they provided us with detailed route guidance materials, allowing us to reach our destination without getting lost. As we drove off, they waved us goodbye, making it a charming inn that made us want to wave back. It was a journey filled with delicious experiences from the day before, and both my wife and I were extremely satisfied, especially thanks to our stay at Yufuin Bettei Itsuki. We are very grateful to all the staff for their hospitality. Thank you very much.
