    Free Time, Flexible Time, Satisfying Stay

    A repeat visit. Decided to return to this accommodation after my first stay. Great room, great lounge, and great meals allow you to enjoy your own time. The spacious room for one overlooks the courtyard, where you can relax on a block sofa. The wooden flooring feels nice underfoot as you wander around. For dinner at "Mama," the lamb and white celery pizza had a slightly spicy kick with garlic and the aroma of celery. It was so delicious that I took my time savoring it slowly. The lounge is woody with high ceilings, perfect for choosing tea and books to enjoy some alone time. The sense of privacy is just right, making for a quiet night that gently passed by. Breakfast featured Saikyo-yaki grilled fish and clear soup with large clams—a scene that made me appreciate Japanese cuisine. The hotel seems to be taking a short break now; looking forward to its reopening!

    Had a great time.

    Conveniently located within walking distance from both Hankyu Arashiyama Station and Keifuku Arashiyama Station, you can enjoy a serene view of Togetsukyo Bridge at night without the crowds. The single-serving pizza for dinner was delicious, and the Japanese-style clam soup for breakfast offered a delightful fusion of Japanese and Italian cuisine. The quiet environment allowed for restful sleep, and with fewer Rooms available, the staff provided attentive care. With a 12:00 PM checkout time, there was plenty of time to enjoy breakfast, take a walk, and even have a shower before leaving. Although terrestrial TV channels were unavailable, it felt like an opportunity to spend quality time instead.

    Exceptional Hospitality

    I had a fulfilling solo stay. I only remembered Arashiyama as being crowded, but I discovered this highly-rated accommodation for both lodging and dining. From the moment of check-in, there was a thorough explanation, and the barefoot-friendly carpet provided an extraordinary comfort. The room was serene with high ceilings and impressive beams. Taking a shower and lounging on the bed felt luxurious. Although the lounge's hot water dispenser had its quirks, enjoying tea in a rocking chair felt like being in a small library. For meals, I was seated by the window at a prime spot for solo diners. Even during sudden heavy rain, I enjoyed watching it while savoring dishes like sweetfish, pizza, and venison served one after another. Each dish was exceptional, but the venison stood out with its surprising volume—high-protein, low-calorie, great texture without any gamey smell—clearly prepared with excellent skill. Though initially worried if I could finish it all, I managed to enjoy every bite. The next morning at dawn when few people were around, I took pleasure in strolling through Arashiyama peacefully. Breakfast wasn’t flashy but allowed me to savor each dish joyfully. The smiles of everyone at the accommodation made my time there truly enriching and heartwarming. Thank you very much!

    Hideaway

    It was very quiet and comfortable. The carpet was plush. The garden view was lovely, allowing for a relaxing stay. The bath was spacious and luxurious. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious. I would love to stay here again!

    Everything is comfortable.

    A facility with a serene atmosphere and beautifully warm decor. Perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle of daily life and spending a relaxing time. From the reception service to the smallest amenities, everything was neither excessive nor lacking, but rather thoughtful and meticulous, leaving me feeling completely satisfied. It’s an accommodation I’d love to stay at during every season. It would be wonderful if there were a way to view the playlist of music playing in the lounge...

    The entrance feature...

    The entrance features a traditional Japanese-style gate that complements the sukiya-style architecture. Passing through a front garden lush with various plants, you open the sliding door and walk through an open, airy restaurant. Beyond the white curtains lies a small front desk, marking the start of the accommodation's guest-only area. Inserting your key grants access to a quiet, dimly lit hallway. Descending stairs overlooking a courtyard garden leads to my room. The room had large windows with bench sofas underneath, allowing natural light and warm indoor lighting (such as bedside hanging lanterns with decorative stones) to create a cozy atmosphere. Exiting the room and heading further inwards brought me to another staircase leading down to a secret base-like lobby (library). The design here was charming, and I loved browsing through neatly arranged bookshelves filled with fascinating titles! Guests were welcome to take books back to their rooms for reading, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Seeing beautifully bound books placed on sofas or beds was visually delightful in itself. The restaurant where I had dinner featured soft lighting from pendant lamps and table lights—creating just the right ambiance. Most of my fellow diners appeared to be international guests. While both wine and food were delicious, I found portion sizes too large for someone like me who enjoys sampling small bites of various dishes. A selection of appetizers for one or half-portion menu options would have been appreciated. That said, everything about my stay was satisfying—from the fresh smiles of young staff members providing attentive yet unobtrusive service—to every thoughtful detail throughout my visit. An early morning stroll around an uncrowded Togetsukyo Bridge area was also wonderful. I hope to escape here again during another season. P.S. Regarding my lost item: it has been found! My apologies for any trouble caused during its search—thank you so much for your assistance!

    It was an accommodat...

    It was an accommodation that epitomized hospitality. Without being overbearing, all our requests were perfectly met. For meals, dinner was a lively and casual experience shared with outside visitors, while breakfast was a serene and delicious Japanese set meal exclusively for guests. The stone bath offered a lovely view of the garden. Although it was early spring and the dry landscape garden felt slightly bare without flowers, stepping outside the accommodation revealed cherry blossoms in full bloom, making the location highly satisfying. I would love to visit again!

    A relaxing hidden retreat nestled at the foot of Arashiyama

    This Accommodation is exceptionally highly rated on IKYU at 4.86 out of 5, so we arrived with high expectations. It is a hidden, retreat-like Facility in a quieter area of Arashiyama, Kyoto. As we arrived after dark and the Hotel name was not displayed anywhere outside, it was hard to find the entrance. Still, that unexpected entrance added to the sense of excitement. Inside, it is a truly relaxing space. It seems to be operated by an architectural design office; the design is modern yet calm and soothing. We stayed in Room 203STUDIO. It was disappointing that the bathroom had no bathtub and only a shower, but we received a discount voucher for an Onsen directly across the street and went there instead. The staff’s kind and attentive service was excellent. A young female staff member with a wonderful smile took great care of us as well. I was impressed that such thorough training has been achieved for an independently run property. We only used breakfast at the on-site restaurant “Mama,” but the food was innovative and very delicious. Overall, with comfortable rooms, high-quality service, and great food, it was an Accommodation worthy of its top rating.

    First stay.

    I was introduced by an acquaintance and this is my first stay. Thank you for responding clearly and politely to various inquiries before my stay. This is my first time in Arashiyama. The Hotel is wonderful and you can relax in the lounge. The à la carte dinner was also delicious. I wanted to eat a lot and was spoiled for choice. Thank you to Mr. O, who was in charge of our table, for giving us various advice. The manager also taught us a lot and we learned a lot. The Japanese breakfast has a wonderful menu composition. I am truly grateful to Ms. N with the short bob, who was in charge of everything from the stay, the guidance within the facility, to breakfast, for her wonderful hospitality. It was a blissful moment of extraordinary experience, forgetting the hustle and bustle of the city. Thank you to everyone at Arashiyama Residence and Restaurant Mama. I will visit again. Additionally, it is a short walk from Hankyu Arashiyama Station, but there is an uphill slope. Inside the Hotel, there are only stairs. There are two convenience stores next to Hankyu Arashiyama Station. Only one is open 24 hours.

    It was a wonderful trip.

    We stayed for our wedding anniversary. We were very satisfied with the staff's kind and courteous service, the delicious food, and the wonderful room. We would like to stay again when we visit Kyoto. Thank you very much.

    I was able to enjoy it at a leisurely pace.

    I stayed for two nights. The Room was spacious, and the double bed was comfortable enough for two people to sleep in. For breakfast, I enjoyed Japanese cuisine on the first night and Western cuisine on the second night, both of which were very delicious. I also had dinner at the restaurant, which was also delicious.

    A cozy space

    Thank you very much for your hospitality. The wonderful service, the thoughtfully crafted relaxing space, and the location that allows you to fully enjoy Arashiyama, all of these made for a satisfying experience. I also appreciated the 12 o'clock checkout. During the peak autumn foliage season, I was able to leisurely explore the Arashiyama area during a morning walk. The Italian restaurant on-site and the Japanese breakfast were both very delicious. I would love to visit again when using Arashiyama. Thank you.

    It was a nice Stays.

    We were welcomed with warm hospitality and were attentively cared for during our stay. The Facility is clean, and opening the gate that connects to the Hotel area with a card key feels like entering a secret hideaway, which is exciting. The only minor concern was the lather of the body soap, but it was not a significant issue. It is only about a 3-minute walk from Togetsukyo Bridge, yet it is surprisingly quiet, as if the hustle and bustle of the autumn foliage season is just a lie. Highly recommended.

    We really want you to stay!!!!

    I used it for the first time to celebrate an important person's birthday. Both the hotel and the restaurant have a calm atmosphere. The staff responded with a smile and were very polite. The room was spacious, and the garden view from the room was incredibly beautiful. The bath was also large, allowing you to stretch your legs and relax. The amenities were plentiful, which is especially nice for those who want to reduce their luggage. In the lounge, you can enjoy tea and coffee, and there are many stylish books available. We used the restaurant on the night of our stay and the next morning. The pizza was chewy and delicious. The birthday plate probably used seasonal fruits, and they brought it quietly, which was appreciated by us who are not fond of flashy celebrations. The breakfast was warm, gentle, and delicious, with side dishes, rice, and sea bream soup. It was such a wonderful property that I ended up writing a long review. I would love to use it again!!!
