    This is a wonderful Accommodation!

I recently stayed at Ki no Ma. As my ancestors are from Omi, I visited this time and felt a joy as if I had met them by staying in a historic building connected to the legacy of the Omi merchants. The warm hospitality was wonderful, and above all, the meals were outstanding. The combination of fresh, carefully selected ingredients and the chef’s skill is truly moving. This is a highly recommended Accommodation, and I would definitely like to stay again.

    From the moment we a...

From the moment we arrived, the courteous service made our stay very pleasant. Dinner was truly satisfying and captured the essence of Japanese cuisine. The breakfast, enjoyed in a Japanese-style room reserved for breakfast while looking out at the greenery, came with many carefully prepared side dishes—I ended up having several refills from the morning. If I may mention a couple of points: I would have liked a small bedside lamp for reading before bed. Also, if the bathroom curtain were a bit wider, I think it would help prevent shower water from splashing into the changing area. As it was the season of fresh green leaves, I would love to visit again during autumn foliage if I have the chance. The rice ball we received on departure was also very delicious. Thank you very much.

Both dinner and breakfast were truly impressive and unforgettable.

Following our previous stay in the Stone Room, we stayed this time in the Wood Room. Dinner felt a little tense as we had the dining area to ourselves, but the head chef was very considerate and made it a comfortable, enjoyable experience. The seasonal ingredients and flavors were outstanding again. Breakfast was served upstairs in what felt like a hidden room, with a wonderful view from the best seat in the house. The staff member who assisted us was warm and attentive—truly lovely. Thank you very much. From the Room, we enjoyed views of the moat’s boat bridge and cherry blossoms. Do note that people strolling along the stone-paved path by the moat may be able to see in... The natural garden and roji pathway were also beautiful, both from the Room and from the bath. If I had to mention one drawback: the toilet is located inside the bathroom without being separated, which makes it inconvenient to use, and water from the shower can splash past the curtain into the powder room and leave it soaked. This may be difficult to improve due to structural constraints, however.

A quiet, hidden retreat for relaxation

It was my first time staying at an Accommodation with neither a TV nor a phone. Above all, I was impressed by the meals. The seasonal ingredients were not over-processed, and I could truly savor the carefully prepared flavors.

A Premium Accommodation to Enjoy a Scenic Canal Cruise on Hachiman-bori

We stayed here for the first time to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Every meal was delicious, and we were completely satisfied. In addition, we had a wonderful view of the stunning autumn leaves along Hachiman-bori from our Room, making it the best anniversary trip. Thank you so much to all the staff.

Return to tradition with a truly exceptional location and tastefully designed interiors.

Because it is located in a preserved historic district, you can experience an old building designed to blend seamlessly with the Hachiman-bori Canal. The food was outstanding—truly exceptional dishes made with great care for the rice and dashi. I recommend skipping lunch beforehand. Dinner included a generous amount of meat and we couldn’t finish it, so I would love to see a more affordable Plan with less meat. Both the view from the Room and the interior were excellent, but since we use air conditioning in winter, it would be great if humidifiers could be loaned out (sorry if this is already available). The bath was unique and wonderful, especially the wooden-tub-style bathtub. As mentioned in the 안내내 provided, the water cools quickly, so if possible, an automatic heat-retention function—or reheating while dinner is being served or when futons are laid out—would be greatly appreciated. All staff members were very courteous and made our stay comfortable. Thank you very much!

Rated 5 stars as a restaurant, but 2 stars as a Ryokan.

Points for Improvement: ① It was surprising that this Ryokan required a phone call 10 minutes before arrival. ② No outerwear provided even in the middle of winter. Two types of clothing are available as room wear and for strolling, but there is no outerwear, which was unexpected. Having visited many Ryokans and Onsen accommodations across the whole country, this is the first time I’ve encountered a place without outerwear when stepping outside for meals. Even Ryokans with in-room dining usually provide such items. ③ The location of spare bath towels is confusing. While one towel per person is placed in the dressing area, spares are located near the bedroom. This placement seems inconvenient as it requires extra effort to bring them to the bathroom. ④ The position of where hot water comes out in the bath is puzzling. The bath setup appears designed to enjoy views of a small garden outside while bathing; however, both my husband and I were surprised by hot water during use due to lack of explanation like "Caution: Hot Water." While changing its layout may not be possible now, adding clear instructions would help. ⑤ No noren (curtain) at the entrance makes it feel exposed after bathing. Installing noren promptly would improve privacy concerns. ⑥ Amenities placement feels inconvenient. Items intended for use during bathing need to be carried separately each time, which can be bothersome. ⑦ Check-out time being 10 AM feels unusual given its price range. For an accommodation fee averaging around 200,000 yen (our stay cost 170,000 yen), having a check-out time at 10 AM seems rare among similar-priced accommodations nationwide. 【Overall Impression】 - Felt rushed during our stay. - Room layout felt inefficient (despite being approximately 49 sqm., separating areas like bedrooms made it feel cramped; perhaps not designed by an experienced Ryokan architect?). - Placement of toilets and amenities lacked thoughtful flow or convenience. It gave an impression that management might lack experience with other high-end Onsen Ryokans within this price range nationwide. While meals were delicious overall and commendable quality-wise compared against similar-priced Onsen accommodations offering unique teas or drinks crafted from vegetables/plants etc., this aspect seemed less impressive here comparatively speaking—leading me personally toward feeling justified pricing should fall between ¥80k–¥110k ideally—or up-to ¥140k maximum depending upon improvements implemented moving forward!

    Amazingly Wonderful Accommodation

From the warm welcome upon arrival to the heartfelt farewell, this accommodation was truly exceptional. Nestled in a historic castle town, it offers a nostalgic atmosphere of bygone eras, and the meals were absolutely delicious. The efficiency and organization were impressively professional. If your budget allows, this accommodation is highly recommended! Every staff member was outstanding.

A Journey to Savor a Charming Atmosphere

I visited because I love buildings that reflect history and culture, and I wanted a quiet trip. The beautiful garden and the attention to detail in the interior were truly wonderful. Spending time in a space without noise, intentionally without a TV, felt like such a luxurious experience. I also reserved the sauna, which was an extraordinary experience that I think is rare to find. The rosemary scent was soothing, the well water felt purifying, and it gave me a sense of relaxation deep within my heart. The meals I had been looking forward to were delightful—dinner was entertaining as well as delicious, leaving me completely satisfied. Breakfast exceeded my expectations with its taste and became great energy for the day ahead. I plan to use this wonderful experience as motivation in my daily life. Thank you so much for everything!

    Stayed at the Treehouse Accommodation

I stayed here to celebrate my husband's birthday. Everything was comfortable, and we had the most wonderful time. Thank you so much. The meals, hospitality, and amenities were all perfectly suited to our tastes. There were sparklers in the room, which we enjoyed together after dinner. My husband was especially impressed by the delicious sansho pepper served with the meal. The accommodation is located near Hachiman-bori Canal, and we took a refreshing morning walk there—it was truly amazing. We even received rice balls after check-out! Everything was perfect—thank you very much!

Accommodation for a comfortable and relaxing stay

The service was impeccable, allowing for a truly comfortable stay. The Room was well-prepared and inviting, making it easy to forget the daily routine. Dinner was exceptional, with highlights including steamed tilefish custard, a duck dish, and tea-flavored rice—all memorable. The dishes showcased excellent use of ingredients and meticulous preparation. Additionally, the sake selection curated by the local sake sommelier perfectly complemented the meal. Even my wife, who rarely drinks sake, thoroughly enjoyed it.

    A Miraculously Inspiring Meal

I stayed at the accommodation for one night and was warmly welcomed by the staff, creating a heartwarming experience from the start. The atmosphere of the accommodation was exceptional and left me in awe throughout my stay. The highlight was undoubtedly dinner, which far exceeded my expectations. The dishes made full use of fresh ingredients, and it was a luxurious experience to watch the skilled chefs prepare meals right in front of us. Breakfast was equally impressive, with every dish prepared with care, making each bite special. The view from the breakfast venue on the second floor and the room's design were also outstanding! The hospitality provided by all staff members made this an unforgettable memory. I look forward to visiting again during a different season!

    I stayed during the ...

I stayed during the cherry blossom season. The service was standard for a Ryokan at this price range, and there were no unpleasant aspects. Although the blossoms were about 50% in bloom due to a later-than-usual blooming season, I could still enjoy beautiful views of Hachimanbori and cherry blossoms from the room. The garden was well-maintained, and I fell asleep listening to the soothing sound of flowing water. The food was exceptionally delicious. The tempura featuring spring ingredients like taranome (fatsia sprouts) and fukinoto (butterbur buds), bamboo shoots, clams, as well as local specialties such as Biwa trout, Omi duck, and Omi beef offered both seasonal flavors and regional character while being incredibly tasty. This Ryokan gave an impression of providing a calm and quiet space to relax and unwind from daily fatigue rather than focusing on extravagance. That said, it had a touch of elegance during the cherry blossom season which made it even more delightful. It’s also great that you can buy souvenirs at Club Harie located about a 5-minute walk away—definitely a plus point! I would love to stay here again if I have another opportunity.

Escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life

I chose this property to escape the hustle and bustle and clear my mind. Arriving at the property from Omihachiman Station, I enjoyed the view of the town with many old mansions, and stayed in the "Stone Room" this time. The first thing that caught my eye was the bath carved out of a large stone. I expected it to be not so big, but even a man can stretch his legs and relax comfortably. I took multiple baths in the morning, afternoon, and evening while gazing at the garden outside. The garden illuminated at night was also wonderful, not just during the day. I was very much looking forward to the dinner. I had the property and restaurant all to myself. I enjoyed a live experience with local Omi beef, duck, fish from Lake Biwa, and local sake, as fish were grilled and plated right in front of me. Although the kaiseki cuisine was slightly small in portion but delicious, I was satisfied with multiple helpings of rice at the end. The set of Omi beef that came with the rice was a delightful touch (usually, the properties I stay at only serve rice with pickles and miso soup), and it was very delicious. The chef was friendly and talked to me, so I didn't feel bored even though I was alone. The room had a fusion of old and new, giving an artistic feel. I thought it might be quite cold, but there were multiple air conditioners and heaters in the room, so it wasn't particularly cold. As for the hospitality and service, it was just the right balance of attentiveness and distance, with no issues. Communicating and calling via LINE is a modern touch. Overall, it was a healing experience. If I have the chance, I would definitely like to stay in the "Wood Room" in the annex.

    A very unique Stays

I also used the sauna, and both the room and the sauna are unique. The property utilizes an old folk house, and I thought the way it was remodeled is artistic. The food is very delicious, and the local Shiga sake pairs well. However, staying in winter is extremely cold. There is no glass on the door, so the air from the hallway comes in directly, and the windows rattle in the wind. In terms of heating, it requires quite a bit of preparation. The bathroom is also very cold. The sauna is quite cold and dark, making it dangerous for your feet. There is a large stone on the bottom step, so if you trip there, the design with stones scattered around can cause injury. But the design is truly unique and interesting for a stay.
