    The meals are excellent, but the Onsen is disappointing!

    Dinner featured an abundance of vegetables, along with beautifully presented edible flowers and leaves, which was rare and enjoyable. The chef’s heartfelt hospitality was truly impressive. Unfortunately, I felt the in-Room Onsen was not very relaxing and didn’t allow me to unwind comfortably. Also, the repeated offers to take photos during meals and at checkout might be better if made a bit more natural and casual with some thoughtful adjustment.

    This is a Ryokan offering meals.

    Choosing the Plan with breakfast and dinner was absolutely the right decision. Using the ingredients as they are, with a clever twist here and there, we found ourselves saying “oh!” again and again—it was a real delight. We highly recommend the meal Plan. The Room was clean, and the Onsen was very relaxing. It exceeded our expectations for the price. We’re already looking forward to the meals on our next stay. Our sincere thanks to all of your staff. Thank you, and until we meet again.

    Second Stay

    I stayed here with my family two months ago and it was so wonderful that I returned this time with friends. The food is beautiful to look at and very delicious. Since there is a bath in the Room, you can soak as many times as you like whenever you feel like it. I think this Accommodation offers great value for money. One disappointing point was that dinner was limited to 90 minutes (it was different before; I’m not sure if it was only on this day). This time, the dishes were served quite quickly, and we couldn’t even enjoy a full bottle of wine at a relaxed pace. Partway through, we asked if they could slow down a bit, but nothing changed. At breakfast as well, after about 60 minutes we were told our time was up. It’s very disappointing for an Accommodation where the food is meant to be enjoyed. I would like to visit again, so I strongly hope this will be improved.

    A returning guest several times

    It was a bit hard to find the first time, but once you get used to it, the location is very convenient. Because I have dietary restrictions, I couldn’t try the highly rated dinner, so I had soba at my usual relaxing place instead. I did have breakfast—simple, well-balanced, and satisfying. I enjoyed the hot spring before and after breakfast in the morning, and twice again at night. The Room is simple, with a bed that lets you sleep well and double windows. It’s quiet thanks to good soundproofing; when you open them, the pleasant sounds feel great. I stay here on my way back from the gym in Kitakyushu. After check-out, I take a walk around Yufuin and Lake Kinrin. On the way home I buy Komatsu’s ohagi, then have lunch near the interchange at a hilltop shop with vegetables and soup. In winter it’s an oyster hut afterward, or fugu in town—then head home, stop by the gym for another quick sweat session, and go back home. It’s great that no one complains even if I’m still in gym clothes. Thank you as always for your warm welcome. I also really appreciate having two sets of towels prepared for me.

    Perched on a small hill with beautiful views, everything was outstanding—the Room, the Onsen, the cuisine, and the hospitality.

    The food was very delicious, and the hot spring water felt wonderfully smooth on the skin. The staff were very kind and spoke to us warmly. However, the yukata was too small and came up short, which was a bit disappointing given that a warm haori jacket had been prepared. Also, we were asked to adhere quite strictly to the check-in and check-out times, which felt a bit stressful.

    The meals and the bath were both amazing!

    Although we only booked breakfast, it was very delicious. The Room also had a luxurious semi-open-air stone bath, with the water temperature just right, so we enjoyed soaking in it many times. This is an Accommodation we would love to stay at again.

    It was delicious.

    Thank you for accommodating us on New Year's Eve. We were looking forward to staying at this hotel known for its highly-rated meals. The unique and delicious dishes you provided were much appreciated. It seems to be a reasonably priced accommodation, and the building as well as the room had a rather simple design, which was slightly disappointing. I was surprised to find a fan stored in the corner of the closet, and it was inconvenient that there was no handwashing area in the toilet, requiring us to go to the washroom each time. Additionally, meal times were unilaterally assigned without any options for adjustment. The staff wore chef coats from check-in guidance through check-out farewells, which seemed unusual; however, everyone had wonderful smiles that left a positive impression. We were delighted when soba noodles were delivered to our room after dinner for celebrating New Year's Eve. There were both good aspects and some less favorable ones during our stay—it made for an interesting New Year’s Eve experience overall!

    The Best Yufuin Stay Awaits

    Warm welcome and detailed explanation. The indoor hot spring's quality and temperature are perfect, and dining in a private room with managed privacy offers a stunning view of morning mist through the window. As recommended by Michelin, even though it was just breakfast, the food was delicious. Excellent cost performance with heartfelt hospitality that sets it apart from merely expensive accommodations.

    Completely satisfied with everything.

    The staff's hospitality is outstanding, warmly welcoming us with smiles at the parking lot. The room and bathroom were spotless, and we enjoyed the pure onsen to our heart's content. The fusion of Japanese and Western cuisine was a feast for both the eyes and palate. During breakfast, the morning mist created a magical atmosphere. It was truly a luxurious experience. This is an accommodation you'll want to visit again without fail!

    I stayed here for my first trip to Yufuin. What impressed me the most was the excellent service provided by the staff and the creative, delicious meals. The variety of dishes was abundant, and each dish was carefully prepared, bringing joy to both my eyes and taste buds. The room was spacious, and having an Onsen with natural hot spring water directly in the room allowed me to relax anytime as much as I wanted. I realized for the first time how restful it is not needing to leave the room at all. In the morning, I could see a mystical view of morning mist and the moon from my window, which became a wonderful memory of my trip to Kyushu.

    A Wonderful Trip

    I stayed here with my daughter for a family trip. Thank you for your thoughtful care as my daughter is pregnant. The meals were absolutely delicious, and the staff provided exceptional hospitality. I would love to stay here again.

    The staff were very cheerful and kind. The room was spacious, had a great atmosphere, and was wonderful. Having a water server in the room to easily enjoy water or tea anytime was also delightful. But above all, the highlight was the deliciousness and beauty of the meals! Everything was impressive.     The price was not very cheap, so I had high expectations. First, the Room smelled musty. The glass in the Room was wet. There were few amenities and they were insufficient. The bathtub drain was clogged, causing backflow when using shampoo or taking a bath—this was the worst part. For meals, you have to wait in your Room until you receive a call. You cannot choose the time for meals. Meals were a French course with small portions. Hmm... too expensive. If you're charging this amount, please provide proper amenities without cutting corners... Very disappointing.

    Yufuin often has the image of requiring a significant budget to stay, but this accommodation offered incredible value for the price. The meals were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious! Both dinner and breakfast were exceptional. However, the pace at which dinner was served felt a bit too fast. It would be great if they could either reduce the number of dishes (though that would be unfortunate) or serve dessert in the room, allowing guests to enjoy their exquisite cuisine at a more relaxed pace. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Interestingly, they seem to have connections with sumo wrestlers, as we got to see autographs and hear some fun stories from them. Highly recommended for trips with female friends! But honestly... I almost don't want to share this hidden gem!

    We stayed at the accommodation to celebrate my mother's 88th birthday. There were various surprises, and we had a wonderful time. For those who love sumo, this is a must-visit place. The wine souvenir was also very delightful. Since there is no large public bath, it truly offers a private-only experience. Thank you for taking care of us.

    I was upgraded to a maisonette-type room and had a very comfortable stay. The staff were polite and kind. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious with generous portions, which was satisfying. The baths included an indoor onsen with natural hot spring water and an open-air bath, both spacious and very relaxing. However, the temperature of the open-air bath dropped from night until the next morning, making it a bit cold. Overall, it was an accommodation that provided great service and value for money.

    A must-visit accommodation to return to!

    From the moment we arrived at the accommodation to check-out, it was a wonderful and comfortable experience throughout. The meals were beautifully presented and delicious, the room was clean with tasteful interior design, and we could enjoy two types of baths in the room anytime without worrying about time. We thoroughly enjoyed the onsen. The staff were incredibly attentive yet friendly, which we greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

    This accommodation is located on a hill overlooking the town of Yufuin, though Mount Yufu cannot be seen. While it was a bit disappointing that there were no welcome sweets or drinks, which are often expected at accommodations of this class, the room was spacious and comfortable for relaxation. The water server and amenities provided were sufficient; however, the lack of coffee in the room might be a downside for coffee lovers. The TV system was modern, allowing internet browsing and access to YouTube. The onsen experience was excellent despite there being no large public bath. The private open-air bath attached to the room featured natural hot spring water with a smooth texture. The tub was spacious, and the water temperature was perfectly controlled, making it very enjoyable to bathe multiple times. As for meals, dinner started with amuse-bouches and focused mainly on Western cuisine but included some Japanese elements midway through. Every dish up to dessert was delicious and highly satisfying. Breakfast consisted of traditional Japanese dishes made with high-quality ingredients and well-balanced flavors. Each room is designed as an independent unit for privacy, so apart from the dining area, there are virtually no public spaces such as shops or libraries available within the accommodation. While this setup may appeal to some guests seeking seclusion, personally I would have preferred more public facilities. The staff members were all exceptionally polite and attentive in their service under the leadership of their hostess. This visit marked my third stay in Yufuin accommodations overall; however, I can confidently say that this place offered the best hospitality, meals, and onsen experience so far. I would love to return if given another opportunity!

    An Accommodation You'll Want to Visit Again

    Dinner was a delicious fusion of Japanese and Western cuisine, all carefully prepared. Breakfast was also delightful. At night, the constellations were beautifully visible from the south-facing terrace, creating a moving experience. The Room had a water server, and I could relax in the bath for a soothing time. All the staff were very pleasant and welcoming. If I may suggest, it would be great to have something to stir the hot bathwater and scrubbing towels available. I look forward to visiting again!

    The indoor and outdoor hot springs are excellent.

    I visited in August and returned to celebrate my birthday. I stayed at "Sakae," a two-story private house. The room features two natural flowing Onsen baths, one indoor and one outdoor. The dinner was an extraordinary and surprising creation of dishes. Breakfast was also delicious Japanese cuisine. I enjoyed excellent wine as well and would love to visit again.
