This was my first time staying here. It was also my first sightseeing trip to Beppu, and I’m glad I chose this Hotel. We decided to have dinner on short notice that day, and the staff handled everything politely and smoothly. It was an à la carte dinner, and every dish was delicious. Breakfast in the morning was also wonderful—you can choose a main dish, and there is a buffet with bread, salads, and more. Everything tasted great, making for a lovely breakfast time. The staff were very kind as well. The Room was clean, spacious, and comfortable—I wished I could have stayed longer. The open-air bath in the Room was also excellent. The amenities were well stocked, and since I enjoyed the Onsen many times, it was convenient to have extra towels available. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t good so we couldn’t see the view, but I imagine it would be beautiful on a clear day. It’s a place I’d like to recommend to friends. I would definitely like to stay again if I have the chance.

    The staff were outstanding!

Thank you for taking care of us on June 12. Our whole family has been talking ever since about the wonderful hospitality from the staff, and the unforgettable scenery and experiences—we’re truly glad we chose to stay at Galleria. We also heard that a new Facility will be opening, and if our schedule allows, we would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

Not a relaxing Hotel for older guests

Since it was Golden Week, I understand that Accommodation rates are higher, but this Hotel was not worth the price. The lock on the door from the Room’s bath to the terrace was rusted and would not latch, and although the staff were aware of it, it was not repaired. It was my first time staying without being able to lock a door. The salmon at dinner was overly salty, and the canapés topped with appetizers felt damp. At checkout, there was no one to help with luggage or see us off. It felt like being abroad. What should have been a special trip ended up as a disappointing memory.

    Proposal

We stayed here for a trip to Beppu and to propose. Thank you for preparing the roses—thanks to you, the proposal was a success! The Onsen and meals were wonderful as well, and we felt truly refreshed. If I had to mention one thing, it felt like there weren’t many power outlets in the room... lol

    It was disappointing.

The spa we used was described as offering an extraordinary setting, a special stay, and blissful time for yourself. However, there was no consultation at all—no questions about areas you don’t want touched, which is normally asked. What surprised me even more was that I had to change clothes right where I was first shown and seated, with only a roll-down curtain for privacy. There wasn’t even a hanger to hang my underwear. To begin with, the space had the same layout as the Room we stayed in—how are guests supposed to feel it’s “extraordinary”? The moment I saw the partition and simple bed, it told me everything. I received a body treatment, but they didn’t ask about the room temperature either, so I felt cold and had to speak up myself. Treatments are meant to help you relax, but I couldn’t relax at all. After it ended, they handed me a towel; when I asked what to do about my back, they said it was an oil that didn’t need wiping off—but there was no explanation beforehand, which left me stunned. My friend who went with me had a facial and finished earlier; because the space was so small, she had no choice but to come over to the sofa where I was changing clothes—it was very uncomfortable. Also, even when using the bath in our Room there wasn’t enough space to undress—I honestly thought “What?” The Onsen water was too hot; of course we cooled it down with water from the tap. But because there is such a large glass window facing outside it felt cold around us, and we couldn’t warm up properly at all. As for dining—maybe our table location wasn’t good—but the noise of dishes being placed down after finishing was loud. It looks like a stylish space overall, but design seems prioritized while guest comfort comes second. Because the staff at where we stayed the previous night were excellent by comparison here staff couldn’t answer questions; there was also only one type of welcome drink available. I truly felt hospitality here is low. That said, depending on your age group you may be impressed—which may be why ratings are high. I realized Reviews and ratings need to be viewed by age group. There were unique features like art viewing that we were looking forward to—and some staff members also had wonderful smiles—so this experience was disappointing. In particular because I made this Reservation after seeing this site (and invited others), I felt sorry toward my companion. They said they came looking forward to enjoying the Onsen…

The lowest-priced accommodation introduced by IKYU so far.

I had made a reservation for 3 people, but upon arrival at the accommodation, only preparations for 2 were made. Additionally, I had sent an email in advance but received no reply. The meals were also quite simple considering the price. I have used accommodations introduced by IKYU before, but this was the worst experience. While I have trusted and used accommodations introduced by IKYU with confidence until now, introducing such an accommodation makes me question that trust.

A good Hotel for good people.

We splurged for the New Year and stayed in a nice room for two nights. The room was very clean, and being located on a mountain, the view was excellent. 【Food】 The steak was very delicious, but the pasta from the first day's course tasted quite ordinary and wasn't particularly memorable. For this reason, we opted to remove pasta from the second day's course and ordered à la carte instead. 【Service】 Regarding dinner time, we were informed at check-in on the first day and communicated our preferred time by phone on the second day. However, we received a call saying that "the time has passed" at a different time than what we had specified. Additionally, they mentioned that "it also happened on the first day." Since our designated times were written down as well, it felt like they implied it was our fault, which left us slightly uncomfortable. 【Bath】 I had read reviews mentioning that the bathtub is small; however, I personally didn't find it too small. The view from there was great and satisfying overall. However, there were noticeable stains resembling water deposits on the showerhead—though I'm not overly particular about cleanliness—it bothered me enough to clean it myself. As an art-focused hotel, I think it's perfect for art enthusiasts. Since all movement requires stepping outside briefly, having a jacket is convenient. Being located atop a mountain with no nearby buildings or convenience stores around means it's best to stop by one before heading to the hotel. While its ratings are very high overall—I honestly found myself wondering why they're so high. That said if you consider everything as part of "art," some aspects might make more sense!

    First time in Oita

I used the Hotel for a birthday celebration. The daily art tour was enjoyable as they provided detailed explanations about the paintings and artworks within the Hotel. For breakfast, you could choose your main dish, and the side dishes were served buffet-style, which was very delicious! However, I was surprised to find a cricket in the bathroom when I tried to take a bath in the morning. I recommend closing any doors leading outside before going to bed at night. The birthday surprise was also a success! It became such a wonderful memory!! Thank you so much!

    Not an art-themed Hotel.

There are two main points of disappointment. ① Cleanliness of the private bath The cleaning of the bathtub was insufficient, with debris accumulating at the bottom. When bathing, this debris floated up, which was very unpleasant. At first, I thought it might be unavoidable because it’s a natural Onsen, but upon checking the water source area, it was clean. This suggests that after draining the water from the stone bath and refilling it post-cleaning, proper maintenance had not been conducted. Even when I checked again in brighter conditions during my morning bath, nothing had changed. While it's a flowing Onsen system (kakenagashi), leaving debris to constantly float around is unacceptable and unhygienic. Honestly speaking, public baths near Beppu Station are cleaner. ② Service within the facility At check-in, we were informed about a "puzzle-solving event" around the facility. However, as we arrived late that day, we decided to try it out while exploring the facility on the following day. Unfortunately, I lost my puzzle sheet and requested a new one but was met with an unenthusiastic response: "Since it's not prize exchange time yet... you won't receive any gifts." This attitude made me feel sad as I wasn’t interested in prizes but simply wanted to enjoy solving puzzles for fun. If this caused inconvenience to staff members or others involved in operations here—clearer guidance like “Please refrain from exploring or participating post-check-in” would’ve helped avoid misunderstandings altogether! Notably beforehand—I’d already confirmed details directly w/staff too! Additionally—while thoroughly observing interiors during said exploration—it became apparent finer aspects lacked attention regarding cleanliness upkeep overall; cobwebs adorned hallway signage detracting significantly against claims promoting artistic-themed Hotel branding/image expectations initially marketed towards guests arriving excitedly anticipating unique experiences tied closely alongside creative aesthetics promised upfront beforehand instead disappointingly underwhelming reality encountered firsthand ultimately falling short delivering intended purpose behind concept The Onsen and the view are magnificent.

The hotel was designed like an apartment building. I got a bit lost trying to find my way from the parking lot to the front desk, but the modern, museum-like architecture created a calm atmosphere. The room also had a modern design. The bathtub was made of granite, which kept the water warm and allowed me to enjoy it comfortably by cooling it with cold water as needed. However, I was disappointed by the dust clinging to the air conditioner. It made me worry about dust flying around when it was on, which was unfortunate and led me to deduct one star from my rating. Since you can enjoy both the bath and view in your room, it would be nice if they provided drip coffee or tea for guests to enjoy in their rooms. I only had breakfast during my stay, but there was a warm pot-au-feu as the main dish that I enjoyed very much. During this hot season when I often consumed cold foods and drinks, warming up in the Onsen and having a warm breakfast made for a pleasant experience overall.

    Is it for inbound travelers?

The service during meals was provided by foreign staff, which was not a pleasant experience for me. I chose this accommodation because I appreciate Japanese hospitality, so I would have preferred not to be served by foreign staff. The Western-style meals also gave an impression of being tailored for inbound guests. It would have been nice to have options like rice and miso soup at breakfast for a different experience. The room was excellent. Thank you very much.

The design, art, Onsen, and location were all wonderful. The food was delicious, and meals were available from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM, allowing us to dine at our preferred time, which was very satisfying. It was a Hotel that made me want to stay again! Also, the pajamas provided in the Room were so comfortable that I felt extremely relaxed.

We had a wonderful time. Thank you very much.

This was my first visit to Beppu, and I stayed at this accommodation. I had a very satisfying and enjoyable time, thank you. Regarding the room, it would have been better if the washroom was separate from the living space, and having a dressing area with lighting in the shower booth would have been helpful. A heated toilet seat in the room would also have made it more comfortable to use. The restaurant's toilet seat was warm, so I assumed it might be the same in the room but couldn't find how to operate it—apologies if this was my mistake. Although my schedule didn't allow for much sightseeing, thanks to your excellent hospitality, service, and onsen facilities, I had a wonderful trip. Having an open-air onsen bath attached to the room allows for complete relaxation and is one of the reasons that makes traveling so enjoyable. The meals were delicious as well; all staff members serving us provided just enough explanations and interactions to make our stay memorable. Thank you very much for such a great experience! I hope to create another opportunity to stay here again in the future.

    Enjoyable for families

We visited with my daughter's family, a total of six people. The staff were very polite and left a great impression. The room had a great view, and the beds were comfortable. As it is an art hotel, there were creative works displayed throughout, which we enjoyed. Adding both dinner and breakfast to our stay was absolutely the right choice. Dinner was plentiful, visually appealing, and of course, incredibly delicious—everyone was very satisfied. For breakfast, we could each choose our preferred plate from the menu, and every option was delicious as well. The Onsen was slightly disappointing; while there was a semi-open-air bath in the room, it felt a bit small. I wish there had been a large public bath available too.

Satisfy Your Appetite with a T-Bone Steak!

We upgraded the meat dish to a T-bone steak for dinner. The portion was so large that even two of us couldn't finish it, but we enjoyed it until the last bite. The private art tour inside the accommodation was guided with great care, making our stay extremely satisfying. We also repeatedly enjoyed the semi-open-air bath in our room, relaxing and unwinding completely. We would love to stay at this accommodation again!

    Reliable and reassuring service

It was a last-minute accommodation on the day. The staff kindly called to confirm, and when I contacted the front desk about the bath, they provided calm and clear explanations. Since I checked in after dinner, I chose a breakfast-only plan, but I was satisfied with being able to select the main dish and its content. The gold benefits were appreciated, and the thoughtful gesture of providing a pen made me happy. Thank you very much!

    I had a relaxing stay.

The hotel, designed for art enthusiasts, offers a very calm and quiet atmosphere. The room design is unique, providing a sense of privacy with minimal interaction with other guests. Although there is no large public bath, the private Onsen in the room with natural hot spring water is more than enjoyable. The lower rating for the bath might be due to the water being too hot to enter without adding a significant amount of cold water and the dim lighting, possibly intended for privacy due to open windows. For meals, there were several options to choose from, but we added extra dishes from the à la carte menu as we wanted to try various items. We ordered T-bone steak, Wagyu filet steak, and lobster gratin separately. The T-bone steak came with several sauce options and was delicious; however, it would have been even better if served hotter. When I casually mentioned it was a birthday trip, they surprised us by serving dessert with birthday decorations—such a delightful touch! Breakfast also offered main dishes to choose from while salads, fruits, drinks, and bread were served buffet-style. With satisfying main courses available alongside the buffet items in moderation—it left us perfectly full without overindulging. This is definitely a hotel I’d like to visit again! One minor concern was the smell—possibly an inherent scent of Onsen—but while not unpleasant per se; having some pleasant fragrance would have made it perfect!

    It was wonderful.

I was really looking forward to this Hotel. The food was very delicious, and the view from the Room was great. The Onsen was the best part. One disappointing thing was that the cleaning wasn't thorough in some details... However, I would like to stay here again.

Overall, it was a very good Property.

The staff, including the Indonesian and male staff, were very accommodating. I definitely want to stay again. It would have been perfect if the bathtub was a little larger. Thank you very much.

    In the Art

A feeling like staying within art. An experience you can't enjoy at a regular hotel. The service wasn't bad, but there were moments when the staff's tension was noticeable. During breakfast, it was noisy as the timing coincided with group guests.

    Good view

We received a video guide in advance, and although the road was narrow, we were able to arrive without getting lost. The weather was nice on the first day, and the view all the way to Shikoku was wonderful. The explanation of the dishes was thorough, the portion sizes were just right, and the taste suited our preferences, making it very delicious. My partner, who rarely does so, repeatedly said how delicious it was and mentioned wanting to come back here again. We could also enjoy the view from the Room's bath, and it was quiet, so we were able to sleep soundly. It was an enjoyable trip, and we definitely want to use it again. Thank you very much.

    Location is challenging.

First of all, reaching this Hotel relying on navigation is quite a challenge. At the very last junction, there are no signs, leaving you wondering which way to go. The road is so narrow that if an oncoming car appears, it's nerve-wracking until you arrive. In the Hotel lobby, you're asked to view the hotel guide on an iPad by yourself. Meanwhile, your luggage is taken care of and brought up for you. You are guided to the elevator but from there you have to find your way through a maze-like structure to reach your Room. The much-anticipated semi-open-air hot spring bath? It's too hot and requires adjusting by turning the faucet yourself. Once you've adjusted it, don't relax too much because more hot spring water keeps trickling in; you'll need to get in quickly after adjusting it again. There's no dressing area or place to hide before entering the shower room; changing clothes happens openly in view from both the living room and bedside—it's a bit embarrassing even for couples. Dinner was a Western-style course meal with just enough quantity but with a rather voluminous dessert at the end. Breakfast was a modest Western buffet that suited us well enough. Right in front of the deck accessible directly from our bath was what seemed like a passageway for Hotel staff? Hmm... given our high expectations and considering its expensive rates, it felt somewhat disappointing overall.
