The best accommodation
We stayed at Nadeshiko no Ma. The staff were welcoming and attentive, the Room was spacious and spotless, the in-room bath with free-flowing natural hot spring water was excellent, and the meals were truly delicious. This is an Accommodation we will definitely return to.

We were soothed by the finest Onsen and the lush greenery of the mountains.
My husband and I stayed one night in the Nadeshiko Room. The Accommodation is quite far from the familiar sights of residential areas and shops, but it’s in a wonderful location surrounded by the greenery of Takayama Village. After seeing Raiden Falls, we were truly moved by the nature there. The Accommodation isn’t large and has a historic feel, but the interior has been nicely renovated. After check-in, simply relaxing in the lobby with a bowl of matcha while looking out at the trees right in front of us was incredibly soothing. The Nadeshiko Room we stayed in was especially spacious and barrier-free, so we could unwind comfortably. This time it was just the two of us and we’re still doing fine physically, but with this layout, we felt we could come back even when we’re older—and also imagined how nice it would be to visit with our son and his wife. Above all, the Onsen was absolutely amazing! We’ve stayed at many Onsen Accommodations, but here we could soak in a free-flowing hot spring bath with yunohana floating on the surface while enjoying seasonal views through the window. With its size and cleanliness, this Onsen is hands down our best experience ever. We were informed in advance, but the water temperature is quite hot, so if you prefer a milder bath you may need to adjust it. The meals were simple yet delicious dishes that made great use of ingredients unique to a mountain Ryokan—everything felt wholesome and nourishing. The river fish had no odor and tasted great; however, since there are only a few Rooms, I would have loved it served more freshly grilled. It was slightly firm, so my husband wondered if it might have been smoked. Overall, it was an ideal Accommodation for escaping everyday noise and spending time at ease. Choosing this place from all the options we researched before our trip was absolutely the right decision. Thank you very much.

My first visit to Yamada Onsen was truly unforgettable.
The warm yet understated hospitality was just right for my tired body and mind, and the Onsen exceeded my expectations—it truly surprised and moved me. Even the slightly hotter water, which I’m not usually good with, became addictive once I got used to it. Luckily, all four times I bathed it felt like having the place to myself, so I was able to enjoy it to the fullest. The meals were also excellent, packed with mountain delicacies. I was satisfied with everything and could relax and reset both body and mind. I’m looking forward to visiting again in autumn. Thank you very much. nob

Great value for money
The stay was very comfortable. The large public bath is available 24 hours, allowing you to take a relaxing soak even if you wake up in the middle of the night. The meals were delicious, and the service was excellent. I would love to stay here again.

Second stay
This is my second stay, and once again, I was delighted by the delicious meals and the wonderful onsen. The Shine Muscat grapes I purchased at the shop last time were so delicious that they were one of the reasons for my return. This time, they kindly reserved some for me. The soothing onsen with natural hot spring water flowing directly from the source makes me want to visit again.

Onsen
The Onsen, the private open-air bath in the room, the spacious bath for relaxation, and the forest view from the bath were absolutely wonderful. However, only one small towel per person was provided, which felt a bit stingy considering the price of the Ryokan. As for the meals, while there were many dishes served, they seemed somewhat simple given the cost.

Modern Accommodation in the Mountains
We chose this accommodation for its proximity to Garyu Park's cherry blossoms and fell in love with the large, barrier-free room bath, leading to our reservation. We were unaware of its over 210-year history and apologize for our ignorance. The young host was friendly and attentive, even taking a detour to show us the famous weeping cherry blossoms in Takayama Village, which was greatly appreciated as we traveled by train. Upon entering the facility, we were greeted by a pleasant incense aroma and modern interiors reminiscent of accommodations in Hakone. With elevators available, it is senior-friendly. The warm welcome from what seemed like the entire family gave us a nostalgic feeling of traditional ryokan hospitality. Enjoying matcha tea while overlooking Matsukawa Gorge was simply perfect! It was also nice that staff did not enter our room until checkout. The meals offered a wide variety of dishes that we thoroughly enjoyed. The grilled river fish—a specialty of riverside accommodations—was delightful. However, I think adding Yawataya's shichimi pepper would have enhanced the flavor of the beef hot pot dish even more. The private room bath was as spacious as shown in photos and very enjoyable. While private baths are great too, having such a large room bath allowed us to relax multiple times at our convenience. The slightly hot natural spring water with floating mineral deposits left my skin smooth and soft. The hostess mentioned that this place is especially beautiful during fresh greenery season; next time, I’d love to soak in the bath with windows fully open while enjoying lush green views. With shuttle service available from both Suzaka and Obuse stations, it’s very convenient for train travelers like us. This has become another accommodation I’d love to revisit!

Relax in the Onsen while watching the snow
Yamada Onsen, which I visited after a long time, offers a soft spring quality that is slightly hot but warms you up well in the snow-covered Matsukawa Valley. The diverse dishes prepared by the head chef made both my body and mind feel pleasantly warm while watching the snow. Although there are few rooms, the lobby and entrance are very spacious and relaxing. The view overlooking Katsukawa Valley is breathtaking with its snowy scenery, fresh greenery around June, and autumn foliage being exceptional. I look forward to visiting again in another season.

Subjective.
As a property over 50,000 yen, I honestly cannot say I am satisfied. If it were up to 40,000 yen, I might agree with five stars. 1. No welcome. 2. The meals were not impressive. I personally don't need seafood like sea bream or crab. 3. Employees entered the onsen in a noisy manner. Thank you for your hospitality. P.S. I was impressed that the lady who seemed to be the head hostess always greeted us.
