We were completely satisfied with our second stay as well.
I stayed at “Kakukura” last November and was extremely satisfied, so I came back in March when the weather had started to warm up a bit. This time I stayed in the “Former Post Office Building.” It’s about 2.5 hours from Kobe by local roads, and after arriving around noon we immediately went next door to “Mochimugi no Yakata” for their barley-and-grated-yam set meal (highly recommended). After lunch, we visited Tsujikawayama Park to see the slightly mysterious upside-down tengu, stopped by the folklore museum, and then returned to the Accommodation. After checking in at 3:00 p.m., we relaxed in our Room until dinner at 6:00 p.m. The Room is on the second floor, but my mother has limited mobility and had no trouble at all thanks to the elevator. While reading quietly, it was lovely to hear children walking home from elementary school along the road outside. Dinner was delicious—each dish thoughtfully prepared—and very filling. My mother also really enjoyed chatting with the staff. This is an Accommodation I’d love to visit again and again.

NIPPONIA
I had stayed at other NIPPONIA accommodations before, so I thought it would be a safe choice and made the reservation. At check-in, after filling out some documents at the restaurant building, I was guided to my room. The room felt much more spacious than its 32 square meters. Originally a post office from the Taisho era, it was transformed into a beautiful space that didn’t resemble its past use at all. The first floor is a café that is exclusively for accommodation guests on weekdays but open to the public on weekends. The café also had various books, including ones about yokai (Japanese folklore creatures), which were available for purchase. Dinner was French cuisine served in the restaurant building, featuring local ingredients and drinks. Breakfast was also served in the restaurant building with an abundant variety of dishes such as simmered vegetables, salad, steamed dishes in bamboo steamers, grilled fish, and rolled omelets—all very delicious! It’s rare to find accommodations offering such an array of vegetables; I found this aspect particularly impressive. However, I felt disappointed that there wasn’t an inclusive plan available in this hotel’s reservation options since other NIPPONIA accommodations do offer such plans.

Trip with Mother for Three
I had a relaxing and wonderful time. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, handling everything with care—thank you so much. The meals were thoughtfully presented, even down to the choice of dishes, and overall, they were well-prepared. As a personal preference, since this is the Kansai region, I found the use of white miso in some dishes made them slightly sweeter than I expected, but everything else was delicious. One minor disappointment was that the refrigerator in the Room didn’t cool very well. Also, it would have been perfect if the bath had been an Onsen. I hope to visit again if I have another opportunity—thank you!

The most comfortable accommodation.
I visited with my mother in her 90s this time. The staff provided very kind and attentive service. Guests can also use the adjacent former post office, making it a perfect spot to relax and read books before dinner. Dinner featured homemade dishes that were delicious and plentiful, leaving us fully satisfied. Back in the room, we enjoyed a relaxing bath in a fragrant cypress tub. Surrounded by books, the cozy atmosphere of the room made us lose track of time. Breakfast was also delicious. Located just two and a half hours from Kobe by local roads, this is an accommodation you'll want to visit again and again!

Thank you as always. The staff's hospitality and the cuisine are exceptional. This time, I stayed in the "Yonekura" accommodation. It had an even larger collection of books than other rooms, which I thoroughly enjoyed! The duck breast was also delicious. I will visit again.

The meals were very delicious.
The meals were very delicious. I would visit frequently if it were closer. The accommodation was also intriguing. However, here are some concerns: - The pairing was not impressive. The portions were significantly smaller compared to what I usually have. If the servings are intentionally small, I think it should be clearly stated in advance. - It looked quite different from the photos provided. The room had air conditioning, but the entire building was extremely hot. There were two rooms; while there were no other guests this time, I feel it would be uncomfortable to share with strangers or possibly someone of the opposite gender since there is no staff present in the building, which feels unsettling. Although windows and doors were closed tightly, small insects managed to get inside. Several types of bugs could be seen on futons and in the bathroom area, making it hard to feel comfortable. Amenities were minimal, and the refrigerator felt very empty. On an extremely hot day like this one, there was no cold water available at check-in or in the room, which was disappointing. While staff members had a pleasant demeanor, they seemed understaffed overall; this appeared to result in limitations on shuttle service times and meal schedules among other things. There seemed to be many requests directed at guests as well. It wasn’t clear whether exploring within the premises was allowed or not—so I gave up on doing so. I don’t think I’ll return again.

Room for Enjoying Books
We stayed here to celebrate my husband's birthday. The variety of books from different genres was fascinating, offering new discoveries. We immersed ourselves in reading as much as time allowed. Unfortunately, the reading lamp stopped working midway, and since there was no cord provided, we couldn't use it anymore. As there were two of us, we had to move chairs under the light to continue reading. Dinner was a highlight—carefully prepared dishes that were delicious and paired perfectly with drinks for an enjoyable evening. We ended up falling asleep without even taking a bath! Waking up early in the morning, I opened the bathroom window to let in a refreshing breeze while enjoying a relaxing soak. However, water leaked through the gap under the door due to minimal height difference between the washing area and sink space—I hope this can be addressed promptly. Since they seem to rotate their book collection seasonally, I look forward to visiting again for new literary encounters and another rejuvenating stay!

I had the ultimate relaxation.
The hotel staff were very friendly and kind. They provided detailed information about the cuisine, tableware, and local sightseeing, which was very helpful. The food was delicate with a subtle taste, all dishes were delicious, and the presentation and tableware were excellent. The selection of books in the room was tasteful and introduced me to new genres I don't usually read. The room itself, originally a storehouse, had high ceilings, was very quiet, and allowed for complete relaxation. Overall, it was a very soothing facility. I would love to visit again. Highly recommended as a place where adults can relax at their own pace. Thank you very much!

The meals had a Japanese-French fusion style and were very delicious. The breakfast was light in both portion and taste, which was very satisfying. On the downside, the amenities were at a dormitory level, and while the sheets and towels were clean, there were some areas with slight dust accumulation that detracted from the overall experience.

This time, Fukusaki
Following my previous stay in Ozu, I stayed at NIPPONIA again! This time, the Room was surrounded by books and mixed with the scent of wood, giving off an indescribably nostalgic feeling. The staff at reception kindly explained everything! I indulged in dinner here as well—it was delicious, and I was satisfied with everything! While I can't help but compare it to Ozu, I'm still very satisfied.

A Day Full of Reading and Delicious Treats
Arriving earlier than expected, I explored the quiet and serene town of Fukusaki for about an hour with a map from the local police box. The red poppies blooming in the rice fields and the vibrant green trees were breathtaking. However, as it was hotter than anticipated, I headed to the hotel early. They welcomed me with cold roasted green tea and promptly arranged my check-in. The room I was shown to was surrounded by towering bookshelves reaching up to a high ceiling—just as I had imagined! As soon as I entered, there was a faint but delightful scent of wood (perhaps cypress?), which thrilled me. While there wasn’t enough time to read all the books, I borrowed a stepladder to browse even those on higher shelves and stacked my favorites on the table for an indulgent reading session—it was pure bliss. Dinner included drinks paired with each course, starting with a low-alcohol sake that left me deeply impressed (I even visited a sake brewery before heading home). The meal featured creative French cuisine made with plenty of local ingredients, all prepared by one talented chef. It was both visually stunning and delicious—a truly exquisite dining experience. The room itself was compact yet equipped with everything necessary. The cypress bath felt wonderful, making it perfect for retreating alone from everyday life in comfort. Inside the hotel were 400-year-old earthen walls, impressive wooden beams, traditional lanterns alongside modern touches like stylish leather stools in greige tones at the kitchen counter—all beautifully designed. The accommodation building that used to be a post office had an adorable peppermint-green exterior (though I only peeked from outside). Breakfast was exceptional too! The concierge provided excellent service throughout my stay. Though it lasted just one night, this unforgettable journey offered unparalleled comfort and charm at every turn.

A Road Trip with My Niece
I discovered this accommodation and immediately made a reservation as I wanted to stay here. It was my first time learning about Fukusaki Town. The guest room I stayed in was the largest and oldest storage-like facility called "Naizo." It had a lot of character, and the bookshelf in the room was impressive. The cypress bath in the room provided a warm, wooden feel, which was delightful. Most rooms don't have a reheating function for baths, so it was nice to have one here. Please note that there is a step at the entrance to the guest room, so be cautious. Since it's part of an old storage facility, even the doors feel heavy. Without a TV or clock in the room, I could completely forget about time and relax. Dinner featured creative Japanese-Western fusion cuisine, while breakfast offered traditional Japanese dishes—both were enjoyable and deliciously made with carefully selected ingredients. The staff at this accommodation were kind and friendly, making my stay even better. As an Important Cultural Property accommodation with an old-world charm, it felt truly special. I also recommend trying their barley tea and barley coffee available at their gift shop. If given another opportunity to visit again, I'd like to stay in another building—the former post office accommodation facility nearby. This is such a wonderful place; please consider staying here!

Everything was great, especially the meals.
The Expo has started, and we were worried about congestion due to the increase in inbound visitors, but we arrived surprisingly smoothly. The Shuttle Service was provided, and the Room was stylish and charming, allowing us to relax comfortably. The meals were served in beautiful dishes and were incredibly delicious—my friend even said it was the best they've had recently. Thanks to a campaign offer, the price was more than reasonable, and we are truly grateful for all your hospitality.

Accommodation where you can relax surrounded by books
Two friends and I explored the Yokai Benches in Fukusaki Town by rental bicycle, and checked into the accommodation with chilled bodies. Although the accommodation does not have an onsen, it features a large bathtub where you can stretch your legs, complete with a reheating function to warm up slowly. There is no TV at the accommodation, so time passed leisurely as we read books available in our room and at the book café. Meals were served in a neighboring building. Dinner was French cuisine made with local ingredients, but for two middle-aged women like us, the portions were slightly too large. Breakfast featured barley rice, which we enjoyed thoroughly by chewing its pleasantly chewy texture. The staff always greeted us with smiles and maintained a comfortable distance without being overly attentive—a well-balanced hotel experience. We would love to visit again someday. Requests from seniors.
We had the best time as our final accommodation for the Saigoku 33 Pilgrimage. The atmosphere of the accommodation and the innovative room design were very satisfying. Just a few things we noticed: - It would be nice to have hot water available in the bathroom in the morning. - There was a draft coming through a gap in the window on the bed's side (perhaps due to limitations of renovating an old building?). - A stool or seating for elderly guests at the entrance of the post office building when changing shoes would be convenient. We would love to stay again if we have another opportunity. Thank you!

Is this price correct?
Considering the recent rise in accommodation costs, I didn't have high expectations due to the reasonable price, but it turned out to be a very high-quality and comfortable accommodation. Although staff are not present at night and check-in is earlier than usual, thoughtful measures ensure no inconvenience, which makes this pricing understandable and very appealing. I stayed in a room called "Fukuya," which is part of the main building. The shared spaces and garden were cleverly integrated into the room, making it feel much more spacious than its actual size. If I may point out some minor details: the ceiling light in the Japanese-style room felt slightly flat in terms of ambiance; it would have been perfect if the veranda by the sink was a bit wider with outdoor furniture for enjoying a beer after bathing; and while the bath was impeccably clean, I thought it might gain more charm as it ages naturally over time. These thoughts only came to mind because everything else exuded such quality that they made me wish for even more perfection! The food was undeniably delicious! The service was impeccable as well. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at a leisurely pace. As someone who loves food, I thought an additional dish as an option would be nice—but that's probably because everything tasted so good that I simply wanted more! I highly recommend this accommodation to anyone visiting this area!

Luxurious Time
This was my first time staying here. The traditional Japanese house seemed perfect for a winter retreat, and there were plenty of books available. There were books on folklore, photo collections, and recipe books. I wondered if there might be some classic literature, but none were available. I noticed some foreign-language books as well, and I heard that many international guests visit here. The staff spoke English fluently, which impressed me as someone who doesn't speak it myself! Despite my special needs requiring extra assistance, the staff kindly helped without any hesitation or discomfort, which made me very happy. The guest room was warm and cozy with an automatic bath-filling system—perfect for relaxing while reading recipe books or picture books. Since the interior is based on a traditional Japanese house design, there are some steps inside that require attention to avoid tripping. However, spending time without clocks or computers allowed me to enjoy a luxurious and peaceful experience. The photo shows the breakfast served during my stay!

I was able to relax and fully enjoy my stay!
This was my first time staying at the property. From the reception to being shown to my room, I was impressed by how polite and thorough the staff's service and explanations were. The room was the smallest in the property, but it had all necessary amenities compactly arranged, allowing me to stay comfortably without any inconvenience. The bathtub was unexpectedly spacious, allowing for a relaxing soak. Additionally, there were plenty of books available, so I never found myself with too much free time. The meals were delicious for both dinner and breakfast! Dinner was served at just the right timing, and the wine pairing complemented it well. (For younger guests who want to eat a lot, you might feel a bit hungry.) Each dish at breakfast was tasty and made perfect accompaniments for rice. The rice is brought to your table in an iron pot; each dish was so delicious that I ended up finishing everything. While it may not be described as "lavish" or "overflowing with services," overall it was a very satisfying property experience. Thank you very much.

Highly recommended when you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
I made the reservation this time because I wanted to relax with a friend in a quiet place. I was a bit anxious since it was my first time staying at this property, but despite it being midwinter, the environment was warm. Since it is a whole building rental, we were able to spend our time in truly quiet surroundings. Regarding meals, ingredients from Fukusaki were used and the taste was very good. Above all, the bed was fluffy and I could sleep soundly. Next time, I would like to stay for an extended period such as 2 nights and 3 days.

Relax and unwind~
It was a cold day, but the heater in the room worked well, allowing for a warm and comfortable stay. The room wasn't particularly spacious, but with high ceilings, it didn't feel cramped at all. There were many books of various genres available, creating a relaxed atmosphere without a TV or clock. Nearby attractions include the adjacent Miki Family Residence and an old post office café; if you walk up a small alleyway, you'll find a park with yokai (Japanese folklore creatures) that both adults and children can enjoy. There's also the Yanagita Kunio Memorial Museum where you can explore folklore and history. Meals feature beautifully presented innovative French cuisine paired with wine or sake. The entrance to the room is styled like an engawa (traditional Japanese veranda) with wooden sliding doors that require you to remove your shoes before entering; there are beams at head-bumping height which might be inconvenient compared to modern living standards, but these elements allow guests to appreciate its 300-year history and enjoy reflecting on it during their stay at this property.

Thank you for your hospitality.
We stayed for our wedding anniversary. Thank you very much for your attentive service. The room was lovely, and the food was very delicious. Although it was a cold area, the room was kept warm, which made us happy. One downside was that there were no paper towels in the toilet, so I had to bring a handkerchief each time, which was quite troublesome for me when going to the toilet at night.

We had the privilege of using the post office exclusively. It has been charmingly renovated with a retro atmosphere, allowing us to relax at our leisure. We enjoyed our meals at the traditional Japanese house. Everything was delicious and visually delightful. The sake was also excellent, making for a perfect dining experience.

Second floor of the former Tsujikawa Post Office building
I stayed for a visit to Himeji Castle. It takes about 30 minutes from Himeji Station to Fukusaki Station by JR Bantan Line, and there was a shuttle service from Fukusaki Station to the property, which was convenient. On the day I stayed, there were few guests, and within visible range, two women, aside from the chef, were attending to us. Both seemed busy, but when I asked questions about Fukusaki or the Miki family during the shuttle ride or meal service, they explained properly, and I felt they were genuinely interested in working at NIPPONIA. The old Tsujikawa Post Office building is next to the Miki family residence, and you can walk to the Farms Kitchen Mikiya (the Miki family's old sake brewery) for dinner and breakfast in 1-2 minutes. The exterior is also lovely, and especially after sunset, seeing the old post office building from outside with the interior lights glowing made me happy, thinking "I'm staying here." There are only two rooms on the second floor, and although the Yokai BOOK CAFE on the first floor has limited hours, guests can freely enter at any time (even at night), which was enjoyable. The explanations about the Miki family residence and Fukusaki placed in the room were thorough, and I wished I had taken more time to explore Fukusaki. It seems that the post office building was revived as part of NIPPONIA because the head of the Miki family at the time served as the postmaster. The old post office building room 202 where I stayed was apparently the postmaster's office. The plumbing was new, and although the bath was like a unit bath in a private home, it was actually easier to use this way. After breakfast, I toured the Miki family residence (areas outside the accommodation facility) which opens at 9 a.m. on weekends and holidays. This was also impressive. This is the third NIPPONIA location I've visited, and I felt it was a place that was very well revived as NIPPONIA, combining accommodation facilities, public viewing areas, and a cafe. For my next trip to Himeji, I would like to stay in a different room.

Celebration of Mother's 77th Birthday
The irreplaceable precious moments with family, celebrated and rejoiced together, are uniquely found at Harima Fukusaki, Zosho no Yakata. The guest rooms, renovated from the Kyutsujikawa Post Office built in Taisho 12, where my grandmother lived, are filled with bright sunlight. While feeling the grand flow of time, I enjoyed a blissful time of leisurely reading. Dinner features seven exquisite dishes, showcasing the chef's skill in fully utilizing the power of natural ingredients, paired with recommended sake and wine for a perfect marriage. The lingering impression from each stay remains strong, and gratitude overflows for everything. Each dish is of the highest quality, delighting the senses with its delicate flavors. Breakfast continues the joy and new discoveries, deeply conveying the richness of local production for local consumption. I want to cherish forever the exceptionally beautiful space and the exploration of food. Thank you so much for taking care of us this time as well! My heart is warmly filled with a sense of fulfillment and tranquility. I look forward to your continued support in the future! I am excited for the next visit!!!

We visited on January 6, 2025, as a couple. The Room with a library, the dinner and breakfast using plenty of local ingredients, and the warm hospitality of all the staff made for a relaxing New Year's holiday. Thank you very much.

It was a wonderful time.
The building exudes a sense of history, and with the staff's detailed explanations, I felt as if I had time-traveled to experience life back then, making for a wonderful time. The meals, both breakfast and dinner, were delicious, and the explanations of the dishes were thorough and appreciated. Since it was my birthday, I was delighted to receive a dessert plate. The Room had many books, providing a lovely space for reading, though I ended up a bit sleep-deprived... I would love to stay in a different Room next time and enjoy the cuisine again.

I was soothed by the wonderful atmosphere, delicious food, and excellent service.
I stayed at "Komegura" with a friend who loves books. The room was surrounded by bookshelves reaching up to the ceiling, and the soft lighting created a very comfortable space. There were books from various genres, so I skimmed through books I wouldn't usually pick up, and ended up reading my favorites thoroughly until late at night. The meals were Japanese-French fusion and all were delicious. We requested drink pairings, and they selected perfect sake and wine to match the dishes, which made my friend, who was experiencing pairing for the first time, very happy. There was also a shuttle service from the station, and not only the space and meals but also the courteous and gentle service was healing. It is a hotel I would like to revisit in a different season. Thank you very much for taking care of us.
