    A Highly Satisfying Trip

I sincerely apologize for my late thank-you. This was our second stay. The front desk location had changed since last time, so I was a little confused at first. After we arrived, you upgraded us from Room KOURAI 202 to Room NOMATSU 403, which was an unexpected and wonderful offer, and we were truly delighted. As it’s the most popular among the staff, it was very spacious, with a beautiful view of the garden from both the bath and the Room—an exceptionally comfortable and calming place to spend time. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and since there was only one other group besides us, we were able to dine in a relaxed atmosphere as well. We also enjoyed visiting nearby Japanese sweets shops—it was great fun. We were deeply moved by how beautifully you filled in our travel memory book too. Done—we will definitely be back again. Thank you very much for taking such great care of us.

A Hotel you’ll want to stay at again

This was my first time staying at a traditional house-style Hotel, and it was very comfortable. The wooden flooring felt great underfoot, so I spent most of the time barefoot. The living room on the first floor is compact, but with a garden (no curtains), it didn’t feel cramped and had a gentle, relaxing atmosphere. However, when we first entered the room it was hot, and we couldn’t figure out where the air conditioner was. When we opened the closet door it felt cooler, so we left it open, but later we realized that what we thought was just a fan was actually the air conditioner (lol). I wish there had been an explanation. The toilet light fixture had a lovely design. The bedroom linens were beautifully made up and felt wonderful. I’ve stayed at many Hotels and Ryokan over the years, but the loungewear here felt amazing! There were two of us—one slim and one larger-built—and it fit both of us well. If it had been for sale, I definitely would have bought it. The body wash towel was also made from a gentle material you don’t often see elsewhere, so I took it home. Everything about this Hotel felt wonderful overall, but there were a few disappointing points: - There was no shoehorn at the entrance (though there was a chair). - The refrigerator wasn’t very cold. I tried to lower the temperature but couldn’t find how to adjust it. - The front desk staff spoke very quietly, so I had to ask several times. My husband has some hearing difficulty and couldn’t hear them at all. - The restaurant restroom sink is very small. When washing hands water spills onto the floor; after wiping and washing again, more water spills again... Things that would have been nice to have: - An extra bath towel It wasn’t an Onsen bath, but since the bath felt so good I wanted to use it multiple times. - Another pillow I wanted one more as a body pillow. - Beer There were soda and sake in the fridge, but beer after bathing would have been perfect. We enjoyed the locally sourced dinner; everything was delicious. There were also some unique items on the menu, and we were very satisfied. Breakfast was a standard Japanese set meal, but I loved Miyazakiya’s “Yamabuki Sansho” and bought some as a souvenir.

    Consistently delicious food and drinks

I have stayed with NIPPONIA many times, and what I trust most about NIPPONIA is the outstanding food and drinks. Savoring delicious cuisine while experiencing the charm of Japan’s rich history in an Accommodation truly elevates the sense of escape from everyday life. I enjoyed my stay again this time—thank you very much.

    Thank you for your support.

Thank you for taking care of us on our family trip. We were truly impressed by the staff’s exceptionally courteous service. The soy sauce brewery activity was also very enjoyable. Thank you very much.

You can also enjoy the town of Iga from the inside.

We love the NIPPONIA series, and this time we stayed as a family. We were able to fully enjoy the historic buildings of Iga from the inside. The restaurant was in a different building, so we could also experience another unique space from within—and enjoy the cuisine as well. We had a great time. However, perhaps because May was unusually hot, there were some large mosquitoes flying around. If mosquito coils could be provided, it would add to the atmosphere and be beneficial in two ways. They persistently chased us, so we would appreciate your attention to this matter. Thank you for all the enjoyable experiences. We also purchased the recommended karinto manju.

    Punctuality is required.

Thank you for your hospitality the other day. It warmed my heart that the staff member who served us during our meal last year remembered us. However, there is one point I would like to mention. We were told that dinner starts all at once at 6:00 PM, so we arrived about 10 minutes early and waited for the 6:00 start. But other guests did not arrive even after we waited, and everyone was finally present 20 minutes late. Isn’t it strange to call it a “simultaneous start” in that situation? Of course, we were not asking you to serve our meal before 6:00 just because we arrived early. Honestly, I feel it is unfair when those who follow the rules end up being disadvantaged. I also fully understand that the kitchen wants to plate everything together and begin at the same time. When I asked a female staff member about this, she laughed at me. That is the only thing I wanted to share. The food was delicious, and otherwise I have nothing else to say.

    A lovely Accommodation.

This was my first stay here, and it was an even better Accommodation than I had imagined. The Room layout was spacious, and having the rare experience of enjoying a private courtyard all to myself was especially memorable. Both dinner and breakfast were very satisfying. Although the bath is not an Onsen, it is a hinoki-wood bath, and I was able to relax and enjoy it. As this is a renovated old house, it can’t really be compared to a modern Hotel, but it may be just right for a restful getaway. I also recommend the atmosphere of the town of Iga-Ueno (there’s even a castle).

A Traditional Japanese House Accommodation in a Town You’re Visiting for the First Time

I stayed at an Accommodation renovated from a traditional old house, which has been becoming more common recently. This type of Accommodation often doesn’t include dinner, and I’d tended to avoid it because I worried about finding somewhere to eat, but this time the deciding factor was that dinner was included. There are four Accommodations in town, and we stayed in the building with the reception desk and restaurant. It was very convenient because we could relax in our Room right after the meal. Guests staying at the other facilities seem to have shuttle service, but for those who want to unwind immediately after dinner, I think KANMURI’s facility is especially well suited. Of course, each one has its own charm, and it made me want to try staying at the other locations as well. The food focused on local ingredients, and it was also memorable that the staff explained everything so carefully. Thanks to their kind service, we were able to enjoy our meal comfortably. If I had one concern, it would be that the hot water in the bath didn’t flow very strongly. Since the bathtub is fairly large, it took quite a long time to fill. Even after more than an hour it still didn’t feel full enough, and because there’s no reheating function, it may be a bit difficult to take another bath later. Overall, it was a wonderful Accommodation where we could enjoy the unique atmosphere of an old house while taking our time over a great meal.

    I stayed in a first-...

I stayed in a first-floor Room in the KANMURI building. I was surprised by how thin the Room door was, and the door lock was also a very simple type. I was also surprised that the safe placed inside the closet seemed light enough to carry easily. Although I stayed alone, there was only one large towel and one small towel in the bathroom, which felt a bit cheap. The bath itself was wonderful with a hinoki wooden tub, but the faucet for filling it was small. Since it was a cold season, as I filled the bath little by little, the water temperature gradually dropped; partway through, I filled it using water at the maximum temperature of 60°C before getting in. On the morning of check-out day, I didn’t feel like taking another bath. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent, incorporating local ingredients. The rice cooked in an earthenware pot for breakfast and the miso soup made with sake lees had a bold flavor, and I was satisfied with the refined taste of simmered Iga beef as well. For dinner, the Iga beef recommended at check-in was very delicious, and I appreciated that the staff member who served us quietly refilled our bread. The traditional Japanese-style house felt nostalgic yet very fresh. It made me want to stay at other NIPPONIA Accommodations within Japan as well. The Saturday after check-out, NIPPONIA in Ozu City, Ehime Prefecture appeared on “Tabi Salad.”

It is indeed a great accommodation.

Delicious cuisine paired with matching drinks, and an accommodation where you can feel the daily efforts of the staff. Every NIPPONIA property is truly wonderful and highly recommended.

I booked a last-minute reservation as I managed to get time off at the end of the year. Upon arrival, there were a few moments of confusion, but personally, I found the service and facility to be satisfactory. After my stay, I researched and discovered that this is a major chain with several locations in Kyoto, which made sense to me. As mentioned in Google Map reviews, the facility utilizes a historically old building, so it can feel slightly chilly during colder seasons. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

We stayed as a family of five! We chose this accommodation as we were looking for a nearby place to relax. The room was very clean, well-maintained, and lovely. The meals were absolutely delicious and very satisfying! Although the room was located a bit far from the front desk, we appreciated the shuttle service provided during meal times. Before making the reservation, I checked other reviews mentioning an unfamiliar local man approaching guests, and indeed, it happened to us too—it was quite surprising! It’s understandable why some consider this a negative point.

    Wonderful facility

The property is incredibly spacious and features a stunning private villa with a dedicated sauna, a large garden, jacuzzi, and cold bath. It includes three bathrooms, three bedrooms, and three toilets—more than enough for our stay. Upon arrival by car, we were guided from the reception to the villa. However, we were surprised to find that the slippers were still sealed in plastic bags for us to open ourselves—reminiscent of a business hotel experience. Despite informing them of our arrival time in advance, none of the lights were turned on when we arrived. While they explained how to turn on the lights and sauna power switch, they didn’t explain how to heat up the sauna properly. Additionally disappointing was that the outdoor jacuzzi area with sofas and reclining chairs was covered in fallen leaves—even inside the jacuzzi itself! We ended up cleaning it ourselves while it was still daylight. Considering it cost around 180,000 yen per night, some basic cleaning beforehand would have been appreciated. The shuttle service to dining locations was convenient; meals were delicious; and even late-night snacks provided as part of their service made us happy. However, during dinner service—a high-end French meal—the staff member delivering our food had their phone ring unexpectedly during their explanation! This seemed unprofessional for such an upscale dining experience—it should have been set to silent mode. On a positive note: all drinks in the room’s refrigerator (including non-alcoholic beverages and local alcoholic options from Mie) were complimentary and very enjoyable. While this is undoubtedly an amazing facility overall, more attention to detail would elevate its quality even further.

This was my second stay, and just like the last time, I had a very relaxing experience. The room I reserved had an issue with the cypress bath, but I received a kind and detailed notice about alternative options in advance. The alternative room was so comfortable that, just like last time, I found myself wishing I could live in such a home. It’s a pity that I could only stay for one night... The staff's courteous yet perfectly balanced service and the delicious meals were as wonderful as ever—especially the exceptional taste of the Iga beef. Unfortunately, due to less-than-ideal weather this time, I couldn’t fully explore the sights of Iga. If given another opportunity, I'd love to visit again. Thank you very much!

    Relaxing Stay

Stayed with three generations! The Room, dinner, and breakfast were all excellent. The focus on local ingredients and the high quality of the food were impressive, and the service was great! The Room was clean, well-maintained, and had a private villa-like atmosphere. Local snacks from a nearby candy shop were provided in the Room, and they were so delicious that we ended up going to buy more. One point to note: While this is not the Hotel's responsibility, parking near the lobby building often led to interactions with a neighboring resident. They would approach and sometimes start conversations, which might not be the most comfortable experience. It seemed challenging for the Hotel staff as well. I would love to stay here again if I have the chance!

    We had a wonderful time.

The meals, made with local ingredients, were absolutely delicious both in the morning and evening. Upgrading to a fish dish for dinner and choosing rice with raw egg for breakfast was a perfect decision. A map for exploring Iga Ueno was provided, and the staff kindly explained nearby shops and tourist attractions around the accommodation, showing thoughtful touches to help guests enjoy Iga. It was an excellent accommodation that makes me want to visit again. Thank you very much!

    Immerse Yourself in Historic Streets

In the castle town of Iga City, known for preserving its old streets and ninja-themed town planning, I enjoyed an extraordinary stay at NIPPONIA Hotel that felt like a time slip to the past. The staff's guidance was attentive, allowing me to fully enjoy my trip without any concerns. Indeed, it took an hour to fill the hinoki bath! (laughs) The cuisine featured hearty dishes made with local Iga ingredients, and the sake was delightful. I would love to experience another Room next time. Thank you very much!

This time, I stayed at MITAKE 304. The accommodation and meals were both excellent. Although I was a bit concerned due to the limited photos available when making the reservation, it turned out to be very comfortable and satisfying. The room's spaciousness and the sense of style in the furnishings were all great. The veranda was pleasant and a nice space; adding chairs might make it an even more relaxing environment. As for the meals, the timing of service, taste, and overall service were all outstanding.

    Excellent!!

This trip was to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday. We also reunited with my son's family, who recently returned from an overseas assignment, bringing together family members from Kobe, Kanagawa, and Ibaraki. I wanted to show my grandchildren the Great Buddha of Todai-ji and the Ninja Museum of Igaryu while ensuring a Plan that included a Room and meals enjoyable for adults as well. You exceeded our expectations, and we are truly grateful. The meals were exceptional, showcasing local pride through locally sourced ingredients from Iga Ueno. Thank you very much!

    In beloved Iga Ueno.

Iga Ueno is a city I love, and I often visit from Shiga for day trips to enjoy lunch, traditional sweets at Iseya, and the charming streets without utility poles. On a previous visit, I came across this accommodation by chance and thought it would be nice to stay here someday. Thinking it might not be crowded before Golden Week, we decided to book a stay. The room had a pleasant wooden aroma and was very clean. Although there was no TV, my husband—who usually avoids reading due to poor eyesight—surprisingly picked up a book during our stay. I enjoyed relaxing in the hinoki cypress bath followed by an afternoon nap. We spent leisurely moments sipping tea on the veranda while savoring my favorite kusa-koro mochi—a truly blissful experience. Dinner was exceptional; among recent French meals we've had, this one stood out as top-notch. While I couldn't drink wine due to health reasons and opted for non-alcoholic beverages instead, my husband thoroughly enjoyed the recommended sake and even finished his dessert—a rare occurrence! Breakfast featured shiny steamed rice with delicious kasujiru soup alongside tasty side dishes that complemented the meal perfectly. The staff were wonderful throughout our stay, making us feel warmly welcomed. This is an accommodation we’d love to revisit in another season! Thank you so much for everything!

The atmosphere of the town and the accommodation was, of course, wonderful, but the staff's attentiveness and thoughtfulness made it an exceptional stay. The room was chosen for its semi-open-air feature, but it was too cold to open the door. However, the aroma of cypress filled the space, which was pleasant. The sink did not provide hot water even when turned to "H," so I used a shower bucket to collect hot water. At the restaurant, despite being busy, the staff kindly explained various things, making for an enjoyable meal. The pick-up and drop-off service was also convenient. Adjusting room temperature and humidity is understandably challenging, but this accommodation would be ideal during seasons with favorable weather. Thank you very much!

I enjoy staying at several NIPPONIA Hotels because I love old buildings. The Room was beautifully renovated while preserving its original structure, making it comfortable to stay in, and I also enjoyed the charm of the old fittings. Of course, as it is an old building, there was a slight chill from gaps letting in outside air, but multiple heating devices were provided, so it wasn’t much of an issue. The meals were French cuisine made with plenty of local ingredients, and they recommended drinks that paired well with the food, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I look forward to staying again in a different Room next time!

Points to Note (Based on Stay Experience)

This Stays does not prohibit children, so if you choose an area with Rooms that accommodate a large number of guests, there is a risk of having families with children in the neighboring Room. Due to the nature of the Stays, there is no soundproofing, so it may not be possible to ensure a quiet stay.

    Emotional architecture and exceptional dining

The meals, both dinner and breakfast, were delightful, utilizing local ingredients with exquisite presentation and beautiful tableware, complemented by attentive and excellent service. The Property had a wonderful atmosphere and was very relaxing. The coffee and tea in the Room were delicious, and the complimentary drinks in the refrigerator were a thoughtful touch. However, winter in Iga Ueno was surprisingly cold, and the Property itself was slightly chilly. Even so, it was such an enchanting experience that I would love to stay at the same Property or one in the same group again.

    Wonderful Traditional Japanese House Project

I stayed at the Nipponia series for the first time. A Property that blends into the castle town of Iga, yet stands out prominently. It is sophisticated, with craftsmanship hidden in every detail of the building, evoking a sense of exhilaration from Japan's wonderful art. There is a separate restaurant building from the accommodation building, and the fantastical space created by the glass walls and lighting has an intoxicating effect... The meals are well thought out and very delicious (I always wonder why Japanese ingredients are so delicious no matter where you go...) As for the four points of the guest room, I couldn't find blackout curtains, so I couldn't wake up well. The bath is not an Onsen, but it was a very spacious space, and I was able to enjoy a pleasant bath, so it's perfect.

A wonderful adult Stays in the castle town

I was able to take a sudden break and stayed at this Hotel. There is a decentralized Stays that blends into the historic castle town, and when you pass through the noren at the front and enter, you find a wonderful courtyard and a magnificent building. I heard that this was originally a medicine shop. The staff's hospitality is excellent and very pleasant. Our Room was about a 6-minute walk within the castle town, and upon entering the Room, there was a scent of cypress, and from the large glass window, you could admire a wonderful courtyard with moss-covered rocks. The bath was perfect, allowing even someone like me, who is 181 cm tall, to stretch out and soak up to my shoulders. When you open the window, it becomes an open-air bath, and although I thought it might be cold because it's a wooden house, there were heating devices installed everywhere, and the Room was warm and cozy. On the bed, there was a blanket, and next to the sofa, there was a lap blanket, which was a delightful touch. I brought my own JBL Bluetooth speaker, so I enjoyed a blissful time reading while listening to my favorite BGM. The refrigerator was stocked with plenty of alcohol and soft drinks, which you can enjoy for free! Also, the dinner focused on local ingredients, and you could see photos and comments of each producer. The chef maximized the potential of the carefully cultivated ingredients with wonderful plating, and each dish conveyed the passion of the people involved, making it a memorable meal! It was our first visit to the castle town of Iga Ueno, with its castle, ninjas, and Matsuo Basho, and it was a Stays that left a lasting impression on us as a couple. Thank you for the wonderful time!! P.S. The name and logo of "NIPPONIA HOTEL Iga Ueno Castle Town" are just too wonderful!! I liked this naming and made a Reservation, and it was the right choice!!

I would like to stay again.

The meals, both dinner and breakfast, were very delicious. We were able to enjoy a lot of delicious ingredients from Iga! The weather was good on both days, making it easy to walk around the town, and we enjoyed the features of the decentralized Hotel. Since we usually live in an apartment, having stairs in the Room and moving between the upper and lower floors was refreshing. The cool morning air was pleasant, and we enjoyed the seasonal sake lees bath, which was very relaxing. Although the town of Iga Ueno is small, it has many attractions, and I would like to visit again!

I was able to relax in an atmosphere full of charm.

The Room was very charming and relaxing. Although it was old, it had a sense of cleanliness, and I appreciated that the water facilities were new. As noted in the prior notice, the insulation was indeed inferior due to the Japanese-style house, but there were heaters prepared everywhere, so there was no inconvenience. There were many young staff members, and there were moments when explanations were a bit awkward, but their earnestness was conveyed, and I did not feel uncomfortable. However, during the meal, we were guided to our seats while wearing our coats, and I also saw other groups confused because their coats were not taken. It would be even more delightful if there was a bit more flexibility in consideration. Overall, it was a very satisfying stay, and I would love to visit other regions as well.
