    Rose and Vineyard

    We stayed as a family of three to celebrate my father’s 80th birthday. After about a 40-minute drive through the countryside from Niigata Station, we arrived. We enjoyed the rose garden, the winery tour, browsing the shops, and the Onsen spa, then dinner began with an aperitif under the stars while looking out over the vineyards. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent French cuisine featuring local ingredients. From the restaurant, you can take in sweeping views of the vineyards and Mt. Kakuda beyond them. The staff’s professionalism truly stood out, and it was a wonderful stay in every respect. From the fluffy towels in our Room to being kindly seen off with an umbrella on a rainy departure, every detail was thoughtfully handled and made our time very comfortable. My parents were delighted as well, so we were very satisfied. Thank you very much.

    A Moment That Feels Like Being Abroad

    I visited during rose season to celebrate a birthday. From the first-floor Room, you can step straight out into the vineyard. The Room is spacious and airy, and the meals are delicious. The spa Facility was better than expected.

    A wonderful place to spend time

    It was rainy on the day we arrived, and sunny the next day. It had been a long time since I drank this much wine. Our schedule on the day we visited was: Arrived at 10:00 a.m. – welcome sparkling wine (Yamadori) 11:00 a.m. winery tour – tasting of three wines Lunch at the café Hot spring at Vinespa until check-in Check-in 4:00 p.m. happy hour rosé 5:30 p.m. dinner A toast with sparkling wine in the cellar (a thoughtful touch) Six wine pairings during the meal The dinner portions were modest and gentle. We enjoyed many different wines, and it was hard to choose a favorite—but we were able to find one we truly loved among them. The Room was spacious and comfortable, and the Albariño vineyard and mountain view were incredibly relaxing. It’s a place I’d love to visit again someday. The bread was also delicious, so we bought plenty to take home. Thank you very much.

    Wonderful!

    An exceptionally hospitable and highly satisfying Accommodation overall. If I had to mention a few minor points: there is no full-length mirror in the Room (only in the washroom), and you need to wear outdoor clothing to get to the Onsen (so rain, wind, or snow could be a concern). The restaurant for meals is the same. That said, these are more than made up for by the outstanding food, the wonderful service from all staff, and the thoughtful presentation of meals and tea. My wife and I were able to relax at our own pace and truly enjoy our stay. I was honestly surprised that many of the other guests were quite young.

    Two Days of Indulging in Wine

    Staying at a winery and enjoying the auberge experience made for a truly wonderful stay. The service and hospitality were exceptional, and my companion was delighted as we indulged in two days of wine-filled bliss. Here are some highlights: - Welcome drink (wine cocktail) during check-in with detailed explanations about the facilities. - The beauty and cleanliness of the room, complimentary items in the fridge, coffee, tea, and several liters of water provided as a service. - Spacious bathroom and toilet with AVEDA amenities (note: no basic skincare products provided). - Luxuriously soft towels in the room (planning to purchase these through next year's hometown tax program). - Abundant dinner and breakfast options (almost too much to finish). - The onsen at Venus Spa in a separate building had excellent water quality (highly alkaline for smooth skin). - Most guests were Japanese couples around our age—likely Christmas date-goers. - Generous wine tasting during the winery tour (two glasses of red/white wine worth approximately 6,000 yen each). We tried about ten types of wine including tastings; my personal favorite was a red wine served during Happy Hour at the lounge, which I ended up purchasing to take home. Additionally, I discovered they use craft beer from their own brewery—enjoyed it immensely during dinner due to its outstanding quality—and bought some as souvenirs too! This semi-secluded stay offered diverse experiences all within their premises without any chance of boredom. A couple of minor drawbacks: being on an affordable SIM card meant no signal around the accommodation area; even Wi-Fi inside dining venues didn’t work well at times which caused inconvenience. Also worth noting is that since it’s wooden construction soundproofing isn’t perfect—you can hear voices from neighboring rooms or downstairs lounges late into midnight hours where laughter echoed until 12 AM; earplugs provided might have helped here. Lastly—a must-recommendation! During breakfast when you can choose unlimited soft drinks alongside bread from their bakery—don’t miss out on trying their tomato juice! It’s as premium as wines sold in their lounge yet incredibly delicious—a perfect remedy for morning-after hangovers!

    A delightful escape with wine in an extraordinary setting

    I had the pleasure of staying at Travignue, a place I had wanted to visit for a long time. I stayed in the "Otter" room, named after one of the wines from the Carvedoc animal series. The interior was stunning, and the view of the vineyard from the window was breathtaking! It left me deeply moved. Not only were the wines exceptional, but both dinner and breakfast exceeded my expectations with their high quality. The freshly baked bread and dishes made with an abundance of fresh vegetables and ingredients were truly delicious. Participating in a winery tour allowed me to appreciate the challenges of winemaking and feel the passion that winemakers and winery staff pour into their craft. It inspired me to continue supporting Carvedoc's wines, which hold endless potential for growth. The hospitality and thoughtful care provided by all staff members also left a lasting impression on me. I look forward to visiting again in the future!

    It was the best time.

    It was difficult to secure a reservation, but I finally managed to stay. I was satisfied with the service, room, and meals. The dishes made with seasonal local ingredients paired perfectly with the wine. Everything was delicious. For breakfast, there were various types of bread available; I wanted to try them all but had to give up as I was too full. This time, I visited during the grape harvest season, but now I want to come back in a different season as well.

    The scenery is also a feast.

    The weather was perfect, and relaxing while overlooking the lush green vineyards under the blue sky was an exceptional experience. Although it can get quite warm in Niigata, the sea breeze made outdoor walks comfortable. The meals exceeded expectations, and we highly recommend adding the option to pair six different wines with your dishes. The sommelier's selections were impressive, allowing you to savor wines that can only be enjoyed here.

    It was an excellent meal.

    The welcome champagne, wine pairing, staff explanations and hospitality, and the excellent dishes were all outstanding. Among the Hotel restaurants I have visited in recent years, this was the best. Since it was a trip focused on food and wine, I was very satisfied. As for other various Facilities at Cavedocchi, there were no major complaints but a few minor disappointments, so I gave it 4 stars. Still, I would love to visit again if given the chance!

    Always a Wonderful Auberge

    The garden is exceptionally beautiful this season, and we visited specifically to enjoy it. The roses exceeded our expectations, blooming abundantly and creating a stunningly serene atmosphere. The dinner wine list now features more of the winery's own selections, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The wines reflect the passion of the winemakers—pure and gentle, much like the sandy soil and mineral-rich environment they come from. Breakfast remains as exceptional as ever—salads, tomato juice, bread, yogurt—all absolutely outstanding. For me, it’s truly the best breakfast in the world. Thank you for such a delightful experience. The staff at the auberge always welcome us warmly and provide a refreshing retreat. We are deeply grateful. Looking forward to seeing you again!

    Stayed for one night...

    Stayed for one night during Golden Week. Honestly, I didn't expect such a wonderful winery-attached Hotel in Niigata. Completely satisfied with the wine, meals, Room, and other Facilities. The staff seemed to be very knowledgeable about wine and answered all our questions accurately, which showed their attentive care. I would love to visit again.

    I received very kind assistance in recovering from my mistake. Thank you very much. One star was missing from the room amenities because there were not enough basic skincare products. I don't usually use Aveda, so I'm not sure, but there was only one item for washing hands and face, no toner, and just lotion. The Onsen was a bit far away, and with stormy weather, I didn't feel like going. The weather changed rapidly between thunder, storms, and clear skies; I enjoyed watching it endlessly through the large windows of the penthouse on the third floor. The balcony of the room couldn't be used as rain was blowing in heavily. The next day as well, I fully enjoyed activities like a wine tour, wood shed visit, Vin Spa until the 3 PM bus departure. Perhaps due to age or overindulgence in food and drink! Thank you for your hospitality!

    Heartwarming hospitality and a blissful stay

    A long-awaited visit to the winery stay I had admired for a while. While gazing at the silver wine fields with last week's snow still remaining, I was able to spend a relaxing and healing time in a stylish interior and clean, comfortable room. Unfortunately, I fell ill just before the trip and couldn't enjoy the wine and meals I was looking forward to, but thanks to the warm hospitality and kind consideration from all the staff, it became a special property experience. I'll definitely visit again! (The meal was rated by my wife)

    Fun year-end

    Staying with friends! The Flamingo Room had a mature vibe. The grapes were withered in winter, but it was still very lovely. Waking up to this view is absolutely breathtaking. The onsen was also very pleasant, and I want to go again~

    You can spend a day doing nothing but enjoying wine.

    I was able to spend a relaxing time in the quiet fields. It was just the season when the grape leaves turn red, and the welcome drink of champagne while looking at the scenery like a Millet painting was superb. There were events such as winery tours, Onsen, and a book cafe where you can sit back and pick up your favorite book, and I also enjoyed delicious meals that paired well with wine. It was perfect for a walk, and I would like to visit again in a different season.

    The auberge is number one in Japan for me. The hotel's attention to detail and sense of style are outstanding, and the comfort of the bedding is also the best in Japan. I am extremely satisfied. The cuisine is beautiful and delicious, and all the staff are smart, warm, attentive, and always smiling. I hope to visit again someday!

    This is my second time using it.

    I was able to relax this time as well. It's truly a wonderful Hotel. I think women would definitely be pleased. (Men too...) I was thrilled to see a comet in the evening. Just one thing! About the Shuttle Service bus, it used to be from Niigata Station, which was very convenient, but this time it was from Uchino Station. There was nothing around, and I had too much time on my hands. The station has also become new and beautiful, so I would appreciate it if you could come to Niigata Station again... Please consider it.

    A blissful time.

    The room's interior was lovely, and I was very satisfied with the fluffy bed, the provided bathrobe and amenities, and the drinks. Above all, the staff were attentive and kind with their smiles. The wine was excellent, and the food was superb. The onsen was alkaline and had a smooth texture, leaving my skin silky. I had a great holiday. Next time, I will stay for two nights or more!

    Luxurious time

    I spent a luxurious time with a winery tour, atmospheric interior, and fresh ingredients. The meals were delicious, and the presentation was creative and enjoyable. However, I felt that ayu and winter melon were a bit out of season as it was about to be October. Also, it was disappointing that the explanation of the carefully selected ingredients differed in attentiveness compared to the neighboring table. The staff at the next table provided a more detailed explanation, including the taste and local names, which was impressive. I believe there is individuality in explanations, but if they could be somewhat standardized, the dining experience would be even more fulfilling, which felt like a missed opportunity. However, in other aspects, I was able to spend a relaxing time in a rare and extraordinary setting. Thank you very much.

    We stayed in the Deluxe room on the 2nd floor (twin). The warm and kind hospitality from everyone left a lasting impression on us. We are not well-versed in wine, but the wine tour explanation was excellent, and we could feel the love for wine, which made it enjoyable. Looking out at the vineyard from the terrace of our room made us feel as if we were in Europe. Of course, we also thoroughly enjoyed the meals, bread, and service. The shuttle service was kind and very helpful. Thank you very much. We hope to visit again during the rose season.

    Wonderful!!

    I thought without hesitation that it deserved 5 stars. The view from the room became a memorable album. The food at the restaurant was delicious, and of course, I think the wine is among the best of Japanese wines. I usually only drink French wine, but I was surprised to find such delicious wine here! There are enjoyable places within the premises, so you never get bored. The age range of the guests is varied, and I am convinced that this is a hotel supported by everyone. The room was clean and comfortable to sleep in. Personally, I think the fluffy towels are a charm that foreign hotels don't have. I was also soothed by the warm smiles and hospitality of the hotel staff. I traveled from Tokyo, so the access is far, but it was a hotel experience that blew that away!! I'm really glad I went. Thank you very much.
