    We recommend arriving with an appetite.

    From the sophisticated design at the entrance to the Kyoto-style streets leading to the accommodation, everything lifted my spirits. Inside, it felt like a cozy home with its two-story structure, making it very relaxing. I stayed with a dinner and breakfast included plan. First, I enjoyed unlimited Kyoto sweets and drinks in the lounge, then indulged in a meat-lover's dream dinner. For a late-night snack, I had an egg sandwich, and in the morning, I savored a luxurious and hearty breakfast before leaving fully satisfied. I regret not arriving hungrier! The complimentary drinks provided in the room were all delicious—one night wasn't enough to enjoy them all. The staff's hospitality was exceptional, making this stay truly outstanding. I would love to stay here again if given another opportunity!

    It was a pleasant stay.

    We stayed as a family. The private open-air bath in the room required us to fill it with hot water ourselves each time, which was a bit inconvenient, but the bath itself was clean and pleasant. The meals had too much raw meat, which was slightly disappointing. It would be nice to have an option to choose between raw or cooked meat. Overall, it was a lovely space with great hospitality. We would like to stay again if we have the chance.

    Quite disappointing compared to expectations.

    I usually stay at Exiv Kyoto Rikyu when visiting Kyoto, but this time I decided to try something different and booked Nazuna through IKYU.com. The entrance and the hallway leading to the machiya-style accommodation were charming, and I entered the room with high expectations. However, it seemed more focused on design than functionality. The toilet and bathroom were downstairs, while a narrow steep staircase led to a cramped bedroom upstairs. There was a 10cm step before getting onto the bed with a light attached that was easy to trip over. The bath was also disappointing. As for the meal, it was a meat course. At check-in, I was asked if raw meat included in the course would be okay, and I said yes without realizing it would be an all-raw-meat experience. It started with completely raw tongue followed by raw loin and then raw yukhoe—dish after dish of uncooked meat. I've never heard of eating tongue raw before, so I asked staff about it; they assured me it's safe as no one has ever gotten sick from it before. If someone had gotten sick from eating raw meat here, this accommodation wouldn't exist anymore... I stopped eating midway through the course because it became too much for me. While they likely use high-quality meat given that we paid over 150,000 yen for two people per night with great expectations—it ended up being very disappointing overall. Honestly, even certain business hotels with rooftop open-air baths are far better than this experience!

    It was a wonderful stay.

    We stayed here as a couple for our anniversary. The accommodation, lounge, and restaurant were all absolutely wonderful, making it an unforgettable two days. What stood out the most was how amazing all the staff members were. They were incredibly kind, attentive, and full of hospitality, allowing us to have such an enjoyable time. We would love to visit again on another special occasion. We are very much looking forward to seeing the wonderful staff again. Thank you for two fantastic days!

    It was my first time...

    It was my first time using this accommodation, and the staff provided polite and clear explanations. The drink service in the lounge had a wide variety, which was great. Since most of the baths are outdoors, it gets quite cold in winter; I would consider staying again if some improvements were made. The meals in the morning and evening were hearty and very delicious. Thank you!

    Please improve your customer service skills!

    This was my first time staying here. The traditional townhouse atmosphere beyond the door was lovely! Dinner tasted good, but for the price... perhaps it's because it's a tourist area? What I found most disappointing was that on my way to check out, I encountered about three staff members, yet not one of them said "Thank you" or offered a farewell gesture like a bow. Considering the fairly high price paid, it felt lacking not to receive any parting words or gestures. Is this due to having younger staff? I believe there is still room for improvement! I hope staff training can be enhanced so that guests feel they want to return again!

    Dinner (Wagyu course...

    Dinner (Wagyu course) and breakfast were both very delicious, with just the right portion sizes. The complimentary drinks in the refrigerator were also appealing and well-selected. The bathroom was spacious, with a large shower booth and a semi-open-air bath of perfect size for relaxing. At bedtime, there was an issue where the air conditioner in the first-floor bedroom did not work. Since it was quite hot, we contacted the front desk late at night. They promptly brought us a portable air cooler and cooling wraps for our necks. Thanks to their efforts, it became cool enough to sleep comfortably. We truly appreciated their quick response despite it being late at night. It would have been nice if cleansing products were included in the amenities, but that's just a minor suggestion. Although there was some trouble during our stay, their attentive service made up for it, resulting in an overall excellent accommodation experience!

    The facility is clean. The service is average for the price...

    The atmosphere is pleasant, with a courtyard design reminiscent of Kyoto townhouses. Each unit serves as a room, and entering your own room feels exciting. Inside the room, the first floor features an earthen floor, sink, toilet, and bath; the second floor is the bedroom. However, since the first-floor earthen area is not a relaxing space and most time is spent in the second-floor bedroom, it felt slightly cramped for its purpose. Additionally, the stairs are quite steep, making trips to use the bathroom or bath somewhat inconvenient. The complimentary drinks in the refrigerator were appreciated. The bath has an elaborate design with a nice ambiance; however, during my stay in "Mizu," water around the bathtub created stylish footing but also accumulated stagnant water where several small insects were floating—this was unpleasant as it seemed like no circulation was happening. The meals were centered around meat dishes and overall delicious. While fresh cuts like raw tongue and skirt steak might appeal to some guests due to their quality freshness, they weren’t personally to my taste (though I didn’t experience any food-related issues). The traditional Japanese breakfast was also enjoyable. Check-in involved filling out necessary details on a tablet device that had poor responsiveness and usability issues—it took over 20 minutes including waiting time due to numerous required fields. As for service: while generally polite throughout check-in/check-out processes—staff gave off somewhat youthful impressions regarding tone/attitude at times lacking professionalism expected given pricing levels charged here compared against similar accommodations such as Fu〇ya Hosh〇i Mi〇sui etc., which excelled comparatively higher standards overall customer care delivery experiences offered elsewhere previously experienced firsthand observations shared above contextually noted examples provided accordingly

    Relax and unwind at the Ryokan.

    We stayed for two days for an anniversary trip. The services, such as free drinks and access to the lounge, were excellent. The late-night egg sandwich was very satisfying with its generous portion. We recommend arriving at the accommodation early to have enough time to enjoy the guest room and semi-open-air bath.

    Surprise Success!

    I booked this accommodation for his birthday trip. From the time of reservation, they kindly responded to my emails about the surprise multiple times, and on the day, the bed-making exceeded our expectations, making both of us very happy. It was an accommodation I had always been curious about, so I’m glad we could visit this time. I would definitely like to stay here again when visiting Kyoto! Thank you very much for everything!

    I was looking forward to it, but...

    I decided on Nazuna while browsing a travel reservation site for my stay in Kyoto after a long time. The entrance and the hallway leading to the machiya scenery were lovely. I was impressed by the staff's language skills, as there were many international guests. However, the check-in process took longer than expected, and seeing staff, part-timers, and linen workers pass through guest areas without saying anything felt off. It might be better if they had a separate entrance. Regarding the room, it was clean but seemed more focused on design than functionality. The toilet and bathroom were downstairs, with steep stairs leading up to a narrow bedroom where there was an unstable small round table. There was also about a 10cm step near the bed with a light attached that could easily cause someone to trip if unnoticed. Dust on bedside lamps and around sliding doors also caught my attention—it may just be me, but it bothered me. As for meals, we had a meat course that appeared to be prepared in the kitchen before being brought out by staff who added finishing touches at our table while explaining each dish. While they likely used high-quality meat, having what seemed like part-time staff handle this diminished any sense of exclusivity given its high price point. It’s not that part-time workers are inherently bad; however, delays in responding to questions or requests suggest more training is needed for them or perhaps observing similar accommodations at this level would help improve service quality. For nearly 140,000 yen per night for two people—expectations were understandably high—so it was quite disappointing overall. Kyoto is such an amazing place; I hope accommodations here aim not only for appealing designs or catering primarily to international guests but also focus on offering deeper substance in their services and experiences.

    It was a much more wonderful accommodation than expected.

    The attentive service made for a fulfilling stay. The building reflects the streetscape of Kyoto, and the guest rooms with private open-air baths are very comfortable. However, as the water facilities are on the first floor and the bedroom is on the second floor with slightly steep stairs, it may require caution for some guests. The hotel's dinner and breakfast were delicious and offered a taste of Kyoto. The late-night egg sandwich, drink bar, and alcoholic beverages were also satisfying. I was pregnant during my stay, but I appreciated their thoughtful accommodation in thoroughly cooking meat for me. However, I was asked multiple times by different staff about what I could or couldn't eat, so I deducted one star for this aspect of service. Improving this would make it even better! Still, I'd love to visit again if given another opportunity!

    We used this for her birthday trip. It was a Reservation with a surprise Plan, and the staff handled everything carefully, from the prior consultation to the decorations on the day, making the surprise a great success! The food was delicious, the Room was clean and had a great atmosphere, allowing us to spend a special time together. She was very happy as well. We would love to use it again if we have another opportunity.

    It was quite a wonderful property. Room/TAKE Refrigerator free drinks/all high-quality drinks are complimentary Guest room open-air bath/much better than imagined Breakfast/dashi chazuke: truly delicious Loungewear/excellent texture Lounge/superb *Good to know* Card key/only one provided Guest room open-air bath/cannot reheat the water Moving between the first and second floors/may be tiring for some people. It was truly a wonderful property that makes me want to use it again.

    I was very satisfied...

    I was very satisfied with the Facility, Room, and surprise service, but unfortunately, I did not feel that the customer service matched the price. Overall, the staff seemed young and had an atmosphere as if they were chatting until just before coming out from behind the scenes. It bothered me that they pointed out and corrected a colleague's procedural mistake in front of us (although I didn't feel it was wrong to point it out and correct it). Since this stay was a splurge gift for my husband, it was a bit disappointing that the customer service appeared casual.

    I was able to relax and unwind.

    What a surprise to find such a place! I was impressed. The staff were polite and many of them were young, which was refreshing. Both the dinner and breakfast were extremely delicious!! I also quickly devoured the egg sandwich for a late-night snack. There is no large public bath, but there is a lovely sento (public bathhouse) nearby. I would love to visit again.

    It was the best Ryok...

    It was the best Ryokan I have ever visited! The service might have been from a newcomer, as there were signs of inexperience, but they were very polite and left a great impression. The breakfast seating felt a bit cold, and there was only one set of cutlery initially, which was later replenished amidst some hustle. However, the meal itself was delicious. I would love to visit again if given the chance.

    It might take a little more time until it becomes more refined overall.

    Although the staff were mostly young and I didn't have any unpleasant experiences with their service, their awkwardness and earnestness made me feel a bit concerned. In the morning lounge, the coffee maker was unusable due to a lack of water and beans. Breakfast was on the second floor, but there was a lack of attention to details such as offering refills or checking if tea was needed after serving, as well as how to serve additional rice. Overall, perhaps due to being busy, they seemed overwhelmed with just getting through their tasks. I think it might take some more time for the employees to become more refined. Additionally, I wonder if there will be less separation from the outside world; seeing school buildings is somewhat disappointing. Nevertheless, I look forward to visiting again in a few years when they are more polished. Thank you very much and keep up the good work!

    A Property that feels like wandering into a traditional entertainment district with a Japanese-modern Room.

    The exterior resembles a traditional Kyoto townhouse, while the interior is chic and stylish. The private open-air bath was also very pleasant. Lowering the bedroom floor added a sense of openness. However, the bed was quite low, so a higher mattress might be more convenient. The original towels were also very comfortable to use. The full-course dinner featuring meat was delightful, with creative and original dishes that were truly enjoyable. It was a stylish and serene place to experience the essence of Kyoto.

    This was my fifth stay. I was warmly welcomed by the staff's "Welcome back," and I had a pleasant time. There was also a surprise, which made my daughter happy. Thank you for the wonderful birthday celebration. I was taken care of by the person in charge during this and the previous check-in. I look forward to the day I can see the staff again.
