    This Hotel was very ...

    This Hotel was very convenient, with direct access to the subway station. Most guests were international visitors, and there were not many Japanese staff members, but the service was very efficient and helpful. Even on the morning of the Gion Festival Yamaboko Junko parade, breakfast ran smoothly with no waiting time. It was also very delicious. The only thing that concerned me was that the Room pajamas smelled bad—not like damp laundry, but more like body odor. I have never encountered pajamas that smelled like someone else before. I think it would be better to change the laundry detergent. (I did not use the pajamas.)

    All the staff are friendly and welcoming!

    Every staff member we interacted with took a moment to say something, and it really showed how much they wanted to connect with guests and help us enjoy our stay. They were friendly, yet their Japanese-style hospitality and manners felt impeccable. It had been a long time since I stayed at a Hotel where the entire team provided such genuinely pleasant service.

    It was a wonderful Hotel!

    This was a Hotel I had wanted to stay at for a long time, and I was able to visit for my birthday trip. The Room was spacious and wonderful; I enjoyed listening to records by the window while having some wine, and had a great time. Thank you for the heartwarming birthday card! I truly appreciate the kind support from all the staff. Breakfast was delicious as well. Next time, I’d love to enjoy it by the window while looking at the trees. It was such a lovely Hotel—I would definitely like to stay again!

    This was my second stay. The building’s atmosphere was still amazing, and the Room we stayed in this time was spacious, stylish, and wonderful. Breakfast was delicious too. I’d love to stay again.

    A comfortable Hotel you’ll want to return to again and again!

    This Hotel warmly welcomes returning guests, and of course you can also enjoy IKYU member benefits. Located in a relatively quiet area of Kyoto City, it is convenient with many dining options nearby. The Room is stylish, with guitars and records on display. Since I’m not a fan of buffet-style breakfasts, I like this place where I can relax at my own pace. My favorite moment is listening to the loud music playing in the lobby when I return from dinner.

    A Memorable Hotel

    It was a very modern Hotel, and the amenities were thoughtfully provided. The Room layout and the lighting around the washbasin were also excellent. In most Hotels, the washbasin lighting makes it hard to apply makeup, but this Hotel seemed to have taken that into consideration as well. Thank you very much. It is a Hotel I would like to visit again when I have another opportunity.

    A Quiet Port of Call

    My third stay. For me, Ace Hotel Kyoto has become a destination in itself. Beyond the unbeatable convenience of being directly connected to Karasuma Oike Station, I’m always impressed by the warm smiles of the staff, their thoughtful attention to every detail, and the peaceful quiet of the Room—so silent you don’t hear a thing. It’s a Hotel that makes me want to stay forever. To all the staff, thank you as always for your heartfelt hospitality. I’ll be back again on my next trip to Kyoto.

    I booked this Hotel ...

    I booked this Hotel because it was new and seemed interesting. Honestly, it didn’t feel worth going out of my way to stay here. When I went to drop off my luggage early, I was repeatedly told that check-in is at 3:00 PM. When I asked if there was a coin laundry, I was told there are some nearby. I wished they had at least told me where. The glass in the Room was covered in dust, so I cleaned it myself. At breakfast, the table was wobbly. When I tried to ask if I could move to the next table, a staff member (who appeared to be from overseas) adjusted the table legs without saying anything and then walked away without a word once it stopped wobbling. If so, they should have fixed it before seating guests. They also seemed busy, but the person who brought the menu gave no explanation. Half of the menu is in English, which made it hard to read and difficult to understand what and how to choose. It also felt like we were being rushed. The breakfast restaurant staff level is honestly terrible.

    You can always enjoy a comfortable stay!

    It has a youthful vibe, but older guests can also enjoy that energy and feel refreshed. All the staff are friendly and pleasant. The building has a calm design, and there were records in the Room, so I was able to enjoy music on vinyl for the first time in a while. It’s a Hotel that makes you want to come back.

    Is this Kyoto or somewhere abroad...? A truly wonderful space.

    The hotel’s cutting-edge design was impressive, and everything—from the amenities and bedding to the room key—felt stylish. The breakfast restaurant and the gym had many international guests, which made it feel like being abroad and helped me truly refresh. The staff had a casual vibe, but their hospitality came through, and the service felt reliable. I’d love to stay again as a base for exploring Kyoto.

    A luxury Hotel where exploring the building is part of the fun.

    I’d always found ShinPuhKan—where you pass through when coming up to street level from Karasuma Oike Station—exciting, and I’d been curious about the Hotel inside ShinPuhKan for a while. This time the timing worked out, so I stayed here. On arrival, the casual interior design and the staff’s casual attire stood out, but I really appreciated the polite service you’d expect from a luxury Hotel. The room layout was well thought out, and it felt spacious for its size. The bath and toilet were separate, and it was genuinely very comfortable. Walking around inside the Hotel, I found it surprisingly complex—almost like exploring. The walk to the gym in particular was longer than expected, but thanks to that I was able to understand the layout of the preserved building wing, which made it very worthwhile. It was so good that sightseeing almost felt like a waste during my stay at this Hotel. I’d love to return if I have another chance.

    It was a wonderful Hotel.

    I stayed here with my daughter for a relaxing hotel getaway. I had been interested in this Hotel for some time, and spending time in the modern atmosphere of ShinPuhKan and its sophisticated building felt like being in another world—it was wonderful. Just as I expected, the building, the Room interior design, and everything about the restaurant were all excellent. However, I arrived at 2:00 p.m., when early check-in is available as an IKYU Diamond benefit, but without any explanation I was quickly told to come back at 3:00 p.m. because the Room was not ready yet. When I mentioned the benefit, I was firmly told, “It should say that due to our circumstances we may not be able to provide that!” Of course I understood that possibility, but if early check-in is not possible, most Hotels first explain the benefit and then let you know it will be difficult this time. In my case, they only handled it as if I had simply arrived early to leave my luggage—so even though I only asked about the benefit once, their wording made me feel very uncomfortable. I returned at the regular check-in time later. While waiting in line—worried about receiving the same unpleasant response—a different staff member assisted me with a warm smile and very polite service, which allowed me to check in with peace of mind. After that, everyone—from luggage storage to the restaurant—was consistently wonderful, and we had a truly enjoyable stay. The initial interaction shocked me, but what followed was such an outstanding experience that it far outweighed that disappointment. I also love the atmosphere around Karasuma Oike, so I would definitely like to stay here again. This time we stayed in a Historic Twin Room; next time I would like to try a different type of Room as well.

    It was wonderful.

    I enjoyed a hotel staycation with my 20-year-old daughter. Everything was completely satisfying. Both the Piopico bar and the Corsa breakfast were wonderful. The Room was stylish in every way—I even wished I could live in the Hotel. I’m already hoping to stay again soon, and many times. We have a Maltese at home, so next time I’m planning to bring our beloved dog, Momo, with us. And IKYU—please keep offering lots of great-value Plans at good prices.

    I stayed for one nig...

    I stayed for one night on the Yoimiya day of the Gion Festival. Before check-in, I enjoyed a relaxing afternoon tea at KOSA from 12:30, and thanks to an IKYU perk I was able to check in at 14:00. The Accommodation building was quiet and very comfortable. The Room was spacious and well designed, making it easy to relax. With such a great location, I went on foot around 15:00 to see the festival floats, had dinner at PIOPIKO around 18:00, and experienced Yoimiya in the evening. The next morning, it was fun to view the floats while they were still being prepared during a quieter time. Breakfast at KOSA was also delicious. It’s also enjoyable to buy Japanese sweets from Kamematsuhiro (opens at 9:00) across from the Hotel and savor them slowly in your Room. With an IKYU perk allowing a 13:00 checkout, I could have lunch while watching the float procession at another Hotel before checking out. With excellent Rooms, restaurants, and location, this is a wonderful Hotel that makes you want to come back again.

    Enjoy a fun stay with your dog.

    I stayed here with my dog. You can walk through the lobby on a leash, and dogs are welcome at the terrace seating of the Italian restaurant on the 3rd floor. The cafe on the 1st floor is also dog-friendly. This Hotel is highly recommended for spending time with your dog. The stylish design throughout the property keeps it enjoyable and never boring. Another great perk is that they offer free rentals of e-bikes and bicycles on a first-come, first-served basis. Exploring Kyoto by bike is really fun. I’d love to stay at this Hotel again. Thank you very much.

    There’s a smell on the pajamas...

    The location is excellent. The restaurant is calm and the food is delicious. Having a record player in the room was fun. The price is on the high side. Because it’s expensive, I assumed amenities would be fully provided and packed light, but there was no cleansing oil, face wash, toner, lotion, etc., even at the self-service amenity corner, so I had to buy them at a convenience store. Most disappointing was the smell of the pajamas and bathrobe. They were probably washed, but they smelled strongly of sweat. The odor was so ingrained that I couldn’t use them. For this price and this level of quality, it felt like an American Hotel—in a disappointing way. I’d like to use the restaurant again, but I don’t think I’ll stay at this Hotel again.

    This was my second stay since Golden Week. I was even more impressed than last time by the staff’s outstanding hospitality and warm, thoughtful service. They will store your luggage not only before check-in but also after check-in. Another major reason to stay at Ace Hotel is the complimentary bicycle rental for guests (electric and non-electric). It’s a wonderful Hotel that combines a casual atmosphere with beautiful Japanese-style scenery. It makes you want to come back again and again.

    It was a great stay.

    I stayed for one night on a business trip. I had to leave 30 minutes after breakfast started, so I had no choice but to choose the simplest option, but as a cheese lover I was very happy with it—and it was more filling than it looked. The view was wonderful, and although my time was short, I was able to enjoy a relaxing atmosphere. My Room was a Classic Room, and I also loved the approach overlooking the courtyard. It was disappointing that early check-in wasn’t possible due to Room availability, but having a changing room prepared for me was truly helpful. Perhaps this is common in Kyoto because there are many tea gatherings… (or maybe it’s also for weddings). I was also pleasantly surprised by how delicious the cookies and rice crackers provided in my Room were—I wanted to eat them again. All of the staff were friendly and welcoming in a casual way, which made my stay very comfortable. Thank you again—I’d love to stay again. I was a little surprised by how high the Accommodation Tax was… It made me wish residents of Japan could be exempt.

    Once again, we had a comfortable stay.

    I previously stayed here with my child and friends, and this time I stayed again with my son. We had a very comfortable stay. In addition to the convenient location, the cozy Room, and the design, even at breakfast—despite many guests of various nationalities and a busy atmosphere—the staff were attentive in every detail, and we truly felt their wonderful hospitality. We would love to stay again.

    A Hotel you’ll want to stay at again—comfortable even in extreme heat

    Kyoto was experiencing extreme heat day after day, but the time I spent at the Hotel and ShinPuhKan was very comfortable, allowing me to enjoy my stay without overexerting myself. The breakfast in particular exceeded my expectations. Each dish was carefully prepared, and I could really taste the quality of the ingredients. Everything was delicious, and it became one of the highlights of my stay. The location integrated with ShinPuhKan was also very appealing. During the hottest hours I relaxed at the Hotel, then once it cooled down I enjoyed walking around the area—overall a truly pleasant experience. All of your staff were warm and welcoming, and I would definitely like to stay again when I visit Kyoto. Thank you very much.

    Great if you’re here for the art. Hospitality, though…???

    This was my third stay. I had issues on two of the three stays. First stay: I went out and came back shortly before checkout, and for some reason housekeeping had already started. My valuables were left out, and items I wanted to take home had been thrown away in the trash, which was really upsetting. It even took time just to get them to leave the Room (they kept washing cups for a while), which left me feeling frustrated. Second stay: I had a very pleasant stay. However, as with the first time, perks and requests were not handled unless I followed up two or more times. Third stay: I went out before checkout. When I returned, my key card didn’t work. Apparently the checkout time had been set incorrectly. Of course, it happened when I was in a Room farthest from the elevator. When I went to the front desk and asked them to check, they simply said “You’re right,” and that was it. It felt like they didn’t recognize that this Hotel mistake cost me time. I was supposed to relax in my Room before checking out… If this happened on two out of three stays, maybe this is simply what Ace Hotel hospitality is like. Even when I emailed in advance with a request, asked again in person that morning, and followed up once more, I still had to explain everything from scratch again to the reception staff who actually handled it. The inconsistency between staff members felt extreme. If you think of it as a stylish-only Hotel, you may be able to enjoy it. The location is good too. I carelessly recommended it to someone I know—and they even made a Reservation. Now there’s no saving face for me. If they end up having an unpleasant experience because of my recommendation, I’ll feel terrible.

    Cool Hotel

    This is a very stylish and chic Hotel. You can feel their commitment to the environment throughout. Breakfast is not only beautifully presented but also delicious—I definitely recommend booking with breakfast if you stay here. I’d love to stay again. One star off because there was quite a bit of dust in the bar area of the Room.

    A stylish Hotel

    I had always wanted to stay at Ace Hotel, and I made a Reservation when I found a great deal during the summer sale! Both the Hotel and the Room were stylish and wonderful in every way, but there were quite a few things that were hard to figure out at first. For example, you need to ask the front desk for pajamas, it wasn’t clear how to remove the bathtub stopper, and the light switches in the Room were confusing. There were no instructions, so we struggled a bit at first. That said, the Room and bed were spacious, with large windows that made it feel open and airy. You can also watch YouTube and Netflix, so it was easy to relax comfortably. The avocado toast breakfast set was healthy, gently seasoned, and absolutely delicious. Almost all of the guests besides me were international travelers, so the staff mainly spoke English—it felt like being abroad. I’d love to stay again when I visit Kyoto. Thank you very much.

    About Staff Uniforms

    The Room was simple and comfortable, and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast. However, the front desk area felt crowded and chaotic. I understand the modern, casual, stylish concept, but I would have liked the staff to wear attire that clearly identifies them as staff and distinguishes them from guests.

    A long-awaited dream come true!

    I had been interested in this Hotel since it opened. When I saw it was offered at a discounted rate for Golden Week, my spouse and I quickly decided on a trip to Kyoto. The refined atmosphere exceeded our expectations, and we were very satisfied. I’d like to plan another visit to Kyoto so we can stay at this Hotel again.

    A stylish Hotel in every detail.

    Ace Hotel had been a dream stay for me for a long time. I found a great deal in an IKYU time sale and booked immediately! I usually avoid traveling during the crowded Golden Week holidays, but this year I took the Shinkansen all the way to Kyoto specifically to stay at Ace Hotel. It was only one night, but it truly lived up to its reputation as a stylish Hotel. Not just the Room—everything down to the door handles and hooks was thoughtfully designed. The lighting was beautiful, and even details like the curved walls and ceiling colors felt perfectly calculated. It looks Western at first glance, yet Japanese touches blend in naturally without feeling forced. Minä Perhonen textiles are used throughout, creating an artistic yet calm space. I was surprised to see a leather headboard—my first time! The firmness was just right, and I slept soundly until morning. The breakfast set had a great balance and portion size, and once again the interior design was wonderful. Enjoying breakfast while looking out at greenery through large windows felt so refreshing. I also appreciated that it wasn’t a stand-up buffet style; having a set menu was much better. The yogurt muesli was incredibly delicious! Even the tableware was stylish. I was impressed by how international the hall staff were, working efficiently with great energy. They seem friendly at first glance, yet they pay close attention to guests… Service isn’t something you push on people, so being able to do it that subtly is amazing—we were talking about that as we returned to our Room. From the breakfast area you can step out into a small courtyard. It’s full of greenery as well, so please be sure to check it out. There are two types of rental bikes: electric-assisted and standard. They come in different sizes (large and small), with an extremely stylish brown design. Maybe around 4–6 bikes? It doesn’t seem like you can make a Reservation, so you can borrow one if your timing is good. They have separate two-piece pajamas made of soft gauze fabric, but they don’t seem to be prepared in the Room by default, so it’s best to request them in advance. Without requesting them beforehand, you’ll have the gown-type pajamas provided in the Room. An artistic, casual, stylish Hotel—perfect for anyone who loves architecture, interiors, or greenery. It was one night that sharpened my senses and left me inspired. It’s also convenient that the Hotel connects directly to Karasuma Line. I’ve already made my next Reservation—a Tatami Suite for our family of four! We’re planning for winter, and I’m excited already.
