    Satisfied!

    From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a water feature where droplets fall gently into a basin. The lobby, with its large windows framing cool greenery swaying in the breeze and a full wall of mirrors, felt far more spacious than it actually was. Like the exterior, the design was modern. The welcome drink and homemade sherbet were also outstanding. The Room was simple and thoughtfully designed with no wasted space. A large window spans the entire front wall, and beyond it is an open-air bath. Onsen water flowed continuously so I could bathe whenever I liked during my stay. The shower amenities suited me well too—my hair turned out glossy and smooth. The tub is sized for one person to stretch out comfortably, so if you’re traveling with someone, it’s best if you have a relationship where bathing separately isn’t an issue. It was a bath I could have stayed in forever—watching the bamboo grove sway in the wind, seeing clouds drift by at night, and listening to birdsong in the morning. The meals were just the right amount—delicious without feeling excessive. In particular, the truffle rice was amazing: the chef sliced plenty of fresh truffle right in front of me. Even when I asked for another serving of rice, it came topped with generous slices of truffle again, which was deeply satisfying. I came partly for Onsen therapy because my swelling had been severe, but by the time I left my body felt much lighter and I could really feel the benefits. It became an Accommodation I definitely want to visit again.

    We had a very satisfying stay.

    My wife and I stayed here together. The Room was clean, with a simple and efficient furniture layout. We were very satisfied with the meals as well—I’d love to have the truffle rice again. The staff’s hospitality was outstanding. Overall, it was a Hotel we were extremely happy with, except that the sofa in the Room was a bit uncomfortable to use. We would love to stay again.

    A Quick One-Night Getaway

    To unwind from work, I often choose an easy trip around Atami, but this time I stayed in Yugawara without even leaving Kanagawa Prefecture. After taking a taxi from Yugawara and heading up the mountain road, we arrived in no time. The museum-like exterior took my breath away. The lobby is entirely glass with mirrored sides, creating an incredible sense of openness. The water bar counter had a wonderful atmosphere both day and night. The Room was spacious enough, and the open-air bath in the guest room was large enough to stretch out comfortably. Amenities such as towels were well stocked, so I could relax without bringing anything with me. Every dish looked beautiful, and the truffle rice I had been looking forward to was amazing! I happily asked for seconds (lol). There was also pressed sushi as a late-night snack, which we enjoyed in our Room with drinks. Breakfast was a gentle Japanese set meal—just right. Thank you as well for the complimentary bottle of sparkling wine included as an IKYU benefit. I’d love to visit again when the season changes!

    A high-quality Accommodation showcasing the chef’s exceptional flair

    This was a high-quality Accommodation where you could truly appreciate the chef’s excellent sense of taste in both the quality and quantity of the food. The bath was also wonderful and left a strong impression on me. I was particularly struck by a Nepalese female staff member who spoke Japanese well; she looked worried because a local bridge in her hometown had been washed away in a landslide disaster in Nepal.

    It may not feel luxurious, but it’s comfortable and welcoming.

    The Room we stayed in was wonderful, and both the guest room and the bath were very comfortable. Rather than a flashy sense of luxury, what stood out was the calm, cozy atmosphere that made it easy to relax. The matcha and truffle rice were delicious, and we really enjoyed the meals as well. The service of receiving a lovely pair of chopsticks for registering by email was also a small but welcome touch.

    A Serene Gourmet Accommodation

    I stayed here again during the Obon holiday. Soaking in the bath, listening to cicadas and birdsong, and the rustling of leaves as the wind swayed the trees—then looking up to see white clouds floating in a deep blue sky through gaps in the branches... It was a quiet summer moment where my everyday stress seemed to melt away. It was wonderful! This Accommodation is always impeccably cleaned and truly spotless whenever I visit. I’m impressed every time. The meals are also enjoyable, with thoughtful creativity each time. I was a little disappointed not to have the ayu zuppa that was so delicious last time, but there were many new dishes again this visit. Personally, this menu wasn’t quite to my taste, but it was still excellent cuisine that clearly reflected your constant care and ingenuity. One disappointing point this time was that there were no amenities in my Room, so I called the front desk, but it took several tries before I could get through. I understand it’s peak season, but since items like lotion are usually provided, I didn’t bring my own—so it was inconvenient not being able to use them right after bathing. Other than that, it was once again a satisfying stay: quiet, delicious food, surrounded by nature and truly relaxing. Thank you for taking care of me. I will visit again.

    We had a comfortable stay.

    This is a simple yet chic modern Accommodation located at the top of a narrow uphill road. The staff were courteous, the room furnishings were elegant, and the bed was very comfortable. All drinks in the refrigerator were complimentary, including Kirin Heartland (small bottle), and as a Diamond member we even received a half-bottle of sparkling wine. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious; in particular, breakfast was so plentiful it felt like no amount of rice would be enough—it was excellent (though the spoon didn’t match the masu-style panna cotta, making it hard to scoop from the corners, which was a shame). We stayed in a room with an open-air bath, but compared with what we’re used to, the shower booth’s temperature and water-volume controls were reversed left-to-right, so I accidentally turned up the temperature when trying to adjust the water volume several times (it might be safer if turning toward you lowered the temperature). As in the guest room and front lobby, mosquitoes were also an issue at the open-air bath. They seemed inactive during midsummer daytime but appeared early in the morning and at dusk, so I couldn’t do much reading there as I had hoped. Next time I’d like to visit in a different season.

    This is a wonderful Accommodation.

    The final uphill road when arriving by car is very narrow, so you need to be careful, but the Accommodation has a wonderful atmosphere. The Room is clean, the Facilities and amenities are well equipped, and the open-air bath in the Room is excellent. The meals were also great—truly a top-rated luxury Accommodation.

    I was able to relax.

    The Room was clean, and we could see trees from the window. Although it is in lively Yugawara, we were able to spend a quiet and relaxing time. We entered the destination into our car navigation system and phone navigation, but couldn’t find it, so we called for directions in the end. When we got close, a staff member ran out (even in this heat) to guide us the rest of the way. Everyone was kind, and we are very grateful. The meals were thoughtfully prepared and very delicious. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

    A Relaxing Retreat

    We were very satisfied with both the service and the food! Even though we ended up returning to our Room late, they served the birthday plate at just the right time, and we had a wonderful day. We would love to stay again!

    A place that warms both body and soul

    We stayed here to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday. Because she has allergies and we were visiting for her birthday, we exchanged emails in advance. You responded so kindly and thoughtfully that we were able to arrive with no worries at all. It was raining on the day, but you came out to greet us with an umbrella, carried our heavy luggage to the front desk, and even brought it up to our Room while we were checking in. From the very beginning, we felt reassured and could truly sense your outstanding hospitality. The tea and shaved ice served at check-in were also delicious. The Room was even more wonderful than in the photos. The contrast between the lush green bamboo grove beyond the window and the beautifully shaped white bathtub was breathtaking, and we were able to relax in a refined, calm space. Although it should have been hot outside, once we soaked in the open-air bath we didn’t feel the heat at all—it was incredibly pleasant. Bathing while watching a butterfly resting on leaves right in front of us felt truly extraordinary. Dinner allergy accommodations were perfect. Even with allergen ingredients removed, you ensured each dish still looked just as impressive as others, so my girlfriend could eat with peace of mind. Everything tasted amazing, and I ended up drinking quite a lot. The truffle rice was especially delicious—I had seconds—and I now regret declining when you kindly offered me a third bowl… I later tried to order truffle rice balls via room service at night but service had already ended, so I wished I had eaten more then (laugh). It seemed everyone had been informed about my surprise plan as well; you supported me smoothly throughout so I could prepare within time and carry out the surprise without her noticing. The charlotte cake I requested was also delicious. Thank you so much. To sum it up: choosing Miwa Yugawara for this birthday trip was absolutely the right decision. Every staff member was wonderful and highly service-minded, and I’m truly glad we stayed here. We soothed our fatigue in the open-air bath, felt satisfied with the delicious meals, and your thoughtful care healed our hearts. Thank you again for everything. We look forward to visiting again. Oh—and breakfast was delicious!

    Onsen also available in summer

    All staff were very well trained, and I was extremely satisfied from arrival until departure. In particular, the sliced truffles served with the rice looked wonderful and tasted excellent, and I was impressed that even the extra serving of rice also came with sliced truffles. If I had to mention one thing, the open-air bath in the Room was a little small.

    The best time

    The road to the Hotel was narrow, and just as we got lost, we happened to receive a call from a staff member. They kindly came all the way to where our car was and guided us, so we arrived safely. Thank you so much for your thoughtful help!! The Room is modern, and the open-air bath in the forest is perfect for anyone who wants to relax in peace. Many of the staff were from overseas, but their hospitality was outstanding—just as good as Japanese staff—in their explanations of the dishes, facial expressions, and gentle manner. We also enjoyed chatting about their home countries. Every dish was delicious, and for the final truffle rice, the head chef came out and sliced truffles right in front of us—the wonderful aroma filled the air. We were satisfied until the very end. The Room amenities had a soothing hinoki cypress scent, and in the forest open-air bath we relaxed to birdsong—it was exactly what we were looking for. We enjoyed it three times: daytime, nighttime, and morning. Service was perfect from check-in to check-out. One drink at the bar at night is free, so I highly recommend stopping by after dinner. We will definitely come again. Thank you very much.

    This is a very nice accommodation.

    This was my first stay. I rated the Facility and amenities 4 stars (there is no large public bath; the amenities are not especially extensive—no problem for me; the Room is a bit small; and the road to the Accommodation is narrow, so you need to be a little careful with a large vehicle—though several large vehicles were parked there, so it’s not impossible). Considering the price range, I think that’s understandable, and the meals were creative and delicious, so my overall satisfaction is 5 stars. I left feeling very happy to have found an Accommodation I would definitely like to visit again.

    We thoroughly enjoyed the cuisine and the Onsen.

    This was our third stay. It’s a wonderful Accommodation for relaxing, enjoying delicious food, and escaping the everyday while soothing away fatigue. Once again, we were reminded how excellent the cuisine is. From the dashi that forms the foundation of each dish, to the ingredient pairings and the timing of service—everything just felt right. Their signature truffle rice was upgraded this time with optional add-ons: butter, cheese, and egg, letting us change up the flavor with every bite! It was outstanding. The miso soup was also delicious. The final dessert was perfect in both presentation and taste. Breakfast was equally satisfying—from three kinds of “wake-up” juices to a wide variety of flavorful dishes making great use of local ingredients. We enjoyed everything. The staff provided pleasant service with just the right amount of distance, making this an especially comfortable Accommodation for us. We’re already looking forward to our next stay.

    Thank you for your exceptional hospitality beyond our expectations.

    This stay was truly wonderful—one that made me feel from the bottom of my heart, “I’m so glad I stayed here.” The Hotel was spotless in every corner, and I was able to relax in complete comfort. The staff were smiling throughout my stay, and their thoughtful attention to detail made everything feel effortless and pleasant. Every meal was delicious, and I could slowly unwind and recover from everyday fatigue. What moved me most happened when a typhoon was forecast to hit directly the next day and train services were suspended, leaving me worried about how I would get home. During dinner, a staff member kindly said, “Tomorrow we will drive you to Odawara Station, so please don’t worry—rest well tonight.” I hadn’t even asked, yet they offered such considerate support. My anxiety immediately eased, and I was able to spend the night with peace of mind. It wasn’t just good service—I truly felt this is a Hotel that sincerely cares about each guest. The Facility and meals were excellent, of course, but more than anything else, the warm hospitality of the staff has stayed with me. I would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

    Wonderful

    Perfect for anyone who wants to stay in and relax at the Accommodation. Both the entrance interior and the scenery are wonderful. Perhaps because there were fewer guests at that time, check-in and check-out were smooth with no waiting at all. Thank you as well for providing a shower chair and a bath step for my elderly mother.

    The bath is amazing.

    I stayed with a friend in Sansui on the second floor. The Room was a perfect size, and the view from the window was lovely and relaxing. The bath tub isn’t large, but it’s more than enough for one person, and the Onsen was excellent. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared and everything was delicious. The potato capellini in particular was unexpectedly good and memorable. I had a wonderful time and am very satisfied—I’d like to stay again. One thing: late at night, the footsteps from upstairs were very loud. It sounded like someone running around, and I could hear conversations at the outdoor bath until after midnight (past 24:00). In addition, every few dozen minutes there were sounds like a motor heating water for the outdoor bath along with running water noises that echoed; when sleeping in the bed by the window, it bothered me. I turned off power to my own bath, so I assume it came from a nearby Room’s bath. I felt a bit disappointed about the noise.

    A soothing place you’ll want to return to again and again.

    I’ve stayed here four or five times. The free-flowing natural hot spring water feels wonderful on my skin, and I’m always soothed by the scent of hinoki cypress, the greenery from the balcony, and the morning birdsong. The meals are also delicious, made with local ingredients. Another reason I keep coming back is the careful selection of tea leaves and how they’re brewed. The staff have been here for a long time as well, creating such a welcoming atmosphere that it feels like coming home.

    The open-air bath doesn’t feel relaxing.

    The bath that was fully visible from the Room did not feel relaxing, and I couldn’t unwind. The “Kodachi Twin” offered beautiful greenery and an open feel both from the Room and the open-air bath, but the round tub didn’t allow me to stretch out my legs, which was a bit disappointing. The meals met my expectations and were satisfying. The lovely chopsticks I received for registering as a member became a nice souvenir of the trip.

    A wonderful Hotel! The road access is challenging.

    The open-air bath attached to the Room had a wonderful location, and I enjoyed it many times. The entire Room was chic and free of unnecessary clutter. The food was outstanding, and thanks to the smiles and hospitality of all the staff, we had two very happy days. However, the road to the Hotel is extremely narrow, so it can be scary to drive there unless you are confident in your driving skills.

    This was my fifth visit, but…

    Both the quantity and quality of the meals suit our tastes. No matter when we visit, everything is delicious and makes us want to come back. This Accommodation has one of the highest repeat-visit rates for us. The Room is also easy to use, clean, and reassuring. The refrigerator is stocked with local juice and craft beer, and we really appreciate those thoughtful touches. On the other hand, this was our fifth visit in the past three years, and during dinner the chef encouraged us to take photos of the black truffle rice. We’ve already taken plenty of photos before, but we took some again anyway. We noticed that guests at the table before us were greeted with “Thank you as always” (we overheard that they visit once a year), which made us feel we still have a way to go. We’d like to keep coming back until we’re greeted with “Thank you as always,” too.

    Satisfied

    The entrance features an elaborate design with water cascading from above, and the sound is soothing. The Room isn’t very large, but it feels clean and refined. Everything was spotless, and the hinoki bath seemed newly replaced—beautiful and very pleasant. I did wish the bath were a bit larger. The meals were outstanding. Especially the roast beef—I couldn’t help wondering what I’d been eating as “roast beef” until now. Everything was delicious. The road to the Hotel is narrow, so I felt nervous about what we’d do if a car came from the other direction (it’s not one-way). We were able to relax and take our time. Highly recommended.

    For your first anniversary

    I found the perfect Accommodation for a surprise and made a Reservation this time. The atmosphere, meals, and Reviews were all excellent, so I arrived with high expectations—and it was an even more wonderful Accommodation than I imagined. Upon arrival, the manager warmly welcomed us, which made me very happy. With a welcome drink and sweets, we were able to relax right away. The Room had a modern feel while still being warm and inviting—an extremely comfortable space. The pure-white open-air bath outside the Room was spacious enough for two adults to enjoy comfortably. No matter how many times we used it, it warmed us through to the core—it was truly amazing. The refrigerator was stocked with plenty of drinks, so we could toast as soon as we arrived, which was also a nice touch. Dinner was Japanese-French cuisine that was easy to enjoy, and every dish was delicious. The staff explained everything carefully and responded kindly to our questions. Conversation flowed naturally, and we had a truly happy dining experience. We also appreciated the stylish bar service and the gift at departure—such thoughtful hospitality. The sushi souvenir was also incredibly delicious. Thanks to you, the surprise was a great success. It’s a wonderful Accommodation that makes me want to return for another special anniversary. Thank you very much.

    We’ll be back.

    This was our third visit, and once again we were completely satisfied with our stay. It was our second time visiting as a couple, and just like last time, the service from arrival to check-out was flawless. We definitely want to stay here again. As I wrote in my previous review, this Accommodation never disappoints and fully meets expectations. As an aside, Shortly before this trip, at a friend’s request, we stayed at a famous Hotel in Hakone that we had used before, but perhaps due to the impact of inbound tourism, the situation there was terrible. The room rate was high, and the service was the complete opposite of Miwa-san’s. Unfortunately, it ended up being a disappointing trip.

    The following points...

    The following points were especially outstanding and made our stay truly wonderful. 1. Above all, the meals were excellent (the most important and memorable part—especially the meat dishes and the truffle rice). 2. The staff were very pleasant, including a Sri Lankan team member wearing a “beginner” badge. 2. The interior design is tasteful; it doesn’t seem to rely on particularly expensive materials, but the warm lighting creates a lovely atmosphere. 3. The layout makes great use of the limited space, and the clever use of mirrors keeps it from feeling cramped. 4. The open-air bath has a tub with a built-in headrest, making it comfortable for one person to lie back and relax. I think it was wise not to build an unnecessary large public bath and instead keep costs down. 5. The shower room floor has just the right slope so water doesn’t flow out. This should be standard design, but even top-tier Hotels overseas don’t always get this right. 6. The in-Room drinks selection is well balanced, and the snacks are delicious.

    The food is delicious.

    The meals were very thoughtfully prepared, and we were extremely satisfied. The Room was also designed for comfort, with drinks stocked in the refrigerator and both a yukata and pajamas provided. However, as mentioned in previous Reviews, the bathtub is on the small side, and it may feel cold in bad weather. Also, a request to the Hotel staff: please clean the lower part under the shower chair. The bathrobe smelled a little... I would appreciate it for my next visit.
