    Bakunos is as fun as ever.

    It’s no exaggeration to say I came here for Bakunos—the meal was truly enjoyable, including the entertainment aspect. That said, maybe because of my age, by the time the main steak arrived I was already very full and ended up leaving some meat for the first time… I think the number of dishes and portion sizes are great for younger guests (lol). Also, I understand you can’t choose the Room type, but I would have preferred a twin Room; this time it was a double bed, so it would be even better if you could ask guests’ preferences in the future. Next time, I’ll skip lunch and try again!

    A Lucky Drive Around the Boso Peninsula

    Last year I stayed in the main building, but this year I tried the auberge. On the first day, after watching the sunrise at Inubosaki, I headed south along Sotobo through Katsuura and Kamogawa, visited Nojimazaki Lighthouse, stopped by Awa Shrine, and then returned to this Hotel. First, I relaxed in the scenic-view Onsen to ease my fatigue. Soaking in the bath with the vast Pacific Ocean right in front of me was a truly wonderful experience. Back in my Room, I enjoyed listening to music and reading, savoring a pace of time different from everyday life. One piece of good luck on this trip was having the teppanyaki dinner entirely to myself as a private booking. I enjoyed a delicious meal while chatting pleasantly with the chef and staff. The dishes were carefully selected with a focus on local ingredients, and they were also beautiful to look at. Another bit of good luck was being able to see the sunrise the next morning. The forecast had been cloudy with occasional rain, so I had given up on it—but when I woke up, it was clear. I hurried to the scenic-view Onsen to wait for sunrise and saw it right at the time indicated by the Hotel’s guidance. It made for an incredibly refreshing morning. I could also enjoy breakfast buffet-style in a private room at a relaxed pace—maybe I ate a little too much. On my way home, I headed north along Uchibo and ended up making a full loop around the Boso Peninsula. I would definitely like to visit again when I have another chance.

    Not worth more than 70,000 yen.

    Constant machine noise all day made it impossible to sleep. The Room was barely better than a basic guesthouse. The chair and bed were cheap. They claim to use premium ingredients, but the food was not good. Breakfast was on the level of a Business Hotel. Even within Chiba, it is worlds apart from the Kinokuniya Group. I will not be returning.

    Bakunos

    This was my second visit to Baknos in several years, and I was really looking forward to it. I remember that on my first visit the chef was very engaging and helped create a lively atmosphere, but this time I was honestly a little disappointed. A female staff member handled the explanations of the food and drinks and the serving, and when the chef came out later, he didn’t say a word and focused quietly on cooking. It didn’t quite feel as “theatrical” as I had expected. I would have appreciated a bit more explanation about the cooking or some conversation. That said, the food was delicious.

    I expected an auberge, but it was below a tourist Hotel.

    Drawn to the charm of the auberge and its exclusive limit of three groups per day, we were genuinely looking forward to our stay. The room itself was adequately prepared and provided a quiet environment, which was nice. However, we were deeply disappointed with the meals. I apologize for leaving a low rating and comment but feel compelled to share this so others do not have similar misunderstandings. At the time of reservation, it was mentioned that meals would be served in the main building; however, we never expected to be seated in what felt like a cafeteria (this immediately dampened the atmosphere). Upon entering, an apparently inexperienced staff member hesitated while guiding us to our seats. Once seated, they explained that part of the meal would be buffet-style and introduced free drinks where you could choose beverages to pair with your food. The "course meal" turned out to simply consist of multiple dishes served without any sense of cohesion or theme. The sashimi platter seemed pre-prepared for quite some time as it arrived slightly dry and lacking freshness. The sukiyaki came with an onsen egg instead of raw egg (though they did offer an option for substitution). Other dishes such as grilled items and soup were also served but tasted artificial and disappointing overall. The buffet selection was sparse—so much so that even a family restaurant's salad bar would seem more luxurious by comparison—and lacked visual appeal entirely. Rice and miso soup were self-serve; however, the rice had an unpleasantly sticky texture resembling mochi rather than properly cooked grains. Rather than enjoying our meal leisurely as intended during vacation dining experiences, we found ourselves wanting nothing more than to leave quickly due to how disheartening everything felt upon reflection—it still saddens me now thinking back on it. While I acknowledge responsibility for not fully understanding details about this accommodation plan beforehand: if meals from another building are included under certain plans like ours (separate annex), then photos showcasing both dining venues AND representative course examples should absolutely accompany descriptions online! Had these been available upfront during booking decisions—I wouldn’t have chosen here altogether—or at least managed expectations better avoiding such disappointment altogether afterward! Lastly regarding hygiene concerns observed within dining areas specifically female staff members wearing long nails despite polished appearances otherwise detracted professionalism negatively impacting impressions received overall suggesting shorter lengths might improve perceptions moving forward regardless courteous service rendered elsewhere throughout interactions experienced firsthand directly witnessed personally speaking ultimately concluding final thoughts shared above respectfully submitted accordingly thank you kindly consideration provided feedback offered sincerely hope     The meals were excellent! Completely satisfied.

    I enjoyed the course at Teppanyaki "Bakunos." The main building is a large Hotel with a slightly retro feel, but the annex is a separate, modern structure featuring three exclusive guest rooms. The Room was clean, and the private indoor bath was very relaxing. Opening the window slightly allowed for soothing sounds of waves and refreshing sea breeze. The in-room amenities were well-equipped, and there was a shared corner for coffee, snacks, juice, and canned beer available free of charge for all three rooms. Dinner at the teppanyaki restaurant was beautifully presented with thoughtful touches that made it feel like a special evening during our trip. Both the food quality and service were highly satisfying.

    Open-air bath

    The open-air bath was suddenly outside and it was cold. The Room's bath was available anytime and I was very satisfied. I wonder if the bath attendant was doing something else on the side? The food was luxurious, but I thought it would be a bit more elaborate. I could enjoy almost all-you-can-drink and it was delicious though.

    We stayed at the ann...

    We stayed at the annex and enjoyed the Bakunos course for dinner. First, the Room was small but clean, and the view bath was nice. The dinner was unique and enjoyable with its ingredients and performance. The dishes were extremely delicious, but it might be a bit rich for those who prefer lighter flavors.

    The meals were delic...

    The meals were delicious and we were very satisfied. The sashimi boat platter was excellent, and the idea of enjoying it with not only soy sauce but also salt ponzu or salt depending on the type of fish, as well as the buffet style and the suggestion of drinks that pair well with the meals, made it a wonderful property. The bath with carbonated spring was also great for relieving fatigue, and it's a property we would like to visit again.

    Comfortable Room and Guest Room Bath

    Stayed for one night on Sunday, November 10, 2024. The exterior of the building is box-like and not very impressive, but the room is cozy and comfortable. There were plenty of amenities and bath towels, and above all, the Onsen in the room was comfortable. The bathtub was large and had a sense of openness for an in-room facility. It was also nice to be able to watch Netflix and YouTube on the TV. There was also beer in the lounge. The highlight is the show-style teppanyaki, but I found the meal to be mediocre. First of all, it was lacking as a "show." There was hardly any performance. Since they prepare for 14 people at the same time, the waiting time is long, and the meal time was almost three hours. The steak was cooked medium-rare, but it was almost rare, which was not to my taste. However, the drinks were cheap. Three glasses of wine pairing for 3,000 yen. It was also nice that there was a non-alcoholic pairing. Considering the total cost of about 60,000 yen, including meals, the stay was comfortable, but my honest impression is that experiencing it once is enough.

    A highly recommended accommodation in Minamiboso

    We experienced a show-style dinner for the first time, and all three of us in the family were very satisfied. We encountered rare ingredients and were impressed by the owner's dedication. The white and red wines selected by the sommelier were exceptionally delicious, leaving us pleasantly tipsy. It was an auberge that we would highly recommend and want to visit again.
