A Hotel Noted for the Staff’s Thoughtful Attention to Detail

We stayed in a room with lounge access. What stood out most was the staff’s warm hospitality. They provided excellent support for our family member using a wheelchair, and their thoughtful assistance—from the parking area to the lounge and to our room—was truly helpful. The rental bicycles to Heijō Palace Site (with complimentary water) and the high-quality breakfast buffet also contributed to a comfortable stay. On the other hand, there were a few concerns, such as crowding in the lounge and an occasional missed turndown service despite prior arrangements. Overall, we were very satisfied and hope to see further operational improvements befitting a luxury Hotel.

    Quiet and comfortable

I planned to go to Nara for a meal, and since I was there anyway, I stayed one night. The high ceiling and the curved vanity area made it feel more spacious than it actually was. It seemed almost fully booked and there were many families with children, but the Room was quiet and comfortable. The bathtub was also roomy. The staff were friendly and pleasant, and I’d like to come back again for a relaxing stay. Breakfast was delicious too, with a clean and well-kept buffet.

    Warm, heartfelt hospitality

I used to think a Marriott Hotel might feel intimidating, but even though I was staying alone, the staff treated me warmly and with genuine care. I would definitely like to stay again. The morning yoga was also a truly blissful time.

A Hotel where the software hasn’t caught up with the hardware.

The Room was spacious and clean. The washbasin area was convenient with access from two directions, and the bath and toilet were separate. The lavender-scented amenities were nice, and breakfast was reasonably tasty. Nothing particularly unpleasant happened, and yet I did not feel it was a good Hotel at all. There are two reasons. First, I did not sense any hospitality or professional attitude from the staff—no feeling that they wanted guests to leave happy. The lobby lacked energy, they did not know about a well-known traditional sweets shop that appears in every guidebook, and because breakfast reception was handled by only one person, the receptionist guided guests to their seats while those waiting were left standing without any explanation for a while. Wouldn’t it be smoother to have the staff inside handle seating? At the very least, some communication would have helped. Second, the service did not match what I personally want. I do not need the hot towel and drink service at check-in (you are taken to the elevator right away, so there is no time to enjoy them), so instead I would like a TV remote in the Room with Japanese labels. A welcome message is appreciated, but I would prefer it in Japanese rather than English. I would also like a morning newspaper. It felt like the soft side of service has not caught up with the quality of the facilities. I do not think this is because there are many non-Japanese staff members. This time, it was disappointing that I felt none of the excitement you expect at a luxury Hotel.

    It was disappointing.

I previously had lunch at the restaurant at Marriott Nara and was very satisfied, so this time I stayed overnight. However, something happened at the busy breakfast restaurant. Since it was a buffet, I was not asked about any allergies, but I noticed that a couple who arrived later were asked about allergies. Also, after speaking to me, staff cleared my finished plates while I was still seated right in front of them, clattering the dishes as if to say they wanted me to leave quickly. They even stacked a glass on top of the piled plates, which made me feel extremely uncomfortable. The Room atmosphere was nice; there were plenty of towels; the slippers were very comfortable and easy to use; and the bed was very comfortable. However, it was inconvenient that there were no cups suitable for Japanese tea. I expect service and manners that match the high accommodation cost.

    It wasn’t suitable for children.

We stayed here as a birthday treat because the club lounge was available and there is an indoor pool. In conclusion, I don’t think we will return. Even though we paid for three adults, elementary school children are only allowed to use the lounge until 5:00 p.m. Moreover, the food served from 5:00 p.m. is completely different from what is offered before 4:00 p.m., and it felt like the main offering of the club lounge starts at 5:00 p.m. Although we paid an adult rate for our elementary school child as well, they cannot enjoy that food, which felt unfair. We were told that elementary school children are not allowed in after 5:00 p.m. in order to provide a luxurious space for adults, but couldn’t that “adults-only” time start after 6:00 p.m.? I understand excluding guests staying on a Child Sharing Existing Bedding Plan, but since we paid an adult rate, I still can’t shake the feeling of frustration about why our child couldn’t have dinner there even for just one hour. What was worse was the pool. It says that elementary school children must be accompanied by an adult, but there isn’t always staff monitoring the area. Under the name of “accompaniment,” I saw parents sitting there in regular clothes (not swimwear), wearing earphones and staring at their phones—making me question whether they were actually supervising their children. It may have been just phone use, but it also made me uncomfortable because of the possibility of covert filming. I feel smartphones should be prohibited on the poolside. Also, a staff member told us the pool is 25 meters long, but it clearly isn’t. In terms of lanes, it wasn’t even wide enough for two lanes—it was extremely narrow. This may be typical for a Resort Hotel pool, but it was by far the smallest pool I’ve ever seen. There was no lifeguard or monitor present despite a reasonable depth, and I wondered what would happen if a water accident occurred under these conditions. As this is a Resort Hotel some opinions may differ, but we wore shower caps to prevent hair from getting into the water; however many guests entered without shower caps, which made me somewhat concerned about hygiene. Right after we raised these concerns with staff members they came by frequently; however as time passed there were no staff around and parents continued to leave things unattended (while on their phones), which made me sad. Aside from this—staff members were polite and pleasant—but overall it was an unsatisfying stay with lingering complaints.

My parents’ anniversary trip became an unforgettable memory.

We stayed to celebrate a special anniversary, and it was a wonderful experience that far exceeded our expectations. From the surprise arrangements to the warm words from the staff, we felt genuine hospitality throughout, and our whole family was able to relax from the heart. The food was delicious, and this is an outstanding Hotel where you can feel attention to detail in every aspect. Thanks to this Hotel, we were able to do something truly meaningful for our parents. Thank you very much for making our special day even more memorable.

    Customer service needs improvement.

Stayed in a room with lounge access for two nights. The room was nice, and breakfast was delicious. However, there were two frustrating incidents: At check-in, there was no explanation about the lounge. When I asked, they checked and said, "Oh, you have a lounge reservation." A simple apology would have been appropriate. On the morning of the third day, when I went to the breakfast venue mentioned in the guide, I was told that since it’s a lounge access plan, using this venue would incur an additional charge. I explained that at check-in this venue had been introduced to me and that the lounge guide stated to use this first-floor venue due to reduced service in the lounge during breakfast hours. Despite this explanation, there wasn’t even an apology before being shown to my seat. On the second morning, I had been seated without any issues at all. It seems like this Hotel lacks proper training and coordination among staff members—truly disappointing.

I had a relaxing New Year.

Stayed at Marriott Nara for one night starting January 2. Conveniently located in the city center, near Nara City Hall. The room was clean and well-equipped with bathrobes, pajamas, comfortable slippers, plenty of towels, and turndown service. The indoor pool is relatively small but not crowded due to the reservation system. Meals featured French cuisine using plenty of local Nara ingredients and were enjoyable overall. However, the bread served at the hotel restaurant was somewhat underwhelming. Had a relaxing stay.

Thank you for staying with us over the New Year.

Stayed in a Junior Suite with lounge access. On New Year's Eve, we reserved Toshikoshi Soba through room dining, enjoyed live music in the lobby at midnight, and joined the countdown. For New Year's Day dinner, we dined at Azekura. Thanks to the exceptional hospitality, we had an amazing start to the new year. Thank you very much! We look forward to visiting again.

A step away from being a top-tier Hotel in an international tourist area.

Family trip to Nara after a long time, and we had high expectations for the hotel based on its pre-arrival image. However, the following improvements are necessary: 〇 Accommodation Room 401: Stayed from 12/2 to 12/4 〇 Improvement Requests 1. The bathroom sink drainage was clogged with hair, making it difficult to use. 2. No deodorizer available in the room. 3. On the second day, despite staying in the same room, the card key did not work. 4. On the first day, when we inquired about changing the time for a taxi reservation made for after checkout on our final day, staff initially said no reservation was made but later found it had been booked. *This is my first experience with such issues at this type of hotel...*

    It was my first visi...

It was my first visit for my mother's birthday. We stayed in a Room starting with the number 4, which was a bit disappointing for my mother, who is superstitious. (Many Hotels avoid using numbers like 4 or 13 for floors or rooms.) The meals and other services were not particularly outstanding but were generally satisfactory, and we had a comfortable stay! Though compact, the lobby and interior design were lovely.

A Hotel in Nara Prefecture Where You Can Experience an International Atmosphere

Stayed at a luxurious and urban Hotel for my birthday and enjoyed the impressive interior, furnishings, and service that truly lived up to Marriott's reputation. The stylish lobby made me feel like I was abroad. The Room faced the city hall, so the view was neither remarkable nor disappointing, but the bed and pillows were so soft that it felt like sleeping on clouds—I had a great night's sleep. I’d love to visit again during Christmas with a meal included!

It was a wonderful Hotel stay.

I stayed at the accommodation for my birthday. The hotel staff kindly offered their congratulations, making it a truly happy experience. At the lounge, they even prepared a birthday plate for me, for which I am very grateful. It made me very happy. It was truly a wonderful birthday. I look forward to visiting again in the future, so thank you in advance!

It was a wonderful birthday filled with thoughtfulness.

I have stayed at various accommodations ranging from 5-star hotels to city hotels mainly in the Kansai area and Tokyo, but this was the most delightful hospitality I have ever experienced! It made me fall even more in love with Nara. I stayed here for a birthday staycation, and the thoughtful service and pleasant surprises made my time truly happy from start to finish. While I would love to share more details, I want to keep them close to my heart as it was such a joyful and memorable stay. The dinner at Silk Road was absolutely enjoyable and delicious, with no complaints whatsoever. The adorable surprise from the restaurant staff during payment left me deeply touched. The pool staff were also incredibly helpful (delivering multiple bathrobes for us), showcasing an overall high level of hospitality throughout our stay. The room was not only comfortable but also impeccably clean. Next time, we plan on staying for two nights, and I'm already looking forward to it! Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience!

    Comfortable Stay

This was my second stay as I had a great experience last time. The staff were welcoming, and I felt comfortable in the cozy room. Although I hadn't made a reservation for dinner, I was lucky to find availability and enjoyed kaiseki cuisine at Azekura. The recommended unpasteurized sake "Shinomine" was delightful. It was served in a red cut-glass sake cup adorned with fresh red camellias, reminiscent of Omizutori, enhancing the flavor even more. I purchased the sake at the station on my way back home. Every dish was delicious, and I especially loved the kinome miso. My four-star rating is due to its slight distance from major stations as I traveled by train, but I'll work hard starting tomorrow so that I can visit again next year!

    Thank you for your hospitality.

There was nothing to complain about in terms of hardware. The children's activities were gladly participated in. As for the meals, being an international chain, there were some aspects that were understandable, but overall, they were neither good nor bad. The dinner venue felt cramped overall, so it would be better if there was a bit more space. Overall, I am satisfied. Thank you very much.
