    A Quiet Accommodation for Adults Only

    Both the hospitality and the cuisine were calm and wonderful, and I was truly able to refresh. I will visit again.

    An Accommodation with consistently excellent cuisine and a welcoming atmosphere—perfect for a quiet, relaxing stay.

    It’s not a flashy tourist destination, and it doesn’t have particularly scenic views, but it’s my favorite Accommodation where you can relax and unwind. I’ve visited nearly 10 times so far. The biggest highlight is probably the food. The kaiseki cuisine, served in beautiful tableware, has had a consistently reliable taste for years. Because more Rooms now come with open-air baths, there are three small baths that you can use whenever they’re available. Two of them require going up and down steep stairs, so I wouldn’t recommend them for guests with mobility issues, but they have a wonderful atmosphere. The Onsen water quality is excellent and well regarded. This time I chose a relatively affordable Room, so there was no in-room dining. Still, the Room was clean and prepared so our family could spend quiet time together, so there were no issues. This was my first time visiting by train. If you contact them in advance, they can also provide pick-up and drop-off service. One downside—though I’m not sure if this applies to all Rooms—is that the toilet/bath area in the Room is a unit bath. It’s a bit disappointing given how charming the Room is otherwise. Also, while you can walk around barefoot inside the building, it was disappointing that they no longer provide socks—though perhaps I simply should have asked for them. If possible, I recommend a Multiple Night Stay so you can take it easy—read books, enjoy the Onsen, and take naps during the day. I’d like to visit again.

    Enjoy a traditional kaiseki meal

    The kaiseki cuisine was delicious as expected, and I was very satisfied. It is a small Accommodation, but perhaps because it was a weekday, I didn’t run into other guests in the private reservable bath or in the hallways, which gave it a private feel and made my stay very comfortable. Fine Arita ware pieces were displayed throughout, which will be a treat for those who appreciate them. There are many stairs, so it may be difficult for elderly guests.

    A Relaxing Accommodation

    About three days ago, I changed my itinerary and made a last-minute Reservation here. They picked me up at the station, and we arrived quickly. From the outside it looked like a small Accommodation, but inside it had an intricate layout. After going up the stairs, I was shown to a Room that was surprisingly spacious. From the bedroom there was a living room, an open-air bath right outside the window, and even a dining room—it felt like staying in a private house. The attendant was very pleasant. All of the meals were delicious. The broth had great flavor, the sashimi was fresh, and they served freshly fried tempura piping hot. The only downside was that because the open-air bath is right outside the window and there is a stone wall close by, it stayed dim even during the day. Still, thanks to that I slept soundly until they came to let me know it was time for breakfast.

    This was my second v...

    This was my second visit to Takeo Onsen, and I think the Onsen at this Accommodation is wonderfully silky and exceptional. I also thoroughly enjoyed the private open-air bath. However, the open-air bath in the Room was dimly lit and had many insects, so I ended up bathing nervously. I didn’t have the courage to use the shower room. The amenities and furnishings are impressive, but there were several disappointing points: the washroom felt cramped, an obi had been forgotten, and there were issues around the bed area. The meal portions were too large for our generation, and it was inconvenient that we couldn’t reach anyone at the Accommodation after 9:30 p.m.

    Accommodation with Authentic Kaiseki Cuisine

    Dinner was an authentic kaiseki meal. Each dish felt carefully prepared, and the rice was perfectly cooked with every grain distinct and delicious. Breakfast was Japanese-style, but it also included fresh milk before the meal and yogurt and coffee afterward, making it a varied menu that never felt repetitive. The tableware included Nabeshima-style pieces as well as Takeo ware, both with a lovely texture and character. The ohagi served upon arrival was so good that we took it home to enjoy later, and it was outstanding as well. The bath could be reserved for private use, which made it very relaxing. The water wasn’t too hot, so we could soak at a comfortable pace. The service was also very attentive, making for a truly pleasant one-night stay.

    Wonderful Japanese-style Ryokan

    A charming Ryokan that carefully preserves its historic building, with hallways and Rooms decorated with ceramics by Living National Treasures. Since meals are served in the Room, service sometimes took a little longer. Personally, for in-room dining I would have preferred a low Japanese-style table rather than a dining table to better appreciate the space and atmosphere, but that comes down to preference. The Onsen has three private baths. There is no Reservation system—if one is available, you can use it. I enjoyed different baths at night and again in the morning.

    A Blissful Moment

    We stayed to celebrate my mother’s birthday. We had a hard time choosing an Accommodation, but it turned out to be a truly satisfying stay. Every meal was delicious, and with each dish we found ourselves saying out loud, “This is so good.” We also enjoyed the Onsen in the in-Room bath and the private bath, and were able to warm up and relax at our own pace. Just one thing: it would have been helpful if towels were also prepared in the downstairs Room. My mother was very happy as well, and said that among all the Accommodations she has stayed at so far, Ogiya had the best food. Thank you for such a blissful time.

    Completely satisfied.

    We planned a trip to this Onsen area for its convenience to Huis Ten Bosch and Arita, and it was the perfect choice. My daughter, who accompanied me, praised it as well. Starting with the matcha tea and ohagi upon arrival, every meal was truly delicious. The Onsen's temperature and texture were just to my liking. I searched for reservations to visit again with my husband during Golden Week but found it fully booked. We'll be mindful of the slightly low ceilings and look forward to staying here again!

    Simply breathtaking

    I made a last-minute reservation as I couldn't go to Kagoshima. When I wrote down my check-in time, they were waiting at the entrance and even called me by name! I was already surprised at this point, but upon entering the facility, admiring the decorations, and stepping into the room, I was amazed. After enjoying the meal, I was convinced: "This place is incredible." There was no need to go to Kagoshima. Simply outstanding. I'm grateful to have discovered this Ryokan. It was a wonderful refreshment.

    It was a delightful stay.

    From the moment I stepped through the entrance until checkout, my eyes were delighted throughout. Every glance brought a pleasant surprise. Although I live far away, my grandparents, parents, and now we have all enjoyed staying here. I am deeply grateful to everyone at Ogiya for preserving this beautiful world.

    Blissful Moments

    I experienced the essence of a historic kaiseki accommodation through warm hospitality and beautifully served kaiseki dishes, one by one. Each dish was carefully prepared, and not only was the taste exceptional, but the ceramics used to present them were also exquisite. I was able to enjoy a blissful time in a serene atmosphere. The private bath within the accommodation was also thoroughly enjoyable. I am delighted to have discovered such a memorable accommodation during my first visit to Takeo Onsen. Thank you very much!

    Historic Ryokan

    The entrance has a traditional atmosphere, and the corridor leading to the guest rooms has polished wooden flooring typical of a long-established Ryokan, giving you the feeling of having arrived at a historic Onsen Ryokan. The tea sweets include Ohagi, which are delicious and raise expectations for the meals. The bath is a private system, but there is always one available, so it can be used comfortably. The open-air bath in the room is accessible 24 hours, which is nice. However, as it is a facility in the city, there is no view from the open-air bath. (The source of Takeo Onsen (Takeo Onsen) is not all high-temperature springs. I also went to the original bath, and it was very hot. It's a famous hot spring.) The issue is the structure of the maisonette-type room. You need to lock the door every time you move between the first and second floors, and the structure does not allow movement in room wear (the stairs connecting the first and second floors are fully visible from the corridor and freely accessible). I think there is room for improvement in this structure.

    I have stayed at var...

    I have stayed at various famous luxury ryokans before, but this was the pinnacle. The atmosphere of the building is nice, the bath can be reserved for private use, and all the staff are wonderful. Of course, the food is extremely delicious. I couldn't find anything bad at all. It's far from Chiba, so I'm not sure when I can go next, but it was a property I would like to visit again someday. Thank you very much.

    Wonderful Stays

    I used the Fugetsu Room, and the tranquility of the balcony was very nice. The meals were also served in a private small room, and both the atmosphere and the food were wonderful. When I visit Takeo Onsen again, I would like to stay at Ougiya once more.
