    I’m glad I stayed here.

    This was my first stay, and I had a twin Room on the 9th floor. Right after getting off the elevator, there was a security door; you tap your key card to open it before heading to each Room. I felt it was a reassuring Facility. The Room was clean, there was also a large public bath with a sauna, and the service was excellent. If I stay in Kobe again, I would like to stay here again.

    Convenient location.

    We chose this Hotel among the many options around Sannomiya because my husband has difficulty seeing in dark areas and can’t walk very far, and it was about a 5-minute walk to the restaurant we wanted for dinner. We added Kobe Animal Kingdom tickets, and even then the pricing was reasonable, so we were satisfied. Since we used the parking lot as well, ¥2,500 per night felt like a fair price—not cheap, but not expensive either. Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis, so we checked in around 3:00 p.m. I would have liked to relax and shop a bit more in central Sannomiya, but I ended up rushing.　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　I was drenched in sweat and wanted to use the large public bath, but it opens from 5:00 p.m., so I think it would be better if it were available from around 3:00 p.m.　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　The Room was bright and clean. I think a lighter-colored carpet would be nicer for the floor. The amenity towels were thick Imabari-brand towels and felt great. I didn’t use it, but there was also a ReFa hair dryer provided.　　　　　　　　　　　　　　There are Don Quijote, Starbucks, convenience stores, and more nearby around the Hotel, which is very convenient. From the Hotel to Ikuta Shinmichi there is a fairly steep slope, so older guests or those with mobility issues should take care.

    The breakfast was excellent.

    Everything—the price, location, and service—was excellent. I stayed on a Plan with breakfast, and I was impressed by the breakfast buffet. There were many local dishes, and I was very satisfied. It may look expensive, but I felt the food was worth more than the price. The large public bath got crowded and was a bit difficult to use at times, but overall it wasn’t an issue. I would appreciate it if both the breakfast start time and the bath opening time could be moved 30 minutes earlier.

    It was a wonderful Hotel!

    I chose this Hotel because Reviews said the breakfast was delicious. The Hotel had a wonderful atmosphere, and the Room was clean. They also provided cleansing oil and toner, and the shower had a Mirable, which left my hair and skin feeling great—I was very happy. There was a wide variety of breakfast options, and everything was delicious. I would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

    The moment we entere...

    The moment we entered the Room, my companion’s mother and I looked at each other and frowned at the overwhelming odor. I couldn’t tell whether it was dampness or body odor, but it was so bad that we informed the front desk and asked a staff member to come up and check the Room. However, they didn’t seem to find it bothersome. We were told that the other Rooms had a similar smell, so we were not offered a Room change. If all Rooms smell like that, I think it is a serious issue. I travel 7–8 times a year and stay at various Hotels, but this was my first experience like this. It was supposed to be a special mother-and-daughter trip, but because the Room was unpleasant, we couldn’t relax and checked out early the next morning. It was an uncomfortable 1-night/2-day stay despite paying for it.

    A lovely European-style exterior.

    Conveniently located near Kobe-Sannomiya Station, with Ikuta Shrine nearby, and Nankinmachi (Chinatown) and Meriken Park within walking distance. The exterior resembles a European-style building, and inside the lobby is spacious with high ceilings, creating a relaxed atmosphere. Welcome drinks are available both before and after check-in. The Room is spacious, kept very clean, and mineral drinks are provided. The bathroom is a combined unit bath, but there is also a large public bath. Since it was the Obon holiday period and many guests were staying, the public bath was crowded. Despite the large number of guest rooms, the public bath area is small, with only seven washing stations. You can check crowd levels on the TV, but even when it appeared to be quiet and I went to the public bath, it was still crowded. Breakfast lived up to its reputation: there was a wide variety of options and everything was delicious. I was especially happy that there were many kinds of DONQ bread. I also really enjoyed the desserts. Overall, I was very satisfied except for the bathing facilities.

    Unfortunately.

    I was disappointed due to some problematic service. First, at the front desk during check-in, even though only one staff member was assisting guests, no other staff stepped in to help and I was kept waiting for about five minutes. Next, even when I encountered staff at the Hotel entrance, there was no greeting. Then, when I returned later, a portion of a tour group (around 20 people) occupied the elevators in front of the front desk for about 20 minutes, creating a situation where other guests could not get on. Despite this, there was no response from the Hotel staff. I could not understand why this situation was left unattended. Also regarding breakfast: it is praised as if it were among the best in the group and highly acclaimed by yourselves, but it is an ordinary level that can be found anywhere. It was disappointing because I stayed with high expectations.

    It was really great!

    The Room was spacious, thoroughly cleaned, and pleasantly spotless. It was great to be able to use the large public bath at the Hotel, and I appreciated that the in-room shower was a Mirable—it was a thoughtful touch. The front desk staff were polite, and their smiles were wonderful. Although it was a last-minute stay, I was able to relax comfortably and was very satisfied. Ikuta Shrine is right next door, and it’s close to both Sannomiya Station and Motomachi Station, so I think it’s also ideal for sightseeing in Kobe.

    The breakfast is delicious.

    I’ll stay here again when I visit Kobe—I like this compact Accommodation. Everything at breakfast is delicious, including the bread. Hotel Monterey is also great, with a large public bath and a sauna.

    Excellent access!

    Conveniently located near both Sannomiya Station and Motomachi, with the Kitano Ijinkan district also within walking distance. We took a taxi from Sannomiya Station only on the first day, but after that we were able to get around entirely on foot. The excellent access is highly recommended. The breakfast buffet featured many local ingredients and dishes made with them, which was memorable and delicious. The Room pajamas were also well regarded for their comfort.

    On rainy days, vinyl...

    On rainy days, vinyl umbrellas are placed at the entrance for guests to use, which was very helpful. Since there are only a few elevators, you may not be able to ride for a while when it gets crowded. I often wished there were one more. Even when Hotel rates are soaring, I am generally satisfied with the entire Monterey series.

    Day 1 of a 4-Day Trip to Kobe

    I made a Reservation for this Plan with tickets to the Van Gogh exhibition, as it coincided with my visit to the Luminarie. Before check-in, I left my luggage and picked up the tickets, then headed to the venue, but since it was close to the final day, it was quite crowded. The ticket-included Plan is fun because you can discover something new. I had a satisfying breakfast from the morning. There were so many kinds of bread that I couldn’t choose.

    The location was convenient, relatively close to the station. I wasn’t expecting much, but the breakfast was very delicious. There was a wide variety of dishes, and the menu was thoughtfully prepared. I was very satisfied with the breakfast.

    For Hotels in Kobe, choose Monterey!

    I always stay here when visiting Kobe. This is a valuable Hotel with a quad Room that can accommodate a family of four. Although compact, there is also a large public bath where you can relax and relieve your fatigue. It can get crowded depending on the time, so there may be a wait, but the staff will guide you in order. At the breakfast buffet, you can enjoy DONQ bread and roast beef. I especially recommend the roasted onions—they’re tender, sweet, and delicious. I will definitely stay here again next time. Thank you very much.

    I’d love to use it again!

    This was my first stay, and since it’s near Sannomiya Station there are plenty of places to eat, transportation is convenient, and the location was excellent. I had been looking forward to breakfast after reading the Reviews, and it really was great! My daughter and I said we’d like to stay here again the next time we visit Kobe. 　However, when we returned to the Hotel after dinner, the last admission for the large public bath is 10:30 PM. We went to check in around 10:00 PM, but it was crowded and entry was restricted to ease congestion, so we had to wait. Since bathing ends at 11:00 PM, we barely had time to warm up before having to leave—this part was a bit disappointing. I guess it can’t be helped because that time slot gets busy... 　Still, overall it was really good and it made for a fun trip.

    Just as the Reviews ...

    Just as the Reviews said, we were very satisfied with the breakfast! From the Hotel entrance, it has a retro feel, and the elevator display is cute! All the staff were polite. The Room was also clean. We didn’t use the large public bath and used the bath in our Room instead. The area around the sink felt a bit small, but everything else was very good.

    After attending a co...

    After attending a concert at GLAION ARENA KOBE, I stayed overnight in Kobe for the first time in a while. The Accommodation is conveniently located near Sannomiya Station. The next day, I also visited Ikuta Shrine, about a 5-minute walk away. The breakfast bread and dashi chazuke were delicious. The Room was spacious and I was generally satisfied, but it was disappointing to find several hairs on the floor that were clearly not mine.

    Excellent value for money

    We stayed here for a trip with three friends. It’s very convenient, with classic sightseeing spots such as Ikuta Shrine, the Ijinkan district, and Chinatown all within walking distance. Sannomiya Station is also close, so even after taking a trip out to Akashi and buying souvenirs, we could stop by the Hotel to drop off our bags before heading out again—meaning we didn’t have to sightsee carrying lots of luggage. I also appreciated the free self-service coffee machine near the front desk. The large public bath isn’t very spacious. Mornings are fine, but it seems to get quite crowded at night from around 8 p.m. When my friend went in, they were lucky to get in right away, but by the time they came out, the waiting area was so packed that people waiting their turn couldn’t even find a seat (I’m more of a morning-bath person). The amenities are well stocked, and I especially liked the pajamas. Even though it’s a Hotel, I loved that you can go to the large public bath wearing your pajamas! Considering the location, Facility, and service, I felt it offers outstanding value for money!

    The location suited my needs, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious!

    1. The front desk staff were friendly and professional, with fluent English, and explained everything in detail. You can have parcels delivered to the hotel, and they will be handed to you at check-in. 2. The location was perfect for my needs: turn left from the lobby and Don Quijote is right on the corner; turn right to reach Kitano Ijinkan-Gai; and from the other exit of the B1 parking area you can go straight to a shrine (side entrance). 3. Breakfast was absolutely delicious! The beef, curry, desserts, bread, and coffee were all beautifully prepared. It wasn’t crowded on weekdays, so we could really enjoy it. 4. The special offer was great value! The ¥1,000 per person per night convenience store voucher could be used in full, and for every ¥500 voucher used, the store also gave an extra small gift of your choice (candy, tea, bottled water, etc.). 5. The room looked exactly like the photos on the official website. The bedside lamp had a phone charging dock; the TV was modern with lots of streaming platforms; and even the B1 laundry machines allowed QR-code payment so you don’t have to worry about having enough coins. High-tech details everywhere—yet the elevator on the first floor still has an old-style needle indicator, which was incredibly cool!

    Used for a girls' trip.

    The Room was spacious enough to open a suitcase comfortably. While some noises could be heard, there were no sounds of conversations from neighboring Rooms. The breakfast had a wide variety, was well-stocked, and delicious; we were glad we chose the breakfast-included option. However, when I went to get rice towards the end of service, it was hard and I ended up making ochazuke but couldn't finish it—that was the only disappointment. Still, with its great location, I would love to stay here again.

    The bed was surprisingly spacious! Thanks to that, I slept very well. The breakfast was delicious too. Was it roasted onions? It was tasty. It's close to the station, but it might be a bit tricky to find for first-timers—maybe just me? Once I got there, it wasn't an issue at all. There were plenty of shops near the station, and it was lively. I didn't use the bath, so I'm not sure about that part. Time flew by while I was drinking in the Room—haha! Also, the Room wear (pajamas?) was comfortable and nice to wear. I would love to stay again. Thank you very much!

    Bed bugs? Dust mites?

    After visiting Kobe for the first time in about 20 years, I decided to stay at this Hotel where I stayed back then. The building and Facility showed their age, but since it was just for sleeping, I thought it would be fine. However, when wearing the Hotel Room wear, I felt some itchiness. Upon waking up in the morning, I found many red bumps around my abdomen and back area—possibly caused by mites? I'm not sure. I was absolutely shocked and distressed. Whether it's the bed or the Room wear causing this issue is unclear, but I believe it should be checked and addressed promptly.

    A quiet Hotel with a large public bath

    - Stayed in a twin room for one person. ■ Positive Points - Reserved without specifying a room, but was guided to a twin room on the day, possibly due to availability. The room was spacious and comfortable. - Many staff members were polite and attentive. - Breakfast buffet had a wide variety of options, including local specialties like DONQ bread and Akashiyaki, which was delightful. - The large public bath had staff at the entrance managing locker keys and monitoring the number of guests, preventing overcrowding—a great system. - Nightwear provided was two-piece separates. - Complimentary bottled mineral water in the room was appreciated. ■ Concerns - Some guests were using smartphones or watching videos in the changing area of the public bath regardless of nationality; it would be reassuring if there were signs or notices discouraging such behavior. Despite being close to places like Don Quijote, it was quiet at night and I could relax peacefully. I would definitely choose this accommodation again when staying in this area!

    Sure to return!

    Stayed with my daughter after a live event on the 12th. The exterior was lovely, and everything from the room to the large public bath and breakfast buffet exceeded expectations. We checked in quite tired, but the large public bath, coffee service, and comfortable bed were incredibly relaxing. The breakfast buffet was particularly delightful with Donq bread and a wide variety of fresh salads. Both the price and location were excellent, so we would love to stay here again!

    Family Trip for New Year's

    Due to New Year's traffic restrictions around Ikuta Shrine, I was a bit confused about how to get to the parking lot. However, the Hotel staff were all kind, and I requested a massage which was very well done.

    The Room was excellent, but the dining arrangements were disappointing.

    I stayed at Hotel Monterey Kobe for the first time during my business trip to Kobe, opting for a No Meals Included plan. After making the Reservation, I learned that this hotel is ranked number one in reviews for the Sannomiya area, which raised my expectations. The Room I was assigned was a twin Room with an extra bed on the second floor. While there was nothing particularly wrong with it, the view from the window only showed a back staircase where I could see staff members passing by. As a result, I kept the curtains closed throughout my stay. It would have been better if, during check-in, staff had informed me about any available alternative Rooms or explained in advance about potential limitations of second-floor views to ensure guest satisfaction. That said, the interior of the Room was clean and well-designed with compactly arranged amenities. I especially appreciated that the showerhead featured fine bubble technology as I had wanted to try it. While exploring unfamiliar areas outside of work hours proved challenging when looking for dining options nearby, it might be helpful if Hotel staff provided recommendations or placed information about easily accessible restaurants without Reservations in guest Rooms—especially useful for those on No Meals Included plans. In terms of meals at Hotel facilities themselves: although breakfast wasn’t included (I grabbed something light from a convenience store within walking distance), lunch options seemed limited upon returning later; only high-priced Christmas course menus were available—not ideal nor accommodating towards solo diners like myself under such circumstances despite understanding possible staffing shortages or operational constraints behind decisions made internally by management teams running operations here overall still left wanting more customer-first approaches taken instead hopefully addressed next time around!
