    Fun even on rainy days.

    Although the weather wasn’t on our side, we still had a wonderful time thanks to how amazing RISONARE Kohamajima is. Thanks to your help with both our arrival and departure, everything went smoothly. We had seconds of paella for dinner and French toast for breakfast. The meals truly reflected the local character, and we were very satisfied. We took several walks from our Room to the beach. In the evening, we came across a group of peacocks, and at night the road was dark—but because there were no surrounding lights, the stars were beautiful. We also found glowing insects by the roadside; later, a staff member told us they were flightless fireflies. It became a very special memory. This time we could only do a few activities due to time constraints, but we’ll try more next time! When we arrived in bad weather, we felt disappointed, but by departure day we found ourselves saying on the way home, “There were so many wonderful people.” We owe this lovely experience to all of your staff—thank you very much.

    RISONARE to Enjoy Even on Rainy Days

    During our one-night, two-day stay, it rained on the day we arrived, but thanks to the Shuttle Service by bus we were able to get there smoothly.\nBefore check-in, we also enjoyed the on-site café and activities such as making shisa statues, and had a truly wonderful time.\nThe staff were cheerful and courteous, which made us feel very comfortable.\nBoth dinner and breakfast were buffet-style with a wide variety of options, and we were very satisfied.\nThe brown sugar French toast at breakfast was especially outstanding.\nWe would definitely like to stay at this Accommodation again.\nThank you very much!

    It was great.

    Stayed during the day a typhoon passed directly overhead. It was overcast and rainy, but there were plenty of activities, so we still had a great time! Next time, I’d like to try golfing!

    Our First Stay at RISONARE!

    This was my first time staying at Hoshino Resorts RISONARE Kohamajima. All of the on-site staff were extremely kind, and I was very impressed by their hospitality. I also truly appreciated the Shuttle Service to my next Accommodation after check-out. The dinner buffet was delicious and satisfying, but I had expected the mango tart dessert to be made with “Okinawa-grown apple mango.” When I asked about the origins of the ingredients, I was told that they could not disclose details. The only concern during my stay was the beach supervision. The lifeguard appeared to be using a smartphone throughout their shift and not properly watching the water. While many staff members were very helpful, I felt that this safety management—where lives are at stake—was potentially inadequate.

    Third stay

    This was my third stay and a four-night Multiple Night Stay, but I was disappointed that breakfast was the same menu every morning. Also, with uncertainty about whether a typhoon would arrive, I was very anxious about whether to leave early or not, and I was disappointed by the indifferent response. At check-out, there was also a billing error, yet no senior staff member apologized and there was no send-off, which left me feeling upset at the end.

    Okinawa is my favori...

    Okinawa is my favorite place, and I love staying at various Resort Hotels. I have also stayed at Hoshino Resorts hotels on Taketomi Island and Iriomote Island, so I had been wanting to visit Kohama Island as well. What prompted me to choose this stay was a great-value Plan celebrating the buffet renewal. It was my first time here, and what impressed me most was how kind the staff were. When we used the cart service, they even joined in our casual conversation, and it was fun hearing all kinds of stories. We reserved our dinner time in advance, and the venue wasn’t crowded; each dish was delicious, and we truly enjoyed both dinner and breakfast. The landscaping was also beautifully maintained, and the island’s flowers—such as bougainvillea—were very soothing. Although it was only one night, there were evening events as well, with thoughtful touches throughout that made for a comfortable and enjoyable trip. Thank you very much.

    Relax and unwind on island time

    This was my second visit to Kohama Island! I stayed at a different Hotel last time, so this was my first stay here. The villa-style Room let me relax and unwind, and being able to spend a leisurely time by the sea made for a truly meaningful escape from everyday life. There were some insects in the Room, but I felt that was part of the charm of staying at a Hotel surrounded by nature (lol). This time, since it was a Plan with dinner included for posting a Review, I had high expectations for dinner... However, there weren’t that many dishes, and it was disappointing that there wasn’t anywhere to have a late-night snack. As an Accommodation where you can switch off from daily life, I thought it would be nice if there were somewhere on-site to get dessert or light snacks at night without having to go all the way to a convenience store.

    Cleaning…

    This is my second stay. I really love the relaxed atmosphere of Kohama Island. All Rooms are suites and very spacious, so you can relax comfortably, but what concerns me is that the cleaning is not thorough. I noticed dust on the window frames, sashes, and locks, as well as along the edges of the floor behind the bed. I think a more careful cleaning would make the stay much more comfortable. Since it’s an older building, keeping it cleaner would allow guests to enjoy an even more pleasant resort experience. I hope improvements will be made so we can have an even better time.

    All the staff were kind, and we were very satisfied!

    Overall, it was a very satisfying stay. The Room was spacious and comfortable, and the staff were extremely courteous, which made our time there very pleasant. We also loved being able to enjoy the pool in a nature-filled setting and fully relax in a true resort atmosphere. It was also great that there were activities available even on rainy days, such as making Shisa. Being able to use a second Room before check-in and after check-out was very convenient, allowing us to relax until our ferry departure. We also appreciated the complimentary ice cream and coffee service. The buffet meals included main dishes as well, and everything tasted great. However, for a Multiple Night Stay, we enjoyed it thoroughly through the second day, but by the third day there were fewer menu changes and it started to feel a bit repetitive. Since there is basically only one place to have lunch on-site, having more options would make longer stays even more enjoyable. Also, during our stay the Wi-Fi connection was unstable; several times it disconnected and was difficult to reconnect. Improving this would make the stay even more comfortable. One more point: when we made a Reservation through IKYU, our 5-year-old child’s meals required an additional charge separate from the Accommodation Fee. This was somewhat unclear at the time of booking, so clearer information about eligible ages and extra charges would make guests feel more confident when making a Reservation. Although there were a few concerns, they were outweighed by the wonderful staff service, Facility quality, and beautiful natural surroundings—we had an amazing time as a family. Overall we were very satisfied, and it is a Hotel we would gladly choose again when visiting Kohama Island.

    Honestly, there was ...

    Honestly, there was a slight gap between the impression from the photos and the actual Hotel. The Room didn’t feel very well cleaned, and overall it felt dated and darker than in the photos. The food wasn’t bad, but during our two-night stay it was almost the same both nights, and it felt like there weren’t many options. For a Multiple Night Stay, I’d appreciate a bit more variety in the menu. Since it’s an island, convenience stores are far away, and there are limited places inside the Hotel to buy drinks or snacks. You can buy drinks from vending machines, but I recommend purchasing snacks or light bites before coming to the island. On the other hand, the sea was very beautiful. It was great that life jackets and marine shoes were available to borrow for free—I didn’t have to bring my own, which really helped. The staff were cheerful and pleasant. Because both the ocean and staff service were so good, I think this could be an even more comfortable Hotel if improvements were made to the guest Rooms and meals.

    The most relaxing stay!

    This was my first stay on Kohama Island, and it was extremely comfortable. I believe this was thanks to the staff’s local knowledge and attentive service. The Room was clean and had a relaxing atmosphere. For both breakfast and dinner, I was able to enjoy the buffet without waiting. The Shuttle Service to the beach and back to the Room was smooth and stress-free, with outstanding hospitality! The pool right next to the beach is fantastic! This is a Hotel I would definitely like to stay at again when I visit Kohama Island!

    Enjoy a unique experience only available on a remote island.

    We stayed here as a family during our children’s summer vacation. It was our first time visiting one of Okinawa’s remote islands, and the warm hospitality from all the staff made us feel truly glad we made the trip. The sun is strong, but the temperature was around 31°C, and it feels pleasantly cool at night. You can book optional activities such as snorkeling, stargazing walks, a sunset cart ride, and mangrove exploration—unique nature experiences on Kohama Island that made our kids very happy. The buffet has been renewed and was delicious; the “umukuji tempura” was especially popular with our children. We would love to come back again to relax and enjoy another warm, unhurried stay.

    I had a relaxing stay.

    Overall, I had a very relaxing stay. The Hotel staff were especially wonderful. I would definitely like to visit again. Pros 　・Staff service: Friendly and quick to help whenever I needed it—very comfortable 　・Atmosphere: The Facility and the island have a great vibe, and it feels different (in a good way) from the resorts on Okinawa Main Island or Ishigaki Island 　・Not too large in scale, so it never felt overcrowded Could be improved 　・The Room Facilities are old; even small repairs would be appreciated 　・Basic cleaning of the Room was perfectly fine, but there is still room for improvement in details such as the ventilation fan, corners/edges, and exterior walls 　・Meals in the Hotel are the same each time, so for longer stays you may get tired of them

    So natural!

    Although it was the rainy season, we had clear weather and enjoyed two comfortable days. The nights are especially beautiful—there are no streetlights, so the starry sky is truly stunning. Perhaps because of the season, there were few people, and the Shuttle Service cart picked us up quickly, allowing us to relax and take our time. There are many free rentals as well, which was a nice bonus.

    Very family-friendly and welcoming to guests with children.

    The property feels a bit dated, but the Room was very clean and practical. Having a separate bedroom meant we didn’t have to sit in complete darkness after our child fell asleep (lol). The daybed was also perfect as a play space. They provided cute kids’ items like toys, a step stool, and pajamas—perfect even for my 100 cm son. The rental aloha shirt was adorable too! The beach is a bit far, but the Shuttle Service by cart made it feel convenient. The pool also had life jackets in small sizes. The sea at the beach wasn’t very clear, so it felt more for viewing than swimming. The only inconvenience was dining. For both breakfast and dinner, the only options were the buffet or takeout from it. To eat outside the resort, you need to make a Reservation at an izakaya with Shuttle Service included, so if you join activities it can be hard to stay flexible—this might be challenging with small children. There’s a cafe for light meals during the day, but I wish they offered takeout from there at night as well, or even light Room service—it would have been really helpful. Overall, it was a very satisfying stay and truly family-friendly. Next time I’d like to Reserve early and aim for a Room with a private pool!

    Thanks to the kind and caring staff, I had a wonderful time.

    Our first trip to Kohama Island, and we chose this Hotel because my wife had always wanted to stay at Risonare. The result was complete satisfaction. We were blessed with great weather, a crystal-clear sea, and a beautiful starry sky that cannot be fully captured in photos. The warm hospitality of the staff allowed us to enjoy a relaxing stay. As mentioned in other Reviews, the dining options within the Hotel might not be entirely satisfying for some guests. However, we enjoyed lunch at the on-site book café and made a Reservation for dinner at an island izakaya, which left us personally satisfied. We would love to visit again—thank you!

    An exceptional resort experience.

    I visited once before and this time I brought my elderly parents. It turned out to be a very satisfying stay. You can fully enjoy the charm of Okinawa's remote islands with the sea, pool, and various activities. The staff are all highly professional, kind, and attentive. I can confidently recommend this place as a safe and enjoyable destination. On a minor note, I noticed a few things: "small insects like ants in the room," "the restaurant menu remains the same despite being a place for multiple night stays," and "the website for reservations and meal bookings is not user-friendly." Even with these points, it is still a highly satisfying stay. If you don't mind the journey involving a plane, bus, and ferry, I highly recommend visiting at least once.

    Unfortunately.

    Stayed for 3 nights. I visited about 10 years ago, and this was my second stay, but I will not be returning. The Hotel has completely changed from what it used to be. - At check-in, I was unpleasantly asked about the return bus schedule right after arriving. - Amenities must be picked up at the front desk by yourself, which felt cheap and comparable to or worse than a Business Hotel. - Few activities available within the Hotel. The pool depth is 150cm, which is deep even for adults. - No guidance provided about the Facility; everything had to be looked up on a smartphone, which was inconvenient. - Food was unappetizing. The signature brown sugar French toast at breakfast was undercooked. The glass used for iced coffee smelled of disinfectant and was undrinkable. Previously there were options other than buffets, and the food tasted much better. - Room was old with poor cleaning standards. Hair strands were found on the bed. Sand had accumulated in room corners. There were cobwebs near the ceiling in the bedroom and many ants in the bathroom. While there were some good points like bath salt service and Tingaara hammocks, they were overshadowed by numerous disappointments. The island's people are warm-hearted, and both the sea and night sky are beautiful—such a wonderful environment feels wasted here.

    We stayed at Hoshino Resorts for the first time to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The staff were kind and attentive, which was wonderful. Of course, the Facility and meals were excellent as well.

    I think it's a lovely place, but...

    The local staff were generally kind, and the resort itself was lovely. However, I would like to mention some disappointing points. - Depending on the Room, the bathroom had a sewer-like smell. The odor spread to other Rooms, so it is recommended to keep the door closed. - During transportation from check-in to the Room, a large suitcase was dropped from the cart. Mistakes can happen as we are all human, but the response afterward felt slow. The inspection after dropping it was cursory and dismissed as minor damage; however, one of the wheels was broken off completely, making it unusable. Although I stayed for two nights, no resolution or follow-up has been provided yet. A replacement suitcase was given for minimal use during my stay but returning it required shipping at my own expense after use. This left me feeling frustrated as if my time and effort were not being considered. I hope measures will be taken in the future to prevent luggage from falling off carts used for transport. Hoshino Resorts is a large company with many procedures in place; however, I hope they will also consider how their guests feel when visiting their resorts.

    Family trip with elementary school children, 3 nights and 4 days

    Thank you for a wonderful stay. It was our first time staying at Risonare, although we visit Kohama Island with our family every year. Since the jacuzzi is outdoors, during a Multiple Night Stay, leaves and sand tend to accumulate. It would be great if there were sponges available for self-cleaning; I ended up cleaning it by hand. The beach is a bit far, but adults enjoyed using electric kickboards while children used regular kickboards to get there. However, after playing extensively in the sea and pool, returning on regular kickboards was tough for the kids. From the second day onward, they used the shuttle bus service instead and had fun chatting with the driver about insects and birds they spotted along the way. I always look forward to morning walks on the beach each year. Although I knew from an email that shuttle buses operate from 9:00 AM to 9:10 PM, I considered walking early in the morning before sunrise but found it too dark and scary due to limited streetlights. On our last day, determined to see Kohama's sunrise at the beach one more time, I left my Room in complete darkness only to spot lights from a shuttle bus near reception! To my surprise, there was a 5:30 AM departure for the beach! Thanks to this unexpected discovery on our final day, we fully enjoyed Kohama’s beautiful morning at its best! However—it would have been nice if this information had been shared earlier. I also learned that carts are available outside of standard shuttle hours; clearer details about specific times (e.g., early mornings or late nights) when cart Shuttle Service is possible would make it easier not having hesitation asking staff assistance. Breakfast could use more side dishes suitable with plain rice options—this addition might enhance dining experiences further! One challenge traveling as families involved limited snack/light meal availability within shops onsite—having such items accessible could improve convenience significantly especially during longer stays involving children guests alike! We initially struggled locating towel rentals near beaches upon arrival yet eventually figured out where services operated properly later into stay duration itself similarly discovering swimsuit dryers located Lagoon Pool area only second-day usage timeframe overall despite their incredible usefulness functionality-wise once known beforehand already existing facilities present themselves better communicated upfront directly towards Rooms beforehand ideally speaking altogether avoiding confusion entirely altogether instead proactively addressing guest needs expectations seamlessly throughout entire resort experience holistically optimized accordingly thereafter moving forward positively enhancing future visitor satisfaction levels exponentially beyond current standards achieved     This was my first stay. The room has a slightly older design and differs from the modern beach resort style, but it was thoroughly cleaned and there were no issues at all. However, I think attention should be given to cleaning the terrace and addressing what seemed to be bird droppings on the entrance railing. Meals were served buffet-style for both dinner and breakfast, with a sufficient variety of dishes that suited my taste. The mango pie was particularly delightful. I appreciate the approach of offering distinctive, delicious dishes presented beautifully rather than simply increasing the number of options. The staff were friendly and left a positive impression. After checking out, I left my luggage at the front desk while enjoying time at the beach. Being able to use the shower facilities in the spa building before leaving was incredibly helpful—I wouldn’t want to board a ferry covered in saltwater! I would love to stay here again if given another opportunity.

    Elegant Resort Hotel on a Small Island

    This was my first visit to Kohama Island, and I stayed at Risonare Kohama. The room was a spacious unit divided into two rooms per building, featuring a bedroom, living room, nap room(?), bathroom with sauna and wash area, and a veranda with a jacuzzi. In front of the room was a pond, allowing for a relaxing stay surrounded by nature. The buffet restaurant was also very delicious and highly satisfying. Although this trip was just one night as part of a quick getaway, I would love to stay longer next time!

    Due to renovations at another resort, we stayed at Risonare Kohamajima, but comparing the prices, it’s not ideal. The menu for lunch or light snacks is too limited. We appreciated the free use of marine shoes, float rings, and kickboards. The sunrise stretch session was also enjoyable.

    It was the worst Hotel.

    The room was dirty and worn out, making it uncomfortable to stay in any area such as the chair, relaxation space, or bedroom. The floor was so dirty that I didn’t want to touch it. The relaxation space had hair, cobwebs, and dust, making it uninviting. In the bedroom, there was a thick layer of dust on the bedside table and bed frame above the pillow that seemed like it hadn’t been cleaned for weeks. When I called for cleaning service, they said they would come but didn’t show up even after an hour. Upon calling again, they promised to come immediately but by then it was already 10 PM. We declined their offer and ended up cleaning ourselves. One of the joys of traveling is relaxing at night with snacks and drinks while watching TV leisurely; however, waiting for staff and cleaning ruined our entire evening. It felt unclear what we were paying for. Although I considered requesting a different room or even expecting an upgrade due to the condition of this one, I refrained because I didn’t want them to think we were asking just for an upgrade. The living room curtains were torn; the bathroom mirror was peeling off; in the bathroom itself—the bathtub’s paint had peeled off—there were numerous dead flies around it while shower tiles looked too filthy to step on barefooted. They offered bath salts at reception but using that bathtub seemed unimaginable. Throughout all areas of this accommodation gave off a love hotel vibe rather than anything remotely luxurious or comfortable. The futon felt damp with excessive humidity; there appeared to be many mites as my left arm got bitten five times during sleep attempts despite turning on air conditioning which smelled moldy forcing us eventually turn off due discomfort caused by odor leading sleepless hot nights instead! Balcony overlooking pond wasn’t usable either being excessively dirty preventing sitting enjoyment outdoors comfortably either!     All 5 stars! As expected from Hoshino Resorts.

    A dream stay at Hoshino Resorts. After visiting Kai Tsugaru, we stayed for two nights at "Risonare Kohamajima" at the end of February. Unfortunately, we couldn't swim as the official beach opening was on March 1st, but that couldn't be helped. We spent our days gazing at the stunning Kohama Blue and were captivated by the vibrant blues of both the sky and sea. It was a truly wonderful experience celebrating my parents' golden wedding anniversary with our family, who all agreed, "Let's come back again." The buffet meals for dinner and breakfast were vegetable-focused, with highlights being the tempura of Gurukun fish and black sugar soft serve ice cream (available during both dinner and breakfast). The coffee experience at Books & CAFE was also enjoyable. Having visited many overseas beach resorts before, "Risonare Kohamajima" stood out as our favorite. The beauty of the beach during daytime and stargazing under clear night skies were unforgettable. The stars appeared large and close; seeing Scorpius, Crux (Southern Cross), and Orion together was breathtaking. We will definitely return! The hospitality was warm and pleasant throughout our three relaxing days in Okinawa's laid-back atmosphere. Thank you for creating such wonderful memories for us. For the first time ever, I am giving an all-5 rating!

    For a family trip

    A relaxing three-day, two-night getaway. The Facility is certainly a bit dated, but you can still enjoy the warmth of the staff, Kohama Island’s wonderful climate, and a special sense of escape. I’ve seen some harsh Reviews, but it’s an Accommodation I truly love.

    The Room was fairly expensive, but perhaps because operations are being run with the minimum number of staff, there were too many issues that stood out. The following is part of what I noted as a personal record. I also received a post-stay survey email and replied, but not getting any response at all is unacceptable. - Having guests fill out the check-in form on the Shuttle Service where there are no tables is not appropriate. Since everyone cannot check in at once anyway, you should simply have guests complete it after arrival. - The Room slippers are flimsy disposable ones—the cheapest type you find at a Business Hotel. The Room itself feels like a proper Resort Hotel, so they don’t match and it was disappointing. - There are no sandals for the balcony. Are guests supposed to go out barefoot? - There is a daybed, but nothing to cover yourself with. You would normally expect something like a light blanket. - The toilet bidet function was not working properly. This suggests poor maintenance. - There is only one restaurant, and both breakfast and dinner are buffet only. It’s noisy and not an atmosphere where you can relax with a drink. On top of that, the food is exactly the same every day, so it’s not suitable for a Multiple Night Stay—this feels like a serious issue. - In restaurant service, staff try to clear plates while you’re still eating as soon as they start to look empty. Touching plates or bowls before even asking “May I clear this?” is extremely rude and unhygienic. - There is almost no shop. There’s only a small corner next to the front desk, and it doesn’t offer much. - The paths are dark. The standalone cottages are spread out, but it’s especially dark near them and feels unsafe. - During my Multiple Night Stay, housekeeping came around 4:00 PM. That’s far too late. All staff members were friendly and smiled when interacting with guests, but the basic level of service isn’t there. The good points were the outdoor jacuzzi and the daybed.

    This is terrible. At first, I laughed, but in the end, it turned into anger. Since it has the name Hoshino Resort, I had certain expectations when staying. It's not a rating of 1, but a negative. I planned to stay for two nights, but within 30 minutes of entering the room, I booked another property due to the situation. I ended up wasting one night's stay, but I didn't want to spend my precious vacation in such a place. If there were no time restrictions on moving to Ishigaki, I would have moved to another property without staying even one night. - First, check-in was conducted at the restaurant's cash register. While standing. - Amenities distributed at the front desk seemed like items sold at a 100-yen shop. - Welcome drinks were self-served in paper cups. - There was mold near the ceiling on the room's wall, possibly from a leak. - The room was old and poorly constructed, allowing noise from the next room and upstairs to be heard. - The main dining dinner was buffet-style, with plastic trays and plates. It was at a level where even a business hotel's breakfast would be more enjoyable, costing 6,000 yen. - The spa lacked any sense of luxury or atmosphere. It felt like a city massage parlor, costing over 20,000 yen. - The final straw was being taken to the room by cart, with the room number carefully confirmed, only to be dropped off in front of a different room in the dark. I shouted after turning around, but the guide did not stop and drove away, and the guests on the following cart looked back but did not stop and drove away. What kind of service is it to send someone in the dark by cart without ensuring they enter the room? There is not a shred of hospitality. I question whether IKYU should list this hotel. It was my first time using a Hoshino Resort, but I understood it as a cheap hotel chain. This was the most unpleasant hotel stay I've ever had. I will never use Hoshino again. There are no points I can recommend to those accustomed to staying at good hotels. I spoke with the person in charge about this matter, and they ultimately said that the line is different from other Hoshino properties. However, if they are at least claiming to be part of the group, shouldn't they have a certain level of pride and quality responsibility? I felt disgusted with the management of Hoshino, which approved this quality. I will never stay at a Hoshino group property again. Mr. Hoshino, before talking about various things, please reconsider the way your business operates.

    Golf Trip

    In the morning, it was summer heat, and from night to the next morning, there was a storm and rough weather, but I was able to spend my time comfortably. Due to the bad weather, I couldn't do any activities other than golf. It's a pity because the stars would have been beautiful if it had been clear.
