    The Perfect Honeymoon

We stayed at Chalet Ivy Jozankei for our honeymoon. When we arrived, we were a little surprised by the steep downhill slope, but a staff member quickly came over and helped carry our luggage, which was a huge help. The mango tea served at check-in was delicious, and we felt warmly welcomed. All of the staff were kind and attentive, and together with the calm atmosphere throughout the Hotel, it made for a truly relaxing stay both physically and mentally. The lounge had a wonderful view, and since it was relatively quiet, we were able to enjoy window seats many times. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent and very satisfying. We used the bath in our Room about four or five times, and the public bath was often quiet as well, so we could take our time enjoying a relaxing soak on our own. Even after check-out, they drove us to the bus stop, and we were impressed by their thoughtful service down to every detail. Thanks to the heartfelt hospitality of the staff and the comfortable Facility environment, it was an exceptionally fulfilling stay. We would love to stay again.

It wasn’t good value for money.

I visited with high expectations after seeing many positive reviews on YouTube and elsewhere. Overall, it was certainly a high-quality Accommodation, but there were shortcomings in the service and hospitality. Considering we paid over JPY 350,000 for two people, I did not feel it was worth the price. In bullet points: - Unlimited soft drinks in the lounge is nice, but in the Room there was only water. At this price point, it was my first time staying somewhere without complimentary drinks in the in-room refrigerator. - Although we had a Multiple Night Stay, there were times when we were not asked about our next meal time and had to proactively tell staff ourselves. It made us uneasy. - Even though I mentioned my IKYU Diamond benefits at check-in, the wrong item was delivered. - On the second night of our Multiple Night Stay at dinner: although we arrived first, the dining room was hot. The air conditioning wasn’t on until after we sat down, so we ended up eating while sweating. - The meals offered variety (seafood, meat, etc.) and may have been carefully prepared to highlight ingredients, but everything was overly lightly seasoned with little complexity of flavor. Worse still, during our Multiple Night Stay we were served almost the same ingredients again with only minor changes in preparation—it felt repetitive. - The private open-air bath in the guest room is decent; however, it is semi-open-air and only one side of the window opens, so there is no breeze. It wasn’t very refreshing. - Even so, many guests want to use an in-room open-air bath multiple times—but there was only one set of towels per person in the Room. There was also no towel rack or towel warmer; we had no choice but to hang towels on the bathroom door. - The public bath feels full with just three people and has no view—despite this being something many Japanese guests look forward to most. - The lounge itself was good, with a wide selection of snacks. - What bothered me most this time was guest behavior/manners (not necessarily something caused by the Accommodation). While families with children are fine overall, some guests took entire trays of snacks from the lounge without being corrected by their parents—seemingly several Chinese groups in a row did this. - Unfortunately some Japanese guests behaved similarly as well; a group of women around their 50s did exactly that too. - Manners were also poor at times in the public bath area as well. - This is my first experience seeing such poor manners at this price level (normally higher prices come with better etiquette). - Alcohol being available in the lounge is appreciated; however there was wine/plum wine/sake but no beer—and these required a deposit payment with limits imposed as well. For this price range it felt unnecessarily stingy. Overall, I found it to be rough and inattentive service that does not feel tailored for Japanese guests despite being located here. Unfortunately I do not think I will return again."""

    The Hokkaido wine was excellent.

Dinner paired with local Hokkaido wines was delicious. The wine selection was impressive—I was amazed at how perfectly a professional pairing matched the dishes. I’ve been to many restaurants around the world, and the wine pairing here is truly outstanding. The rich wine at the end was also excellent. Next time, I’d like to return in winter when temperatures are lower. Another favorite Hotel added to my list!

Truly impressed by the outstanding hospitality!

We stayed to celebrate my mother’s 77th birthday. When our 1-year-old fell asleep during the meal, the staff kindly brought us a baby bed, saying, “Please feel free to use this so you can enjoy your meal at a relaxed pace.” There were a few unexpected situations as well, but each time everyone responded with genuine kindness. Also, the in-Room bath has glass walls all around, so we could keep an eye on things from the Room, allowing both the children and adults to relax with peace of mind. The sweets in the lounge were delicious, and there was a great selection of drinks. The meals were excellent too—especially the white rice at breakfast the next morning, which truly impressed us. Thank you so much!!

    Unfortunately.

It was disappointing to be asked at the start of check-in, “Do you understand Japanese?”

We stayed here on a ...

We stayed here on a trip with my father and my daughter’s family. The meals were delicious, and we were very satisfied with the Facility amenities and equipment. Before we knew it, relaxing at the Hotel became our main purpose rather than sightseeing. Above all, all the staff were very kind and treated our two-year-old daughter warmly as well, which we truly appreciated. Our daughter says she wants to come again, so we would definitely like to stay here when we travel to Hokkaido.

    Stylish Accommodation

Stayed for 4 nights and 5 days in September, using this accommodation on the third night. Located in Jozankei Onsen, known as Sapporo's hidden retreat, this relatively new accommodation is situated slightly off the main road. Upon arrival, staff smoothly guided us to check-in. After completing check-in and heading to the room, I greeted someone who seemed like the hostess with "Thank you for having us," but there was no response—perhaps she wasn’t the hostess? The room’s bath offers a view of Toyohira River; however, due to security reasons, the glass window only opens a few centimeters, giving it an almost indoor observation bath feel. Dinner was a creative Japanese-style kaiseki meal that was absolutely delicious. Breakfast was also hearty and very satisfying. We stayed at Chalet Ivy Jozankei this time and were impressed by its excellent location and refined staff who provided outstanding service. They even promptly assisted with shipping our luggage from the accommodation. However, one thing caught my attention—the hairdryer provided in the room was "SALONIA," which surprised me a bit. Considering that this is a luxury-oriented accommodation, perhaps providing something like "ReFa" would be more fitting?

It was the best wedding anniversary.

In addition to the impeccably clean Facility, the staff's perfect sense of distance allowed us to enjoy an unforgettable wedding anniversary. Thank you for your thoughtful gestures, such as the local sparkling wine for a toast and the dessert plate. We thoroughly enjoyed the dishes that highlighted the quality of their ingredients.

    A renowned Hotel in Jozankei

This time I stayed on B1, but next time I would like to stay on the 3rd floor. The lounge was open and unique in style. The meals were delicious, but I wished there had been more emphasis on Hokkaido's local cuisine. It was a wonderful hotel.

It seems to be still unknown.

I stayed here after hearing great reviews. The staff and meals are comparable to high-end Ryokans in Hakone. The staff speaks English, so no worries there. The free drinks in the fridge were satisfying. While the breakfast seaweed was a bit disappointing, it's a common issue with international hotels. The room was of standard luxury quality, nothing particularly surprising. What did surprise me were the plastic toothbrushes and razors among the amenities—most modern luxury hotels use wooden ones nowadays. For example, high-end Ryokans at Tokachigawa Onsen naturally provide wooden ones!

The response to issues was not satisfactory. I believe friendliness is essential in the hospitality industry.

    Good

The staff's service was excellent from start to finish. However, one thing that bothered me was during dinner when a younger female staff member took away the first dish without checking, possibly because my companion had already finished eating while I was eating slowly. This made me feel rushed and unable to enjoy my meal at a relaxed pace. Other than this, the rest of the staff were wonderful, so this part was disappointing. I had high expectations for quality similar to Aman when I made the Reservation, so it was unfortunate. If this improves in the future, I would like to return.

    A wonderful accommodation.

I stayed for a multiple night stay with dinner and breakfast included. The staff's hospitality was pleasant, courteous, and elegant, making the stay very comfortable. The facility was impeccably clean throughout. The 24-hour lounge offered drinks and snacks, providing a relaxing environment. Upon arrival, welcome drinks were served, and the room had complimentary snacks and fruits prepared. Drinks in the refrigerator such as beer and sparkling water were also free to enjoy—a truly exceptional service. Additionally, during the stay, each guest could enjoy ¥1,000 worth of wine/plum wine/sake as part of the welcome drink offering. Regarding meals, both dinner and breakfast were Japanese courses that were absolutely delicious. The ingredients, seasoning, and presentation were all top-notch; we thoroughly enjoyed every bite. Dinner menus differed on both nights so there was no issue even with a multiple night stay. On the first morning when we had to leave early, we consulted in advance and they kindly prepared a bento box for us—it was very tasty. The only minor downside was that there wasn’t a cold bath in the large public bath area; however, both the sauna and onsen were incredibly enjoyable to use. Towels are provided at the public bath area so you can visit empty-handed without any inconvenience. Considering all other excellent services provided by this accommodation facility though—this is an extremely trivial issue. I usually don’t write reviews often but my experience at Chalet Ivy Jozankei was truly outstanding—it became one of my most cherished memories which compelled me to share this review. This is undoubtedly one of the best accommodations I have ever stayed at!

I was able to relax very much.

Quiet, calm, and well-located. The hill is a bit tough, but the proximity to the river offers a nice view. The food is also delicious. It's surprising that not only the washroom but also the entire bathroom has underfloor heating. However, it was too hot.

It was a very nice Stays.

This was my first stay in Jozankei, and I chose this Property. I was very satisfied with the service, Facility, and food. I was a bit anxious as I was traveling with an infant, but they responded appropriately, allowing us to have a comfortable stay, for which I am grateful.

    It was good, but...

The staff's hospitality and service were outstanding. ...However, there was one instance where my wife fell ill, and only one staff member's response was disappointing as they seemed puzzled. The other staff members were excellent, so we plan to return and recommend it to our friends.

    A Journey of Emotions!

We stayed in two rooms with my parents and our family of five. The communication regarding meals after the reservation was truly impressive. There were specific requests due to allergies and health conditions for everyone except me, but all requests were accommodated, and the menu was changed to the complete satisfaction of the entire family. We arrived early, but they accommodated an early check-in. The lounge was spacious and relaxing, with a wide variety of free drinks and food that could be enjoyed by both children and adults, making it very fulfilling. The onsen in the room was, of course, excellent, as were the large public bath and the open-air bath. My husband, who is not fond of large public baths, was very satisfied as it happened to be a time with few people, allowing him to use it privately. The room and amenities showed thoughtful attention to detail. Just one thing, it would have been nice to have a small trash can around the refrigerator, as we seemed to have more trash from tea and such than in the bedroom. The staff, including the manager, were very courteous, with wonderful smiles, allowing us to enjoy our stay throughout. It was a wonderful property in every aspect. We look forward to the day we can visit again. We sincerely thank the manager for the courteous service until the end.

    It was excellent.

I was looking for a nearby Stays to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday, but a YouTuber I usually refer to for Stays selection highly praised this Property, so I decided on it despite the distance. It's a small luxury Hotel with only 26 Rooms, but it has a Ryokan-like atmosphere, and I appreciated being able to wear a yukata after meals and Onsen without having to change clothes. I reserved the deluxe corner suite that was recommended by that person, and it was a great choice. The windows are large, and the view is amazing. Enjoying the Onsen while gazing at that view was the ultimate luxury. I wanted to experience something extraordinary in the wonderful Room, so I didn't turn on the TV at all and just played my favorite music. The meals were just the right amount and very delicious. Even if the Facility is excellent, it's really disappointing if the food isn't great, but this time I was very satisfied. I am very grateful to the staff for their consideration for the 60th birthday celebration. The distance is a drawback, but it was a Property that I would definitely like to stay at again.
