    Far better than the West

    The complimentary drinks in the lobby lounge, the Room, the Onsen, the parking service, and access to the shopping mall were all excellent.

    A Reliable, Classic Hotel

    Many Hotels have been trying various innovations lately, but it was comforting to stay at a classic, traditional Hotel again after a long time. I look forward to staying with you again next month.

    Great location.

    We stayed here for a family trip. The lobby is spacious and comfortable, but the layout between the closet and washbasin area in the Room is poor, and the doors kept bumping into each other whenever we passed through, which was unpleasant. The shuttle bus that circulates within the resort is convenient. The Japanese female staff member at the front desk was very polite. We had dinner at the buffet, but compared to our previous visit, the quality had dropped significantly and it didn’t feel as impressive as before. It’s very convenient for going to the outlet mall and taking kids to Kids Challenge.

    Summer resort

    Thank you for the convenient location for shopping and strolling, and for the staff’s courteous service. We also really enjoyed taking our time over our meal at the restaurant. If we have the chance to visit again, we would love to stay here again.

    Lots of wonderful memories

    We stayed at Karuizawa Prince Hotel East, where we used to come skiing when our children were little, to celebrate our daughter’s university acceptance. The atmosphere was unchanged and full of nostalgia. We were satisfied with everything—the staff’s service, the Onsen, and the meals. We made wonderful memories. Thank you very much.

    The service is no longer available.

    Previously, the Hotel used to transport our luggage to the information center at the outlet. This time, we were told it is available only for Platinum members. We were very disappointed. We would like you to offer this service even for a fee.

    As expected of Prince.

    I have stayed at various Prince accommodations. This is not my first time in Karuizawa, but the well-maintained landscaping and facilities within the premises always provide a sense of calm. This time, I stayed at East. Previously, I have stayed at The Prince, East, and West. While I have visited during all seasons except spring, this is a hotel I would love to visit throughout the year to experience each season. It is quiet and highly recommended.

    Superior Twin East

    Stayed with two children. There are plenty of amenities for kids, the staff is kind, and there are many places to play, making it an enjoyable stay. The facility is clean and satisfactory. However, I would like to note a few points of dissatisfaction: ① The lounge is open 24 hours but lacks drink replenishment; even when replenished, the drinks are lukewarm and unappetizing. The variety of drinks is also limited. ② No water provided, forcing us to purchase expensive bottled water. Compared to hotels in the same price range, this feels inconvenient despite the high cost. ③ There are multiple breakfast venues available; we chose a buffet restaurant that does not require a reservation but found the selection very limited and unsatisfactory compared to what might be offered with reservations (though unclear). ④ Despite being a Superior Twin room, it has a unit bath.

    The Onsen was slight...

    The Onsen was slightly hot on the first day but felt just right on the second day. The floors are cleaned frequently, making it a pleasant experience. The locker for sandals uses a dial system where you set a passcode, so be careful to remember your initial code; otherwise, you won't be able to open it. The open-air bath is also very relaxing and highly recommended!

    Had a relaxing stay.

    I realized after check-in that I had reserved a Forest Room instead of a Superior Twin, but anything missing was promptly delivered upon request, allowing for a comfortable stay. Strolling around the property and shopping at the outlet without leaving the premises made for a relaxing and leisurely experience unique to Prince Hotels. My mother, who previously stayed at an old Karuizawa hotel, also prefers Prince Hotels, so after 20 years, we are returning to being loyal Prince guests.

    Karuizawa Prince Hotel: A Return After 30 Years

    Karuizawa Prince Cottage, a classic destination for ski trips with friends in our 20s. Visiting again after 30 years brought back nostalgic memories. While some signs of aging remain despite renovations, the staff's excellent hospitality made our stay enjoyable. The ski resort was cold but sunny, and being a weekday, it wasn’t crowded. Even after heavy snow, we managed to get there with regular tires. Not sure how long we'll continue skiing and snowboarding as a family, but we’d love to come back again!

    Accommodation Plan with Dinner and Breakfast

    The meals and staff service were excellent. However, since it is a Resort Hotel with a great location close to the city and has historical significance, I think it would be better to reinstate the accommodation Plan that includes dinner and breakfast.

    First Cottage Stay

    It was our first time staying in a cottage for a family of three. We used the Family Type A. Honestly, I didn't have high expectations due to my preconceived notion of a "cottage," but the impression upon entering the entrance was "cleaner than I imagined!" I was worried about my child (a toddler) who is unfamiliar with new places, but he was happily running around the room. The living room had a low table with four large colorful cushions. There was one room on each side from the living room, one side had a room with a bunk bed and a baby playpen. We moved the playpen to the side against the wall, creating a spacious area for the child to play. It was just right for a toddler to play lying down. The other side was a twin bed room, which was also spacious. Since it was November and we had a toddler, we were concerned about the warmth inside, but the heating function was not a problem. The meal plan included breakfast, and we used a buffet called Primrose in the West. Since we had a toddler, we requested a shuttle service to the reception, and they came immediately, which was helpful. It was also convenient that they could take us to the entrance of the shopping plaza in front. As for breakfast, it wasn't to the point of "too many varieties!" but each dish was delicious, so the whole family was satisfied. The reception staff were kind, and the check-in and check-out process left a good impression (thank you to the staff who took a photo in front of the cottage at check-out). Since it was the autumn foliage season, we enjoyed walking around the Prince grounds as a stroll. If I had to point out a downside, it would be the cottage's bathroom. I think it's inevitable due to the high humidity area, but there was a noticeable mold (the shower water pressure was perfect). Also, we might have overlooked the plan details or instructions, but we realized later that Wi-Fi was available. Since there was no explanation at check-in, we assumed it wasn't available, so a brief explanation would have been helpful. Additionally, we had requested in advance to have the twin beds placed together against the wall, but it wasn't done (after contacting, they responded immediately). Overall, it was a very satisfying 2-night, 3-day stay. We would definitely like to use it again. Thank you to all the staff who took care of us during our stay.

    Passing grade, but...

    On October 27th (Sunday), we stayed at the East Cottage Family Type A. We were looking for a room where our 1.5-year-old child could move around without shoes, but there are surprisingly few Japanese-style rooms in Karuizawa, and even fewer double rooms (for sleeping in a row) in Japanese-Western style rooms, so we chose your cottage as it met our desired conditions. As it was a family type, it was equipped with toys, a baby circle, and diapers, which was good for the child. However, as it is a cottage for multiple-day stays for skiing, it felt a bit old. The heating was old, and the air conditioner was only for cooling, making it difficult to adjust the room temperature. Also, the hair dryer's output was weak, taking time to dry. The bathroom wasn't dirty, but it felt old. If there is no problem with electricity, having a microwave would make it more suitable for babies. For meals, we had dinner at the West buffet and breakfast at the dining room. The West buffet was stable in both variety and taste, and we were satisfied. It would have been better if the dishes were cleared a bit faster, but given the crowd and the number of staff, it might be unavoidable. Breakfast was a choice of Japanese or Western at the East dining room. I chose Japanese, and my wife chose Western. Both were delicious. However, considering preferences and quantity, the buffet might be better. It's a bit disappointing that the East doesn't offer a breakfast buffet except on weekends. When we stayed about 10 years ago, both dinner and breakfast were buffets at the East dining room, but at that time, the West was before renovation, and the East was the main hotel, so the situation might be different. However, seeing the West's prosperity, the East seems a bit lonely. Also, I wish cottage guests could use the onsen for free. The price difference isn't that significant. There is a bus for moving between the hotel and the outlet mall, and you can also get a shuttle service within the East from the cottage, which is very convenient. Of course, walking is also an option. It was cold and the weather wasn't good this time, but if it were clear, we might have seen a sky full of stars from the slopes. The cottage is also nestled in the woods, giving a full sense of a highland resort. Above all, being close to the ski lift is the best situation for ski guests. If I were 10 years younger, I would have wanted to come in winter. It depends on the season and weather, but if it fits perfectly, it might be the best.
