    A Private Villa in the Forest

    This was my first stay, and just as everyone says, it was a truly wonderful Accommodation. The food was delicious, the Onsen water was silky-smooth, the staff were great, everything in the fridge was free, and the price was reasonable. The view was beautiful and very relaxing. Also, since I love drinks, I was thrilled by the wide selection of rice shochu... Thank you very much! I’ll definitely visit again.

    We stayed for one night with dinner and breakfast included. The Room had a calm atmosphere, the view was wonderful, and it was a very comfortable space. At night, we could see many stars and felt soothed by the richness of nature. The indoor bath with free-flowing natural hot spring water was very spacious, and even two adults could soak in comfort. Both dinner and breakfast were well-balanced and absolutely delicious. Plenty of tasty vegetables were used, the eggs were fresh, and we were very satisfied. Personally, the burdock potage was especially delicious. The staff were also very kind, which made our stay truly comfortable. We would love to visit again in a different season.

    The Onsen and the food were excellent. We were able to relax and take our time. It would have been even better if the weather had been nice. When we mentioned it was a special anniversary, we received complimentary wine service at dinner. We’d love to try the seasonal dishes in different seasons as well.

    Excellent! I’d love to stay here again.

    The Room is spacious and beautiful, with a generously sized bed. The sound of insects and the greenery in view are soothing. A quiet time with no one to disturb you. Even the hot water feels wonderfully gentle on the skin. There are relaxing touches throughout, and plenty of drinks as well. The meals were not only delicious but also beautifully presented—nothing but satisfaction. We were so pleased we wanted to ask to see the chef and say thank you in person. My friend and I truly felt happy during our stay. Thank you very much.

    It was a wonderful Accommodation. The Room, meals, and service were all excellent. The Onsen was silky-smooth and very relaxing. If I had to mention one thing, I would have liked a bathrobe. It’s an Accommodation I’d love to visit again soon.

    The last day of Golden Week

    After leaving a highly positive Review last time, I quickly returned for another stay. On the last day of the holiday weekend, I stayed at Shirokane no Mori to relax and fully enjoy some downtime. Not only was the Room wonderful, but above all I want to praise the chef’s skill. The way they bring out the natural flavors of ingredients like vegetables while seasoning everything just right is something you don’t find with just any chef. Getting that balance is extremely difficult—if it’s too strong, it overwhelms the ingredients—so I truly applaud those subtle flavors. The staff are friendly, and even though this was only my second visit, it felt easy to talk with everyone; it’s a warm, homey Accommodation. As I said before, it has to be called reasonable. With such excellent meals, relaxing time in the Room, and checkout available until 12:00 p.m., it’s an ideal Accommodation for unwinding. This time I also enjoyed an aroma oil massage—nothing more to ask for. I can see why the Review score is so high; everyone must be satisfied. Thank you again for taking such great care of me. I’ll be back again!

    Absolutely satisfied with everything!!!!

    Every meal is thoughtfully prepared, and both the presentation and flavor are outstanding. This time, the burdock soup and the abalone grilled on a lava stone were exceptional. The Onsen leaves your skin soft and smooth, and the water temperature is well managed—truly relaxing and very comfortable. It would have been even better if satellite TV had been available.

    I’d love to stay here again.

    We stayed to relax and celebrate my husband’s birthday. The Room has a bedroom, a spacious bathroom with free-flowing Onsen water direct from the source, plus a sunroom-like living area and a deck—overall very comfortable and roomy. From the window we could see the winter landscape and distant mountain ranges; I imagine the fresh greenery and autumn leaves would be beautiful as well. The refrigerator was stocked with plenty of complimentary drinks, which we enjoyed while going in and out of the Onsen many times. Could we request bathrobes? Since we used the Onsen repeatedly, it would be nice to have them. The meals were also very generous in portion size. Thank you for the birthday dessert plate as well. The garden was beautifully maintained, and we enjoyed taking a walk there. It rained the next morning, but there were no umbrellas in the umbrella stand. Also, if check-in/out is not busy, I would prefer completing the procedures at a lobby seat with a nice view—but these are minor points. Accommodation prices have gone up everywhere recently, but I felt this Accommodation offers excellent value for money. My husband and I are already talking about coming back for a Multiple Night Stay next time.

    The Arrival of Spring

    I’d been curious about Shirogane no Mori for a while, and this was my first stay. Surrounded by nature, there are eight Rooms in total (I think) lined up, and I was told by the staff that they all have the same layout. The interior, the private bath, the space with a reclining chair, table, and sofa, and the terrace were all more than spacious enough for relaxing alone. I spent a peaceful time listening to cows, birds, and dogs. The meals were satisfying in both taste and portion size, and they even provided rice balls as a late-night snack. The vegetables in particular had rich flavor and were delicious. I didn’t take many photos at night, but the scenery was exactly like what’s shown on the website—an atmosphere like buildings on a hill. I enjoyed cherry blossoms at night while smoking on the terrace and was satisfied from start to finish. Honestly, it felt like it offered more than its price. It was so fulfilling that I even asked the staff who guided me around whether this pricing wasn’t too low. I stay at Accommodations two or three times a month; usually if it’s expensive you get what you pay for—but with this Accommodation I can only say it’s exceptionally reasonable. I like Onsen but I’m an odd guy who doesn’t usually take many baths—yet I ended up using the private bath three times because the water felt silky-smooth. Since I prefer slightly cooler water, letting out a little cold water made it just right. It was an Accommodation with nothing to criticize. It’s also less than two hours from my home, so I’d like to come again just for dinner. Thank you very much for taking such good care of me.

    This is a wonderful accommodation!

    We found availability just before a three-day weekend and stayed here. I’d been curious for a while, and it exceeded my expectations in the best way. The Room had everything we needed, and the bath was spacious—I was very satisfied. Dinner was also extremely delicious. If I had to mention one thing, I think breakfast could have slightly fewer items, with more effort put into other aspects instead. That said, I was happy with both the Room and dinner, so I’d love to return again soon.

    Enjoy the tranquility of the forest, excellent hot springs, and delicious meals.

    Arriving just before 5 PM with a rental car, we were warmly welcomed. After three days of meetings in Kumamoto City, I wanted to relax for one night and decided to visit Kikuchi Onsen for the first time. It was an absolutely wonderful experience, allowing me to unwind completely. I soaked in the Onsen multiple times during my stay and enjoyed delicious seasonal dishes for both dinner and breakfast that truly captured the essence of autumn. The beauty of the tableware and their thoughtful combinations left a lasting impression on me. Above all, I am deeply grateful for the warm hospitality and attention to detail from all the friendly staff. Although it was raining this time which made us hesitate, I look forward to visiting again with my wife next time and enjoying a stroll together. Thank you very much!

    The meals are exceptionally delicious.

    I stayed at the accommodation in early November. Although I arrived a bit late, the staff provided very courteous service, allowing for a smooth and pleasant check-in. The meals were served in private rooms at the restaurant, and every dish was absolutely delicious. The flavors were perfectly balanced—not too strong or too light—with thoughtful touches to make them easy to enjoy. I learned a lot from hearing about the locally sourced ingredients and those cultivated at the accommodation. The onsen was at a comfortable temperature, and the spacious relaxation room after bathing was very welcoming. The drink service in the room was also much appreciated. Waking up naturally with sunlight streaming through the window put me in such a good mood that I took a short walk around the property grounds. Breakfast had generous portions and was, of course, incredibly delicious as well. The freshly cooked rice I couldn’t finish was kindly made into rice balls for me to take along. It had been quite some time since my last trip, but spending luxurious moments surrounded by nature made it an unforgettable experience. Thank you so much!

    The hot water and staff were excellent.

    I chose this accommodation for the first time due to its high ratings. Unfortunately, the large public bath was unavailable on the day of my stay due to sudden maintenance, but the room's private bath was spacious with natural hot spring water. Initially, I thought it might be a bit too hot, but once inside, the silky smooth water felt amazing on my skin and made me want to soak for hours. However, I found it inconvenient that since the bath is located in the center of the room with only a ventilation fan available, opening both side doors caused steam and moisture to spread throughout the room. This meant I had to keep everything closed while bathing, which created a sauna-like atmosphere. Additionally, there was no view of the serene scenery from within the bath area. For these reasons, I deducted one point for this aspect. The meals were exceptional; I enjoyed two meals during my stay. The ingredients, seasoning, presentation—all reflected great care and creativity by the head chef—and everything tasted absolutely delicious. As I've gotten older, I've found it harder to finish full-course dinners at accommodations lately; however, this time everything was so good that I ended up eating every last bite. The cleanliness of the facility and attentiveness of staff were also outstanding. It truly was a relaxing and rejuvenating one-night stay—thank you very much!

    I stayed here for a maternity trip!

    We carefully selected and made a reservation for this trip as it would be our last one as a couple before expecting a baby at the end of the year. The staff called us in advance to ask about any dietary restrictions, which made us excited for the stay. The food exceeded all expectations and was absolutely delicious! The horse sashimi and salmon were cooked, so I could eat them with peace of mind. Every dish had just the right portion size—not too much or too little—which was truly impressive. The room's bath was incredibly spacious, almost big enough to swim in! Although it wasn’t an open-air bath, we thoroughly enjoyed the indoor bath experience. The bed had just the right firmness, and I fell asleep instantly upon lying down! It was also great that there were no extra charges for drinks in the refrigerator (ФωФ). Overall, it was such a wonderful accommodation. We hope to visit again when our child grows older!

    The room was sophisticated and very comfortable. The private onsen bath in the room allowed us to enjoy bathing more frequently and casually than usual. As expected from an auberge, the meals were exceptionally delicious, with perfect timing for each dish served. The staff also provided personalized assistance when my companion felt unwell the next morning. Their hospitality was truly outstanding. This is an accommodation I would love to stay at again.

    Stayed as a couple on the last day of the holiday to celebrate our wedding anniversary. For over 20 years, we have been traveling across various regions in search of accommodations that allow us to enjoy onsen at our own pace without worrying about others and savor delicious meals quietly at our leisure. While such places are rare, this accommodation fully met our expectations. The onsen in the room was absolutely perfect. Dinner was exquisite, with each dish beautifully presented and perfectly suited to our tastes. The wine was reasonably priced, allowing us to enjoy a leisurely meal. While detailing each menu item would take too long, the horse sashimi stood out as an exceptional delicacy far surpassing what we usually have locally. Breakfast offered a wide variety of dishes; everything, including the fresh eggs, was delicious. The dining area had a great view from an elevated location and provided semi-private rooms that were quiet and relaxing for meals. The staff serving us were attentive and provided clear explanations when needed. From check-in reception to being guided to our room, shuttle service during meals, and check-out assistance—every staff member was professional and courteous with just the right level of interaction for a comfortable stay. Since there are limited rooms available, it’s challenging to secure reservations on dates convenient for us; however, we look forward to visiting again when possible!
