    This is an Accommodation that will make you want to come back again.

    This was a return visit. I stayed here to visit my family’s grave and Koryu Shrine. The warm hospitality from the proprietress and all the staff was truly pleasant. The meals were delicious both to the eye and the palate. Breakfast included a partial buffet, and everything was always kept beautifully arranged. The bath and changing area were consistently clean and well maintained, which impressed me with how attentive the staff are. This is an Accommodation that makes you want to stay again!

    A Wonderful, Memorable Ryokan

    We stayed here as a family during summer vacation. We have used IKYU many times, but this is our first Review. The Facility and Rooms are not brand-new, but everything was well maintained and impeccably clean, and the Onsen was wonderful—an excellent Accommodation. The service was just right in every way, neither too much nor too little. Both dinner and breakfast were outstanding in taste and presentation, with perfect portions that we enjoyed to the very last bite. During our stay, we were pleasantly surprised many times by thoughtful touches such as the breakfast salad and the toothbrushes in the Room. It was a truly comfortable and memorable Accommodation where we could feel the care, ingenuity, and sincere hospitality throughout. We would love to visit again in the snowy season.

    We’d love to visit again.

    The Room had a great view and was spacious enough, making for a comfortable stay. Although the weather wasn’t good, the fresh greenery was beautifully memorable. The meals were thoughtfully prepared and delicious. Since it was during Golden Week, it may have been unavoidable, but the parking lot was crowded and it was hard to find a space. When it’s busy, I think it would be helpful to have staff managing the parking area.

    We were truly impressed by the staff’s warm hospitality!

    We stayed here to celebrate my partner’s birthday. The facilities were very clean, and there were so many thoughtful touches—like a free drink corner, a small selection of toys, plenty of large public baths, and even handheld fireworks—that we couldn’t experience everything in just one day! Above all, the staff’s attentiveness was outstanding. They helped serve the birthday cake and gifts, provided candles and a brazier for the fireworks, and adjusted the lighting to create a lovely atmosphere—we truly felt their care. My partner was very happy as well. We’d love to stay again!

    A wonderful Accommodation.

    The location is convenient, the food is delicious, and the Onsen water feels gentle and very relaxing, so I have stayed here several times. Overall, including the service, I am satisfied; however, there was one thing that concerned me this time. I stayed in a universal room, and there was dirt under the pillow shelf between the twin beds, which was not very pleasant. I think it should be wiped more thoroughly, or that section of tatami should be replaced. Other than that, I was satisfied.

    We were extremely satisfied!

    The dining, Onsen, and the hospitality of all staff were outstanding. Dinner was beautifully presented with exciting touches that delighted the eye, and it was just as delicious—our satisfaction was extremely high. Breakfast also offered a semi-buffet style selection and was very satisfying. We consulted in advance about the Shuttle Service to Nagaoka Station, and you kindly accommodated our requests with great care. Thank you very much.

    The cuisine, above all, deserves the highest praise.

    I don’t usually give a perfect score to any Accommodation, but if you can enjoy this level of cuisine for this Accommodation Fee, I have no choice but to rate it all 5s. As other Reviews said, dinner was truly outstanding. Both the appetizers and the main were deeply flavorful, and beautifully presented. The white rice is cooked right in front of you so it’s ready at just the right time, and from the start there are several tempting “rice companions” already set on the table (photo)—impossible not to be curious (laugh). Thanks to that, I finished a second bowl as well. For the main I chose the Sado beef steak, which was excellent. However, as mentioned in other Reviews, it has more marbling than expected, so if you’re not a fan of rich fat content, please keep that in mind. This is a large Ryokan, but compared with high-end cuisine served by small Accommodations that limit the number of parties per day, it didn’t fall short—if anything, it surpassed them in taste. They’ve clearly optimized operations: breakfast is half buffet-style. In the morning I like to control how much I eat myself, so this felt very practical. At check-in you receive an explanation at the front desk and then go to your Room on your own; personally that’s more than enough for me. Please don’t misunderstand—the staff are bright and very courteous. Amenities are also self-serve from a dedicated corner if you need anything extra. Because they balance service and efficiency so well, they can likely deliver food and service of that quality at this Accommodation Fee. The view from the Room was superb. I visited hoping for cooler weather; early June nights were actually cold enough that I turned on a bit of heating. I went to the Onsen later at night when it was less crowded, but slightly regret not going while it was still light out so I could better enjoy the scenery. Inside there are free drinks as well as a paid sake tasting corner (Japanese sake), a gift shop, and even some small play equipment for children—so you can relax comfortably during downtime too. While there were one or two very minor points where everything wasn’t absolutely perfect, overall there’s nothing to complain about—it was an extremely enjoyable stay. Thank you very much."""

    Cuisine, hot springs, the murmuring stream, and birdsong

    The thoughtfully crafted dishes delighted the eyes first and then made us happy with their flavors. We could truly taste the quality of the ingredients, and every plate was genuinely delicious. The silky, slightly thick bathwater was gentle and soothing, and in the open-air bath we enjoyed the fresh air, the sound of a nearby stream, and many Japanese bush warblers singing. The shared spaces are also full of clever touches—sofas in the lobby and along corridors for enjoying the view, plus a sake tasting corner that feels like a co-working space. All of the staff were poised and very courteous. If I had to mention one drawback, it would be that check-out is at 10:00—I wanted to relax longer with a book by the window. All in all, this is an Accommodation I’d love to stay at again.

    A heartwarming accommodation.

    This was our first stay at the accommodation. The dishes were beautifully presented, delicious, and very satisfying. The onsen water was slightly warm with a soft texture, making it perfect for a relaxing soak. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, which warmed our hearts as well. Next time, we would love to visit for a snow-viewing onsen experience.

    Used by the family when my parents came home to visit.

    We visited Nagaoka as a family for the first time in 20 years, returning to my parents’ hometown. We had stayed at Izumiya before, and this time we used the same Room again. The large public bath has been renovated, and the water temperature was just right. The spring quality left our skin feeling moisturized. We were lucky to be able to watch fireworks from the open-air bath, and everyone was thrilled. The food was also very delicious. The morning milk was especially good, and we had seconds. As it coincided with my mother’s 90th birthday celebration and my daughter’s birthday, it became a truly wonderful memory.

    Birthday Gift

    We visited for a family birthday celebration trip. The elaborate kaiseki cuisine was not only delicious but also deeply impressed our entire family. We enjoyed the traditional atmosphere of the accommodation, with the hostess welcoming us in kimono and greeting us during dinner. Thank you very much.

    A Happy Moment

    This was my second stay since the Niigata Chuetsu Earthquake. Even after 20 years, from the welcome to the farewell, I was able to spend a truly warm and comforting time in every aspect. I felt a bit emotional when leaving. The meals were excellent both 20 years ago and this time! Thank you very much!

    It is a precious and wonderful Property.

    This was my second stay at the Property during the snowy season. Once again, the snow-view Onsen was absolutely amazing! The water is gentle and not too hot, making it perfect for a relaxing soak. The meals were also incredibly delicious, leaving me completely satisfied. The staff were genuinely warm and welcoming, which truly warmed my heart as well. Without resorting to unnecessary extravagance, I got the impression that the Property is doing its best to maintain reasonable prices despite rising costs. With easy access via the bullet train and Shuttle Service, this snow-view Onsen is truly a rare and valuable place to stay.

    The property was almost as expected.

    I chose this Room with an onsen bath for my mother with leg issues. The only disappointment was the location from the Room. I made an online Reservation for a Room with a nice view, but it did not meet my expectations. The meals were very satisfying, and I thought it would be a great Property to enjoy with friends.

    The cuisine was elaborate, visually pleasing, and delicious, making it a very enjoyable experience. The Onsen was silky and gentle, making me want to enter it repeatedly. I would definitely like to visit again.

    Overall impressions

    The bath temperature and the rinse water temperature are too low. Additionally, the chlorine concentration is too high, leaving a lingering smell even after leaving the bath. Moreover, the air conditioner's vent louvers are covered in mold. If you're concerned about Legionella bacteria in the bath, this should also be cleaned and disinfected. On the other hand, I am satisfied with the food.
