    This Hotel is welcoming and attentive to dogs.

    This was our second stay. The location is convenient from Old Karuizawa and Karuizawa Station, and being in a quiet villa area makes it perfect for walks. We truly appreciated the frequent Shuttle Service by car from Karuizawa Station. All Hotel staff showed thoughtful attention and considerate care for both guests and dogs, which really impressed us. Whenever we travel with our dog, we will definitely stay at Le Chien Kyukaruizawa Hotel again. We were completely satisfied with everything—the meals, the Onsen, the shop, and even the dog photo booth. Thanks to this Hotel, our 2-night, 3-day trip to Karuizawa became a wonderful memory. Thank you very much.

    Summer in Karuizawa

    The location was excellent, so we really enjoyed walking our dog. We were also able to enjoy our meals with our dog without any worries.

    No odors! The property and the Room are spotless!!

    We stayed here for our summer family trip. Because our daughter has allergies, we were worried before arriving about whether the Room would be thoroughly cleaned and whether there might be any odors, but there were no issues at all. The Room we stayed in was a second-floor “Force” Room with a balcony and four beds (two of them are foldaway). There were two sinks, and although we didn’t use it, the in-room bath was spacious as well, so our family of four could stay comfortably without stress. There was no odor in either the lobby or our Room. The elevator and hallways had a pleasant aroma-like scent, and both the property and the Room were very clean—you could really feel how much effort the Hotel staff put into it. Apparently, since this January they have closed on some weekdays to do repairs and deep cleaning (confirmed on the Hotel’s Instagram). I saw some past Review mentioning odors, but they have clearly addressed it, and I think very few people would notice any smell now. The only exception was the indoor dog run area (like a photo booth space), which smelled slightly like dogs—perhaps because it had just rained—but considering most guests are traveling with dogs, it was completely acceptable. They offer plenty of dog amenities, plus free services for guests as well (I loved the late-night soba). Except for bathing areas, you can stay with your dog throughout the Hotel. There is also a natural Onsen; dinner’s full-course meal was delicious; breakfast buffet even included sparkling wine—excellent! Coffee beans are provided in the Room so you can grind them yourself for fresh coffee. All staff members were friendly too—it’s a really great Hotel. It’s also convenient that you can walk to Kyu-Karuizawa Ginza in just a few minutes from the Hotel. Next time, choosing a Plan without dinner and eating at popular places like Kawakami-an also sounds like a good option. The only downside is that the changing area of the large public bath is small. The dog run is also small, but our dog just sits quietly in a corner anyway so it wasn’t an issue; more active dogs might find it insufficient. It was such a wonderful Hotel that I’d love to stay here again when visiting Karuizawa.

    We enjoyed Karuizawa...

    We enjoyed Karuizawa’s cool climate, delicious meals at the Hotel, and the large public bath, and had a wonderful time with our dog. When we visit Karuizawa again, we will definitely stay here again. Thank you.

    Excellent access to Old Karuizawa!

    This was our first stay at Lucian, traveling as a couple with one small dog. The Accommodation’s exterior has a Southern French style that we liked and really sets a resort mood. The staff greeted us properly and were friendly in a good way. We booked a breakfast-only Plan, so we went out for dinner. Breakfast felt like a Business Hotel buffet: The miso soup was too thin (if it’s meant to be health-focused, that should be clearly promoted). No omelet, no soy milk. The bacon wasn’t cooked enough (was it boiled?). The bread was out of the question (even if using frozen baked products, they should spend a bit more on quality). Fruit… There was information about the shared bath, but it was far too small, so we left right away. Thankfully, the bath in our Room was clean. If we stay again, we would probably choose a no-meals Plan.

    A wonderful place to stay with your dog

    This was our first time staying with our Toy Poodle. The amenities, dog run, and photo spots were irresistible for dog lovers. Everything was clean, and there were no unpleasant odors. Above all, the Hotel staff were kind. With their pleasant greetings and helpful support when we needed it, the atmosphere was wonderful, and we would definitely like to stay again.

    It was very good.

    I read the Reviews in advance before booking. Everything was just as described, and we were very satisfied with both the dinner course meal and the breakfast buffet. We were so full that we forgot to go for the complimentary late-night ramen service. It was also great for our dog—we could walk freely around the lobby on a leash, and we were very happy to be able to dine together at the restaurant. We would love to stay again.

    It was excellent.

    Everything was very clean, the Room interior was lovely, and the dog-friendly facilities were well equipped. There was a front yard where we could let our dog play right away, and at mealtimes a chair for dogs was provided at the table. There was also a photo booth, so we had a great time. As owners, we appreciated that dinner is served as a course meal, so it could be brought to us without having to leave our dog to go pick it up. The food was delicious, and because shampooing isn’t allowed in the two private baths, guests can rotate quickly in a short time, which made it very comfortable. The large public bath also has a sauna where we could relax. It’s also within walking distance of Karuizawa, and we were grateful that we could keep our car parked until early afternoon even after check-out.

    Creepy Paintings and Chairs

    There was a creepy painting next to the elevator, and it was disappointing—it would be better replaced with another painting, such as one of dogs. Also, the rocking chair placed alone in front of the back window felt eerie. The welcome snacks and drinks were well stocked and great. It was nice that luggage carts were available in the parking lot. The selection of dog food was excellent, and our dog was happy too. It was also great that we could walk to Old Karuizawa Ginza.

    It was a bit disappointing.

    This was my first visit, but the guidance in the parking lot was careless. The person who escorted me to my Room was kind, but there was an unpleasant odor in the Room and I couldn’t sleep at night. The meals were standard French cuisine, but since I booked a two-night stay, I canceled dinner on the second day and went to a nearby restaurant. For a Multiple Night Stay, it would be nice to have dinner options to choose from. Other than that, the staff were kind and courteous, so I would like to visit again.

    A Hotel You’ll Be Glad You Stayed At

    This time, I stayed with my toy poodle. As soon as we arrived at the parking lot, a staff member came right away and helped carry our luggage on a cart, which was very helpful. Everyone at the front desk was kind, and they were gentle with my dog as well. The complimentary treats were a nice touch. The Room had a clean, Western-style feel, and being able to grind coffee beans with the coffee mill made it feel special. There were also snacks prepared for both people and dogs in the Room, which showed great thoughtfulness. The only concern was that the bedding had an animal-like odor that seemed to have soaked in. I would appreciate deodorizing and sanitizing. At the restaurant, every table had space for dogs, so being able to dine together with my dog was truly wonderful for guests traveling with pets, and we were able to enjoy a special time. My dog happily ate the beef menu at dinner, but the next morning didn’t eat it—perhaps because the meat was a bit tough—which was slightly disappointing. Our meals used high-quality ingredients, and we could enjoy even the low-allergen options with peace of mind, though overall they felt slightly lightly seasoned. The freshly baked bread service was well received. For late-night noodles (yonaki soba), I chose the soy sauce flavor. It was delicious. I was also satisfied with the breakfast buffet. However, since the coffee machine brewed one cup at a time, it tended to get crowded; offering coffee in decanters would make it even more convenient. The large public bath was clean and relaxing, and I also appreciated the free ice pop service after bathing. The dog run even had photo spots where we could capture fun memories. Since all guests were traveling with dogs, conversations naturally started among us; it created a very friendly atmosphere with an appeal you can’t experience at an ordinary Hotel. For drinks at the restaurant, I used Kyoryt Maintenance shareholder benefit vouchers. I personally own a small number of Kyoryt Maintenance shares as well, and after experiencing such a wonderful Hotel firsthand, I genuinely felt glad that I bought shares in this company. It ended up being satisfying not only as an overnight stay but also from a shareholder’s perspective. If only the bedding odor could be improved further it would be even more comfortable; aside from that point I was very satisfied overall and would like to stay again with my dog.

    A pet-friendly stay ...

    A pet-friendly stay in Old Karuizawa at a very reasonable price. The location alone makes it worth it, and the services are great too: complimentary late-night soba, drinks and ice cream in the post-bath area, free soft drinks in the lounge, and a free private bath. We used the carbonated Onsen private bath and felt refreshed. The Room was clean, and both the in-room bath and washbasin area were new and spotless. What concerned me was that the carpet seemed to have an odor—probably something only dogs would notice—and although we chose a Room with a garden, there was an ant nest in the garden so it was covered with ants and unusable. The meals were delicious as well. With such a convenient location, sightseeing was easy, and morning/evening walks let us enjoy Karuizawa’s forest-like atmosphere.

    Still the best

    This was my third stay. It’s perfect for staying with a dog. The staff service and the quality of the food—everything is excellent. I’d love to come again.

    This is a dog-friendly Hotel.

    We arrived at the Hotel early, but the staff were very kind and looked after our car, so we were able to enjoy exploring the old town. The Room was clean and well maintained, making it comfortable, though a little small. We also enjoyed our meal at a relaxed pace.

    The dog amenities were great, but the amenities for guests were not as good as at other Accommodations, which was disappointing. The meals were delicious. All of the staff were very pleasant.

    About Opening and Closing the Door

    We always enjoy a comfortable stay here, and we truly appreciated your hospitality again this time. Thank you very much. One point: the toilet door in the Room is heavy, making it inconvenient to open and close. We understand it may be due to the interior design, but we would appreciate it if it could be made a little easier to operate. Thank you for your consideration.

    It was excellent again.

    This was our fourth stay, and we had a very comfortable and enjoyable three days. The staff were wonderful as always, and we felt relaxed and comfortable throughout our stay. We also enjoyed a delicious dinner. We would love to stay again next year.

    It’s my first time back in Karuizawa in 20 years.

    My spouse and I visited Karuizawa for the first time in 20 years on May 23rd and 24th, bringing our dog Rin with us. The weather was cold, with thick clouds overhead and a temperature of 10°C, though it did not rain. We checked in to the Hotel at 3:00 p.m. The Hotel staff were kind and courteous. We went straight to the Onsen, which was at a comfortable temperature, allowing us to relax slowly. Dinner was a full-course French meal. There were quite a few guests that day, but perhaps because there were many staff members, dishes were brought out one after another and we were able to enjoy them while they were still warm. The food was very delicious; considering the accommodation cost, I think it offered good value for money. It was a bit disappointing that the room was slightly small. Overall, we were satisfied.

    This is a very comfortable accommodation.

    Since we wanted to go to a recommended restaurant in the evening, we chose a Plan with breakfast only. Breakfast was a buffet with a wide variety of options, and everything was delicious. Because the weather during our stay wasn’t great, we used the indoor and outdoor dog runs, but they were smaller than expected and I wished our dog could have had more space to run. Other than that, we were very satisfied. The staff clearly love dogs, and it was a very comfortable Hotel to stay at.

    The best dog-friendly Hotel in Karuizawa!

    This was my first stay here. The location is excellent, and the staff, Room size and layout, amenities, and the fact that we could be with our dog everywhere except the indoor baths made our Multiple Night Stay extremely comfortable. What I especially loved was a sign in the Room with a cute illustration of a dog saying, “Sorry, housekeeping—I slipped out!” It made me feel at ease and truly able to relax in the Room. Everywhere else we’ve stayed with our dog always has a sign saying there will be an additional cleaning fee, so I was really touched by the warmth here. I would definitely like to stay again next time.

    Great food and excellent service.

    The food was excellent, and we were able to dine together with our dog, so our beloved pet looked very happy. The Room was also clean. We especially appreciated that the toilet and bath were separate. We would love to stay again.

    Completely satisfied

    I have stayed at several pet-friendly hotels in the past, but this one was the best overall. Not only was their service for pets excellent, but the hotel itself was well-constructed with high-quality materials and interiors. The meals were also made with great ingredients, leaving us very satisfied. My wife was equally delighted. The location offers convenient access to central Old Karuizawa, and although we visited during the cold season in December, we plan to return in summer next time. The staff's hospitality was wonderful, making our stay very comfortable.

    It was a very comfortable Hotel.

    The staff provided thoughtful and attentive service, allowing for a pleasant stay. As a frequent user of Kyoritsu Resort, I appreciate the comfort of the Room, as well as services like late-night ramen and probiotic drinks offered uniformly across the whole country. My dog also enjoyed a truly comfortable stay. There were no issues with any odors in the Room, which was initially a concern. If I may make one request, it would be to offer both Japanese and Western options for dinner menus. Additionally, seasonal menu changes would make me want to return even more. I look forward to staying again with my dog next time. Thank you for your hospitality!

    It was absolutely wonderful.

    I stayed for two nights. The staff's courteous service and the Onsen were all excellent, making me wonder, "Is this price really okay? Shouldn't it be higher?" It was such a wonderful Hotel. However, it was a bit disappointing that the dinner course on the first night was cold, possibly because there were many guests. Other than that, the timing of bringing out the dishes was perfect. I will definitely visit again. The prices might go up in summer!

    Family Trip

    The Hotel was very clean and beautiful. The food was delicious, and the hospitality was exceptional, making my stay very satisfying. Traveling with a dog often requires extra care, but here, most guests had dogs and followed proper etiquette, allowing for a relaxing experience. I would love to stay here again!

    This is my second stay at this accommodation. The female staff always serve with a smile, making the experience pleasant, though the male staff's service felt a bit businesslike at times. The bath includes a sauna, which is perfect for sauna enthusiasts. This year, there were chairs in the open-air bath area, allowing for a more relaxing time. For our once-a-year family trip, this slightly luxurious and extraordinary accommodation was very satisfying. We look forward to staying again next year!

    This is my third time staying here. Every time, I have an extraordinary experience and am extremely satisfied. The bottled milk after a bath is amazing. We had so much fun running around and playing in the dog run. I look forward to staying again next year.
