    The Room and the meals were excellent.

    The Room, set in a Kanazawa chaya-style building painted with red bengara pigment, was extremely comfortable, and both dinner and breakfast were carefully crafted kaiseki courses, each dish telling its own story. We truly enjoyed everything!

    It was amazing!

    We visited Kanazawa on our honeymoon and stayed here. The bath was excellent, and the food was absolutely delicious—we were very satisfied. If we have the chance to visit Kanazawa again, we would definitely like to stay here. Thank you very much!

    The Heart of Higashi Chaya

    Located on the way from Higashi Chaya to Utatsuyama. A long stepping stone path leads to the entrance. The guest rooms are separate and offer views of Higashi Chaya. Dinner begins with kobako crab, filled with rich roe and crab meat, offering excellent texture and flavor. The soup features salted yellowtail in white miso, providing a deep and refined taste.

    Excellent dining and hospitality

    I went on a trip with my mother. The location is right behind the Higashi Chaya sightseeing area in Kanazawa, situated on a hilltop with a great view and beautiful night scenery of Kanazawa. The meals were all excellent! Each dish was made with incredibly fresh ingredients and prepared with great care. Among them, the crab was outstanding. The portions were just right, and we finished everything without leaving any leftovers. The grilled fish for breakfast truly showcased the quality of the Sea of Japan—thick and flavorful like no other. At one point, the owner personally prepared a Noto Kuro pot dish right in front of us, which was an unforgettable experience. Conversations about Kanazawa with the proprietress and Ryokan staff were also very enjoyable and left lasting memories.

    Excellent and delicious as a traditional Japanese restaurant. Fairly average as a Ryokan.

    I stayed here to enjoy Kanazawa's cuisine, and it was absolutely the right choice. I had the pleasure of savoring traditional Japanese kaiseki dishes. While there wasn’t much emphasis on modern or innovative cuisine, the traditional flavors were so exquisite that I found them perfect as they were. The attention to detail in cooking methods, such as the doneness of meat, cuts on grilled fish, and preparation of each ingredient, was remarkable. The delicious meat and matsutake mushroom dishes are something I still long for even now. Both dinner and breakfast were truly delightful. (However, since the dishes and seasonings are very traditional Japanese style, they might be a bit challenging for foreign guests to fully appreciate. For us though, it was perfect.) As a ryokan experience, it offered an authentic stay in a classic Japanese-style room. However, being accustomed to modern hotel facilities with beds and contemporary conveniences made us feel slightly inconvenienced at times. That said, considering this is a pure Japanese-style ryokan with only four rooms within a restaurant’s premises—despite its age—it provided maximum hospitality in its own way. Hygiene standards were excellent too; we felt comfortable throughout our stay. If there’s one thing worth mentioning: since the ryokan is located uphill from its entrance gate below, we found it slightly disappointing that female staff members didn’t assist with carrying our suitcases up when we arrived or help bring them down during checkout. Overall though, this place primarily serves as an extension of their fine dining restaurant where guests can also stay overnight—a luxurious setting for enjoying meals at leisure. If given another opportunity someday—even just for dining—I would love to visit again!

    We stayed at the accommodation for our wedding anniversary. The room was very comfortable, and above all, the food was truly delicious!! It was an accommodation we would definitely like to stay at again when visiting Kanazawa.

    The crab course is truly the best, and I visit every year. However, I always feel that it's a pity the bath water is lukewarm.
