    A Mother-and-Daughter Trip for Two

    On my previous trip I stayed here with friends, but this time I had the pleasure of staying with my elderly mother to celebrate her 88th birthday. Because she has difficulty walking, I was a little worried about accessibility, but you kindly assisted us in every situation and we were able to stay comfortably. Although it rained unfortunately, we were able to relax and talk in our Room, and also enjoy a pottery painting experience, making it a truly happy time. The meals were also very delicious. Not only the Akaushi beef and fish, but the Yamato vegetables were wonderful as well. We could also feel the scenery of Nara through the tableware, and the seasonal hydrangeas painted on it delighted us visually too. On our way to the dining area, we found a large snail. Seeing my mother smile happily like a child left a strong impression on me, and it made me realize again that choosing Ubusuna no Sato for this trip was the right decision. Thank you very much for giving us such a happy time. I’m already looking forward to receiving the plate we painted.

    A cozy and comfortable space

    We stayed in the “Nisshin” Room. The weeping cherry blossoms had already fallen, but we were able to enjoy the well-maintained Room and garden. The meals were also very delicious. It was a wonderful trip, and we felt the warm hospitality of the head chef and all the staff. Next time, we would like to visit with our parents.

    Accommodation in Nara City

    You can truly soak up the atmosphere of Nara. The location is a bit inconvenient for sightseeing, but there are none of the crowds you find at tourist spots—and that’s part of what makes staying in Nara so appealing. What I especially want to highlight is the food. It’s a Japanese course meal, and I’d recommend it to Japanese-food lovers who have grown tired of kaiseki at luxury Ryokan or high-end traditional restaurants. It feels distinctly Nara, but not in an over-the-top way, and I ended up loving it. It’s a small Accommodation run by a limited staff, but I don’t think you’ll regret staying here. I feel this Accommodation offers a unique take on what an Accommodation in Nara can be.

    I was deeply impressed by the beauty of the Accommodation and Ando Town.

    Ando Town, where the Accommodation is located, is home to Taishi-michi, the route said to have been traveled by Prince Shotoku from Ikaruga Palace to Asuka, and I was truly moved by the atmosphere of the town. At the Accommodation, the weeping cherry blossoms were beautifully in bloom, the Room was spacious, and each dish was prepared with great care. Surrounded by Nara’s rich history, I was able to spend a relaxing time. The staff were also very kind, and I would love to visit again in a different season.

    Travel for 8 people across 3 generations

    Stayed with a group of 8, ranging from 92 years old to 2 years old, in a renovated warehouse accommodation. The room was spread across the first and second floors, with the first floor divided into three spacious areas that were warm and welcoming. The staff were kind and accommodating. We enjoyed a pottery painting experience where each person created their own unique plate or bowl as a memorable souvenir. After bathing, we relaxed while admiring the beautifully lit garden, enjoying a very peaceful time. The meals were exceptional; the New Year's dinner featured seasonal and locally sourced ingredients prepared with care, both visually stunning and delicious. Breakfast was also delightful and thoroughly enjoyable. As we had exclusive use of the warehouse accommodation, we could read pottery books provided by the accommodation and spend our time freely without worry—it was truly an enjoyable stay!

    Enjoyed at the end of the year.

    We stayed at the accommodation on December 28th as a couple. The Akaushi beef sukiyaki was absolutely delicious, and the spacious room in the renovated storehouse was very satisfying. However, the toilet was cold, so a simple warm air heater might be a good addition. Since Nara is one of our favorite spots, we would like to stay in the main house with a kaiseki course next time. Thank you to all the staff!

    The cuisine is excellent, but...

    The food was exceptionally delicious. However, it was cold even with the air conditioning on during winter, so I wouldn't recommend it. The service was the worst I've ever experienced, leaving me feeling uncomfortable throughout my stay. I felt it wasn't worth the price. The most shocking part was being guided to a different room than the one I had reserved. The follow-up response to this issue was also poor. Despite high reviews, my trip turned out to be disappointing.

    Our stay was incredibly peaceful and relaxing, as we were the only guests at the accommodation. The food was absolutely delicious, and we could feel the chef's dedication in every dish. The staff were all kind and warmly welcomed us. One small issue was that the faucet at the handwashing area was loose at its base; I intended to mention it upon departure but forgot to do so. We would love to stay here again when visiting Nara. Thank you very much!

    Family trip with a 1-year-old daughter

    We stayed at this accommodation for a family trip with my husband and our 1-year-old daughter. The welcome drink, matcha and persimmon monaka, created a wonderful atmosphere. We stayed in the "Nisshin" room, which had a beautiful garden and was directly connected to the dining restaurant, making it easy to move around with our child. It was also convenient to quickly return to the room for forgotten items! The amenities were excellent, especially having yukata for after bathing until dinner and pajamas for sleeping—it was such a nice touch! Both dinner and breakfast were delicious; everything we ate was amazing. I wanted to take photos of all the dishes but ended up eating them right away instead! They even thoughtfully prepared food for our daughter, allowing us as a family to fully enjoy the meals together. This luxurious accommodation made for an unforgettable trip—an exceptional experience!

    I decided to stay at this accommodation after seeing it on YouTube as a must-visit place in Nara Prefecture. The service and room were excellent, and the food was delicious from start to finish. I would love to stay here again.

    A Hotel with the Breath of Nature (Guardian Deity).

    Recently, we stayed at the accommodation as a three-generation family. We were welcomed not only by the staff but also by beautiful flowers, lush greenery, and the rich scent of jasmine. In the morning, we woke up to the sound of birds, enjoyed coffee on the balcony while taking deep breaths, and felt connected with nature. Even our grandchild, who is under two years old, sat on the balcony and didn’t want to leave that comfortable spot. On our way to breakfast in the main building with my grandchild, we encountered wild birds and were deeply moved. During dinner, dishes beautifully arranged with fresh irises and elegant tableware were served. It was a rich experience for all senses—sight, taste, and aroma alike. Perhaps due to influences from Horyuji’s aesthetic philosophy in its decor and tableware design? It felt like a moment where "eternal history" and "life" coexist here. Although being surrounded by nature might make one worry about insects in such an environment within the forest setting—thanks to well-placed mosquito coils provided by thoughtful staff—we realized this happiness just before leaving this accommodation.     Located in a quiet area, it was a very charming stay. The meals were elaborate and served at the perfect timing, making them very satisfying. It is a highly recommended property with a private feel, and I would like to visit again, this time with my family.

    It was a charming bu...

    It was a charming building. The meals were heartfelt. Although a small matter, the wooden indoor footwear felt slippery and scary on the stone paths. The door of the box containing the refrigerator was broken. The key holder was damaged, and I had to search twice in the dark when the key scattered. Also, the handmade project felt like a missed opportunity as there was no explanation of what happens to the creations afterward. Since the stay is limited to two groups, I think a little more relaxation could be achieved with some ingenuity in the timing, location, and arrangement of meals.

    Ando Town, the village of Ubusuna, where the history of Yamato remains

    An auberge renovated from the birthplace of Living National Treasure ceramic artist Kenkichi Tomimoto. We chose this old house for our anniversary, limited to two groups per day for a leisurely stay. Although there were hardly any ceramics left in the room we stayed in, it was nice to feel the time pass slowly while enjoying matcha and Japanese sweets in a pure Japanese-style room, overlooking the Japanese garden, with the study he used left as it was. Dinner was a Japanese kaiseki meal at the restaurant, focusing on locally sourced ingredients and the chef's commitment to healthy dishes. It was my first time trying Nara brand Mahoroba Akagyu beef and mukago rice, and I wanted to have seconds. Breakfast also featured locally sourced ingredients that are gentle on the body, with fresh eggs called "Dragon's Eggs" and freshly made tofu, which were delicious. It was a bit disappointing that the coffee served at the end was cold. One of the perks was a pottery painting experience, which was quite difficult as it was my first time and there was no guidance, just a system of freedom, which was confusing. As mentioned in reviews, some paints didn't come out, but despite the struggles, I somehow managed to complete it, so it might have been a fun experience after all. I learned for the first time that Ando Town is near Horyuji Temple. I explored the Historical and Folklore Museum, Akinami Shrine, and Gokurakuji Temple, but I thought if there was a course to tour the history and culture of Ando Town, more people would get to know it, just like I did. The national important cultural property "Naka House" is currently temporarily closed. I went to see the exterior since I was there, but when I got stuck in a rice field while backing up on a narrow road, a young man rushed over and lent me tools. I was really grateful. Nara has many narrow roads, so I thought I should be careful. I encountered various events, but I was relieved to return home safely. Thank you for taking care of me.
