    We enjoyed the wide variety of dishes, and the Room was wonderful.

    The spacious, comfortable lobby and the nearby parking lot made parking very convenient. The Room was clean, with a wide range of yukata sizes available, and I really enjoyed the view from the window. Dinner and breakfast offered a great variety of dishes, including sushi and rice balls made by the chefs, steak, and more. Everything was delicious, and there was also an excellent selection of desserts.

    I’ve been wanting to stay here for a long time.

    Born and raised in Sendai, I visited because I had always wanted to stay here at least once. The Facility and amenities were excellent, but it was disappointing that the service felt somewhat condescending. At dinner, the venue may have been too small or simply crowded, making it difficult to pick up food. It may have been just bad timing, but many guests left me with an impression of poor manners. That said, the Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I can’t help comparing it with other Accommodations, so overall there were no major issues—those were simply my impressions.

    The meals were disappointing.

    It felt like a traditional Hotel, and we enjoyed the large bath and the open-air bath. The service was excellent, and we had a very pleasant stay. Dinner was very disappointing. Breakfast was delicious.

    Other than the food...

    The food was very delicious, and the Room was spacious, so we were satisfied. We also stayed here a year ago, but with fewer staff now, we were disappointed that there was no luggage service and that drinks did not come out promptly during the buffet. In addition, the Facility feels outdated; even after having the TV in our Room repaired three times, it only then became watchable... There were no decorations such as flowers in the hallways, and it was disappointing that the cost-cutting was too obvious.

    A glamorous lobby and warm hospitality.

    I was blown away by the Showa-era bubble-style lobby. There are koi swimming!! The furnishings aren’t new, but you can tell they’ve been carefully looked after, and I could really feel the thoughtfulness of the Hotel staff. I stayed in a Western-style Room, and it was clean and easy to use. If I had to mention one thing, there’s only a mirror in the bathroom, so I would have appreciated having another one. Both the meals and the baths were very satisfying, but what left the biggest impression on me was how warmly all of the Hotel staff welcomed us with friendly smiles. I’d love to stay again.

    The building is old,...

    The building is old, but it felt clean. It was tough having to carry our heavy luggage ourselves and then wait in a long line for the old elevator after check-in to reach our Room, but I felt this Ryokan has clear priorities—cutting costs where possible to keep such a large property running, while still investing in what matters most, like the baths and meals. The Onsen had many different types and was a lot of fun. The buffet was truly excellent both morning and night. The Room was spacious, and the kids were thrilled. There was also a pool, so the Facility offerings were very well equipped. I’d like to visit again if I have the chance.

    Dinner gets extremely crowded.

    The dinner buffet was extremely crowded, and the operation was terrible. Having just one woman manage the line... I understand you are short-staffed, but it wasn’t handled well. The venue was packed and not an environment where you could enjoy your meal. Even with time slots, it won’t work unless you also limit the number of guests. The baths are great, and although the Room is old, it’s clean—otherwise it’s a good Hotel. For the price, though, the overall experience was disappointing.

    About the 3-star service rating

    The return Shuttle Service from the Hotel only runs at 8:30 and 10:30. If you try to take the 10:30 bus after the 10:00 check-out, it is often full and you may not be able to board. We tried to make a Reservation in advance about a month ahead, but it was already fully booked. I understand there may be operational constraints, but I would like to see more departures added during the 10 o’clock hour around check-out time. There is also a public bus, but it stops at seven or eight nearby hotels, so by the time it reaches Sendai Station it is extremely crowded and full. On that day, guests from other hotels also could not board, and an extra bus had to be arranged.

    First Time at Zuiho

    Both the Onsen and meals were highly satisfying! In a good way, the only downside was that the dinner buffet had so many options that we couldn't try everything. Ideally, staying for two nights would allow us to enjoy it all. It would be better to have a pre-payment lane at checkout. Waiting in line despite pre-paying defeats the purpose. Overall, my family was very satisfied, and we will definitely visit again!

    I stayed here this May and had such a great experience that I decided to visit again. The meals, room, and Onsen are always excellent, providing a high level of satisfaction. I would love to stay here again when I visit Sendai.

    Family Trip

    We stayed as a family. Since our previous stay was excellent, I planned this trip to bring everyone along. However, this time, perhaps because the room was large, it was very cold and had a strong musty smell, which was disappointing. Regarding the meals, everyone was very satisfied. We would like to use your services again in the future. When we called the front desk about the cold temperature, they kindly offered to bring us a heater since it couldn't be adjusted with air conditioning alone; however, we declined as there were several small children with us. Please consider some measures for such situations. In addition, when I went to use the restroom on the first floor in the morning before heading to the basement bathhouse, I found that there was no toilet paper left. Since no one was at reception yet at that time, I left it as is but would appreciate if spare supplies could be prepared in advance!

    The Room and Facility are generally outdated. The floor of the guest room has a distinctive smell, and the water in the toilet's bidet does not work continuously when used.

    The room is disappointing.

    This was my first time using this Hotel. I chose it for our annual trip with three family members because of its good reputation, but when we entered the Room and opened the curtains to enjoy the view, there were large spider webs everywhere, which was disappointing. I immediately closed the curtains, and there was even a spider inside the Room. The limited number of power outlets was also inconvenient. The food was delicious, and all the staff were excellent; however, during busy times, the elevator situation was very inconvenient. It didn’t stop on our floor at all, and many people were waiting in front of it looking troubled. While I understand that immediate improvement might be difficult, please try to remove as many spider webs as possible. Thank you to all Hotel staff for your assistance!

    Enjoyable and Delicious Class Reunion

    A mini class reunion for a girls' high school group in their late 60s. Last year, there were 8 participants, and this year we had 10. Thank you for providing us with a larger room than initially booked. We were given two rooms for five people each, and thanks to being placed in the innermost room, we could chat until 2 AM and everyone was very satisfied. For meals, we had reserved seating in a separate room where each person could pick their favorite dishes and enjoy eating while chatting at leisure (we ended up not eating the famous crab because of all the talking—haha). Lastly, thank you for taking our group photo; the composition was perfect! We plan to gather again next year, so we look forward to your continued hospitality.

    Third Mother-Daughter Trip Together

    I was excited to check in as I had always wanted to stay at Akiu Onsen. The three types of drinks after bathing, the aperitif during dinner, and the takeaway coffee after breakfast were delightful. The warm smile and service from the gentleman at the front desk made for a pleasant start to the day. The bath facilities, including the waterfall shower and sauna, were great; however, while it may be unavoidable, fallen leaves in the open-air bath were slightly unpleasant. The room was comfortable to stay in, but the hallway felt a bit humid—perhaps adding more circulators would help improve this. Overall, it was a satisfying trip with delicious food!

    The Onsen is spacious!

    First time at Akiu Onsen. I had already decided to stay at Zuiho. Although it is a large hotel, it doesn't feel overly crowded. The spacious public bath was especially relaxing and enjoyable. The buffet offers a wide variety of dishes, which I think is particularly great for families. Rairaikyo Gorge is also nearby, making it perfect for a leisurely stroll. The shuttle bus service was convenient and very helpful!

    A large accommodation after a long time

    The Facility is old, but the toilets and shower rooms have been renovated. The building is spacious and offers a sense of openness. Meals were served buffet-style. There were so many options that it was hard to choose, but I enjoyed eating a lot. The staff's service was excellent as well.

    Satisfied

    Stayed at Hotel Zuiho during the Tohoku Four Temples Pilgrimage. It was raining upon arrival, and there was a bit of distance from the hotel entrance to the parking lot, but they kindly picked us up by car, which was very helpful. The driver provided excellent service, leaving a great first impression. The lobby felt slightly dated but still impressive with its luxurious atmosphere. The room was spotless and comfortable for a pleasant stay. The onsen had various options, including two types of saunas—high-temperature and medium-temperature—which were perfect for a sauna enthusiast like me. Dinner was a buffet featuring freshly grilled beef tongue, crab legs, sashimi, and an array of Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes that were all delightful. Desserts such as pudding and cakes were perfectly portioned—not too big or small—and very satisfying. However, I did feel that the sushi toppings looked slightly aged. Although it was just one night’s stay, it was very enjoyable overall. I would love to visit again if I have another chance to stay in Akiu Onsen!

    Bringing my pool-loving grandchild

    This was our first visit to Zuiho, bringing along my grandchild who loves the pool. The lobby and hallways had a nostalgic feel reminiscent of the Showa bubble era, but the room was renovated, spacious, and comfortable. Except for the reversed faucet lever in the washroom and the lack of an auto-lock door, we had a pleasant stay. I read reviews mentioning weak Wi-Fi beforehand, so I brought a router with me and was able to use my iPad without issues—proving how important it is to check reviews. There were also comments about crowded elevators being hard to access during busy times; indeed, during Golden Week in May, this turned out to be true as expected. My grandchild thoroughly enjoyed sliding down the pool's water slide multiple times and feeding koi fish—it was a fulfilling experience for them. Four generations of women from our family (all born in dragon years) joined this trip; even my elderly mother enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play at the pool. At dinner buffet time, it seemed difficult for my elderly mother to navigate due to long lines obscuring what food options were available. However, we all enjoyed delicious dishes like fatty tuna sashimi (toro), crab legs, steak—and eventually discovered sushi towards the end. Regarding onsen facilities: upon arrival only one outdoor bath was available; however next morning there were four baths open after rotation changes occurred between genders' areas overnight schedule-wise—though personally felt reversing such arrangements might better suit guests since mornings tend less conducive leisurely soaking outdoors compared evenings typically quieter atmosphere-wise overall female-specific preferences stricter scrutiny likely applies here contextually speaking generalizing somewhat admittedly subjective observation basis alone nonetheless validly     The meals were excellent.

    We stayed as a group of three, including my parents and myself. The 12-tatami mat Japanese-style room felt much more spacious than expected, and being on the 9th floor, the mountain view from the window was excellent. Although the building had an old-fashioned feel, features like the luxurious and spacious entrance lobby, a pond with koi fish, carpeted hallways, and elevators with outdoor views gave a sense of how grand this high-class ryokan must have been when it was first built. The dinner buffet was outstanding. The crab and beef tongue were particularly delicious. With a wide variety of Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes available—far too many to try them all—it was truly satisfying. Items like beef tongue, sushi, steak, ramen noodles, pasta dishes, tempura were freshly prepared on-site so you could enjoy them warm; this was especially impressive. The breakfast buffet also exceeded expectations with made-to-order omelets and fresh fruits that were delightful. It was great to enjoy Sendai specialties such as beef tongue dishes (including tail soup), sasa-kamaboko fish cakes or zunda mochi desserts alongside other regional favorites during both meals! The onsen had just the right temperature; despite being quite busy at times due its popularity among guests there still remained plenty space ensuring comfort throughout experience overall! Though it's far away making frequent visits difficult—I would love return someday again because staying here left lasting impression positively memorable moments shared together family trip alike!

    Relaxing Onsen and Japanese Sake

    We checked in early to relax at the Onsen and headed straight to enjoy it. There are six open-air baths, and with the rotation system between the check-in day and the next morning, we were able to experience all six baths, each offering a unique charm. For dinner, we added the "Premium All-You-Can-Drink" option. Since it seemed like a great opportunity to savor Miyagi Prefecture's sake, we decided to order it. The recommended sake allowed us to enjoy distinct flavors as described. However, since it was limited to 90 minutes, a slightly longer duration would have been better.

    Everything was good except for the staff wearing masks.

    After a year, the dinner buffet was still as varied and good as ever. For breakfast, there was a line for rice and miso soup, so I would like staff to be stationed there. Whenever we come here, my children always say they are very satisfied. However, while the staff were very nice, I noticed that everyone I saw was wearing masks. In customer service jobs, smiles are most important, and masks seem to reject that notion. The mask-wearing rate was so high it didn't seem like an individual choice, which felt strange to me. Some people might dislike not wearing masks; however, at the same time many people like me dislike when they are worn. Is it right for future generations to live their entire lives in a society where everyone wears masks? I would appreciate your consideration on this matter.

    Stayed at the same time last year It was comfortable, so I visited again. Warm hospitality, a wide variety of buffet Spacious bathhouse. It was a wonderful wedding anniversary. I was surprised by the response that using a smartphone is okay in the changing room. Is it really okay?

    The New Year's dishes were luxurious.

    The tuna was incredibly delicious. There were abalone and crab, and dinner was very tasty. I hope breakfast can be improved a bit more. The bath was spacious and very comfortable. The Room was also kept very clean.

    The best dinner buffet ever.

    As the title suggests, it was a wonderful buffet. I travel across the whole country, but I have never experienced a buffet with braised shark fin or sushi with fatty tuna and medium fatty tuna, and I was impressed with the quality that rivals high-end sushi restaurants. My husband and I were talking about how amazing this quality is for a buffet. In addition, the scallops, beef tongue, zunda mochi, handmade cakes, and the strawberries were all extra-large and very satisfying. The lobby inside the building was surprisingly spacious, with koi swimming around, creating a luxurious atmosphere. Although we didn't use it this time, it seemed that the indoor pool is available year-round. Of course, the Onsen was also wonderful.

    We had a very good time.

    I have used Hotel Zuibou several times. Especially during the New Year holidays, the price is higher than usual, but the evening buffet includes items like fatty tuna, and the meals are enhanced, giving a New Year's feel, making the stay worthwhile. However, because I like it, I must say that I am not fond of the congestion during check-in. The staff is doing their best to handle it. I feel this is an issue for the management to address. I believe one of the popular features of Zuibou is the buffet. I was quite satisfied this time as well, but I was concerned about the New Year's soba. While I appreciate the service of delivering it to the room, I think the staff is doing their best, but it was a bit cold, and the noodles were clumped together, which affected the taste, which is a minus for Zuibou, known for its delicious meals. I believe this is an issue for the management, not the staff, and I wrote this hoping for improvement. The constant smiling service, such as the send-off on the return bus, was very impressive. Since it is one of my favorite hotels, I wrote about the points that concerned me this time. Lastly, I was also concerned about the difficulty in purchasing koi food. While most people understand it properly, there was a family giving something unclear to the koi, and I cautioned them. Of course, if that was allowed, it would have been fine, but since the food is sold in the souvenir corner and is the best for the koi, I think clearer signage near the pond is necessary. I also conveyed this to the souvenir staff. I am leaving this comment because it would be sad if the koi's health deteriorated due to being fed anything indiscriminately. Despite saying various things, I like the hotel and would like to visit again. When I went in spring before, the cherry blossoms were very beautiful. If I have the opportunity, I would like to visit again during the slightly warmer cherry blossom season.
