    The staff’s greeting...

The staff’s greetings are outstanding. The Facility and Rooms are frequently renovated, so everything is spotless. The dinner and breakfast venues also feel fresh, and you can really see the ongoing effort to keep updating the menu, interior design, and even the lighting. The food is stylish with a wide variety of dishes. The dessert corner at dinner is especially delicious, with baked sweets and cakes made using various fruits. Personally, I was happy to see blueberries on the buffet given the season. Marriott never disappoints wherever you stay in Japan or abroad, but Yamanakako was particularly memorable!

Spacious Rooms and a Delicious Breakfast

We were able to relax comfortably in the spacious room, and it was conveniently located just a short drive from Lake Yamanaka. The breakfast was very delicious.

I have some concerns about whether the pricing is well balanced.

I stayed in early August. As mentioned in other Reviews, perhaps due to the Hotel’s size, there is no shop on-site, so you need to buy anything you may need in advance. I also checked in early and it was quiet, which was nice. ●What I liked It was the day of a nearby event on the first night, but I didn’t attend. Dinner was actually less crowded and very calm, which I really appreciated. The restaurant staff were polished and their conversation skills were impressive. Some Hotels have many small Rooms, but this Room was spacious, which was great. Breakfast buffets are usually crowded everywhere, but here you can write down items like omelets to order without lining up, so it was stress-free. ●What I didn’t like 1) Since it was August this may be unavoidable to some extent, but there seemed to be children in the Room above us running around, and we repeatedly heard loud jumping noises. The next morning they started running from 6:00 a.m., and it woke us up. Paying a certain amount for an Accommodation only to have this kind of guest environment makes me not want to stay again. 2) Similar to (1), at dinner on the second night there were parents who allowed their children to scream and run around in the restaurant. Even as a parent myself, I found it unacceptable. No matter how well-dressed people are, it doesn’t mean much if basic manners aren’t observed. It was also disappointing that the restaurant staff did not say anything. 3) This may be unavoidable since it seems like a renovation of an older Hotel building, but the bathroom area in the Room is far too small. Also, perhaps to prevent shampoo etc. from being taken away—but why are they fixed so high that you can only reach them while standing? You can’t use them while seated. Maybe it’s designed with the assumption that guests will use the large public bath as standard; still, this part is disappointing as well. The showerhead also doesn’t match the water pressure and only trickles out slightly. I don’t like being close to other people so I didn’t use the large public bath; for that reason these issues were especially disappointing for me. One more minor point: the TV in the Room is too small and hard to see from bed. The place has a certain level of prestige overall and that part was good—precisely because of that, these smaller details feel like such a missed opportunity. I hope you will make improvements going forward.

Wonderful service with a warm smile.

The staff member who took care of us at dinner was so gracious and always smiling that it made us feel genuinely happy as well. As we were leaving, I told her that her service was wonderful and that she was like an actress, and she replied, “That’s the greatest joy for me.” I truly felt she put the guest first.

I was able to relax and unwind in a quiet setting!

I was able to relax quietly and take it easy. Many international guests were staying as well, but overall it was calm and comfortable. The room was clean, and it was great that the in-room bath was an Onsen. Both breakfast and dinner were buffet-style and delicious. There was a wide variety of options, with plenty of desserts, and everything tasted great. However, it was disappointing that there was no car charging station, so I couldn’t charge my vehicle.

Clean Rooms and a relaxing Onsen, but the food is

We stayed in a 41 m² Japanese-Western style room. It was spacious, very clean, and the tatami room was especially useful. The large public bath was also spacious, with high-quality Onsen water, and the open-air bath felt great. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. Dinner was a choice of main dish plus a half buffet, but on both days of our Multiple Night Stay the mains tasted like “Is this really four-star?” On the first day my husband chose chicken and I chose pork, but what is “ratatouille sauce”? Isn’t ratatouille supposed to be a side dish? We had no choice but to try to fix it with the salt and pepper on the table. On the second day it was salmon and some kind of fish sauté (I’m not even sure what it was), again with ratatouille. The salmon had a very strong smell as if it were spoiled; we considered asking for a replacement, but after yesterday’s meal we assumed it would be the same, so we barely ate it and left most of it. I hope the chef notices when seeing that untouched plate. Some items at the half buffet were tasty and enjoyable, but on day two everything was exactly the same—this doesn’t work for a Multiple Night Stay. Breakfast was good as well, but again it was basically the same menu every day. Meals are one of the pleasures of traveling, so we won’t be returning.

    I was satisfied with everything.

The entire property was impeccably clean, and the staff’s kind hospitality left a strong impression. During my stay, I also noticed that the lounge services were excellent, and I was very satisfied. In addition to the delicious breakfast, I was truly touched by the thoughtful attention—such as staff offering refills of coffee. Even at departure, they kindly saw me off, and I felt comfortable throughout my stay. I would definitely like to stay here again.

    A simple and comfortable Hotel

This was my first stay, and it was very comfortable. Even though the Accommodation was busy, the Japanese staff were attentive and professional, and the international staff were also friendly, smiling, and well-mannered—overall the service felt better than elsewhere. I also appreciated that the buffet included local ingredients and regional dishes. The building and Rooms were clean, simple, and uncluttered in a good way. However, I would have liked an air purifier in the Room (since individual temperature control wasn’t available; when I opened the window for ventilation, pollen became an issue). Also, by chance a small dog in a nearby Room kept barking constantly, which was difficult. Since it may be hard to enforce etiquette for guests traveling with dogs, it might be worth reconsidering room assignments or soundproofing/equipment. The private Onsen in the Room was very relaxing. Overall, it was excellent.

We had a very satisfying stay!

I stayed here to celebrate my birthday. As a Diamond member benefit, I received early check-in, late check-out, and one complimentary drink with dinner, which I wasn’t expecting and was very happy about. The dinner buffet, where you can choose your main dish, was the perfect amount and very delicious. Breakfast was also plentiful, and I was completely satisfied. Since the Room had a private Onsen bath, I didn’t use the public bath. I could soak whenever I had time, which made for an excellent stay. One small point: because the Room bath is free-flowing, there was a constant sound of running water that felt a bit loud. I adjusted the water flow by lightly placing a towel near the outlet so it wouldn’t make noise, and it stopped bothering me. Still, it would be nice if it could be turned off at least at night.

    Everyone is polite.

From the moment I arrived at the Hotel, I felt welcomed. My luggage was delivered to the Room, which was clean and well-prepared, making me feel comfortable. The staff at the restaurant, from the male manager to all team members, were polite, and the female staff's attentive service was exceptional. I would love to stay here again when visiting Yamanashi Prefecture.

    After all, Hotel

Dinner and breakfast included, with an extra bed added, used by 3 adults. About the facility: The room size was satisfactory. However, since an extra bed was added, the sofa was removed, leaving only one table and one chair in the room. After calling the front desk, two steel chairs were brought in to address this issue. Considering it was for 3 adults, the lack of chairs should have been anticipated. The public bath was average—neither impressive nor disappointing. There were no standout features. Some areas of cleaning in both the room (including water facilities) and public bath seemed overlooked. Attention to detail is key. About meals: Both dinner and breakfast were satisfying overall. Dinner included a main dish with a buffet-style selection for other items. While understandable due to staffing limitations, considering the price point, a course meal would have been preferable. Compared to ryokans at similar prices, it felt somewhat underwhelming. About service: The staff's response was excellent and professional. Given current circumstances with many multinational staff members present, their effort in learning Japanese was commendable and noticeable.

The large public bath is very relaxing.

The large public bath includes a sauna and is very relaxing. Prices are higher during the high season, but the bath helped relieve my fatigue. Meals are reasonably priced.

    - The staff at check-in were quick and efficient. Their greetings were polite, reflecting thorough training. - Room: Plenty of space to place items, making it very convenient. While a larger table in the Japanese-style room would be easier to use, it might obstruct the space needed for laying out futons. - Public Bath: There are enough washing stations with individual partitions, which is great. The THANN amenities were highly satisfying. The bath itself was spacious enough to feel comfortable! Having ReFa hair dryers available after bathing was a nice touch; however, there was an unpleasant amount of hair on the floor (it had piled up!). While cleaning may not always keep up, providing tools like lint rollers or quick mops would be appreciated as a countermeasure. - Dining: The half-buffet dinner had excellent buffet options but unfortunately featured main meat dishes that were overly fatty (both in content and quantity), which I couldn’t finish. However, the buffet selection was very fulfilling! Staff service was attentive, and the restaurant atmosphere was delightful—I ate until I was completely satisfied. For breakfast, we loved the system where egg dishes could be ordered by writing on paper and delivered directly to our table—this eliminated long lines often seen at hotel egg stations and impressed everyone greatly! - Diamond member late check-out benefits were initially overlooked but applied after confirming on the morning of departure. However, since it wasn’t during regular check-out hours (possibly due to fewer staff?), there were no luggage assistance or shuttle service farewells provided—it felt slightly lonely as a result. - The restroom near the restaurant (on the lobby floor) has toilet signs that are very hard to distinguish! In my confusion one morning...I accidentally entered the wrong gender’s restroom—ORZ. This was my first stay here overall but left me quite satisfied—I’d love to visit again for a more relaxed experience next time!

    It was comfortable!

Stayed in a Room with Onsen with my 97-year-old mother. The cleanliness and the kindness of the staff made her very happy. The buffet meals for breakfast and dinner were excellent, and I was impressed by the attentive care of the experienced staff.

    Hotel with exceptional hospitality

Although it is a Marriott, my first impression upon arrival was that it didn’t feel very international. However, the service level exceeded my expectations and I was very satisfied. At the buffet venue, staff were attentive and quickly offered assistance whenever I seemed unsure or needed help. The front desk staff anticipated needs and provided extra services without requiring specific requests from me. One issue I encountered was the lack of towels in the public bath area. It would have been helpful to receive verbal guidance about bringing towels from your Room or borrowing them at the front desk.

    Accommodation for Adults

I stayed at a Marriott-affiliated Hotel for the first time. The meal was a half-buffet and it was delicious. The Room was cold, but when I mentioned it, they promptly brought me a blanket; the staff were very kind. During breakfast, birds were being fed near the window, allowing me to see various kinds of birds, which was delightful.

    Simple yet clean and good

This is my third stay at Marriott Yamanakako. The room is simple without unnecessary elements, but it is clean and reassuring. The room's soundproofing is excellent, and I couldn't hear the baby crying next door. At night, when I went out to eat, I spotted a fox and a deer. The tea in the room is TWG, and the amenities are THANN, which is good, but it's a bit disappointing that my hair feels rough. I had breakfast at the restaurant, and there was a wide variety, including fresh tofu from Oshino and fruits, which were good. In the morning, if you sit by the window, you can see wild birds coming to eat, which is cute. The staff's attentiveness is excellent. The tea is tastier than the coffee. Whole fruits are placed, but if you express your desire to eat them, they will cut them for you.

    It was comfortable.

I was most delighted that we could gather four generations and three families to celebrate my mother's 88th birthday. I had informed them in advance to have the beds put together, but it wasn't set up as a Hollywood twin. It seemed like a hassle to ask the staff, so my son moved them. It appears there was a lack of coordination with the staff who handled the phone call. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious.

    It was comfortable.

I was most delighted that we could gather four generations and three families to celebrate my mother's 88th birthday. During dinner, the surprise of fireworks, a message, and a birthday song for dessert made my mother and the whole family very happy. (I had requested this over the phone in advance.) We also had a Polaroid photo taken and received a message card, which became a wonderful keepsake. Thank you for taking care of us.
