    The Best Accommodation

    I’ve stayed in many places, but this was the best. The Room was clean and well maintained, and the front desk staff were very polite and attentive. There are no meals provided, but they kindly recommended nearby restaurants. I definitely want to stay here again.

    The same high quality as always.

    I stayed here three times again this year, and I’m very satisfied with the consistently pleasant service from the staff. Even when issues came up, they responded quickly and appropriately with a smile, so I was able to enjoy a comfortable stay. It may seem obvious, but more and more Hotels and Ryokans can no longer provide this level of service. Once staff get used to things, it can start to feel like an assembly line, and you’re left wondering whether they’re really listening or responding. Shinan always provides high-quality service, and I was able to leave feeling great—I’d love to visit again. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

    We were able to relax and enjoy a luxurious time.

    We stayed for two nights from the U.S. and were able to relax. The location is close to the station, making it convenient for dining and sightseeing. We also received a half bottle of sparkling wine as a birthday gift for my husband, which made our trip to Beppu truly memorable.

    We stayed here for o...

    We stayed here for our first family trip with our baby (0 years old), and it was a wonderful Ryokan that made us think, “We definitely want to come back!” The villa-style Room was very comfortable. After putting the baby to sleep upstairs on the second floor, we were able to relax and enjoy drinks together downstairs on the first floor, which was truly great. The first-floor space also felt larger than it looked in the photos, so we could spend time very comfortably. It was also convenient to have a refrigerator on both the first and second floors. Having an Onsen in the Room was amazing—we could soak as many times as we wanted at any time. The staff’s hospitality was excellent, and we felt at ease staying here even with a child. We would love to stay again.

    Could you make it a bit more guest-focused?

    This time, we stayed at Accommodation Shinryu for three nights. We were able to relax in the Onsen with no issues. However, the air conditioner in the living room was noisy. Also, the balance of soft drinks and alcohol in the refrigerator didn’t seem right—there were too many soft drinks for just two of us as a couple. If, when making a Reservation, we could choose “alcohol only,” “soft drinks only,” or the current set, it would be appreciated. A service can only be called a service when guests are happy with it. I mentioned these points to the male staff member at the front desk when we checked out. The air purifier also couldn’t use its humidifying function. Even though we have stayed many times, we had to fill out all details again at check-in; after our first stay, it used to be just our names. We really like this Accommodation, so it was a bit disappointing.

    Everything is exceptional.

    From the moment we finished check-in and opened the Room door, it felt like stepping into another world! The bath was at just the right temperature, and above all, the hot stone sauna was absolutely wonderful. All our fatigue disappeared in an instant. The Room on the second floor was also clean—this Accommodation truly deserves to be called outstanding in every way!

    The same high quality as always.

    We stayed in the Ran building for two nights. We arrived an hour early, but we were told everything was ready and were allowed to enter, which was a great help. I think it just happened to work out this time, but it truly helped us. As always, we were very satisfied with the Room and the Onsen. The staff were also pleasant and welcoming, making our trip enjoyable. Thank you very much. We would love to visit again.

    An Accommodation where you can savor the luxury of time

    This is my 4th or 5th stay here, usually for 2–3 nights. What I love most is the freedom to spend my time as I like. Each villa has its own Onsen, available anytime, with plenty of hot water; you can adjust the temperature to your preference, and it’s spacious enough to be truly relaxing. Since there are no meals provided, you’re not tied to set dining times and can take it easy at your own pace. The refrigerator is also conveniently divided into two levels (freezer and fridge), and there’s a microwave oven as well, making everything very practical. As someone who worries a bit, I would appreciate having a lock on the entrance to the second-floor living room and bedroom area. I’m always able to feel refreshed here—thank you very much.

    A Private Open-Air Bath for Your First Anniversary Trip

    As you enter the reception, you are greeted with a delightful fragrance and kind staff. The staff naturally provided information about nearby restaurants and bars, as if they knew your desire to explore the local dining scene. They also gave clear directions, which was very helpful. The accommodation building features a Hinoki bath named "Shin." Both the indoor and outdoor baths were incredibly satisfying. The facility and the hot spring water exceeded expectations. It was such a wonderful day that I would love to visit again. This was on the night of August 25th.

    The Best Accommodation

    We used this for the first time on a family trip, and everything was excellent. With a toddler accompanying us, the spacious Japanese-style room made it easy to take care of them and ensured a comfortable stay. The facilities were well-equipped, and the Onsen in the guest room was spacious. Combined with its affordable pricing, we would love to stay here again.

    2 Nights, 3 Days of Onsen Bliss! Relaxing in the room with Onsen & Sauna. Enjoy at your own pace to the fullest! From morning till night, soak and unwind... A luxurious getaway for a couple's trip. We stretched our legs and arrived at Beppu Onsen while we still could. It was so enjoyable that we forgot about our busy daily lives. The staff maintained a perfect balance of attentiveness and privacy. It felt like being at home, with no outside noise disturbing us. Both body and mind were refreshed completely. This is truly an excellent accommodation - highly recommended!

    Very satisfied.

    I love Onsen, so I was taken here for a birthday trip. At first, I thought the price of around 40,000 yen for two people without meals was a bit high, but once inside, I felt it was worth it. Everything was clean and stylish with attention to detail. The Onsen and sauna temperatures could be adjusted to my liking, which made the experience absolutely perfect! However, when I woke up in the morning, I noticed bites on my feet, hips, and arms. Perhaps it happened when using the outdoor bath? But considering the season, there didn’t seem to be many insects around... It might have been mites. I hope measures can be taken to keep bedding clean so that other guests don’t experience this issue. If not for this problem, it would have been a 5-star stay! Still, we had an incredibly happy time here. Thank you so much! :)

    The benefits of the Onsen are remarkable.

    The room is incredibly spacious! I was amazed upon entering. There are toilets and refrigerators on both the first and second floors, making it perfect even for large families. The bathroom is also large (there's an open-air bath as well). I thought about taking a quick soak and going back in later, but ended up sleeping soundly on the comfortable bed. When I woke up, my skin felt so smooth... of course, I enjoyed a morning bath too! However, the parking lot was a bit challenging for me (haha). There are plenty of great dining spots nearby, and the staff kindly provided recommendations with a map. The morning set at a lovely café was fantastic! Definitely an accommodation I'd love to visit again.

    The Onsen is wonderful.

    The bath, building, and staff service were excellent. I accidentally booked a smoking room and couldn't tolerate the tobacco smell on the second floor. When I consulted the front desk, they kindly provided me with a powerful deodorizing spray. Here are some points I noticed during my stay: - It was convenient to have toilets and sinks on both the first and second floors. However, the sink height was too high and difficult to use (it would have been more user-friendly if it were about 20cm lower). - The baths, both indoor and outdoor, were fantastic. However, there was only one washing area in the indoor bath. If multiple people use it at once, waiting for your turn might be inconvenient. - There was no designated place to hang towels after using them in the bath; finding a spot to dry them was challenging. - For group stays, it would be helpful if there were several baskets available for storing clothes during changing. Overall, I felt that some of the water-related facilities and amenities around the baths could be improved. Families staying here might find issues with sink height or limited washing areas inconvenient. That said, the Onsen experience is exceptional compared to others I've visited—definitely worth considering for another visit! It's also an accommodation I'd recommend to friends.

    The perfect accommodation for a relaxing stay

    The facilities are exceptional, even though they are not mentioned on the introduction page. From soft toilet paper and tissues to sturdy hair ties, unlimited Netflix access, and even an automatic toilet lid—it's almost intimidating how advanced the toilets are. While most onsen accommodations provide a basic relaxing environment, it's rare to find a private onsen-equipped accommodation with such attention to detail at this price point. Beyond the facilities, two aspects stood out for me: first, there is no room service like futon setup, so staff do not enter your room; second, since it’s a standalone house accommodation, you don’t have to worry about noise from neighboring rooms. These were significant advantages for me personally. As for the onsen itself—simply perfect. A large bath is always great but having both indoor and outdoor options in a private setting makes it unbeatable. Although I didn’t interact much with the staff during my stay, the trainee (probably) who assisted during check-in and check-out was very polite and professional. If I visit Beppu again in the future, I would definitely consider staying here once more. One small note of caution (this might just be specific to me): The stairs are slightly steep. Both floors have restrooms and refrigerators so frequent movement isn’t necessary; however, since futons are located upstairs while the onsen is downstairs, if you plan to indulge in lazy back-and-forth trips between your bed and bath like I did—you might want to check other rooms or arrangements that better suit this lifestyle!

    The private Onsen was amazing!

    My companion had previously stayed and said it was very good, so this time, when we visited Beppu, we stayed for two nights. Since each building is separate, we didn't have to worry about others, and it was perfect for families with children, offering a full sense of privacy. Thank you for your thoughtful birthday gift. (I forgot to take the drink with me... sob) Moreover, the best part was being able to enjoy the onsen with its wonderful water quality at any time! The ease of being able to casually enter in the morning or at night whenever we felt like it was truly appreciated by our onsen-loving family. At night, when going to sleep, there was a small "clattering" sound, which was the only thing that bothered us. On the first day, it was raining, so we thought it might be the rain, but it continued on the second day, so we weren't sure what it was... Was it the sound of the onsen? We could still sleep, but it would be even better if it could be improved. Overall, it was a truly wonderful property. Thank you very much!
