    Despite the high ratings.

At check-in, the explanation was given by a foreign staff member. I have absolutely no prejudice against foreigners, but the Facility information was delivered in broken English and we could barely understand it.\nAlso, at dinner we were supposed to be picked up at our Room by cart to go to the dining building, but no one came even after the scheduled time and there was no contact. We walked there ourselves, but when we arrived there were no staff members and no way to call anyone, so we were left waiting at the entrance for a while.\nThe next morning, we did receive cart Shuttle Service for breakfast, but when being taken back to our Room after eating, we were repeatedly asked what time we planned to check out, which was very frustrating. We still had nearly two hours until checkout; I wanted to relax with my elementary-school-aged child and enjoy the Onsen in our Room before checking out at our own pace.\nAt checkout as well, I contacted you as instructed and was told payment would be handled in the Room. However, even after 10 minutes no one came, so we went ourselves to the dining building.\nThis was unacceptable—I've never been treated like this at a Hotel of this level.\nLastly, please clean the transport carts; they are dirty.

    It was absolutely wonderful.

Although we stayed for only one night, we were very satisfied. We were able to forget the hustle and bustle of the city, relax, and enjoy being surrounded by nature. The staff were wonderful, and it was an Accommodation we would like to visit again. Thank you very much.

A lush, green Hakone forest wrapped in the rainy-season sky. In a private villa with an Onsen, light the wood-burning stove on a cool afternoon. Sit beside your dog and quietly watch the flickering flames. All you hear is the gentle sound of rain falling steadily. Amid busy days, the mental clutter and noise that unknowingly build up begin to fade away, little by little. An Accommodation that offers the luxury of doing nothing and time to reset your mind. You’ll be counting down the days until your next visit.

This time, four families stayed in three villas. It was a perfect stay—so much so that it truly felt disappointing to have only one night. Spending time gathered around the wood-burning stove and soaking in the quiet of the forest after the rain was deeply soothing, allowing us to relax and enjoy an unhurried pace surrounded by nature. For both dinner and breakfast, we enjoyed Japanese cuisine at “Tawaraishi.” The harmony between the charming space—over 100 years old—and the dishes was wonderful, making it a truly special experience. We were reminded once again of Villa 1/f’s appeal: even with a large group, you can stay together while still enjoying just the right sense of privacy. Next time, we would love to return for a Multiple Night Stay and visit again in a different season.

This was my second stay. Many of the staff are from overseas, which I don’t mind in itself, but the service felt awkward and honestly didn’t match the price. The Room is lovely, but interacting with the staff was stressful overall... My family also said we probably wouldn’t stay here again. It’s disappointing, because the space itself is wonderful.

An even more wonderful Accommodation than expected

I had stayed in the Hotel building before, and I’d been wanting to try one of the villas as well. Surrounded by trees, it felt like a resort tucked away in the mountains overseas. Enjoying an exquisite Japanese meal in a beautifully preserved building with over 100 years of history made for a truly wonderful time. It seems each villa has a different design, so next time I’d love to stay in another one. When I stayed at the Hotel last time, I even saw wild deer—hopefully I’ll be lucky enough to see them again next time. Next time, I’d like to visit in summer and enjoy the cool air.

    Tranquil nature surrounding the Facility

I stayed in a cottage at Hakone Retreat Före in the forests of Hakone. What surprised me first was the profound quiet of nature surrounding the Facility. Just being in the woods makes time feel as if it slows down. The kaiseki dinner was truly memorable. Each dish was beautifully and thoughtfully presented, made with exceptionally fresh ingredients, and had a gentle flavor that felt nourishing and easy on the body. It also left a strong impression that the head chef came to our table to greet us so humbly. His character seemed to shine through in the food—so delicious that even international guests couldn’t help but be impressed. The Onsen was wonderful as well, with soft water that seemed to envelop the body. Even more luxurious is being able to enjoy Hakone’s natural hot spring source privately, at your own pace. That uninterrupted time felt genuinely restorative. The Room was spacious and calm, perfect for relaxing. At night, the sky fills with stars—an incredibly quiet view you can’t experience in the city. There is also an on-site café and open outdoor spaces, and spending time there while enjoying charcoal-roasted sweet potatoes was another highlight. Rather than simply staying overnight, it’s a place filled with thoughtful touches that enrich your entire stay. Hakone’s nature, cuisine, Onsen, and atmosphere— all are in quiet harmony, making this an Accommodation I’d love to return to.

It would be perfect with a bit more consideration for the check-in process!

I was very satisfied with this favorite Accommodation and appreciated your hospitality again this time. As a point for future improvement, the check-in process was different from before: after completing the procedure at Tawaraishikaku, we went to the Room and received another explanation there. It wasn’t bad, but as a repeat guest, I felt it was unnecessary, so I think it would be better to consolidate it into either one.

Extremely disappointing, especially the customer service.

The service often felt inconsistent, so the experience was disappointing. What surprised me most was that the breakfast venue was extremely cold—about the same as outside—and not heated at all. Because you can’t go to breakfast in loungewear, I had to eat in my regular clothes with my coat on, worrying about getting them dirty. The food also got cold right away and was ruined, making it a terrible morning. The Onsen in the Room was nice, but I was shocked by how distorted the bathroom mirror was, so I think it should be fixed.

Spacious grounds, refined kaiseki cuisine, and attentive service

I have visited One by F several times over the years. Although I haven't stayed at the Hotel yet, I really like the cottages with Onsen. I was initially concerned about the management change, but it has improved compared to before. While many Ryokans in Hakone are small and luxurious, this place offers vast grounds where you can take relaxing walks, which is great for your health. The meals used to be kaiseki-style with a lot of variety and large portions, but now they are served in appropriate portions and taste even better. Although the chef's name isn't listed on the menu, you can sense thoughtfulness and philosophy in these dishes. The service has also improved; unlike when there were many Chinese staff members before, there has been a change in personnel, resulting in more polite language use and better hospitality overall. Overall, I have no complaints at all and will probably stay here again when visiting Hakone.

    Although I had seen ...

Although I had seen some negative comments beforehand, my stay turned out to be truly wonderful. The rainy weather made the time spent in the villa a deep retreat, offering a moment to rejuvenate both mind and body. The over 100-year-old architecture "Tawaraishi" provided an exceptional setting for enjoying Japanese cuisine, where the space and dishes harmonized beautifully. Both dinner and breakfast were highly satisfying. I genuinely wish to return during another season for another memorable stay. Thank you very much!

I stay here to enjoy the breakfast BLT sandwich.

This was my fourth retreat and second time using the villa. The main purpose of my stay was to enjoy the BLT sandwich for breakfast. For villa stays, Japanese-style meals are usually the default option, but due to my difficulty with stairs, they kindly accommodated me by switching to a buffet each time. The Room No. 7 I stayed in this time featured abundant use of wood, and from the moment I entered, there was a wonderful scent that truly soothed me. However, the bathwater temperature was extremely high and unusable as it was. Even when trying to add cold water, the shower barely reached or didn’t reach at all, so my children had to fetch water with buckets repeatedly to adjust it. The complimentary socks sold for 1,000 yen at check-in were a nice touch; there were always impressive baked goods prepared as well as plenty of drinks stocked in the refrigerator—services that satisfied our entire family.

The facility is excellent, but there is room for improvement in customer service.

This was my second stay. The Room with a wood-burning stove, the open-air bath, the Facility, and the cuisine were as excellent as ever. However, perhaps due to accommodating inbound guests, there seemed to be an increase in foreign staff handling customer service. There were some disappointments, such as delays in retrieving deposited shoes and dishes being introduced as "Miso Soup" or "Fried Tofu (Ganmodoki)." It requires some level of acceptance.

Escape the hustle and enjoy a peaceful time.

It was a bit rainy, but the only sounds were birds chirping and raindrops falling. We lit the fireplace, played some music, and had a wonderful time. This was our second stay at the Villa. This time, there was another Villa relatively close by, but we didn’t see any other guests during our stay. The meals here—both dinner and breakfast—are truly delicious. While we’ve seen comments from others mentioning issues with service or cleanliness, we didn’t experience any problems in these areas during our visit. Thanks to this, we were able to enjoy a very special holiday. One suggestion: since bath temperature preferences vary by person, it might be helpful to ask guests during check-in whether they prefer hotter or cooler water. In our case, the bath in our Villa was initially lukewarm, so we had to call and request an adjustment—a minor inconvenience. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would love to return if given the opportunity!

    A Time of Abundance

This was my first overnight trip with my mother since the COVID-19 pandemic began. After losing my father during these challenging five years, we decided to take a break and visit a nearby Onsen. We chose 1/f, which had been on our list of accommodations to visit for some time. Unaware that the management had changed from "Onko Chishin," we found out it is now operated by Oriental Hotels & Resorts, ensuring stable service quality—and it met our expectations. Our family trips in the past were always at timeshare condominiums where we held memberships, so this all-inclusive accommodation with full-service meals was an exceptional experience for my mother. Since my mother needs to manage cholesterol (animal fats) and I need to control carbohydrates, the Japanese-style meals were one of the deciding factors for us. The focus seemed more on quality than quantity. Dinner and breakfast were served in different rooms; the serene counter table overlooking a courtyard during breakfast was particularly lovely. As others have mentioned, breakfast mainly consisted of rice accompaniments—it would be nice if fresh vegetable salads were included as well. The Woodside Dining area appeared popular among inbound guests based on what I observed from outside. The coffee at the café lounge was excellent, and I appreciated being able to choose oat milk lattes as well. Even in villas, staff promptly responded with just one phone call. Moving around within the property using electric carts felt like a mini attraction! They also offer shuttle service within 1–2 km outside their grounds (e.g., Seven-Eleven or museums), though I forgot exact distances. While spacious overall, it took about five minutes to walk between buildings like Fore—just right in terms of size. Overall satisfaction was high; however, my mother commented that cleaning could be improved slightly—hence her reduced rating—but personally speaking as her daughter, it didn’t bother me much! Despite visiting during late August’s extreme heatwave conditions elsewhere felt entirely different here—the air made everything much more comfortable physically! Initially hesitant about enjoying an Onsen trip mid-summer due potentially unbearable heat soaking sessions turned pleasantly surprised how cool Sengokuhara actually remained instead! Would love returning again someday soon!

The most satisfying Hotel stay I've ever had!

We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days from 9/25 to 9/27, as a couple. We stayed in Villa No. 8, with breakfast and dinner included. Our goal for this trip was to relax and enjoy nature while also experiencing a digital detox. The Villa had three main rooms: ① A room with a sofa, wood stove, and speakers. ② A room with a closet, refrigerator, and even a grand piano. ③ The bedroom. Additionally, there was a bathroom, a shower room, and an outdoor open-air bath. Every facility was excellent, leaving no room for complaints. Personally, the grand piano was a delightful surprise, and we enjoyed playing it together, creating wonderful memories. From my partner's perspective, she appreciated the well-stocked amenities, especially the abundance of towels, which she found impressive. Outside the Villa, we dined at the Tawaraseki restaurant, used the café (lounge), and relaxed on the terrace. The meals at Tawaraseki were of exceptional quality, and we were glad we chose a meal-inclusive plan. Dining in a private room allowed us to enjoy a calm and intimate meal together. The café and terrace offered complimentary coffee and popcorn for guests, and the services were excellent. There were also chess, Othello, and puzzles available. Perhaps due to the season, all the spaces were uncrowded, allowing us to relax fully. The staff were always welcoming and accommodating. Check-in and check-out were done at the Villa, making the entire experience stress-free from start to finish. We are already looking forward to reserving a Villa again for our next trip.

    Tawaraishi

This was our second stay at the villa, and since the food at Tawaraishi was excellent during our previous visit, we chose a meal-inclusive plan this time as well. Both breakfast and dinner featured Kyoto cuisine that highlighted the natural flavors of the ingredients and were delicious. This time, we stayed in a new villa that was under construction during our last visit. It was very clean and pleasant. However, the Onsen left a somewhat weak impression. That part was disappointing, but overall it was an excellent experience.

Cool and peaceful stay in summer

Using IKYU, we have stayed at various Ryokan and Hotels with our children. While I usually don't post reviews, I decided to share my thoughts as the accommodation made efforts to improve based on existing reviews. Located in the quiet mountains of Sengokuhara, the property is divided into a Hotel building and villas with private Onsen. Despite visiting during Obon week, check-in and check-out were smooth, and we enjoyed a comfortable stay in a clean villa for three people. The villa was equipped with lightweight ReFa hair dryers, Salonia irons, Osaji amenities, and plenty of complimentary beverages. The room facilities were well-equipped. For breakfast and dinner, we dined on kaiseki courses and Japanese set meals in a historic building just a short walk from the new villas. Meals were served in private rooms where we enjoyed delicious dishes. The children's dinner was generous with items like fried foods, steak, chawanmushi (savory egg custard), sashimi—offering quite large portions! The Hotel area is about a 10-minute walk away and features public baths, relaxation spaces, and a café. Villa guests can use carts or shuttle service to access these areas. Although not very spacious, the public bath had Osaji skincare products & Waphyto body care items that smelled wonderful. At the café, coffee/tea was complimentary; during summer they also offered shaved ice and sparklers as part of their services! Shared spaces had families with children as well as young couples or international guests enjoying themselves while maintaining an overall calm atmosphere. Although there weren’t child-sized yukata available or some staff seemed unfamiliar due to being new hires—they all left positive impressions including foreign staff members who responded kindly if any issues arose. While accommodations in Hakone can be expensive yet disappointing at times—this place exceeded expectations! As premium members through IKYU.com benefits—we enjoyed cakes at their café along with alcoholic beverages during meals plus ¥4,000 worth within facilities onsite! Below are some points noted for improvement: ◯ Please make internal phone extension numbers easier to locate by displaying them near telephones. ◯ Indoor wear provided for villa guests felt too much like plain white pajamas—not suitable attire outside such as when visiting baths. ◯ Villa Onsen water temperature ran high; even after adding cold shower water it quickly reheated (staff later mentioned adjustments could be made). ◯ Children's menu leaned heavily towards fried items; fewer dishes closer aligned toward adult options might work better. ◯ Breakfast offerings included many salty side dishes—placing rice pots directly on tables alongside lighter options like salads/yogurt would enhance balance. ◯ With many international visitors present—it’s important clear signage/rules regarding bath usage are provided near entrances. Thank you again for your hospitality!

    Satisfied.

Three Ladies' Getaway. Seeking a cool retreat nearby, we headed to the forested heights of Hakone. Opening the glass doors on the terrace side fully, we were greeted by the soothing sound of cicadas, enhancing the summer escape atmosphere. The much-anticipated dinner was served in a beautifully traditional room built during the Taisho era. Each dish was not overly elaborate but focused on bringing out the natural flavors of its ingredients—absolutely delicious, and we finished every bite. While almost everything—the environment, room, and meals—was perfect, one small disappointment was that despite specifying three women at reservation time, amenities and pajamas were prepared for two men and two women instead. This might be unavoidable; however, it would have been helpful if there were adjustable lighting around the sink area. As three older ladies trying to do makeup in dim light proved challenging! Still, we thoroughly enjoyed this luxurious space away from daily life and immersed ourselves in nature's beauty—a truly satisfying experience. Thank you to all staff members who took care of us!

    Second Visit

I usually don't write reviews, but I felt there was a personal discrepancy between the reviews on IKYU and my actual experience, so I decided to share my thoughts. The area is pleasantly cool with low humidity, a stark contrast to where I live in Kanagawa. It might be one of the best summer retreats within an easy distance from the city center. I stayed in both Building 8, which has been around for some time, and the newly built Building 16. Building 8 offers a private feel with its spacious layout and scenic views (unobstructed forest views from the windows without walls or visibility from other buildings). The room allowed me to enjoy luxurious moments while listening to my favorite music on high-end audio equipment provided. Building 16 had slightly less impressive views compared to Building 8 but featured a new structure with an overall sense of cleanliness. Its barrier-free design was also commendable. If anything, I found it slightly disappointing that it came equipped with smart speakers instead of high-end audio systems. Dinner was served in a private room within a historic Japanese house where we enjoyed Kyoto-style kaiseki cuisine. While not overly reliant on extravagant ingredients, each dish reflected the chef's expertise, sensitivity, and meticulous care—highlighted by refined dashi flavors that made for an exquisite meal. Breakfast was also served in this Japanese house (we were guided to another private room different from dinner by chance—allowing us to enjoy varied scenery). The breakfast included premium-quality dried horse mackerel rich in flavor and perfectly seasoned rolled omelets showcasing excellent ingredient selection and culinary skill. Regarding service—which some reviews seem critical about—I personally believe you can't fully understand until you experience it yourself firsthand. The young staff members exuded genuine hospitality; their desire for guests' enjoyment during their stay shone through clearly. Rather than flawlessly executing polished services alone, they conveyed heartfelt warmth that left me departing happily with gratitude—a true testament to this accommodation’s retreat theme aimed at rejuvenating both body and mind through its location as well as exceptional service provided by management teams like chefs or staff alike. Lastly: To the female staff member who attended us during breakfast service up until checkout today (regretfully didn’t catch your name), your smile will undoubtedly bring success wherever life takes you next! Wishing you all happiness ahead—and thank you again for creating such wonderful memories today!

    I visited again afte...

I visited again after a long time as a new building was completed. The cuisine has changed from the previous luxurious creative dishes to Kyoto-style kaiseki, which is simple but high-quality and delicious, possibly due to the change in management. The staff has also changed, and while some reviews are critical, there is absolutely no need for concern. The service is excellent. The onsen water is clear, soft, and very pleasant. The new building features a barrier-free design; while it may not have the intricate details of the old building, many might prefer this style.

The room size, facilities, and amenities meet a certain standard. However, most of the staff are foreign workers with low customer service skills, and their overly poor and amateurish service left us speechless. According to the staff at check-in, the bath in the room is "technically" an onsen. What does "technically" even mean? We had meals in a building that was once a historic ryokan, but due to the lack of explanation about the dishes and poor serving manners, both our enjoyment and taste were diminished. While I have stayed at accommodations with many foreign staff before, this is my first time encountering one so poorly trained. Even with broken Japanese or explanations, if hospitality can be felt it leaves a good impression and makes for an enjoyable experience; however, this was on par with convenience store clerks.

    What a waste!

Thank you for your hospitality at the end of the year. Despite being close to the national highway, it was a quiet room, and experiencing a wood stove for the first time allowed us to enjoy a relaxing time. The meals were also delicious. However, I was surprised by how incompetent some of the staff were. Upon arriving by car and giving my name, they couldn't confirm it (perhaps because they couldn't read Japanese lists as they were foreigners?), and I was handed a guest list and asked to find my own name. After finding my name on the list and pointing it out, they finally understood, then told me to park next to an electric pole and wait. It would have been better if there had been an explanation like "someone will come to pick you up," but instead I was just told to wait without any information until eventually a cart came for us, allowing us to check in at our room which was comfortable with smoking allowed on its terrace—a rarity these days. From check-in until dinner everything went smoothly; however when dinner came around things started going wrong as expected: firstly we weren't seated correctly (this happened again during breakfast), while bringing each dish one-by-one is fine normally plates should be cleared before new ones arrive—here though it felt like steps were skipped entirely! The worst part occurred when soy sauce wasn't brought with sashimi despite repeatedly pressing call button no one came; after informing non-Japanese staff passing by who covered their mouth wide-eyed disappearing into backroom eventually soy sauce arrived but so did next dish immediately afterwards leaving server awkwardly silent skipping explanation altogether. There were many other instances where service left much desired—not all staff behaved this way yet impression remained that numerous part-timers worked without proper training which seemed wasteful given such comfortable impressive property offering sufficiently tasty meals too! If only service matched price point perhaps I'd consider returning...

It was a waste of time.

It was a disappointing stay from check-in to check-out. I have several thoughts, but: 1. The breakfast service was not completed, ruining an important meal at the beginning of the year. We were told dessert would be served, but we waited in a cold room for over 40 minutes, and our bodies became completely chilled. As we were leaving the dining area, we were informed that dessert was about to be served, so we declined, but there was no apology until the end. 2. Although it was stated that check-out is at 11 a.m., we were told on our way back from breakfast that 11 a.m. would be crowded and to leave earlier. I was surprised. Shouldn't this be communicated at check-in or even earlier? 3. There were many foreign staff, and I was confused by their inadequate level of Japanese. 4. The staff working there could not explain the dishes at all. It was the worst New Year's stay. It might be a good property for a no meals included stay, but customers who can afford this level of accommodation fee likely have considerable experience staying at high-level places both domestically and internationally, so I cannot recommend this place at all.

The food was delicious, and they properly accommodated allergies. The photo is of the dinner. The presentation was also beautiful. The lotus root puree was delicious. The barracuda shaped like a mountain, the wagyu beef with Kyoto vegetables, and the strawberry wine jelly were all elaborate and delicious. However, it was disappointing that when we entered the Room for breakfast, there were quite a few food crumbs on the floor under the table, indicating that cleaning was not thorough. Also, although I understand that there were not many staff members for breakfast, it was disappointing that they did not come unless we pressed the buzzer multiple times. The person who guided us to the Room and the person who handled the checkout were very pleasant.

Decrease in satisfaction due to change in management

I have used this property many times in the past, but compared to the previous management under "Onkochishin," it has become a less satisfying ryokan in the following ways: 1. Lack of Concept for the New Villa Wing Originally, there were only about 7-8 villas, but now twice as many have been built on a different site. The original villas had a concept of being isolated and invisible from others, allowing guests to enjoy a special and serene space. The new wing is located in a place visible from the dining area, Hyosekikaku, and without blinds, it can be seen. The new villas are adjacent to each other, and the same buildings are lined up, making it very cheap and destroying the original retreat concept. If it differs from the original concept, it should be promoted as such, but many past customers are likely seeking the same concept, so it felt like coming to a cheap property, which was very disappointing. 2. Significant Decline in Service Quality 1) Pre-Arrival Support After making a reservation on IKYU, I had to call twice. The first time was to book a spa treatment. The person who answered could not speak Japanese well, and after talking for about 10 minutes, I was transferred to someone who could speak Japanese, spending a total of about 30 minutes. At this point, I felt the management was becoming questionable. I had informed them of my daughter's meal set for both dinner and breakfast, but the breakfast was forgotten. The second call was to reserve a cake for a birthday. This was handled smoothly by a Japanese staff member. 2) During the Stay The timing of dinner service was inconsistent, with long gaps between dishes at times and quick service at others. Despite this, the quantity and quality of the food had clearly declined. The sashimi and appetizers had noticeably reduced portions, which was surprising. This was the same for breakfast. The salmon roe in the small bowl was so sparse that it seemed unnecessary. It was full of cheapness. As others have written, I was asked what time I would check out when leaving, but originally, I could check out at the villa, and now I was told to come over. Even though I could drive to Hyosekikaku and didn't need to carry luggage by cart, I was asked if I wanted to carry my luggage by cart, which was a nonsensical question. I was so tired that I didn't want to be spoken to. I will never go again.

    On the second use,

I used it for the first time at the end of summer. At that time, I stayed in the new building, and when we used the NEW fireplace for the first time, the smoke did not get absorbed and filled the room. After checking in, the hotel's repair person was in the room for about an hour, and we couldn't relax, which was very unpleasant. In the end, we couldn't use the fireplace we were looking forward to. This time, I used it for the second time in November as a revenge. At that time, I reserved the old building, and I gently conveyed the previous situation at the time of reservation, but the staff who served us this time did not mention the previous story at all and treated us as if we were new customers. I can't help but wonder if they don't manage customer information. It's not a cheap price at all, but Including the above and the service during the stay, I think it's ordinary or below ordinary. I can't expect the same level of service as hotels of the same price. The room has the warmth of a lodge, and the atmosphere of the fireplace is very good. However, including how to use the fireplace, the way to use the room, and the location of lighting and glasses are difficult to understand, and the explanation is too lacking, so we explored and used the equipment ourselves. As for the meal, it's not bad, but I didn't feel much of a desire to make us happy by eating freshly made food... It's ordinary. The dried horse mackerel for breakfast was delicious. Excluding the point of being able to use the fireplace in the room, I think the cost performance is quite bad when looking at the service, hospitality, and meals overall. From the above, I don't think I will repeat. For your reference.

I left 200,000 yen in Gora.

I have used various hotels and ryokans both domestically and internationally, but this is the first time I've had such a terrible experience. By the way, I am a repeat customer using this place for the second time. It seems that the operating company has changed, as I used it when it was under the previous management. As mentioned in other posts, this is the first time I couldn't enter the room even after the check-in time of 3 PM. We were guided to the room by cart, with a sluggish 15-minute tour. There was no explanation at all about how to use the essential fireplace. We were surprised when asked about the children's dinner here. When we asked what kind of dinner it was, we were told it would be a kids' plate. Our child is 8 years old, and despite paying nearly 60,000 yen just for the child’s accommodation, we were beyond shocked to find it was a kids' plate. Other ryokans serve a slightly adjusted version of the adult kaiseki meal. Also, while the room is indeed newly built and clean, it is filled with a very cheap atmosphere, likely due to rushed construction. Dinner is in a private room, but Western music that doesn't match the building at all is blaring from the speakers. This must be aimed at inbound tourists. There is nothing noteworthy about the meal, and it is not delicious. When making a reservation on IKYU, my wife noted that she cannot eat shiitake mushrooms, and even on the day, we informed the staff that shiitake mushrooms were not allowed, yet they were served with the steak. The kids' plate for the child also looked like a cheap family restaurant level. At this point, it felt almost like harassment. The breakfast the next morning was so basic it made us laugh. Finally, a staff member (different from the room guide) asked us what time we would check out, as if urging us to leave quickly. I was really upset and said how could I know when I haven't even eaten yet. This is truly a place you should not use. You will definitely regret it. Despite being a Diamond member, there was no mention of the Diamond benefits facility voucher. To summarize: → Check-in time is not respected. → Disliked ingredients are completely ignored. → No Diamond benefits. → Rushed to check out. → Completely aimed at inbound tourists. Being a holiday, the total payment for 2 adults and 1 child was about 200,000 yen. At this point, it feels like a scam. This is a property you should absolutely avoid!!! Beware!

    The service was disappointing.

I had high expectations because the reviews were good, but I was very disappointed as the basic aspects of customer service were not met, incorrect explanations were given, and there was a lack of coordination among the staff. This was the first property where I had to wait because the room cleaning was not finished even after the check-in time had passed. Additionally, I was informed that the drinks in the salon were non-alcoholic, but upon checking the bottle, it turned out to be alcoholic, which was an incorrect explanation. I requested a shuttle service from the lounge to the villa and was told that the shuttle had arrived, but when I went to the pick-up point, the shuttle was not there, and I had to wait in the rain for a while. What is happening with the coordination among the staff? There were many other concerning points, and I found many things unbelievable. Considering the price was not cheap, I expected service that matched the cost.
