We’d love to stay here again.
I made a Reservation because this is an Accommodation where you can stay with pets, but I think it is wonderful even without a pet. There was none of the bustle you might find at a large Ryokan, and the Accommodation was located in a quiet villa area not far from Jogasaki Coast. As I wanted a Room where meals could be served in a private dining space, I stayed this time in the Room called “Akane.” This Room had an exceptionally spacious layout with a living area, dining area, and bedroom, and it was very comfortable to relax in. The staff were also gentle and kind, allowing us to spend a peaceful time together as a family. The food was so plentiful we could hardly finish it—a creative course meal that truly felt like an escape from everyday life—and everything was delicious and very satisfying. I also appreciated how carefully they confirmed any ingredients we do not like in advance, making this an Accommodation I would love to visit again. We were told the outdoor open-air bath uses water drawn from Atagawa’s hot spring source; the temperature was perfect, and I enjoyed it many times during our stay. Unfortunately, we did not have good weather during our visit, which was the only disappointment. I will come back for another try at enjoying the open-air bath while watching the sunrise. Next time, I would like to stay for two nights at a leisurely pace. Thank you very much.

It was quiet and relaxing. Our dog was also able to stay fairly calm. All the staff were kind and courteous. Thank you as well to the person who was caring for the moss garden for kindly taking photos for us. However, since we stayed as three guests, one person slept on a futon in the Japanese-style room, but it was so thin and basic that it made their back hurt. The difference compared with the beds was too great and quite disappointing. If a stay for three were significantly cheaper, we could understand, but since there wasn’t a major discount, this was an unfortunate point. Also, we wished there had been a more comfortable sofa that is easier to sit on.

Highly satisfied
This was our first overnight stay with our dog, and the detached guest room allowed us to relax without worrying about other guests. All the staff greeted our dog with warm smiles and kind words, so we felt at ease throughout our stay. Thank you very much. We would love to stay again.

Highly Satisfied
First trip with our 2-year-old Shiba. The meals were beyond expectations, the Room was just right, and the staff's care for our dog was professional and satisfying. Even though it was our first trip, both we and our dog seemed very relaxed and happy. We often hear about dogs being restless and unable to sleep at night during trips, but that didn’t seem to be an issue here. Thank you very much!

Solo Trip with a Chihuahua
Stayed in the Special Room "Chihiro" as a solo traveler, wanting the best room. Usually staying at luxury foreign-brand hotels in Tokyo, this was my first time visiting a ryokan with my beloved dog. The female staff member who assisted me provided excellent service, making me feel it was a great accommodation. Thank you for kindly and adorably taking photos of my dog. Although the meal portions were too large for someone like me with a small appetite, the food was very delicious. There are reviews mentioning noise from downstairs (perhaps inevitable due to wooden construction) and concerns about cheap or worn-out furniture, but I personally didn’t mind. Considering the reasonable price, it’s within an acceptable range. If you want more space and satisfaction like I do, I’d recommend suite rooms at The Peninsula Tokyo or Mandarin Oriental Tokyo instead. The prices are entirely different though—so is it worth complaining at this price? I think this accommodation offers more than its cost. ...I usually don’t write about negative aspects but will mention one here. When trying to use a flashlight for a nighttime walk, it turned off after just seconds of use. When I asked an older male staff member at reception for a replacement flashlight, he responded casually with “It works,” shining it directly into my face (which hurt my eyes temporarily). Despite explaining that it turns off after seconds of use—it indeed turned off shortly after—his attitude felt dismissive and irritating. While I don’t expect customers to be treated as gods by any means, his casual tone and reluctant attitude when replacing the flashlight were frustrating. Shining light into someone’s face without apology? When pointed out politely that such behavior warrants an apology: “Well…it worked,” he replied nonsensically without remorse. What kind of person doesn’t apologize? Other staff members provided wonderful service; however, because of him alone—I couldn’t give full marks for customer service. This being my first stay at accommodation specifically catering to dogs made me realize perhaps accommodations primarily designed for humans but welcoming dogs suit us better—just personal opinion! Lastly: gravel parking lots combined with challenging roads leading up make sports cars or supercars unsuitable! Thankfully we came in an ordinary German car; otherwise bumpers might’ve flown off! Haha Overall though—it’s truly great accommodation worth revisiting someday if mood strikes again! (Hopefully minus that older gentleman!)

A nice accommodation, but...
The view was absolutely stunning! The room, meals, and bath were all excellent. However, there was one issue that caught my attention—the strange noise from the bathroom ventilation fan. It was quite loud. Perhaps due to the popularity of the accommodation, there might not have been enough time for maintenance, but the noise was truly unpleasant. I believe it’s likely caused by deteriorated bearings. Considering this is a high-end accommodation, this should not be overlooked. To be honest, it was disappointing.

As expected from the flagship of Regina Resort.
I have traveled with my dog many times, and I think the hospitality, meals, and Facility at Regina Resort are the best.

Property with a great location
I stayed one night in the Special Room Akane. This Property is located on a steep slope overlooking the sea, surrounded by numerous vacation homes. Among them, this Property stands out for its excellent view. The view from the second floor of this Room is completely unobstructed, and the sea and islands can be clearly seen from the dining area and the open-air bath, offering a breathtaking scenery. The Room is somewhat aged, with many areas showing damage caused by pets. The lower parts of the shoji screens are yellowed, and the furniture lacks any sense of luxury. However, as the overall cleaning is thorough, considering the benefit of being able to stay with pets, these issues were not particularly bothersome. In fact, the Room felt rather comforting. However, there were a few inconveniences. The indoor bath is not equipped with automatic water filling, making it difficult to adjust the temperature. Additionally, the walls and windows seem thin, as strong gusts of wind were quite noisy and impactful, startling the pet. On the day of our stay, the wind speed reached 20m/s, making it so noisy that it was difficult to sleep. The dog run outside the Facility was clean and well-maintained. However, due to the steep slope of the location, the dog run itself also had a significant incline. Balls and other items would roll down on their own, and the pet seemed to struggle to maintain balance while running, nearly falling on the slope several times. This made us quite anxious, so we decided to cut the playtime short. The meals were not particularly outstanding, but the variety of ingredients and cooking methods made the dining experience enjoyable. Since we were in Izu, it would have been nice to have more sashimi options. Additionally, the miso soup was starting to cool to the point where there was no steam, so it might be better to keep soups warm using a tabletop stove or similar. Having Room service was a nice feature, but it would be great if there were more options like fruits or light snacks. For instance, the ice monaka we ordered through Room service at night was covered in frost, suggesting it was quite old or poorly managed. Overall, while there were a few points of concern, the excellent view, spacious and clean Room with an open-air bath, the ability to enjoy in-Room dining, and the wonderful service provided by the staff, including their attentiveness to pets, made this stay highly satisfying. Despite our pet being a bit noisy, we would love to stay in the same Room again.

Regina Resort: A Perfect Getaway to Enjoy Time with Your Beloved Dog
Following our visit to Lake Kawaguchi in May, we also stayed in the Izu area. While Lake Kawaguchi offers a larger-scale experience, this accommodation has only 8 rooms, providing a more intimate and relaxing atmosphere, which was wonderful. However, one disappointing aspect was the dinner service. The staff brought dishes to the table one after another without considering our pace of eating, forcing us to ask them to serve at our own pace. Additionally, regarding coat handling: during breakfast the next morning, a staff member kindly offered to take care of it; however, no such comment was made during dinner service. Considering this is an accommodation with premium pricing, I hope they improve their training in these areas. That said, other services were excellent!

My favorite in Regina.
The private open-air bath in the guest room is exceptional. I stayed in "Hagi" and enjoyed a perfect view of the sunrise. The balcony and the view from the open-air bath were excellent, and the Room was spacious with a great sense of openness. The meals were also very delicious. I was especially pleased with the free wine corkage service. The hospitality was top-notch as expected from Regina. Thank you very much!

Thank you for your patronage.
Thank you for your hospitality. The view from the bath and the cuisine were unforgettable, so I decided to stay again. The staff's service was excellent, and the food was absolutely outstanding as always. I look forward to staying here again in the future.

They warmly welcomed our timid little one!
Our dog, who is extremely timid, struggles to adapt to new environments. He is not good with other dogs and always asks to be held when barked at. Loud places are also difficult for him, so walking around the city is out of the question. Although he doesn’t bark unnecessarily, he trembles constantly instead. Because of this, we’ve never been able to travel with him before. Our previous dog was very sociable and could go anywhere without issue, so we felt a bit lonely until we stumbled upon this place by chance. The room was a detached unit with a private dining area and even an Onsen open-air bath for humans! We decided immediately and made our reservation. The warm welcome from the staff and their cheerful call of "Yumetaro-chan!" seemed to make our dog happy as well. Thanks to their kindness, he spent his time here without any fear. Even though it was early September with sweltering heat outside, soaking in the Onsen open-air bath on the balcony was refreshing. You can see Sagami Bay in the distance and enjoy beautiful greenery all around. The room’s air conditioning was so comfortable that I found myself dozing off. Originally built as a villa for Yamagata Aritomo, this accommodation is located beyond quiet residential streets that are hard to navigate without GPS. Izu Kogen is often referred to as "Dog Kogen" because it’s such a pet-friendly area; however, among many casual accommodations here, this one stands out as exceptional. We would love to stay again! The meals featured local ingredients and were designed in a way that anyone would find delightful—a true feast showcasing great effort by the staff! However, they felt slightly too polished in terms of typical Ryokan cuisine presentation. As for our dog's meal—it had very reasonable pricing! Our little one looked thrilled as if saying “Can I really eat all this meat?” What left us most impressed were how attentive and heartfelt all staff members were throughout our stay—this became our fondest memory from visiting here. Please note there are significant elevation differences within the property grounds; checking your room's location on their official website beforehand might help you choose based on your dog's mobility or your own physical condition. Rooms farther away tend to have greater elevation differences compared with those closer—so plan accordingly!
