    Stunning views

We stayed for a two-night trip. Each Room has a large rock bath, and we enjoyed the wonderful view overlooking Lake Gosho while soaking—truly living up to the name “Kaikei.” On clear days, you can also see Mt. Iwate beautifully, but unfortunately it was cloudy all three days, so we’d like to come back again next time.

    Tranquility and excellence.

Surrounded by tranquility, the Room features both an indoor bath and an open-air bath of an unprecedented size, providing a truly relaxing stay. The reclining chair by Karimoku is also exceptional. I look forward to visiting again in a different season.

Scenery and Onsen are the highlights.

A single-story house by Lake Gosho The room had a nostalgic feel, and the view was wonderful. The indoor bath had high-quality onsen water that helped relieve fatigue. The view from the indoor bath was also excellent. As for the open-air bath, the cement slope leading to it was rough and hurt my feet quite a bit—perhaps designed to prevent slipping? I made several inquiries over the phone regarding preparing a birthday cake for my companion and arranging transportation from the station, and they responded very kindly each time. There is nothing much in the surrounding area, so it might be ideal for those seeking true seclusion. (The TV is not connected to internet services like Netflix, so you can truly focus on enjoying the onsen and scenery.) WiFi was available. You might consider dining in Morioka City instead of nearby options—perhaps due to its mountain location. At checkout, I felt rushed as they requested payment earlier than planned due to coordination with other guests' schedules. While some may prefer an early checkout, I wanted to relax until my designated time. This experience differed from their kind service at check-in and left me feeling disappointed.

The Onsen experience is of the highest quality.

Among all the accommodations I have stayed at, the charm of the onsen, especially the baths, including the open-air bath and abundant hot spring water, was exceptional. The scenery and uninterrupted hospitality were outstanding. Considering all this, I believe it offers excellent value for money.

    The Best Open-Air Bath

This is my second stay. The open-air bath here is truly the best. The bathtub is spacious enough to feel oversized for two people, and the view from the open-air bath is exceptionally beautiful. The system is designed to minimize contact with staff as much as possible. Meals are served in the room, but you need to set them up yourself. Some dishes may be slightly cold, and it’s not quite like dining at a restaurant, but you can enjoy your meal at your own pace. It’s an ideal accommodation for relaxing and enjoying a slow-paced hot spring retreat—whether it’s a ryokan or hotel! I’d love to come back again!

    Onsen is wonderful, but...

This is a lovely accommodation to enjoy onsen at a leisurely pace. However, for this class of accommodation, compared to other facilities, there are only yukatas provided without bathrobes or samue for relaxing attire. The chair by the window is nice, but there is no table. As mentioned in other reviews, the meals are not up to par considering the price. Now that COVID-19 has ended, it would be great if a dining area could be established where guests can enjoy kaiseki cuisine at their leisure. Additionally, both breakfast and dinner served in the room lacked creativity and had few local ingredients unique to Iwate. It might be beneficial for the chef (if there is one) to study at similar-class ryokans. That said, all staff members were friendly and provided good service. Lastly, having a sofa would have been appreciated as it was hard to relax with just floor chairs available.

Perfect Accommodation for a Relaxing Stay

This was my second visit. Check-in and check-out are done in the room, so there is almost no need to go to the main building. The system minimizes contact with people, which might be surprising if you're unaware beforehand. Compared to other accommodations in the same price range, the service feels a bit minimalistic and can seem slightly unsettling, but they responded properly to all my requests, leaving a good impression. Above all, everything needed for the stay is provided in the room, and the bath is absolutely amazing—this alone made me completely satisfied. I love the perfectly lukewarm indoor bath temperature, but the open-air bath is incredibly spacious with an exceptional view. It was a luxurious bathing experience. If I had to mention one thing, as someone who often has computer work even while traveling, having a desk and chair would have been nice. That’s about my only complaint regarding the room. Due to COVID-19 restrictions it took quite some time before revisiting this place again; however, I’ve reaffirmed that it’s one of those accommodations I’d like to return to again someday!

    Rooms & Amenities: D...

Rooms & Amenities: Designed to offer a panoramic view of Lake Gosho. Although the view of Mt. Iwate and the three ski resorts was not always visible during the stay, even with the haze, the scenery was breathtaking enough to enjoy a drink (conveniently, there is beer chilled in the fridge, but perhaps sake would be more fitting). The location is excellent. Unlike other properties, this property does not have towel racks. Used towels are placed in a designated booth, and if there is a shortage, they are replenished. The concept of using a towel only once is unfamiliar. It would be helpful to have an explanation beforehand. Hospitality & Service: The concept seems to be that the room belongs to the guest (staff do not enter, as if saying, "This property is your home"). Guests also serve their own meals (delivered through a staff-only entrance). While past reviews have expressed dissatisfaction, I find this approach acceptable (this policy was maintained until checkout). However, it would be better to indicate this policy at the time of reservation so that guests can be aware of it, reducing the tension upon arrival (as typically, any property is not one's home, but a place visited as a guest). Onsen & Bath: Bathed immediately upon arrival. The bottom of the open-air bath was cold, and with the cold outside air, I thought it might be tough the next day, but this was resolved by the second bath. It seems to be due to the short interval between check-in and check-out, but it is also proof of thorough cleaning. Used the bath 5 or 6 times until checkout, and it was always at the right temperature. Bringing the temperature from cold to optimal and maintaining it until checkout is a testament to the skill of the bath attendant, though it is mysterious. Dining: There are no typical sashimi dishes often found at onsen properties (personally, I welcome this, as serving shrimp and tuna sashimi in Morioka seems out of place). Considering the lack of staff entry into guest rooms and the onsen situation, perhaps the property is aiming for a therapeutic stay. While the stay is comfortable, this is not apparent from the website. It might be better to clarify this. Additionally, I ordered a "Iwana no Honezake Set" as an extra. Unlike the usual method of soaking the whole fish in sake, only half of the fish is soaked, yet it brings out the umami, which was surprising. There was also enough to eat as is, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The Onsen and the rooms are very good.

The indoor and open-air onsen were spacious with excellent water quality, and we were highly satisfied. The room was also clean and had a sense of cleanliness. However, for meals, it was inconvenient to have to carry them from the hallway each time, and the content was more like a stylish lunch with a one-plate dish and a few additional items like tempura, which was a bit different from the image of in-room dining. Also, although there was a TV, the internet connection was not available, and when we consulted with the property staff, they seemed not to understand the system, so it couldn't be resolved, which was disappointing. The wireless Wi-Fi also stopped connecting for some reason halfway through. Overall, the onsen and room were very good! That was the impression. Thank you very much.

    The Onsen is wonderful.

The open-air bath and indoor bath were spacious, and the view from the open-air bath was wonderful. The water was smooth, soft, and soothing. The Room was functional, without any waste, and very clean. The cuisine was local Japanese dishes, although some wine pairings did not match well. Breakfast was a gentle Japanese meal with just the right number of dishes. I would like to visit again in early spring.
