    The service was outs...

    The service was outstanding. It was the best hospitality I have ever experienced at any Accommodation. The sashimi of Seki horse mackerel, Bungo beef, and local chicken were all delicious. I was able to relax in the open-air bath while gazing at the beautiful starry sky. I would definitely like to stay here again.

    An Accommodation you’ll want to stay at again

    This was our first stay as a family of three. It was a truly wonderful Accommodation where we could feel genuine hospitality. The thoughtful, unobtrusive attention to detail was excellent. The food was also very delicious. It was an Accommodation that made us want to stay again for the first time in a long while.

    The night sky viewed from the open-air bath was beautiful.

    A two-night trip to Kyushu. We stayed in Beppu the first night, and booked this Accommodation in Yufuin for the second night. Based on Reviews and other information, we chose Yufunoshou from several highly rated Accommodations. The meals are handled by the head chef alone, and the staff moved efficiently; thanks to their perfect timing, we were able to enjoy hot dishes while they were still hot. The standout was the sesame tofu—so delicious that I honestly wondered which was better: this one or the sesame tofu made by my aunt (a temple wife) over my 65 years of life. It was so exceptional I wanted to take some home as a souvenir. As for the baths, not only was the rock bath in our Room wonderful, but we also used two private open-air baths—both with excellent water quality. After dinner we used “Milky Way,” and while soaking in the reclining bath and looking up at the night sky, I was moved by how beautiful the stars were. The service from check-in to check-out was flawless. In particular, at check-out I was surprised when I was asked to pay for our stay. When I mentioned that I had made an Online Credit Card Payment, they said it had not been processed; when I checked my Reservation status myself, it indeed showed unpaid. They asked us to pay once on-site and kindly explained that if IKYU.com later also charged us and it became a double charge, they would issue a refund if we contacted them. Their response felt fair and reassuring, so we left calmly. We received hospitality well worth the price of our stay.

    If I were to stay in...

    If I were to stay in Yufuin again, this accommodation would definitely be my choice. I visited with my family, and the atmosphere of the facility, the meals, and the staff's thoughtful hospitality left a particularly strong impression. The room was simple and not luxurious but had a warm, home-like feel that made it very relaxing. During our stay, it was cold outside, but they kindly provided gas heating in the dressing area to keep us warm. The food was also very delicious and satisfying. The charcoal-grilled chicken was the most delicious dish!

    Relax and unwind.

    Despite the heavy rain on the day of our stay, we were reassured by a call from the accommodation providing updates on the weather and road conditions, allowing us to depart with peace of mind. The room featured a rock bath, and since the private baths were not crowded, we could enjoy them at our leisure. We were thrilled to see a deer and its fawn twice from the rock bath in our room. However, early in the morning, loud insect sounds made it difficult to sleep. The meals were delicious and very satisfying; breakfast with egg over rice was especially outstanding. Dinner portions were quite large, and while we felt bad about leaving food behind, we ended up overeating. For future stays after our second visit, it would be appreciated if meal portions could be adjusted upon request. We look forward to staying again during another season!

    The Milky Way Hot Spring is exceptional.

    The timing was perfect, and the starry sky was unbelievably beautiful. Soaking in the Milky Way-themed sleeping bath while gazing at the stars became an unforgettable memory. The bath is private, and there is a light switch by the sleeping bath, allowing you to turn off the lights freely. The moment you turn off the lights, you'll witness an incredible view of countless stars. Additionally, the staff's hospitality was outstanding. Their polite language and demeanor were impressive, and they kindly stayed with us late into the night without showing any displeasure despite our lingering around. Thank you so much for your kindness. The Facility has not been renovated and retains a vintage charm that adds character to it. Enjoying coffee by the hearth was exceptional as well. Moreover, everything was impeccably clean with great attention to detail, providing a sense of cleanliness throughout. Considering this Facility and service quality at such reasonable pricing felt truly fair. If I have another chance, I would love to visit again and would definitely recommend it to my friends!

    A hidden accommodation perfect for those who want to relax and enjoy Onsen amidst nature.

    We stayed as a family of four. As we were informed beforehand, "there's nothing around," it truly was a hidden accommodation surrounded by forests in the middle of the highlands. The room we stayed in was a simple design with two connected tatami rooms, different from the luxurious guest rooms typically considered high-class. It might not be suitable for those seeking abundant amenities and services, but it was perfect for relaxing and unwinding in nature. The service was excellent—staff brought appropriately sized yukatas without us having to ask at check-in, lit incense upon arrival, and provided extra yukatas since dinner involved charcoal grilling that could leave odors on clothing. The private semi-open-air bath in our room had an impressive onsen quality typical of Yufuin. Additionally, being able to freely use four private open-air baths is a great perk for onsen lovers, and the "Star Viewing Switch" that turns off outdoor lights to enjoy stargazing is another highlight. Dinner was very filling; we couldn't finish the final rice porridge course due to its generous portions. A delightful surprise during early morning hours was spotting deer from our room window! Overall, it was an incredibly satisfying accommodation (though not recommended for those who dislike insects or creatures like frogs and geckos due to its forest location).

    Enjoy local cuisine, open-air baths, and the natural beauty of Yufuin.

    As described, it was a stay where we could fully enjoy local cuisine and the nature of Yufuin. The open-air bath, offering a breathtaking view of the star-filled sky that cannot be experienced in the city, was an ultimate source of relaxation.     The meals and hospitality are excellent.

    Stayed for one night during Golden Week. A simple accommodation, but the heartfelt hospitality and cuisine were outstanding! Unlike some accommodations that simply increase the number of dishes, every meal here incorporated fresh local vegetables and regional specialties, making it enjoyable without getting repetitive. You could truly feel their passion for delivering delicious food. The time spent around the hearth after meals was very relaxing, and they were kind to children as well. This is a rare gem of an accommodation that I highly recommend!

    I stayed with my mother in March. It was a very quiet place, and since it was in the mountains, I thought it might be cold. However, the Room had both air conditioning and a gas heater, so we were able to stay warm and relax. I also liked that there was incense in the Room. The bath felt a bit dark when entering late at night, but the water quality was excellent, spacious, and allowed for a relaxing soak. I also appreciated that it could be reserved for private use. The meals were very fresh, thoughtfully portioned, and delicious both in the morning and evening. Everyone who served us was polite and wonderful. My mother was extremely satisfied, making this trip truly special for us. Thank you so much!

    I had a relaxing time.

    As mentioned in other reviews, everything was satisfying. The food was made with high-quality ingredients and had such generous portions that it was almost too much to finish. The private bath could be used anytime, providing a blissful experience. I would love to visit again!

    Excellent meals

    Stayed for one night from April 20th. The accommodation, surrounded by peaceful greenery away from the hustle and bustle of the city, is the perfect place for relaxation. The sounds of frogs croaking, birds chirping, and the gentle clatter of wooden sandals on the way to the bath create an ideal atmosphere for unwinding. By May, I imagine the greenery will be even more vibrant. As mentioned in reviews, both the meals and hospitality were absolutely satisfying. The thoughtful attention to detail in dining made it a wonderful experience. This is definitely one of those accommodations I would love to visit again if given another opportunity. Thank you so much for your hospitality!

    I experienced true hospitality.

    To sum it up, just go and stay without overthinking. You will receive the best hospitality. The day we stayed, snow was forecasted, but we received a call the morning before to check our car tires and explain how to use the shuttle service in detail. Thanks to that, we arrived safely at the accommodation—if we had gone with regular tires, it could have been dangerous. As for the food, it was incredibly plentiful and absolutely delicious! We were so full and slept soundly! After dinner, there was a stylish photo session by the irori (traditional Japanese hearth). The four private family baths each have unique features; our top recommendation is "Amanogawa no Yu," where you can lie back in the bath while gazing up at the sky! The guest rooms were somewhat old but had a calming atmosphere that felt great! Lastly, I must mention how courteous and attentive all of the ryokan staff were. Their thoughtful gestures and warm smiles were truly wonderful!!! We will definitely come back again!!

    Satisfied with the hospitality

    The first impression upon arrival was slightly different from the imagined Facility and scenery, but more than that, the staff's courteous service, detailed explanations, and hospitality made for a pleasant stay. Regarding the Onsen, it was set to just the right temperature for me and my family, making it very comfortable. As for dinner, the variety of dishes, taste, and portion size were impeccable and very delicious. I must emphasize again that thanks to the staff's warm-hearted service, it became a wonderful family Onsen trip. Thank you very much. I would like to visit again in a different season!

    The high ratings are well-deserved.

    The building has an old but charming design, and it was very clean, making for a pleasant stay. The service was excellent, often leaving us feeling humbled. The meals were mainly local dishes and were very delicious, with just the right amount—not too much or too little—which I thought was impressive. While soaking in the bath attached to our room, a deer unexpectedly passed by the window—a delightful surprise (laughs). Combined with the starry sky viewed from the private bath, it became an unforgettable memory. If there is one thing that could be improved, it would be that only the private sleeping bath was too hot to enter. I suppose this is also a downside of using natural hot spring water continuously flowing in its original state, but I hope some measures can be taken by our next visit. Thank you for providing such a wonderful Property.

    First Yufuin

    First trip to Oita. I chose the property because the reviews on IKYU were good. I was very satisfied with the hot water and meals. The amenities like lotion felt like those of a business hotel, so I wish they were a bit better. They also provide shuttle service. The ride there was good, but on the way back, they explained there was a delay due to the previous shuttle. Perhaps because of that, the return shuttle drove at high speed, tailgating the truck in front. The car jumped up and down on unpaved roads. It was a very frightening experience. My companion felt sick and had to rest for a while after getting off. It was such a shame because the property was nice and the service was good.

    Retirement Gratitude Trip for My Son's Wife

    We were completely satisfied with the food, service, and bath. Especially regarding the service, we were informed about changes in the local weather, and thanks to the advance preparation, we managed to get through the sudden snowfall without any issues. Additionally, thanks to the snow, we were able to enjoy the open-air bath with a view of the snow, which delighted the whole family. It was a Ryokan that we would definitely like to visit again.

    The hospitality and meals were wonderful. As soon as we were shown to our room, a deer and its fawn welcomed us. Thank you for the hospitality with a nature-filled inn, delicious food, and excellent service.
