  The bath was of excellent quality.

  A quick word from me in response to the harsh reviews. The road is easy once you’re used to it. If it’s your first time, your navigation may choose a steep, challenging route—but once you reach the Ryokan, it somehow switches to an easier one. Driving at night might test your patience: I couldn’t make one turn without backing up and nearly scraped the guardrail, but going back and forth a few times did the trick. A few things startled me: there was no lock on the bath window; a wet bath towel was hanging on the bath frame; and then I looked inside a cup—three surprises in total. At night, I did hear singing nearby—maybe karaoke, or maybe young guests at the tent park next door enjoying their evening. Even so, this Accommodation embraces all of that without making it feel like a big deal. After midnight, walking from the parking lot to the entrance was pitch-dark, and I struggled with what was only about 20 steps of stairs—so bring your own light. Still, I consider it a good Accommodation—one I’d happily make a Reservation for again right away. That’s why I had to speak up after seeing so many negative comments: for me, it’s a “like.” A truly deep Yufuin hot spring experience. As for service: there’s very little unless you ask for it. Since I didn’t ask, I can’t really judge—so I rated it 1. Please be sure to stir/mix the bath water well (mix it well and keep mixing).

  Staying at Yamazakur...

  Staying at Yamazakura without meals offers excellent value for money. The Onsen is wonderfully silky and smooth. The Room was spacious, and the bed and pillows were very comfortable—I slept soundly. Service is kept to the minimum necessary, making it a great place for a quiet stay. It would be nice to have coffee cups.

  It was a wonderful Ryokan!

  I was a little worried because there weren’t many Reviews, and I saw someone mention cleanliness, but in the end it was a truly wonderful Accommodation!! The place was thoroughly cleaned, and it never felt unclean at all. The futon was fluffy and comfortable to sleep on, and the bath was amazing! They don’t serve meals, but they will recommend several good nearby restaurants. It’s also close to Yunotsubo Kaido, so I think the location is great. For this price, the quality is extremely satisfying! It can be hard to find at night, but if you get lost, the staff will guide you!

  A Pleasant Accommodation

  This Accommodation is located at the end of a dark road at night. It felt more like a casual vacation rental than a Ryokan. The strong air freshener scent in the lobby was slightly noticeable. I was also somewhat concerned about the level of cleaning and overall cleanliness.
