    The service is excellent.

    The Facility is old, but it was very clean and we had a comfortable stay. The in-room bath was right in front of the ocean, and it felt great to soak slowly in the slightly lukewarm water. There was a wide variety of food, and the staff were very attentive. The taste was decent. The free drinks included draft beer and sparkling wine, which we enjoyed while soaking our feet in the footbath and looking out at the sea. Above all, what impressed us most was the staff’s smiles and service. Every staff member (including those from overseas) was well trained, and we truly had a pleasant stay.

    I had been looking forward to this stay because my family told me it was wonderful when they stayed here four years ago. The ocean view was beautiful, and the scenery from our Room was stunning. However, considering the Accommodation Fee was by no means cheap, the overall stay fell short of expectations. What disappointed me most was the food. We were told in advance that “there will be a lot of food,” but while there were many dishes, neither the portions nor the content felt as satisfying as we had expected. Some of the fish dishes also had an unpleasant fishy smell, which was especially disappointing since we had been looking forward to dinner. As for the bedding, I personally did not find it particularly high-quality or comfortable and wasn’t able to rest well. There were also areas inside the building where an odor that seemed to come up from the drainage pipes was noticeable, which detracted from comfort. Although it felt different from my family’s previous stay, the view truly was wonderful. Given the price range, I had hoped for a more refined and comfortable experience overall, including better food, bedding, and indoor conditions.

    The service was excellent.

    We stayed here to celebrate my mother’s full recovery from illness. Even though it was a last-minute request, you kindly arranged flowers for us and even gave us a special gift. Thanks to your exceptional hospitality, we had a truly wonderful time.

    A Failed Accommodation Choice

    We stayed in the Room with an open-air bath (Ominaeshi). The Room was on the 3rd floor, right by the sea (the swimming beach), and the view from the open-air bath was amazing. However, there was no privacy screen at all around the open-air bath, so we were completely visible from the beach and couldn’t use it until it got dark, which meant we couldn’t bathe multiple times. We were also disappointed with both the quality and quantity of the breakfast and dinner menus, and this is the first Accommodation where we couldn’t even order beer at dinner. Given that, JPY 100,000 for two people on a weekday is not a price we can accept.

    It was great.

    The Facility is a bit old, but it was great that the welcome drinks—beer and sparkling wine—were all-you-can-drink, and we could enjoy them while soaking our feet in the terrace footbath. The meals were also excellent!

    A strong gust of wind blew my wig off.

    I was surprised by the strong wind at the open-air bath. For some reason, breakfast on the second day was delicious.

    I was able to relax and take my time.

    The food was delicious, but I felt it was a bit lacking. Other than that, everything was excellent: the Room had just been renovated, so I could relax comfortably, and the service and hospitality were very good. The large public bath was almost private. The location was great, and I could walk to all the places I wanted to visit. It was a wonderful trip.

    An Accommodation with Spectacular Views and Warm Hospitality

    This was my first stay here, and I was extremely satisfied. The location is excellent, within walking distance of the castle town, the museum, and Hagi Castle. The complimentary drink service was well stocked, and enjoying sparkling wine while soaking in the footbath with an ocean view was exceptional. The dishes made with locally sourced ingredients were also delicious. What left the strongest impression on me was the staff’s courteous and attentive hospitality. During my two-night stay, I had a very comfortable time and truly appreciate it. I believe this Accommodation is ideal for sightseeing in Hagi.

    The Room clock had stopped. The bathroom scale was broken. The service was good, and the meals were also good. It was a bit disappointing—if the amenities were checked each time, it would have been a more comfortable stay.

    Hagi Trip

    The variety of dishes was impressive, and everything was delicious. The semi-open-air bath in the guest room could use a bit more thought. Still, the staff were very attentive, and it’s a wonderful Ryokan where you can relax and unwind.

    It was the best accommodation.

    The staff’s courteous service truly stood out. These days, many employees are from overseas, but it had been a while since I felt the high standard of Japanese hospitality. Because meals were served in semi-private dining spaces, we could relax and enjoy them, and I also really liked that the rice was offered buffet-style. Since the Room was labeled “partial” from the start, I can’t say the view was great, but we were able to spend our time comfortably with no complaints. I rated the Onsen 4/5 because the bathtubs in both the in-room bath and the private bath felt quite similar. Next time, I’d like to stay in a different Room.

    Amazing ocean view!

    We were informed the day before that the private open-air bath in our room would not be available, and we considered canceling. However, since it was a special occasion to celebrate my husband's retirement, we decided to go. We enjoyed a relaxing time with an alcohol service and footbath while admiring the stunning view. The large public baths had different spring sources—Radium Onsen and Sodium Onsen (probably)—and thanks to alternating schedules for men and women, we could enjoy both types of Onsen. The staff provided excellent service with kindness and professionalism. Despite the unexpected situation, their efforts made our stay worthwhile. Next time, I hope to visit with my entire family! One downside was that the standard Kaiseki meal was underwhelming; next time, I plan to upgrade it. Unfortunately, due to stormy weather on the night of our stay, strong winds kept us awake from midnight until dawn (-｡-;).

    There is a significant gap between the website images and the actual Room.

    I reserved a room at a seaside hotel with the description of a semi-open-air bath and modern Japanese-Western style rooms, "Rei - White Jade" and "Miyabi - Black Granite," accompanied by bright photos. However, the room "Miyabi" that was prepared had an outdoor bath covered by fixed blinds, leaving only a small 90 cm window. It was dim even during the day with almost no natural light, and outside the window was not the sea but a parking lot. On departure, I saw the neighboring room "Rei," which had a bright balcony-equipped space. This made me question whether these two rooms should really be under the same plan. As for meals, they were served in a large hall with rice and miso soup provided in plastic containers via buffet style. The clock in my room displayed a date one week ahead and was 10 minutes slow—adding to several disappointing experiences. If this were marked as casual accommodation, it might have been understandable; however, I did not expect such an experience from IKYU's site. As someone who frequently uses IKYU.com, I now have doubts about how accommodations are presented on their platform.

    Women-friendly!

    Welcome drink, foot bath, semi-open-air Onsen in the room (large public bath and private baths available for free use). Face towels are provided everywhere, giving you unlimited access to the Onsen. Both yukata and samue are available, with a full range of skincare and other amenities—perfect for women. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious! The self-serve rice option adds great flexibility. The sea in front of the Hotel was absolutely stunning.

    I enjoyed my Multiple Night Stay.

    I enjoyed a Multiple Night Stay while sightseeing in Hagi, Tsuwano, and Tsunoshima. I was able to relax and enjoy the view of the Sea of Japan while soaking in a foot bath with a beer in hand. On the second night, dinner included delicious dishes such as pufferfish cuisine, grilled wagyu beef on a ceramic plate, and sashimi. Thank you very much!

    The service is excellent.

    The Room had a beautiful Asian-inspired design, and the exceptional service was impressive (including free drinks and many other amenities). Additionally, the meals (dinner and breakfast) were delicious and satisfying, leaving us very pleased.

    A bit disappointing.

    The Room has been renovated, making it clean and comfortable, but the public bath lacked a sense of cleanliness. The additional services like coffee, draft beer, and ice cream were nice; however, it felt lacking in luxury. There was a slight sense of confusion about the concept. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming, which was great. Thank you for the birthday gift as well! With its good location, I hope you continue to improve!

    A Relaxing Getaway

    I stayed here with my elderly aunt and mother. I had informed the staff in advance that they were elderly, and I appreciate the effort to avoid hard foods in their meals. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and we even had seconds of the fugu porridge at breakfast. The foot bath and foot stone spa upon arrival were very relaxing, with beautiful views to enjoy. We used the paid yukata service, but even an M size was too large for my petite mother; it would be great if S sizes were available. Unfortunately, we missed out on having ice cream after our bath as it was no longer available by then, which was a bit disappointing. However, there were plenty of complimentary services like massage chairs and beauty devices that made this trip truly rejuvenating. I would love to stay here again when visiting Hagi!

    The meals are delicious.

    The service during meals was very polite and pleasant. It was also convenient that the same table was used for both dinner and breakfast. However, the towels felt rough and were not very comfortable, and many of the towels provided in the bath area had holes or were worn out, which was concerning. It would be better if the cleaning of the bath area could be done more thoroughly.

    The ocean view Room was lovely, and the bath was excellent. We had two meals, and they were very delicious. We had a wonderful time. We would love to stay again if we have the chance.

    Reservation the Day Before

    I made a last-minute reservation the day before, so I didn't have high expectations, but the meals were excellent and pleasantly surprising. However, I felt that the public bath was too small compared to the number of rooms. I understand it might be due to structural limitations, but it was a bit disappointing. On the other hand, I enjoyed using the private open-air bath in my room multiple times. The room itself had just been renovated and was very clean.

    I visited a few year...

    I visited a few years ago and had a great experience, so I made another reservation this time, but it didn’t leave the same impression as before. The buffet section of the meal wasn’t very appealing; perhaps it would be better to serve rice, miso soup, and pickles together with the other dishes from the start. The footbath and scenery were nice, but I felt a bit disappointed overall. However, having free beer and drinks was appreciated.

    The Onsen, staff, and meals were satisfying, but there was trouble at the end...

    The onsen and meals were excellent. However, the experience ended on a disappointing note. When checking out of the accommodation, I purchased some souvenirs. At that time, a staff member said, "We'll charge it to your room." I then proceeded to the counter for checkout and settled the bill with my card. After hearing "Thank you very much" from the staff, I left the accommodation. About 90 minutes later, while driving to my next destination, I received a call from the accommodation saying that "the payment has not been completed." When I explained that I had paid by card, they informed me that "the additional meal options and Hot Spring Tax were not included in the payment." Now that I think about it, during checkout no one asked me to return my room key either. With no other choice, we exited the highway and made a U-turn back to the accommodation—taking another 90 minutes. Upon returning and explaining that "I paid assuming everything was charged to my room as mentioned," they simply responded with: "Oh, there might have been some miscommunication." There was no apology despite what seemed like an oversight on their part. The dining staff provided excellent service and we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the onsen; however, this final incident completely ruined our experience. We wasted three hours going back and forth unnecessarily and had to give up visiting our next destination altogether. If only there had been an apology or acknowledgment of their mistake—it would have made things more bearable... Unfortunately, this trip turned into a deeply disappointing experience for us.

    It was a wonderful anniversary trip.

    We stayed here for our wedding anniversary trip during Golden Week 2025. All the staff we encountered provided such pleasant and thoughtful service. The food was incredibly delicious, and we truly appreciated the special attention given to our anniversary. A special mention to the female staff member who assisted us during our meal (apologies for forgetting her name) — her warm smile and considerate gestures were truly wonderful. The sake tasting experience was surprisingly affordable, which amazed us! Enjoying welcome drinks like beer and chu-hi while admiring the ocean and garden was a delightful moment of happiness. Since the weather was nice, we also used the footbath. Despite being outdoors, it was kept very clean, making it a comfortable experience as well. The Room was spotless, allowing us to relax throughout our stay. Although we didn’t use the private sauna or bath facilities this time, their clear signage and inviting atmosphere made us wish we had more time to try them out. Thank you for providing such a wonderful experience!

    I was satisfied.

    The renovated ryokan shows the effort put in by everyone to ensure customer satisfaction. The room was clean and well-maintained, which was great. The meals were plentiful, almost too much to finish, and very delicious. As for the facility, it would have been nice to have a full-length mirror installed. Overall, it was a very satisfying accommodation experience.

    Relax to the Sound of Ocean Waves

    The facility is generally old-fashioned but well-maintained. The service was warm and attentive, with the staff providing a calm and relaxing experience. Our room had an open-air bath, but the water was quite hot, making temperature adjustment a bit challenging. It would be appreciated if the bedding were more modern (a futon directly on tatami without a mattress can be hard on the back). We were soothed by the sound of waves and the view from our room. Thank you very much!

    The Onsen water was soft and made my skin smooth. The staff's kind smiles and thoughtfulness were the best part. The amenities were plentiful, making for an enjoyable stay. The food was also satisfying in both volume and taste.
