The Accommodation Chosen for a Pilgrimage Trip

After visiting Kanemochi Shrine, I stayed at this auberge. It is located in a national park, surrounded by forest. The interior is decorated with antiques. For the open-air bath, you need to fill it with hot water each time. During seasons when insects increase, I felt it would be difficult to bathe at night. I recommend checking in early and enjoying the bath. For dinner, I enjoyed the beef. I was completely full and very satisfied. Talking with the owner and all the staff was also fun. This is an Accommodation I would like to stay at again. Thank you very much.

    The 7th night of a 9-night, 10-day trip

We were blessed with great weather on this trip—clear skies every day and stunning views of Mt. Daisen and the Sea of Japan from the mountain. Because this Facility comes so highly recommended, we arrived early to make the most of it. With the all-inclusive plan, we enjoyed a beer right away while soaking in the open-air bath on our Room’s balcony. The Room had a Western antique style, and everything—from the bed and furnishings to the tableware—was superb. The Italian dinner was outstanding and truly worthy of an auberge, and the house wine was exceptionally delicious. The hospitality was excellent as well; the owner personally greeted us, and we had a wonderful conversation. From around sunset, a sea of clouds began to spread out—so spectacular that even the owner said it was something rarely seen. We were able to fully enjoy both an incredible meal and breathtaking scenery.

    The Finest Auberge

Everything was wonderful. We had lunch this time as well, and it was truly delicious. From now on, we would like to stay with the 1-night, 3-meals plan. This was our third stay, and it is always excellent. We will visit again. Thank you very much.

    Highly satisfied

Thank you for having us the other day. As mentioned in other Reviews, the owner even came to greet us, and the hospitality was so wonderful it almost felt too generous. The view from the Room was great, and every dish was carefully prepared and delicious. We will definitely come again.

Exquisite Italian cuisine fused with Japanese flavors

Enjoy the autumn leaves at Mt. Daisen via Adachi Museum of Art, followed by a second round of Matsuba crab. Experience a variety of dishes combining the essence of Japanese cuisine with fresh and handcrafted techniques. During your previous visit in November 2024, you enjoyed a meal that required almost no direct hand contact, but this time, the fusion of Italian and Japanese cuisine offered a delightful harmony, with the risotto finale being exceptionally delicious. Marvel at the breathtaking view of Yonago from your Room amidst autumn foliage. The next day, relax in an extraordinary bath where sky and sea become one while savoring exquisite Japanese cuisine at "Kaike Yugetsu."

    Excellent

It was a perfect stay. Everything was wonderful. I would definitely stay here again when visiting the San'in region. A day surrounded by antique furniture brought a sense of calm and peace. Knowing that the furniture is also available for purchase added even more excitement to my experience. Thank you very much!

    Thank you.

As always, the stay was comfortable, and both the meals and the bath were excellent. Thank you very much. I am looking forward to my next visit. P.S. The "Tempura Masao" restaurant recommended by the chef was indeed surprisingly great value for money. I couldn't believe such quality at that price!

We were able to enjoy a sky full of stars this time.

Once again, we were treated to a delightful dinner during our stay. The unchanging courteous service was truly comforting. I personally enjoyed the breathtaking starry sky from the open-air bath in the main room. As always, it was an exceptional accommodation experience. Thank you very much!

    Excellent

A wonderful Hotel. The meals were incredibly delicious and impressive. The Room, surrounded by antique furniture, was exceptional. The open-air bath was clean and amazing. As someone who loves antiques, this was the perfect Hotel for me. Luxurious items were casually displayed throughout. I had a fantastic time here and will definitely visit again. Thank you for the warm smiles of the staff; they left a lasting impression on me!

    A Must-Visit Auberge

We stayed here for a special occasion. We made the Reservation with high expectations for the food, and it exceeded them with an outstanding experience. The interior design, furniture, and decor were excellent, and the service was both polite and friendly. We had a wonderful time celebrating our special day. We would definitely love to visit again!

The grilled sweetfish with salt was delicious.

Unfortunately, we encountered a swarm of flying ants on the day of our stay, which prevented us from enjoying the scenic bath. This affected our overall rating—apologies for the harsh feedback. The grilled ayu (ordered separately) was delicious. Dinner was undoubtedly excellent, and we would love to visit again. Additionally, the male staff member who served us provided exceptional service and left a great impression. However, it was disappointing that there was no guidance regarding the mini fireworks included as a special perk.

    Excellent Dining

As expected from an auberge, both dinner and breakfast were exceptional. We used the Anniversary Plan this time, and the cake was truly delicious. The staff provided excellent service, allowing us to enjoy a comfortable stay throughout.

Local Delicacies, A Wonderful Gourmet Journey

At the end of March, after an unexpected heavy snowstorm for Tokyo residents, I arrived at Yonago Airport. Having anxiously watched live road cameras from various locations the day before, I couldn't help but ask the car rental staff, "This car has snow tires, right?" (laughs) On the other hand, spending the first night of my first trip to Tottori at this accommodation located on the slopes of Mt. Daisen was truly a blessing. The dinner was especially delightful—the ajillo and tender squid were exceptional; the grilled flounder from Sakaiminato and ayu risotto were exquisite; and the roast Daisen Wagyu beef and wild boar meat were incredibly aromatic and fresh. They paired perfectly with a wine tasting set of three varieties—absolutely delicious! The next morning, the view of a highland church surrounded by lingering snow from the previous day was breathtakingly beautiful. The exclusive [Tenku] red wine we received as part of our membership benefits was enjoyed with my family back home—it was wonderful. Thank you very much for your hospitality!

    Meals

Dinner was very delicious. The portion of pasta was adjusted perfectly, allowing us to enjoy it until the last bite. For breakfast, it would have been nice if there were options for bread refills and more variety to choose from. The coffee was a bit lukewarm; I would have preferred it hotter.

    Delicious cuisine and warm hospitality

The atmosphere of the building, the warm hospitality of the owner couple and staff, and the chef's heartfelt cuisine impressed us so much that we visited again. Both the sea side and mountain side offer spectacular views, and we enjoyed the snowy scenery from our Room's open-air bath. It is also very convenient as it is close to the ski resort. Next time, I would like to visit in a season without snow. Thank you very much.

    The staff's service ...

The staff's service was wonderful, and the view was breathtaking, making it feel like we were truly in the "sky." The food was also delicious. I would like to go back to see the stars that I couldn't see this time.

This trip was satisfying as well.

It was a pity that we couldn't see the stars at night due to the cloudy weather, but there was lingering snow around the open-air bath, and we enjoyed the night view while soaking leisurely in the hot water.

    The meals are very delicious!

【Inside the Building】 Room: Shoes on, compact but cute with an antique style Bathroom: Bathtub outside (slightly small), unit bath inside Overall: The atmosphere was really nice! 【Bed】 It was hard and hurt my back... I woke up several times during the night~ 【Pajamas】 Long top-only pajamas 【Dinner】 As expected from an auberge, the food was incredibly delicious!!! Every dish was carefully prepared and amazing!! You can adjust the amount of pasta, but next time I'll definitely go for a large portion!! 【Breakfast】 Western-style Salad, bread (3 types), omelet (you can also choose scrambled eggs or fried eggs), yogurt Delicious! The amount was just right 【Lounge】 None 【Room Atmosphere】 The atmosphere is Western retro and really nice! You can see Mt. Daisen from the window when it's sunny, but since it was raining, I could only see a little~ 【Large Public Bath】 None 【One Word Note】 The food was amazing!! Dinner was really delicious!! However, I thought it would be nice if the bed was softer and the bathroom area was a bit better... We were also offered drinks at checkout, and the service was really great!!!

Extraordinary Experience and Exquisite Matsuba Crab

The "Anniversary Plan" in January was so delicious that in May, we tried the "Rank Up Authentic Italian," and this time, we enjoyed the "Winter Delicacy of Matsuba Crab from San'in! Collaboration with Italian Cuisine." The menu included Matsuba crab in 4 out of 10 dishes, offering Matsuba crab that surpassed creativity and innovation, and it was almost entirely hands-free to eat, making it the best. The taste was so amazing that we immediately made a reservation for the Matsuba crab course in February. The location is also excellent, with a panoramic view of Miho Bay and close proximity to Mt. Daisen. The next day, we went to "Kaike Yugetsu," where we enjoyed onsen while gazing at the sea, along with gourmet food and wine & sake pairing. About an hour from Tokyo, it's perfect for a gourmet and nature retreat, providing a refreshing change of pace. Thank you very much. We look forward to more delicious gourmet experiences and relaxing hospitality in the future.

Enjoy a homely moment in an extraordinary, high-quality space.

Upon entering the building, I was greeted by a lovely female staff member with a refined smile at a quaint front desk adorned with antique furnishings. Although I was tired from the long journey, I felt very relieved. The interior, decorated with antique furnishings, showcases the owner's exquisite taste, yet it maintains a wonderful balance of being homely without being pretentious. The cuisine was very impressive with its creativity, balance, and color, along with a solid seasoning. It had the depth characteristic of authentic Italian cuisine, distinct from the "bland Italian relying on ingredients" often found in Japan, and the well-defined flavors were very delicious. Furthermore, the friendly general manager, with a bright smile and excellent conversation, personally selects reasonably priced and delicious wines that pair perfectly with the dishes. Among them, the white wine from Okuizumo was particularly outstanding, and the general manager's story about the producer's efforts and the moving encounter with this wine was very interesting and enjoyable. Unfortunately, it was raining on the day, so I couldn't enjoy the view of Mt. Daisen, but I was unexpectedly happy to experience the warmth of the people of Daisen, which more than made up for it. Both the cuisine and the service were excellent. In an era where service often feels like a burden due to its manualized and imposing nature, this property undoubtedly offers high-quality, heartfelt, and homely hospitality. For those who want to relax while feeling a sense of extraordinary space amidst the perfect distance and kindness of the people working there, along with the air of Daisen, I highly recommend this property. I have finally found a property that I want to revisit after a long time. It feels as if I have found a new home in Daisen. I would like to conclude by expressing my gratitude for meeting the charismatic and manly owner, the general manager, and all the staff. Thank you very much.

We had a full-course Western meal for the first time as a couple in our seventies, and we enjoyed it without any nervousness. We are glad we chose this place in the sky.

    Auberge with Great Satisfaction

To celebrate my discharge from the hospital and to encourage me for the long-term treatment starting next week, we went on a trip that my wife loves. To broaden our horizons, we chose the San'in region (Fukuoka, Yamaguchi, Shimane, Tottori), which we had never visited before. We spent the first half of our 6-night, 7-day trip sightseeing and the latter half relaxing, and we stayed at Auberge Tenku for the last two nights. In fact, we selected Auberge Tenku from several equally appealing options, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. As expected from an auberge, the quality and quantity of the dinner were impeccable, simply wonderful. Even though we stayed for consecutive nights, not a single dish was repeated, and each dish was carefully prepared, stimulating all five senses—taste, sight, smell, and even hearing. The chef was friendly, and despite being busy, he spent a considerable amount of time chatting with us about the meal and other ordinary topics after dinner. The restaurant's atmosphere was also calm and had a sense of grandeur, leaving a good impression. Next, when it comes to rooms in a typical auberge, one might imagine something akin to a business hotel, but the rooms here were spacious. Additionally, the terrace of the same size, including an open-air bath, was a unique differentiating point. The antique furnishings in the room were lovely, and the breathtaking view from the terrace was mesmerizing, making us lose track of time. In fact, except for sleeping, we spent more time on the terrace than inside the room (though we did get a bit sunburned). Moreover, we were thoroughly satisfied with the hospitality. On the first night, the owner greeted us, and on the second night, we received a warm welcome from the owner's wife and daughter. Particularly, the owner, exuding a sense of dandyism, gave us a heartfelt gift (a secret), for which I would like to express my gratitude here. We also had the opportunity to talk with many of the staff, and their kind and courteous service left a positive impression. We have stayed at accommodations of equal or higher price before, but according to my wife, "This is the best ever!" It's a place we would like to revisit in a different season. There are many other things I would like to write about, but I will conclude by stating that Auberge Tenku is a "sure bet" accommodation.

    The food is excellent.

The cuisine was excellent, as expected from an auberge. The staff were kind and pleasant. However, the facility is quite old. The room was dusty, and the smell was concerning. The outdoor jacuzzi was also quite dirty, and although I'm not a germaphobe, it bothered me. Compared to recent hotels and inns with good facilities, it honestly felt a bit inferior.

    It became a good memory.

It was a room on the ocean side, and the view from the balcony was breathtaking. Being able to enjoy it while soaking in the open-air bath was a moment of bliss. The food was delicious, and the staff's service was very courteous. I would like to visit again if I have the opportunity.
